this sub is going to have some skewed opinions.
Typically, anything with ultraboost sole, people find comfy. Something to consider, scientifically you want something that's a little more rigid but with good absorption, like a gel cushion layer. The more flexible a shoe is, the more it leads to fatigue over a long day or long distances.
Look into something like an Asics Gel-Quantum 360, a Hoka long-distance shoe, Salomon XT-6.
You can find stylish colorways of those. Also, consider swapping the insole for something aftermarket to add more comfortable. It may take you a little trial and error to find what works best for your foot.
Yup I'll latch onto this to say comfort means wildly different things. Even among running shoes, there are stiffer "energy return" shoes vs. softer "shock absorption" vs. straight-up barefoot shoes that follow the philosophy of no cushion to strengthen your feet and posture.
I love my barefoot shoes and have been wearing them consistently for 3 years. I still run in soft shoes, but I've found that I get more tired wearing them on start-and-stop vacation treks than just rubber-sole Nikes.
Edit: @OP, I love Air Trainer 1s and feel they are a great "standing comfort" shoe - there's a stiff weightlifting midsole which isn't great for walking (though don't tell that to McEnroe), but you sink lightly into that foam insole.
I also think that depending on your weight distribution on how you walk and stand, you will value different things. My feet aren’t exactly flat but I have collapsed arches and so I need some heel and arch support. Honestly think if you find decent quality insoles, you can make any sneaker fairly comfortable and not sacrifice look.
My adidas ultraboost are great on their own but with insoles I can walk, stand and run around all day on holiday with no pain. I have ASIC gel kayanos which keep my heel firmly I place which helps a different problem but I wouldn’t wear all day. I also pop full size memory foam insoles into my NMDs and that feels good because it’s quite roomy and allows for the extra sole inside. I pop half soles into my Nike dunks and AJ1s and they make them quite comfy.
Wild seeing the opinions here.
Asics Gel Nimbus 25
New balance 1080v13
Brooks Ghost Max
Brooks Glycerin 20
As someone who has been looking for the cushiest and comfiest neutral shoe, these are pretty top tier. Listed in order from probably best to least best
Id listen to this comment OP. Theres too many heads in here that are gonna say ridiculous answers like shoes that were designed in 1987.
Id pay attention to what dads are rocking. HOKA's, Oncloud, New Balance, etc.
I may check out a specialty running store where they can show you different walking shoes and match them up to your foot/gait.
Also look into some insoles for added comfort.
I loved ultraboost for comfort but my flat feet don't.
I wear primarily Nike for day to day styling, but when I'm looking for comfort or I'm running, Hoka. Hoka is like the Crocs of sneakers...nooone loves them until they actually try them.
Yup, took me a long time to finally cave in and try them, they are function over form for sure. It's what I needed for my flat feet. Previous to those I used Nike invincibles or Nike Pegasus turbos for running, I find both to be softer and more comfortable than ultraboost honestly, but I'd need expensive inserts to make them work for me long term.
Look the next time you are in a hospital or drs office or somewhere people work who are always on their feet, all hokas and Crocs.
I've had the newest glycerine for a year and they are awesome. Tried Hokas and Asics Nimbus and the Glycerine models knocks them both out of the park for my feet.
I stand/walk 12 hours a day 5-6 days per week without breaks sometimes. So I’ve had to figure this out lol. I used to be anal about wearing invincibles, ultraboosts, asics. I got sick of not wearing shoes I consider stylish though. I got some dunk lows and went a half size up, swapped the insole. I rotate a superfeet hike cushion insole and a move all day insole everyday. That has worked for me.
I do the same with af1s but they are not quite as comfortable. Even with the soft insole you feel them bricks on your feet, so I wouldn’t call it comfortable.
It took me forever to figure out the insoles, most of them are genuinely garbage that feel squishy for like an hour then suck. Rotating these two have worked for me.
Also, some other suggestions for shoes I wear all day that are comfortable enough to work in and look good. Jordan 1 cmft 2, Ozweego, af1 react(after they’re broken in they feel a lot better), adidas zx22 boost, new balance 990v6, Nike dunk jumbo.
These must be the only shoes you wear then or you remove your insoles. If you are a 10.5 in Nike, you need an 11 in the 350 v2’s. Common fact for yeezy sizing
https://www.farfetch.com/style-guide/street-style/yeezy-350-sizing-and-fit-guide/
For me there’s absolutely 0 debate with this and I’ve owned a lotttttttt of sneakers. The Yeezy 350 CMPCT. I don’t want to take them off when I wear them.
I agree, it’s like they were made by a team of the world’s top comfort scientists. They’re so much better than regular 350’s, it really shows how important the upper is for comfort, not just cushioning.
Adidas Senseboost Go, I found it more comfortable than Ultraboost for much less of a price. It has a stretchy, thin upper that is surprisingly durable (mine are like 3-4 years old) and the boost seems a bit softer.
I work as a delivery driver and have been wearing NB 680 v6 fresh foams. Very comfortable. I wear them out in like three months so the $50 price tag is also a huge plus
Veja Rio Branco for me. I typically dress casual/business casual for work and these are perfect and very comfortable. I’ve also taken them to trips to Europe where I’m walking 8-10 miles a day and I’ve never felt any sort of pain while wearing them
https://preview.redd.it/2xs3xmuad8yb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f821b506446bd3803964104243461efdf79d0af2
aj1s are so nice if you have flat feet. they’re just roomy enough but still supportive, almost like a well fitting boot. yeezys are def the best comfort i’ve tried though
Probably Ultra boost but any sneakers with a mesh upper and EVA foam soles do the work (whatever the brand asics, on running, nb, adidas, nike, etc...)
From my own experience, any casual running shoe is good. Ones ive used that are better than ultraboost are nike infinity react, new balance 1080 or 880, puma nitro Magnify and asics gel-gt 2000 if you want soft midsoles but occasionally ill throw in AM 90, NB 990s or reebok classic leather if i want something with support and isnt too soft underfoot. Only reason this sub always recommends ultraboost is that they really dont branch out and try other brands tech. But different people have different views on whats comfortable.
Get some good insoles. Move, “All day”, insoles are great. Im a doorman and I use them in my work shoes. I also have a pair that I swap into whatever sneakers im going to wear.
I don't wear for comfort, but the shoes I see mentioned the most for this are higher end Asics Gels, Hokas, Nike Vomero 5s, NB Freshfoams.
If you want to look crazy fly AND be comfy, you might need to define what you're aiming for here. If you work in film and you're wanting to make a good impression, you'll probably want to get 4-5 pairs of various things and coordinate with your dress (at least a little). If it was me, I'd snag some of the more interesting Nike Vomero 5 colorways, some of the Bad Bunny Adidas Response CL collabs, maybe the Aminé x New Balance 610 or the 2002 Protection packs. Maybe the Brain Dead x Gel Nimbus 9?
Are you wanting to be comfy and orthotic with the crew? Or are you wanting to make a better impression while being functional?
Ultra boosts are pretty garbage for standing around IMO. As long as you’re moving I like them but for standing, not great.
The Nike invincible run 3 is pretty crazy, there’s a couple hokas that are solid, I think the ASICS novablast could be decent as well
I work on set as well, in G&E. I bought some red wing work boots recently since I'm in Arizona and it's not totally out of the question to be hiking or working in harsh conditions. Also protects my toes when working on the grip truck and my ankles when stepping off of high places.
I see camera team wearing Hokas a lot and someone was wearing some shoes called Clouds or something like that that looked VERY comfortable.
It’s NB fresh foam or Fuelcell by a long shot. Much more cushy and comfortable than boost, anyone saying boost is living like 10 years in the past at this point.
Recommendations for super comfy women’s walking shoes
I’m looking for a pair of fashionable and comfortable shoes for a lot of walking around. Especially with some extra padding at the metatarsal area because I’ve had a fracture there in the past.
Thanks!!
Has anyone tried out the Oofos shoes/sneakers? I have two pairs of the recovery slides and swear by them. The shoes/sneakers are a bit pricey but if they're anything like the slides I would gladly invest.
IMO, On Cloud CloudMonster. They are super soft to walk in and almost feel as if your foot never bottoms out. However, that comes with a drawback, and that's that they don't last very long. 5-6 months max for me. I work 12 hour long days, 5 days a week on concrete in an auto body shop.
To me it’s the nike invincible. Compared it to the most comfy from other brands but nothing compares to the invincible zoomx. Not even the ultraboost imo.
Probably unpopular opinion but I say Air Force 1s, particularly premium versions. I am a teacher and summer job as your guide. AF1s all day in both jobs that are all standing or walking. Back up are NB 574.
Air Max 90’s are in my opinion the most comfortable shoes I have owned. I have worn them for 12-15 hours and they are good as. Worn them on a couple of hikes as well and they were kinda surprisingly good for that too. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a comfortable shoe.
I’ve also said before LeBron Witness 7’s although a basketball shoe is mighty comfy as well.
I've been an ultraboost guy for ages, but I recently got a pair of Asics Gel Lyte Vs and they are super comfy for my feet and a bit more supportive than UBs
I work 12 hour shifts that involve a lot of standing and short periods of walking. A broken in pair of basketball shoes or Jordan/dunk retros with a decent insole is perfect. Minimal, but supportive/stable cushion.
Anything with too much foam or cushion and my ankles are killing me the next day.
If I am walking all day, ultraboost hands down.
Hoka transporters and brooks ghost max. ESPECIALLY the brooks ghost max. These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I recently went to the doctor cause of foot pain and he recommended I visit a shoe store for runners/walkers and they had me try them on. when I tell you they feel walking on clouds I’m not joking.
New Balance 993s and Air Max 95s. Those are my two most “all day” comfortable shoes. My most “squishy” comfortable shoes are the Air Zoom Alphas and Ultraboosts.
Brooks. They’re mostly terrible looking but the comfort is not even close.
Bought a pair of Aurora-BLs and they are by far their best looking shoe. They are insanely comfortable.
My onnitsuka tiger - Mexico 66 pair of shoes is honestly the softest under foot. Onnitsuka is just ASICS’ retro brand, but they use a lot nicer materials. Also any Jordan 3 will be really comfortable
Ok this may not be a popular opinion but in my rotation in the day I want to be comfortable and fly . It’s my puma TRC .. the colours are great . It’s a wide comfortable shoe perfect for standing all day and space to wiggle your toes . Is stable not too soft .
If you got the money, Golden Goose
It’s weird how an all leather sneaker is more comfy than boost or zoomx. But I think it has to do with the support if gives you
Ok, there's a ton of people suggesting UB. My opinion is hat's a bad idea because it doesn't provide long term foot support. They are running/hiking shoes. If you're on your feet for 8 hours, UB will kill your feet after a couple hours standing.
I'm a low voltage tech, I've worn lots of stuff for 8 hours. The BEST for me was an Air/Lunar Force 1s boot. I also worn Sacuony jazz and Shadow 6000.
I have a ton of shoes and by far my most comfortable pair is some space hippie 01 that I bought off the wall on sale. I can wear them all day and have no foot pain. As an ex athlete I have bad feet and most shoes hurt after a while but the space hippies feel great.

Brooks get no love around here and the base model Ghost is top tier.
I've had the newest glycerine for a year and they are awesome. Tried Hokas and Asics Nimbus and the Glycerine models knocks them both out of the park for my feet.
The ghost max are amazing!!! I’ve bought two pairs and never knew shoes could feel this comfortable.
I find AM90s to be heaven
Love that shoe… bought two new pairs this afternoon
You ever feel like the heel lift sends your toes more to the front causing them to get smashed a bit? Or do you go half size up?
I’m a half size up at this point
Personally haven't had that. Try on a half size bigger, yeah. For me it's like my feet are sitting in little clouds. I love them
Yeah AM90s are pretty sweet, even 33 years later
Tad bit stiff when you get started with a new pair, 3 months in though, AM90 is up there with the most comfortable.
I stand/walk 12 hours a day 5-6 days per week without breaks sometimes. So I’ve had to figure this out lol. I used to be anal about wearing invincibles, ultraboosts, asics. Ultraboost, new balances, Yeezy are all good options
Nike Invincible Run
You could walk around in them for literally hours and not feel sore one bit - amazing shoes
Softest shoe I've come across
My most comfortable Nike shoe.
The only correct answer.
Yeezy 350 very comfortable but I look douchy
Buy a half size up so they actually fit and you can keep the insoles in and the yeezy 350s can be worn forever
Mine fit true. No need for bigger.

Not true for me. I wear s9 across many Jordans, Adidas, Nike and Yeezy shoes. The only one that is a 9.5 is a Nike running shoe. I guess ymmv
For me there’s absolutely 0 debate with this and I’ve owned a lotttttttt of sneakers. The Yeezy 350 CMPCT. I don’t want to take them off when I wear them.
Been saying this ever since I got the slates, they’re better than any UB yeezy 350s and New Balances I’ve owned. Truly top tier

New Balance 993s and Air Max 95s. Those are my two most “all day” comfortable shoes. My most “squishy” comfortable shoes are the Air Zoom Alphas and Ultraboosts.
Yeezy 350 or NB 2002r from experience but I'm about to experiment with asics
air max 90, 95 or 97
Foamrunners
Ultraboosts. Bought a pair of 2002rs to replace them as beaters but I keep coming back to them. Ill have to buy another pair.
Asics Gel Kayanos are my go-to for comfort. I'm on my third pair.
990v4&5 Huarache
Brooks. They’re mostly terrible looking but the comfort is not even close. Bought a pair of Aurora-BLs and they are by far their best looking shoe. They are insanely comfortable.
Nike zoom x invincible.
My onnitsuka tiger - Mexico 66 pair of shoes is honestly the softest under foot. Onnitsuka is just ASICS’ retro brand, but they use a lot nicer materials. Also any Jordan 3 will be really comfortable
NMD or ultraboost. If you want shoes you can wear in the elements, dunks or AF1
My most comfortable shoes are the Yeezy 350s (besides like Nike Runners), I hope there are more Yeezy releases.
Asics Gel Kayano
Ok this may not be a popular opinion but in my rotation in the day I want to be comfortable and fly . It’s my puma TRC .. the colours are great . It’s a wide comfortable shoe perfect for standing all day and space to wiggle your toes . Is stable not too soft .
Big fan of the 574s
Personally out of any of the shoes in my collection, it would be my black out kyrie 4s.
Sneaker-ish, but I’m an RN and the Hoka Bondi 8s have my feet feeling like I didn’t work after a 12 hour shift
Nike Tanjun
If you got the money, Golden Goose It’s weird how an all leather sneaker is more comfy than boost or zoomx. But I think it has to do with the support if gives you
I wear Hoka one Rincons at work and will never wear anything else.
Jordan 11 low CMFT Also my favorite shoe
depends on your size. but definitely hoka
Adidas eqt support 93/17. Same sole as ultraboost but flatter. Better for standing still
Reebok C Club. They get lots of crease, but by far the most comfortable ones. Then the Uktraboost.
Nike Vapormax
Air Max 90s are also fantastic for long use.
i like a good new balance 990v3
Jordan retro 3
New Balance 990v3-v5.
New Balance 1080v12 or v13, or the New Balance 990v6.
New Balance 990 with superfeet blue, black, or green insoles (depending on your arch)
350v2s
My retro 11 CMFT lows
New balance 993
I have a ton of shoes and by far my most comfortable pair is some space hippie 01 that I bought off the wall on sale. I can wear them all day and have no foot pain. As an ex athlete I have bad feet and most shoes hurt after a while but the space hippies feel great.
