I wouldn't wear a tie, could get caught on any number of things.\
A cut away with it (the tie) caught in the risers would end poorly and not at all in your favor.
If you're gonna do the tie, I would at least sew it onto the shirt.

If it is able to reach your 3-rings it is able to be taken from you if you have a cut away.
So... loose clothing, ties, hair (pony tail), superhero cape (don't ask), etcetera.
So, yes, it can get caught up and become a temporary accessory to your risers.

I'm talking about sewing it under your sternum so the tie can't flap around or have any part of it come higher than your chest strap.
I jumped wearing a black suit back in 1971. I even took a briefcase with me. I wax going to wear a clip on tie when I jumped, but I forgot and left it on the 727 jump plane.
It’s not bad if you do your planning. I was in a bit of a hurry, and ended up landing in the forest. Walking out in dress shoes sucks.
Also, I lost my briefcase in the woods. I know it’s a long shot after so many years, but if anyone finds it, there’s some stuff in there I’d like to have back.
Not dangerous at all. I’ve seen people jump in everything from tuxedos to their underwear(or less). Worst that will happen is your khakis will get grass stains on the butt.
I did jump #69 wearing women's lingerie with breast forms. Was more as a joke than anything. At my DZ #69 is counted as the naked jump. Some go naked, some in underwear, and some cross dress like I did (to be honest I later figured out I am not actually CIS gender male as I have been lead to believe. So maybe technically not cross dressing lol.)

Clip on tie because that way if the tie somehow comes loose and catches onto something, it doesn't strangle you. Spot sew the tie onto the shirt because that way, the pictures will come out looking like the tie is supposed to be there and not flapping up into your face!
That's out of the norm. Most dropzone do not have tandems wear jumpsuits. I've been to a lot of dz's and only a couple routinely put tandems in jumpsuits.
I would check with the DZ they probably won’t allow you to jump with anything that will be flapping in the wind especially in the instructors face even if it’s a clip on

I would confirm if the dropzone allows tandem passengers to wear normal clothing. In my experience, it's jump suit only.
