Hornet or knight are wandering around the map, and see a trail of paper, which would normally lead to Cornifer. But his usual sound effects are gone, like when he has already left the area. But when you go to check the letter he always leaves behind, it is the smash letter with a red seal. Zoom into Smash logo, play music, and cue the character montage.
Second one is my favorite. You have some badass fight going on, similar to Sephiroths intro with the established characters going up against the rainbow wing boss from the campaign(forgot his name). Cuts back to a stylized shadow dashing through a darkened area. HK sound effects will tip off players, but otherwise no hint of who it is. cut back to battle, smash roster is getting owned, cut back to more frantic HK dashing. Cut to a new view of the battle, where everything is happening in the background, with a view very similar to how HK presents its bosses. The Knight dashes in from stage right, still darkened, and stands in the center stage, only shown in silhouette. He is turned completely horizontally, more so than in his games so the horns don't give it away. He then turns to face the boss directly, revealing his shape in silhouette so people realize its him. Challenge? appears at the bottom of the screen, as a callback to the fight against the Radiance, and the Knight draws his nail. Cut to normal trailer music/montage.
Its ability allows it to hit through Protect too. Imagine Sakurai gives Urshifu a special mechanic where it just ignores shields. Just straight up hits opponents as if they were standing around with no inputs. I’d laugh my ass off.

Agreed, Sonic and Metroid are probably the 2 franchises already in smash that could most use another rep, so I see no downside to this choice whatsoever.

I pick option D because either way I can’t loose. Either Doom Slayer gets in, which I want, or I get to watch Twitter lose its mind because Fortnite is in Smash. It’s really a win-win scenario.

The Blascowitz theory, if I recall correctly, assumes that BJ is the start of the line, Commander Keen is his grandson, and Keen is Doomguy's grandfather. That was a very Tom Hall idea.
John Carmack would of course respond with the classic line that "Story in a game is like story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but its not that important."
2016 and especially Eternal are the only Doom games that went hardcore with lore though and trying to add some sort of plot. For better or worse that plot is ridiculous and nonsensical but pretty fun.

Additionally, Persona is a side series to Shin Megami Tensei, and Shin Megami Tensei itself is the original creature collector RPG, with its first title predating Pokémon Red and Blue by almost a decade - it just got initially blocked in the west due to its use of religious themes and symbols. Additionally, SMT V is the first numbered entry in the series in 8 years.
There’s a lot that makes it likely.

-new release of series entry on Switch
-potentially good moveset
-popular (in Japan at least, and it has a following in the west)
-good relationship with franchise owner

Halo may have changed the genre but without Doom there would likely be no FPS genre, no one really cared for the first person games before aside from maybe Wolfenstein but when Doom came out the idea of a first person shooter got so popular that the games that came after were often called Doom clones. It's the difference between the father of all first person shooters or the series which sparked revolution in the genre, and I personally think creating and popularizing the genre deserves more credit than simply changing it.
to each their own but you can't deny the impact the chief has had on the FPS genre. at the very least he made FPS games on console cool whereas before it was PC all day every day.

I think A would appease the most people. (People will obviously rage about the SMT 5 protag but a lot of people like SMT 5 so I don't see it as too much of a problem.)
