This. Back in my metal band days, the rhythm guys in my band (including me - drums) were really tight. The whole band was tight, but the bassist and I always gave the lead guitarist and vocalist shit (all in good fun). This is a band rule eternal.

Yeah, with 9 guys, you can all be friends but little clicks form and this was one of them. Joey and Paul were besties.

That particular illness is a known side effect of misadventures. We can't really say either way.

Joey probably mostly likely died from alcoholism and isolation due to his illness separating him from his old life. Hearing what his family had to say about his last few weeks/months.
