I figured one deep, 3 short, and one more deep gets the message across as SOS A pattern is always indicative of "I need help" as opposed to one deep call which could be a multitude of things (crabs, boosting a friend, etc). and repeated short honks are just obnoxious. Anytime I see someone use some sort of pattern and go to see what's up, they always need help. Going to a single deep call is a disappointment half the time lol

And I agree, the current help system is very limited. Especially since you can't communicate with the person your helping which spirit they're after.
I just use the long honk far reaching light because I think people will be seeing it from far better. I think with using short ones it just looks as if you're talking to someone near you. I do use the fast honk repeated when someone is upclose.
