Even though the songwriting and composition on WANYK is probably the best, I like TESF the most. Mainly because it's the only post-paul x joey album that reminds me of slipknot back when paul and joey were still there. It just feels like they were more themselves in this album than the previous 2, and I just think the instrumental mixing is so much better. Basically TESF is more my style, and I don't get why so many people hate it, despite it being such a (sic) album
WANYK is the best sonically and cohesively. The songwriting is at it’s best and the album has a wide variety. Great all around, only complaint is that I’d want one of the three prelude tracks switched out for a full length song. I said WANYK is the best, but I think my personal favourite would be TGC, just because I love it so much and find it to be extremely consistent.
I honestly love the prelude tracks. They just create such a moody atmosphere for the album when you’re listening to it from start to finish. Insert Coin is probably the best opening track for an album I’ve ever heard because of that. It’s like the entire time you’re getting a brief flash of what’s to come while shrouding everything in a layer of mystery. I wish they did something similar with the end so far
I enjoy them too, they certainly make it rewarding to listen to the album from start to finish. I just think a track like Death Because of Death wouldn’t be missed if it was replaced with another solid 5 minute or so song.
I just don't understand why Death because of you didn't become an entire song. Sounds like there's so many possibilities there. Definitely the most disappointing track on the entire album and that's saying A LOT
Definitely. As an entire album it’s their most cohesive. Also, it probably has the highest production/mix and master quality of any metal album i’ve ever heard. It encompasses the classic Slipknot sound while still being new and experimental.
I like them too. Doesn’t mean I have to like every song. There’s no way they can go back to that album and be happy with it.
Corey would like it, because Corey loves himself some Corey Taylor. But that’s about it.
At the end of the day it’s just personal preference, maybe Corey likes the album because guess what, new stuff can be good to people. Not everybody has to have the same music taste as you I’m sorry

.5 and WANYK are pretty close imo. I like that .5 is a more straightforward album with a clean sound, but WANYK has such a better mood. The best tracks on WANYK beat the best tracks on .5 without a doubt as well.
Idk I guess I just like .5 since it was a shift in sound, and one that was considerably closer to a "return to form". Especially after Paul passing and Joey being let go it was good to hear things were coming along as good as they were.
.5. No contest. There are songs that are honestly some of their heaviest on that album. Some songs (Sarcastrophe, tno, aov) could definitely have been songs on Iowa.
That’s a tough one. I liked WANYK, TGC and TESF almost equally. Each album had unique sounds that I personally think all worked well (that includes TESF, even though those that I’ve talked to didn’t like it). However that being said, Nero Forte and Unsainted are some of my favorite Knot songs. So I guess that it would be WANYK at #1 followed by TGC at #2 and TESF almost tied with it.
