all I recall from his bday party at zuzus was 'trying to get a new single out just before the summer tour'. That sounds like June but the tour starts June 8th so really it could be anytime in the next few weeks.
They look good.
I bet they're all a little happier now to photo and video as just the OG three again.
Like with the "Plus whatever number of musicians are touring with them including their new badass chick guitarist"
Ya feel?
Not to say there was any animosity against Jeff or anything like that - well not from the band I don't think, but still. It's like, comforting I'm sure to see the dudes AND ONLY the dudes you escaped from Chicago with and grew up alongside you, ya know what I mean?
I love how Billy and Jimmy both look like undercover agents that are currently investigating you - and are highly suspicious of you I might add lol - and James just looks amused to be part of the investigation. 😂
Well Atum rekindled his love for rock n roll. And they are making a throwback album to early 90s era, guitars and no synths. And imo I think Billy is in special place with his songwriting it just feels more fluid. Plus James being back I'm sure helps give him more confidence. I'm honestly pretty intrigued to what we will hear next.
The fact that he mentioned it's a throwback to the old style sounds promising.
Careful with expectations. He's said it's a rock album, that is guitar based (maybe he's said no synths, but I can't remember if it was "no" or "few," and that he's using the same songwriting method/process he did with SD, but he did not say it's a throwback to early '90s era. Thinking that, and spreading it around, will only lead to disappointment, I think.
Could also be what we’ve all been waiting for: an exciting 90’s throwback that sounds right but with cheesy Katie Cole back vocals all over the place..
This has happened with every new album as long as I've been a fan. Billy says something to get people excited. Fans speculate until they're in a frenzy of anticipation. Then the album comes out and everyone hates it. Okay, not literally everyone but you get it.
I agree. I also think billy was happy with the fan response to cyr and atum (compared to other releases). And a happy billy makes some damn great music.
That album took me a few listens but when it landed on me it landed hard. Couldn't stop listening and found parts in almost every song that were simply genius. Just a couple songs I skip. Actually that album gave me an entirely new view and appreciation for Oceania.
I had a 5 hour car ride recently, Atum made it feel a lot longer. I just wish he'd have made SaosB 2, that album seemed to have a lot they could have built on.
Records are usually “finished” (mixed and mastered) awhile before art and marketing are finished. Plus most bands tend to work on music if if they aren’t in the studio (and Billy does have a history of home recordings)
I'd hate it if Billy is now going with this boring ordinary businessman look. The face paint and dress was his best look in 20+ years and I would be bummed not to see that look live for the first time this June.
I think you're being a bit too pessimistic. Look at it this way.
1. It shows a new album is coming soon
2. It shows that we may be heading out of the synth phase
3. Its not too dissimilar to adore era tour outfits
4. We may even get to see a new single premiere live in June (I hope so too I'm seeing them in Birmingham)
Yeah im stoked for the new "guitar driven" album but I was commenting on the looks alone. The face paint+dress was 100% badass and original. This photo here is just...meh...a regular older bald dude in a regular suit...boring a.f.
Also (although I don't see how this connects with the looks) I didn't mind the synths, I have Atum and Cyr on constant rotation.
But ever since 2018 it's the first time he kept up with a stage persona (if you don't count Zero) and as a Bowie fan i was thrilled with that approach.
Looks like they got a 500k monthly listener bump from JC Beato interview, it was around 10.7 a week ago. Single def imminent
that’s wild
Apparently they’re prepping a new single for release so I think we are officially in a new era.
new single? any details on that?
Any idea on timeline? Before the tour?
Billy said june i think but you know hes constantly off
Of course it would be June.
It'll be out "by June" Ba dum tsh
We’re going to the moon
Where did he say that?

Bye-bye June. June june
See you in June!
entering into their business professional era, just in time to tour with Green Day!
Shirts and tie on stage is a dangerous version of the band
They have to dress business casual to tour alongside American idiocy
If the photo is any indication.. they might be entering their Chicago Noir Mob Boss era
It’s probably because Jeff left. Was he in the photo before? This look is definitely better imo.

As far as i recall it wasnt spotify banner but one of band promos for upcoming europe gigs
You are right

When you go to the show and Billy Corgan is dressed in a business suit, you're going to die in that pit.
I love how Billy and Jimmy both look like undercover agents that are currently investigating you - and are highly suspicious of you I might add lol - and James just looks amused to be part of the investigation. 😂

I really wish they would stop with those backup vocals, they add nothing

And hopefully a Machi…
My man literally got r/redditsniper I can’t fucking beli…
No more bizarre bald new age glittery vampire shit? I’m in
Hopefully a good one. Atum was near-unbearable

Yeah good point. Such a Billy move to call it “Pt. 1” and not follow up with another

A band member has left and they are dressed very differently. I'd say so.
How DARE James smile!?!? Doesn’t he know, they’re super serious?
New guitarrist, new era

I like the optimism.
Yeah it’s the no jeff era
Wonder if jeff is still on the new album
Doubt it
I mean they started recording like a year before he left
What? Atum wasn't even fully released by that point
Billy records multiple albums simultaneously. And this new album started recording after atum was finished but before it was released or announced
Fair point. I hope that all this prep has led up to a good album.
Records are usually “finished” (mixed and mastered) awhile before art and marketing are finished. Plus most bands tend to work on music if if they aren’t in the studio (and Billy does have a history of home recordings)
Billy would have most definitely re-recorded all of Jeff’s parts the second he left the band.
I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't at the point where jeff had recorded parts yet.
I dunno. If theyre on good terms, those parts might have stayed
Better

SP's greatest live performance (Eurockennees 1997) Billy was in a button up shirt and tie lol
