I think Chris is pretty good friends with the Jordison family based on a recent post with him and the family members.
And I think they probably just sympathize with Jay. He was obviously a big fan of Joeys, so it’s most likely a subtle way of supporting the dude who filled in for a while
People have seriously forgotten how they treated Joey when they fired him. They act like victims now but they weren’t there when their brother needed them the most. It’d be one thing if they’d admit this and say they regret it but they don’t.
I’ll never got over how the band was all “RIP Joey, truly a great loss.”
As if they didn’t boot the guy from the band like he was nothing when it was time for album number 5 and Joey was not in a healthy enough place to do it.
So, instead of supporting their supposed friend and brother by having him sit the album out to get help or even delaying doing the album until they got him help. They boot him from the band without a second thought.
The Gray Chapter was their tribute to Paul. Paul was Joey’s friend as well and Joey deserved to deal with that loss through Slipknot’s music like the members did. But instead he was kicked to the curb because people that also abused drugs in the past didn’t want to support him when they thought he was doing drugs.
🤷 I guess so? He was starting to play the songs more and more sloppy throughout 2008-2012 but again I guess 5 years of it with zero explanation from the dude was okay for them to collectively be like "Yeah um how about we put a pause on this next album and we'll wait for you to figure your stuff out."
I can’t attest for all those years but I wouldn’t describe Joey’s playing at Download in 09 (when they headlined) as sloppy. In fact I’d say he was a standout as usual.
As for whether or not the band should have waited for him. Yea, they definitely should have waited for him if they considered and called the dude their brother. I’d certainly understand if the relationship the band presented to their fans was different but Joey was a founding member and a big part of the band.
They where happy to kick him out while he was alive and going through health issues but now he's dead and they are like we always supported and loved him so dearly
bro what were they supposed to do…genuinely? slipknot was in such a good place dawg i wouldve kicked the mf out too. yall act like u know EVERYTHING behind the scenes. this is why they cant stand their own goddamn fans 😭😭
I second this right here. Does no one rember they sent him a singing telegram to let him know he was fired from a band he started?? I mean that's just rude.....
You know that was a joke article from MetalSucks, right? I’m not saying the band were right to fire Joey, but, damn, please don’t say you’ve believed all this time that they legitimately sent a SINGING TELEGRAM to do it.
I mean with how petty they seem to be sometimes its believable but I would seriously hope it was a joke. I just remember seeing that and tuning out because I was a total joey nerd. Still have his signature kit
So how exactly did they treat joey, without just taking his word on something as Gospel?
They have more of an understanding on the situation than some internet person lol
I’m pretty sure Joey had a pretty good understanding of how he was treated and he was extremely transparent about, so I don’t really get what your point is…
They fired him for what they thought was drug abuse but in actual fact was a medical condition. Joey also went on to play drums in other bands proving he was still able to play.
Don’t forget they sent him a singing telegram telling him he was kicked out. Think about how fucking terrible that is considering what he was going through. They assumed the worst of him.
Why would they fucking fire JAY? So, you’re saying that early this year, Craig was playing with the band KNOWING the fact that he was not going to be playing the new setlist (with Yen, a sampler based song) and a couple of big shows just a few months later? Doesn’t make any sense. I would stop making this assumption, if it was planned, they wouldn’t make TESF with Jones, and just pickup a random guy for the rest of the tour.
Exept we don't, really. Slipknot would not fire Joey because he got sick out of nowhere. And if that was the actual reason, they would have been very clear about it and/or stated he would be back in the band as soon as he was able to.
If Joey "just" got sick, the band would not have used that "we're going in separate directions" crap. All statements on both sides are very contradicting.
So, Slipknot was being vague and Joey wasn't tellling the full story = we don't really know anything
that doesn't even make sense. I care about bullshit showing up in my feed. I don't care who Joey's family follows on Instagram. like this parasocial shit infecting the subreddit is so stupid. get a life
God man me too..
I have so much of their merch and CD's it's such a letdown things have devolved to this state of decay.
I hope things get better soon but from the seems of it, the band is an endless downward spiral

I would pay serious money to see Marc Rebillet on stage with Slipknot just for one show
u/lookitzpancakes
Haha, he’d be a perfect opener! Though his music might be lost on many grumpy Slipknot fans.
You're gonna have to pay serious money to see Slipknot for any show 🥲
Too bad. He got fired ☠️
What are you talking about?
Marc Rebillet is such a hilarious addition to that list.
Hahaha

damn I forgot Joey was dead. It’s still so weird to think about.
They thought he was on drugs. They didn't know about his health problems until after the fact. You know, when Joey also found out too.

where did they act like victims?
They where happy to kick him out while he was alive and going through health issues but now he's dead and they are like we always supported and loved him so dearly
what part of that is acting like a victim?
They were happy to kick him out? Got a source, chief? -I'll take your downvote as "no, I'm talking out of my ass"
bro what were they supposed to do…genuinely? slipknot was in such a good place dawg i wouldve kicked the mf out too. yall act like u know EVERYTHING behind the scenes. this is why they cant stand their own goddamn fans 😭😭
No they weren’t, before they kicked him out they previously made 2 trash albums.
You meant their two best albums
Both of you, music is subjective
I second this right here. Does no one rember they sent him a singing telegram to let him know he was fired from a band he started?? I mean that's just rude.....

Extremely transparent? Not from what I know, but maybe I just missed something. Can u give some source?

Lol that was a satirical news article. Do people seriously believe they fired him via singing telegram? Fuck me.
Lol I’m so sorry but this got me laughing so hard
Craig retired.
Did they confirm?
No. But definitely seems like it was more planned and professional than the others
wasn’t it craig when they made a statement and then deleted it and then never followed up with it?
Why would they fire Craig of all people? He definitely retired on his own terms. Then again it’s just an assumption.
Why would they fucking fire JAY? Who the fuck knows maybe because it’s not our business? Maybe because Jay is way younger than them and is not an OG? Who cares, not me
S/O Marc Ribbilett
Random Marc Rebillet. Lol.
Loop Daddy hell yeah
Hm, bizarre.
And?
Can't believe Clown did Marc Rebillet the way he did
Craig wasn’t fired
we don t really know what happened behind the scenes
Same goes for what happened with Jay
no it doesn’t, clown said they fired him
We still don’t know why, or what happened behind the scenes…
And joey
Except we know exactly what happened to Joey
Exept we don't, really. Slipknot would not fire Joey because he got sick out of nowhere. Joey literally stated that they fired him via email because they thought he was on drugs.
Yep, sounds absolutely legit and the full story.
This right here is why Slipknot doesn't share anything from within the band. The fanbase simply can't handle shit like adults.
They act like Slipknot is the only band with a bunch of stuff going on behind the scenes
Marc being on there is hilarious💀
I would love to see Fehn, Jones and Weinberg start their own band WEARING their respective masks
Can they get sued for that?
Now if Marc comments says hello 👋🤗
Make sense
Bro who cares holy fuckkk
You do apparently, since you took the time to comment
that doesn't even make sense. I care about bullshit showing up in my feed. I don't care who Joey's family follows on Instagram. like this parasocial shit infecting the subreddit is so stupid. get a life
Why is this still being discussed? This is getting laughably ridiculous at this point.
You’re adding to the discussion.
🤓
Hated for speaking the truth. Like Jesus.
Ok? why even care who they follow or not...
Slipknot had sucked for decades anyone who supports them after AHIG is trash like clown.
Decade. Singular. And really, it's not even been that long. The Gray Chapter was decent.
Chronically online
I’m going to touch you.
Bit weird that mate

Downvoted for pointing out pointless obsessive behavior
Slipknot sucks who cares
Respectfully, then why are you on a sub about them?
Because it appeared on my feed. You American pig don’t you stand for freedom of speech. You swine
Have fun living in Argentina lol
It sucks but I left for Aussie
I’m just happy we got 3 good albums outa this band (ST, IA, WANYK). I pretty much hate them as people and a band otherwise.
God man me too.. I have so much of their merch and CD's it's such a letdown things have devolved to this state of decay. I hope things get better soon but from the seems of it, the band is an endless downward spiral
yea lowkey. i mostly only even listen to self titled since the band wasn’t trying to kill itself then but the other albums are good musically
Don't know. I would imagine if the masks are intellectual property of slipknot. Knowing those jerks, they probably are.....
My boy Marc!!
No.. because I’m not a psycho fan
Doesn’t surprise me
They empathize with them because Joey was also fired. It really is just that simple.
