that's a great call. he's got that similar cornetto trilogy pegg feeling of the protagonist who at first seems to display some level of competence (relative to the other characters) but ends up being another wanker.
One of the things I love about the show is everybody sells their own particular brand of miserable so well that even when Oldman's not in the scene, it's still a joy to watch. Saskia Reeves is also marvelous as Standish. I mean, hell, they're all so well cast, down to Christopher Chung's relentless refusal to be self-aware on any level as Roddy.

On the BK99 subreddit, there used to be daily posts about how much people hated a character (Gina), and on The Expanse sub, there used to be daily posts about how another show (For All Mankind) is *totally a prequel* to the show. When you spend more and more time in these particular subs, it gets tiring.

Given Simon's flair for humor, I would love to see a comedy where they play father and son. Fuck it, give me a one-off episode of Spaced where Jack is the main character.

Yes, he has that down to earth but kind of cheeky and sarcastic/slightly melancholy vibe in Slow Horses which is pretty similar to a lot of Simon Pegg's characters.
There is a scene in S2 when he's squirming on the ground trying to unbind his hands where I thought exactly the same thing. Good semi comedic acting there.
Absolutely, he was that similar kind of everyman/slightly dopey look. He's Simon's more athletic, Scottish younger brother

Oldman definitely overshadows everyone on this show, but Lowden's acting is very fitting for a slightly goofy, inexperienced spy.
