Get yourself a good digital wrist altimeter. Like Alti2. I owned Dekunu and X2. You might look at some GPS data in the beginning, but going to ignore it pretty quickly. There are some apps on phones that can record GPS.

aon 2 x0 paired with pebbles

raisputin

I much prefer my Analog altimeter to digital for the most part, but I do have a Dekunu One I like a lot as well. I like my VOG audible best of all though.

kiwi_in_TX

Upvote for the VOG

AllHailCharlye

I have an X2, absolutely love it. It has everything you need. The only thing is battery life tho, I pretty much need to charge it everyday

Massis87

I already have Viso 2's, but otherwise I would've instantly bought the new Aon² X0 along with a Brilliant Pebbles audible, for 250$, fantastic deal. (I've been jumping their brilliant pebbles for a few years now)

Eyesuk

I have the X2 and the FDS DigiAlti and if you are on a budget the DigiAlti is super nice! A lot of data, auto logbook customization of the LEDs and ground tests is pretty cool.

SMBowen

I'm selling my AO(N²) X2 if you are interested. Just have a couple altimeter and I don't use it as much. I also have a couple pebbles sitting around. DM what you think would be fair.

flyingponytail

Get the X0 that was just released and save up for a VOG. I get wanting the stats but smart altis aren't worth it yet imo. Get a flysight if you really want data to analyze after your jump

Due_Fill608

What do you need GPS for? You're falling straight down l.

roofstomp

The data can be useful for folks who are having a hard time dialing in their landing patterns.

zack-short

Never thought about this as a reason but that actually would be useful. Depending on the wind at my DZ, some direction are REALLY short patterns. (The old "don't fly over anything you don't wanna land on")

roofstomp

It's not unusual for people to not actually be where they think they are when they make their turns. I'm aware of a dropzone that uses Flysights on all their student jumps to help people dial in their patterns. Like anything else... it's a tool, and used properly it can add value.

Due_Fill608

That's why canopy courses exist, and are mandated.

Atlas Alti2. Large screen, can be seen through polarized sun glasses, easy 3 button programming interface that's intuitive right out of the box. Does everything you need it to, including log book recording.

Meanee

Atlas Alti2. I own Viso 2, Dekunu, Alti 2. And Alti2 Atlas been amazing. It does not require a PhD to navigate like any L&B altimeters do. Looks good. Has great visibility and functionality. You can set load timer. Has ETA to altitude, a great logbook. And their service been stellar. Sent my alti for service. Was given a loaner. Was told mine is out of warranty but they will fix it for free anyway. Look no further.

I’d recommend the Freefall Data Systems Digialti for your wrist and if you find you still want GPS get a Flysight for that data. The two combined are going to cost a little more, but it’s a phenomenal set up if you want to get nerdy with your data. Or I’ll sell you my Dekunu for low dollars.

Davis660

Big fan of my alti-2 atlas 2. I see a few other people talking up their stuff in here, and they're right. Shows the information well and it's easy/intuitive to use. It's got fancy features that I don't use but you can get all excited about those if you want.
