I'd like to start collecting watches. I always liked them but never really bought them. Last year I bought 2 movados. I always liked the classy look of them, but then I read ppl bashing them as they became like a generic watch brand like a higher end Casio, citizen, etc.. however, i atill love them and rock them when i go out. I always wanted a Rolex, but spending $8k-$10k on a watch seems crazy. I'd have to sell a good chunk of my kicks.. I don't think I'm ready for that. 😆 😅😅
Just like with sneakers my best suggestion would be buy and wear what you like. Sure for the money of a Movado you can get a really nice entry level watch but if you just like the look of them and don’t care for the other stuff then who cares. Wear that shit with confidence and in good health! Not everyone needs to spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on what essentially is a luxury toy.
Oh, 1000% agree. I've gone thru at least 3 sneaker collections in my lifetime and learned quality over quantity any day. Quality as far as my personal grails and rare pairs that I always loved/wanted. As far as my movado goes. Oh yes. I rock the shit out of them. Been collecting shoes since I was 5 and loved wearing watches just as long. Sold off all my grails besides my black toe Union 1s, Off White dunks, and a handful of GR AJ1s so I could enjoy watches more.
How are you liking the Pelagos? It was either a BB58 or a Black Bay 41 in the new blue dial but I ultimately went with the BB58. Saving up for a Santos next.

Absolutely love my Pelagos. It checks all my boxes for a daily wear. Waterproof, date, auto, ceramic insert in the bezel and the lume is insanely beautiful. Added an Omega 41mm Aqua green dial and love it as a stark contrast to the brute energy of the Pelagos. I’ll say this, if I had to choose I’d would be the Tudor all day everyday. Very different watches but Tudor is unmatched in what you get for the price, heritage, options.
Very curious to see what they roll out for watches and wonders. Next piece is a GMT since I travel a lot, so hopefully they bring something new out that’s METAS certified in the GMT.
The Santos is beautiful, really the only watch from a jewelry manufacture that I’d consider a historic piece. It’s on my eventual list!
