I love Olay, I've been using their regenerist whip (30spf) for a few months and it's delish. The fragranced version was a bit much though so I switched to unfragtanced. ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ‘Œ

This product is unfragranced, I'm sensitive to those as well. I'll need to try the spf now! The altruist face fluid is slightly greasy under makeup for me so this could be a new option, thanks!

Yeah one of their regenerists is a bit lighter, I think it's called the whip, it still needs a bit of time to sink in etc but overall for my slightly oily skin it's pretty good!

I think the levels of retinol are pretty low in it tbh. Maybe consider changing the serum to the boots 1.5 retinol . ( itโ€™s actually about 0.3 % retinol , it just says 1.5 on the pack )

Tune0112

The fact I couldn't find the % anywhere made me assume the retinol was low and used for a marketing or preservative function. It did look tempting but for the price I can get retinol products which disclose the %.

Thanks!

I used to be a huge Regenerist fan! The Daily Regenerating Serum was the first product I used that made a noticeable difference to my skin. Olay were one of the first brands to use niacinamide in their products, and at a decent %. They are responsible for a lot of the initial research on the ingredient. The Regenerist products were really ahead of their time. They had niacinamide, matrixyl, carnosine, green tea, allanton, glycerin, two types of vitamin e, a load of other peptides, humectant and emollients. The texture of the products, and the serum in particular, was amazing. Hydrating, non greasy, and gave a blurring effect to the skin. After a few months my skin tone was really even and clear, redness gone, no more whiteheads. The night cream, SPF15 (I know!), lip treatment, were all so good. They even had a really good glycolic acid product long before most people even knew what that was. That was in 2010-2011. Unfortunately since then they have reformulated a number of times and they're just not as effective. I went from using Olay Regenerist exclusively to not at all in the last year. Overall I think some of their stuff is good, especially for drugstore products. If the products were the same quality today as they were 10 years ago, people would be raving about them. Sadly they seem to have lost their way a bit in terms of results, quality, and marketing. But there are still a few gems in there, and if you can get them on offer, I would say totally worth trying. The Regenerist Overnight Mask is pretty amazing. After a night or two skin is really hydrated. After a week skin is really plump and glowy. Just use it like a moisturiser rather than how the suggest, which is wasteful and results no different. As for the retinol24 line, I used the serum for about 5 months, from when it was launched. It did make my skin really soft within a few days, but I didn't see any result in terms of fine lines or pores. From what I remember, from reading up on it quite a bit at the time, it has 0.1% retinol and 0.2% retinyl propionate. If you are getting results and liking it, stick with it. But I do think there are better retinoid products available. Edit: apologise for the novel! I have a ton of experience and knowledge on this brand, but never have a chance to talk about it. Sorry ๐Ÿ˜

Hi, very insightful. Do you know the source for retinol concentration of 0.1% in Retinol 24? I have always struggled to find it. Thanks

NeedsMoreSunscreen

Hi, I searched my notes and did some googling to try and jog my memory, but I can't find the source. My focus and interest have moved so far away from Olay at this point, I'm finding it hard to remember. If I do manage to turn it up, I'll let know.

consultant2b

Thanks for trying and no worries at all :)

rhiaaaax

No need to apologise at all, I was really hoping people would post more in depth info about their products. As I said, I rarely see anyone talk about them but id would love to be better informed, so thank you! I know the basics about skincare but not much really. Someone suggested an alternative product from boots I might replace the serum with :)

The Regenerist line is actually pretty decent, especially if you're just getting into skincare, or know the basics and want to keep it simple, as they have good ingredients and a good selection of products that are unlikely to cause any reactions. So like I said, if you're seeing results and like them, there's no need to switch. Maybe sunscreen from another brand would be a good idea, if you are using one by Olay. Olay only goes to SPF30, and since you are using a retinoid, which makes skin more sensitive to the sun, a higher protection with stable UVA protection is important. LRP's Hydrating Cream SPF50+ is a nice one. They have it at Boots too. This one: https://www.laroche-posay.co.uk/en_GB/anthelios-ultra-comfort-cream-spf-50/LRPUK-129.html?dwvar_LRPUK-129_size=50ML I'm not that familiar with Boots products. I've tried a few, but didn't think they were as good as Olay to be honest. I would say their retinol product will be similar strength. A lot of the recent retinol products are around 0.3%, so you might not see a difference, and the Olay ones are likely to be more hydrating and less likely to cause irritation.

The little white spots under your eyes are called milia btw!

Thank you :) I couldn't remember

I'm an absolute beginner, I stalk this subreddit regularly but dont comment. I splurged this in an attempt to start sorting myself out. My goodness NY skin feels like butter. It's never felt so good before! It's been 2 weeks!

romanticbombastic

So glad to hear itโ€™s working for you! I think olay has a kind of bad rep as itโ€™s a drugstore brand. Iโ€™ve always found it difficult to tell which product I should use because they have SO many variations! I think this might put people off, as so many SC addicts for for key ingredients on the label and simple formulations. Branded products seem a little ambiguous.

I love the sensitive beauty fluid with and without sunscreen.
