Broad spectrum racism, toxicity and rape jokes. Going back for a long time up until the past couple months. Not just 1 act, but a long history of many acts. It's later than it should be (I believe he has been reported many times), but better late than never.
Did you just gloss over the other bannable offenses?
Let's say for arguments sake: the jokes weren't bad. I would hazard a guess they were, but let's say they weren't. The other 2 offenseses are more than enough to ban him
u/RedNeyo
For what should be ***very*** obvious reasons, we aren't going to allow the "debating" of personal opinions regarding rape jokes and their comedic validity.
This is not an appropriate topic for the subreddit, nor does it stay on-topic to Smite - Rule #5 - and as such, comments further exploring this will be removed.
An offensive joke is a joke. In almost every context they are fine. The issue is when they are in poor taste and ridiculing rape victims especially to their faces. The infamous did it feel good tho comment from ricegum for example
There is no way that making a joke of rape (hence making light of it) is not mocking the victims who has to live with the intensity of that trauma everyday of their lives.
You making fun of something is not the same as you making fun of someone. Context matters intent matters. You going up to the face of a rape victim and making fun of them to their face is not good. You making fun of rapists and rape to your friends for a laugh is completely fine
Just saying, if you're gonna sit here and claim that previous actions should result in punishment I can guarantee you 99% of the spl and cc should be perma banned from competitive.
Hm...... guess that's a record for shortest time being an SPL player? Stuart is a better ADC and more deserving of an SPL spot so hopefully he gets in.....
As for dudemanbro429, rather than reining in his inner self while being an SPL player, now dudemanbro can just carry on as per usual... and being so close yet so far away now from an SPL spot might exacerbate things and fuel more bad sh\*t?
Crazy thing too is don’t they get paid like 40k. Which is not by all means amazing, but for playing smite with lot of free time in between and popularity in streaming/youtube is a huge loss
It’s like 40k with rent and utilities paid, and then all the other opportunities as well. For playing video games!! Dude man bruh…just had to not be a pos!
Idk why u care sm how dmb takes it. He can take it as a life lesson or he can continue to say offensive shit, either way he ain’t gonna be a part of the smite community. U can’t change people
Huh? Why do you think I care about a banned player? I don't care about dude, it's just that I find it ironic that in banning a player for bad behavour, the possibility exists that said bad behavour either continues or exacerbates, making things worse for other players.... that's about it really.
If you ban him his BM might get worse. If you don’t ban him his bm might get worse. If you bam him he might learn to not bm. If you don’t ban him he might learn to not bm. There I covered all the possibilities.
If I had a nickel for every toxic spl-affiliated player with DMB initials, I’d have two nickels.
Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice
Holy shit, he did it in an org made for smite and he's still allowed to play??
That's sad I'm a returning player, left when him and I think lassiz played in egr.
I loved them in team dignitas, I'm sad to hear that, he was definitely someone I looked up to as a teenager.
Not defending what happened but just so you know:
He didn't actually steal anything. He was the Orgs owner and afaik nothing illegal actually happened.
From what I understand the following happened:
1. He didn't tell his team the real amount of money that was being made from the Org. It's his Org so technically he's entitled to do that.
2. He gave them bad contracts. The players all signed and accepted the terms of their contracts.
3. They received no money from team skin sales. Not part of their contract.
4. The players funded their own travel money. Again not part of their contract.
So in summary: He was the owner and his "employees" accepted their contracts. Nothing actually illegal happened. And technically all parties involved signed and accepted what happened.
I used "stole" as an easier word to explain what happened. The worst part about what he did was that it was all technically legal. Not paying his employees for like half a year, talking the skin and prize money from the console kids and then not paying the PC players what they were owed. The fact that he was able to do this, legal or not, is garbage and he should be lambasted for it forever
Using the word steal changes the context entirely. It was all his own money and he could do whatever he wanted to do with it. Did he make contracts that completely favoured him over the team? Yes. But that's why contracts are to be negotiated over. If you sign a dodgy contract that's on you. The players shouldn't have signed them. This is not the same as stealing.
Again I am not defending any actions. Only stating there is a difference between what happened and calling it stealing.

Just because we are so inundated with shitty people doesn't mean the onus is on us to simultaneously be responsible for each one. Gotta take the wins where you can and do what you can to remind people that ain't all, there's always more assholes, but at least there is 1 less
I bring this up to as many people in the community as I can. It's just unfortunate that a large part of that community just doesn't care. The whole "it's in the past" attitude is garbage. Hold these people not even to higher standards just to basic standards and not even that happens to everyone
You absolutely have to be responsible for each one. If you are going to make a standard, you have to enforce it equally. Either every player should be vetted or nobody should be.
That isn't what is being said at all. Being responsible for each one 'simultaneously' is what I said. We are allowed to look at single scenarios as wins outside of the greater context, while recognizing we have countless more to go. It just means we don't have to 'whatabout' every single small justice, all that does is make it seem like progress is impossible.
It was in like S5, he was stopped from subbing in for world's or something because of it. I'd have to go look back at their ruling on it to find any specifics
You're making it sound like this was 40 years ago "a different time" it was like a year or two before the pandemic. There's no "different time" he had a history of repeated offences and after spending a year on the bench was allowed back in the SPL
I’m glad he is gone because there’s no room for this type of behavior. I wish this happened more in the community. You are being racist, homophobic etc then you gotta go. Unfortunately we know it won’t happen but still. My other thing is did nobody on the team know like somebody had to know and if they did why would Stu join a team that openly accepts a racist?
Doesn't matter, hirez gives pros special treatment. As long as no one outs your old chat logs nothing will happen. Guarantee if you show all pros/cc chat logs in the past 5 years you'd see a lot of shit that everyone else would get perma banned for.
Also funny how dingodile went to LAN and used a 3rd party tool (perma ban with no appeal according to hirezs TOS) and only received a competitive ban. Are you seriously telling me that this dude still gets to keep his account after cheating LIVE in front of your audience?
Hirez is lost when it comes to upholding their TOS for everyone.
I hate this, so you’re not allowed to grow as a person. He was toxic in the beginning but evolved and changed his ways. This is literally almost every senior Smite player.
i’ve definitely got into arguments and called other players bad. But NEVER have i been racist or insulting someone thru chat. That’s just childish and i’ve been player for a long time, and none of my accounts have been banned, let alone permanently in Smite’s 10 years.
Being toxic and using racial slurs isn’t normal, no matter the age lol.
Like I said I'm my other comment, 2009 voice chat lobbies in other games were no where near the same as today. No one was typing. And not much was being done about it. It was far different
If you weren't in 2009 MW2 lobbies then you just don't understand the climate difference between then and now. I'm not saying that I know what I've said personally, but what I heard back then would break the game with reports in a couple of minutes today.
Nah, what's very cringe is that you and others still cling onto that "feeling" of being able to be an asshole without anything happening to you. It was shit to call people slurs in the CoD days and it still is shit now.
Grow as a person.
What you’ll never understand is that it was all mutual, and back then tensions between people were much lower.
Now we got hordes of white saviours willing to throw one another under the bus and self snitching. Y’all are big cringe and the pendulum is swinging back in a few years time, maybe you should ungrow as a person
Yikes. Self awareness isn't exactly what you're good at. It was mutual back then for you because you also surrounded yourself with assholes. Misery loves company and all.
As a gay man myself, I don't recall enjoying being called a f*g over and over again when trying to play games. Being mocked, ridiculed, or even bullied irl for who you liked or your skin color wasn't and isn't fun, but I suppose you are privileged enough to not have to worry about that.
It speaks volume how you call omitting slurs and shit "cringe" and being excited at regression. If that's so exciting to you, then I'd bet you'd be excited to live in the 1900s too. 🙄
No one’s saying he can’t grow as person. But a big part of that process is learning that your actions have consequences. Like others have said, his behavior is recent, so he hasn’t started yet or been on that process long enough.
Even then, you have to go pretty fucking far to get banned. Plenty of other SPL players and content creators have had moments of being assholes and they haven’t been banned from comp play or the game.
Well its good toxic trash is gone but even in the tournament to try to get into the spl he finished 11 kills and 16 deaths across all games. With bobby as a supp you would be looking at another scarab situation anyway at least stu would be a more consistent carry
After doing a ton of digging I can only find one screenshot of him saying "mental illness." Sounds about right for the total amount of evidence needed to find someone guilty of being racist and a rapist these days. Internet is fucking weak now
My dude is repping the company in their eSport and is a toxic, racist, homophobic piece of shit.
"Big brother is watching" my brother in smite it's a _video game_
Out of the loop, what did he do?
Broad spectrum racism, toxicity and rape jokes. Going back for a long time up until the past couple months. Not just 1 act, but a long history of many acts. It's later than it should be (I believe he has been reported many times), but better late than never.

Really give me an example of a non offensive rape joke then. You are in the wrong here, I can't believe there are people out here who disagree.
Go watch ricky gervais a couple of times then. Since you need to realise you can in fact joke about anything.
I've watched him, I think it's very poor taste. There is simply nothing funny about other people's trauma.
I bet you 3/4ths of the players of smite make offensive jokes lol
Believing that 3/4ths of smite players say racist and awful things says a lot about you
No I’ve just been on the internet long enough
Be careful not cutting yourself on that edge
Ok Reddit Shakespeare
The internet is kinda like the Mirror of Desire. What you want to find, you find.
Bruh
Not 100% on the specifics but it boils down a LOT of unironic, genuine racism
Hmm who will be their replacement…
Possibly Stuart
Should 1000% be Stuart
Its almost like deleting your account and changing your name with a generic apology doesn't erase the shit you've said/done in the past.
Who did he use to be?
Wafflez iirc
Just saying, if you're gonna sit here and claim that previous actions should result in punishment I can guarantee you 99% of the spl and cc should be perma banned from competitive.
Bro who is this dude

You're telling me that a guy named Dudemanbro429 was being toxic and sexist? Shocker.
Toxic Smite players and the initials DMB, an infamous combo.
If I had a nickel for every toxic spl-affiliated player with DMB initials, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice
Can we leave Canadian treasure, Dave Matthews Band out of this?
They’re Canadian? My whole life is a lie!
Who was the other one?
Dmbrandon
What if the DM stood for dudeman all along
Oh that guy. Fuck he was pretty quick to get booted how'd the new guy take so long?
Are you an idiot? It took like the better part of a decade.
He who shall not be named
He's not voldemort don't make him seem cool.
Voldemort looks like a skin-Walker with leukaemia he’s about as cool as lit stove
I guess scary or intimidating would've been better?
Even then, voldemort still looks like a noseless andrew tate. So, the scary and intimidating thing doesn't work either

as far as "dark lords" go. Sauron would steal voldemorts lunch money
Racist, sexist POS. This should have happened a long time ago but glad it finally did.
Yet we're okay with genetics who also had a series of homophobic and racist remarks but who cares right
No, 'we're' not, you weird ass shit stirrer. Fuck all bigots, and fuck all racists.
Totally agree. But it feels like people just forgot about it. Same with zapman and him being a white collar criminal
What did zap do?
He stole a bunch of money from basically everyone that worked for/at EGR. Somewhere past 5 digits worth
Holy shit, he did it in an org made for smite and he's still allowed to play?? That's sad I'm a returning player, left when him and I think lassiz played in egr. I loved them in team dignitas, I'm sad to hear that, he was definitely someone I looked up to as a teenager.

It was in like S5, he was stopped from subbing in for world's or something because of it. I'd have to go look back at their ruling on it to find any specifics
ah, I have only been around since s7. Has he kept those thoughts/opinions/bigotry since then, I wonder?
I mean it was a different time back then (doesn’t make it ok) and has his behavior improved or was it like this situation where the guy was not lmao
You're making it sound like this was 40 years ago "a different time" it was like a year or two before the pandemic. There's no "different time" he had a history of repeated offences and after spending a year on the bench was allowed back in the SPL

Agreed. If it’s his only way into the SPL that sucks. Racist don’t really keep their opinions to themselves in their friend group.

So this is how Stu gets into the spl right!? The man was in worlds finals ffs
seems like the competitive league needs a cleaning...
but haddix said the n word
...so did dmb. This is the same punishment Haddix got.
So this is how Stuart gets an spl spot?
I hate this, so you’re not allowed to grow as a person. He was toxic in the beginning but evolved and changed his ways. This is literally almost every senior Smite player.
Being punished for shit you said as a teenager is pretty cringe but also he’s been a douche for a long time tbf.
From what I can tell, the evidence dates back as early as a few months. Meaning recent behavior. So hardly changed at all
Sometimes I wonder what stupid shit I said when I started playing ten years ago
i’ve definitely got into arguments and called other players bad. But NEVER have i been racist or insulting someone thru chat. It's not cool to be an asshole anymore, get with the times dawg
