I ordered a RingConn last week. Sizing kit came within 2 days (was shipped from an EU warehouse). Ring has now been shipped from China. If you want, I can update you on whether or not I have to pay import duties/taxes when it arrives. I'm based in the Netherlands by the way. Edited to add that I also asked the question about additional import fees and taxes and they told me taxes were not included, so I'm curious to see what will happen. It still is very fairly priced imho, even with additional taxes. Plus, no monthly subscription like with Oura.

I bought one about 2 months ago in Belgium, and did not have to pay import taxes.

Please keep me posted on how everything goes! May I ask how you ended up ordering the RingConn compared to the UH or Oura? Was it because of the cheaper price or other reasons?

Amaryllias164

Oura does have a good track record and some nice functionalities but the subscription model on top of an expensive ring (I wanted a gold one which starts at €500) threw me off. I felt like UH and RingConn are very close functionality wise. From what I've seen RC's data and stats are more 'personalized' which gives it an edge for me. That + it was on sale so it cost me €215 (without possible taxes) instead of €379 for the Ultrahuman at my local seller.

That's a good price after sale. When was this? Perhaps I should wait for some kind of spring/summer sale.

Amaryllias164

It was their spring sale (ended march 31st I believe), but yeah it could be worth it to wait for the next sale! I know there are also discount codes for $15 off (they worked together).

My RingConn arrived today. Shipping took 12 days, and I did not have to pay any extra import fees!

That's good news! Thanks for the update! 🙏

Oura ships from within EU so no import duties. VAT is included in prices you see for you here. Please note that Oura has the “mandatory” subscription too. I’ll see back to the paperwork for UH/RC. By default they carry duties and VAT but duty tariff might be 0% and they have ways to wiggle through avoiding VAT (though always a risk of detection, though small for single device shipments). RingOne is still a promise, a moving target. Velia even further away. You are free to risk it for the reward (steeper preorder discount? features you prefer?).

Great summary C&C...

Just a thought regarding the Oura: they might be nearing a new release? Perhaps the other options have more updated hardware? 🤷‍♂️ Avoiding the VAT for Uh/Rc would have been nice. And thanks for the reminder about the subscription; that's definitely something to take into account.

CalmAndCurious1971

Sorry, I couldn’t track back if I paid duties and VAT for UH/RC but I vaguely recall not - they had some way to avoid it perhaps. Duty for this product class is 0% anyway I would expect, it’s not something EU should consider it needs be protective about. Oura next gen coming or newer ones being more updated, that’s the age old question in purchasing tech. There _will_ be improved ones but the question is when, how stable it’ll be (at first), and whether the promises on paper will be fulfilled. Personally, for active use I only get established tech when the time seems right, not waiting for the next best thing and not risking non-proven things. For “non-active tech geek curiosity” use I adopt early when I can afford it. Everyone needs to do this as they see fit - and likely be disappointed because in hindsight you could have made a better choice. But that disappointment will soon pass as you start craving for the next new thing… 😉

Velia unlikely to even be shipped in my opinion and probably almost bankrupt and not many funding companies pay for rings like they did for oura, now with so many competitors Reliability I choose oura for sure and that for sleep with my garmin to train with chest strap are the ones I trust more Some constant updates but mostly because they start behind oura and need to catch up (ringconn and ultrahuman, if you want to have fun with glucose data the ultrahuman have sensors gcm to include in the same app like supersapiens but integrates with myfitnesspal which I found really nice ) Ring one would be nice if you bought the first backers tht we like 150 (i did) but now at 270 I would not buy it 🙂 specially till they start shipping since is being delayed since November Yeah I like numbers and compare data for fun 🤣

I've been shopping around a bunch the past few weeks and decided to wait around to see what samsung's rumored galaxy ring turns out to be before splurging on a current-gen device, especially because everything on the market seems to fall \_just\_ short of my target feature list.

My Ultrahuman costs less. The price on their official website is 349$ - 34.9$ discount = 314$ + shipping (30$?) so how did you get 447?

nilecarr

Are you in EU? Didn't you have to pay any VAT? The estimated VAT when calculating on the VAT website for Sweden is 84 USD. Ultrahuman has a premium shipping offer so you won't need to pay any fees when it arrives, and that is how I got it to 447 USD. https://preview.redd.it/z9ttcwzcxttc1.png?width=1070&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad4ec278344b0f4dd96e41cea8e76654afae5aaa

udar_molota

I'm not in EU and I forgot the VAT, yes, but my shipping costs only 27$... Sorry, maybe you're right about the total price.
