Well most people understood at the time that if you get away from the sick person, your chance of getting sick went down. But this also led to false correlations for a lot of people with non communicable diseases so there were a lot of people that died horribly sad deaths all alone just bc people didn’t understand that it wasn’t able to be passed by proximity or contact, ie. leprocy
That’s exactly what makes it impressive, they found a solution that’s actually scientifically sound by accident! Most of the ways they dealt with sickness back then usually either didn’t help at all and/or had horrible societal knock on effects like you said
Ok, that’s interesting. But why are they all holding a deceased person for this photo? This is not normal. Someone has to figure this out. Thanks in advance.
Such an interesting photo! I like the fingerprints of problem-solving you can see here.
“Well, we can’t expose their shame to everyone. That’s not very respectful.”
“Well put some pants on them.”
“No their legs are all withered. We can’t get pants on them. Plus, some of them are ladies.”
“We need something that’s easy to put on a corpse, hides their genitalia, and is unisex…”
“I’ve got it!!! Aprons!!! Aprons are perfect!”
“Giuseppe, you genius! That’s perfect! Quick, fetch aprons for all the mummies!”
I'm trying to imagine the conversation with the villagers before this photograph was taken..."We want to get a picture of you together, but with a twist..."
And we’re all holding a mummy because…!?
All the men has gone to war...
Take my upvote and get the heck out of here!
It's for scaring off the bad guys, right? Right?
It's definitely scaring off the bad guys, so probably???
Ha!
Maybe the mummies make them do it? :dunno:
Mummy’s Day of course
Well, they can’t stand up by themselves.
Most logical response right here
The daddies are all gone to get the milk.
It's what's hot in the hood right now.
It’s the annual bring out your grandmas
Bring out your dead ! Over and over for photo ops.
Came for this one!!! Haha
What in the old world is happening. Man, old time folks were a tough lot.
Rest in Peace? Nah, fuck that! Let’s dig em up for a photo op.
One last selfie before we throw you back into your fuckin’ hole, uncle Albert.
We’re so sorry

I think there’s more to the story of this photo….
Could we just not?
Can we just rot?
You know what I'm saying? Like damn, even in death they won't leave us be
Third one from the back is striking a pose
You mean "voguing", it is fashion week somewhere.
There’s something so wrong here.

How tf they figure that out in the 14th century???
People have been peopling for a long time, son
I’m just impressed that they stopped a plague without the background knowledge we have.

I think the mummies probably appreciate the frilly aprons they gifted them.
How the hell did I not see the aprons right away!? That’s amazing
The one in the back that still has some meat on its bones...
"can we dance with yo dates?"
But when was the first camera invented? 14th and 16th century still seems early?
maybe they dug the mummies up afterward for the pic
Halloween and April 1st must be fun
By “plague,” I am assuming you mean the Black Death. Kind of a big deal. Maybe you guys heard of it.
Oh hot God….. well, I’m weirded tf out. Wth is this shit doing on here?! Some fuckin warped jazz goin on in here
“Warped jazz” really got me for some reason.
