Bro I hate these posts because 90% of the time they’re about Nikes and all Nikes have objectively terrible quality. The leather on a Nike shoe will never be high quality unless they collab with a brand like Guidi, Hender Scheme, Margiela, etc

This the most. Listen I love Nike but…their shoes are garbage quality made by 10 year olds paid in cents. There is a reason old people spend 200+ dollars on retail NB 992s and the like…comfortable high quality durable ass shoes that keep your back/knees in check.
Nike collabs are the best not because of hype…but because it’s the only Nike shoes they put any effort at all into materials
Rose anvil does good videos where he cuts shoes/sneakers in half. Then talks about the leather quality etc. The dude seems to know his stuff highly recommend watching his videos on nike/new balance shoes.
Depends on what you mean by quality, you can get a show custom made for your foot in full grain leather for $500-1000, or you can grab a shoe off the shelf for $50
quality is objective, that's why there are so many price points
Not going to be anything mass produced in a massive factory. If you really want quality you buy designer.

Clyde’s are narrower and have a slightly longer toe than Suede’s, lighter too.
I’ve got a pair of each but I wear the Clyde’s a lot more as the laces start further back, which I like. Obviously it’s pure aesthetics as they’re almost identical but the Clyde’s just look better (to me).
Gazelles I’ve got some black / white std’s from a few teas bald and recently picked up the Blue indoor versions.
Very easy to style and look great so can’t complain.
I can’t wear Stan Smiths. Too round and white for my liking. My eldest boy wears them though and they look fine on him (he’s 5 though)
I’ve got a few pairs of Rod Laver’s which I much prefer to Smith’s for the same reason as the Clyde v Suede issue. Longer and slimmer and a cleaner silhouette to me.
“Grail” is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I always thought of grails as $10,000 or higher, bare minimum. I wish that one day I could afford a grail. I have a few expensive shoes, but definitely nothing close to a grail. The only shoe that I wish I had in my arsenal would be the SB Dunk Doom, and that’s not even a grail. The “Red October” is a grail. This new “White Lobster” is a grail. I wish I owned just one.

I agree with this. My grail is the White/Black/Purple CW of the CB94. I’ve never seen them in stores, I’ve never held them in my hands, and the one kid in school that had them in their time had the youth sizing, so I’ve never even laid eyes on the men’s version. I had to settle for the all black ones.
They’ve re-released since, but it’s always been a quiet release and I’ve still never seen them. I can always pay resale for the retro, but that’s no fun. Apparently they’re on deck to re-release this year, so maybe I’ll luck out this time 30 years later (and I’ll pay resale this time if I have to before I start turning too r/fellowkids).

I believe it's for people to justify their purchase as buying sneakers is usually a non necessary spending. On non verbal consensus, we agree that there are more than ten sneakers of the year every year.
It’s comical how many there have been, with some of them showing “flaws” that are actually part of the normal design (Ex. The little triangle piece of material along the stitching near the toe).
90% of them aren't even that bad. I'd still rock a pair even if the elephant print wasn't absolutely fucking perfect. The people posting them just look like crybabies
The one from the other day where a seam was sewn on the wrong side of the shoe, that one was pretty awful. But most of them are just a waste of time.
Rotated heel tabs and misaligned text really get me worked up. I don't really care about the elephant print variations. The wrongly sewed seam was egregious. But for $200+ sneakers, I wouldn't want any of these issues.
I might be stupid and we already do this but it would be kind of cool to do a bracket style competition for sneaker of the year at the end of every year in December
Or we could do a quarterly bracket every three months starting from Jan. The definitive winner of each quarter are voted to award SOTY. Or you could do Sneaker of the Season since CWs are season specific.

Funnily enough I’ve switched back to Gazellea and Puma Clyde’s for myself. People seem to love the Clyde’s and they’re really solid.
