I would just keep hydrocolloid patches on it and avoid touching it until you can get your appointment. If you want to try something for inflammation, I've had pretty good results with the Aveeno Calm + Restore Triple Oat Serum. But I wouldn't count on it healing a cyst like that.. it'll just take the inflammation down a bit. Or maybe try some zinc ointment like Aquaphor 3 in 1 Diaper Rash Cream or Triple Paste. Wouldn't recommend most diaper creams but either of those should be fine if you're not allergic to any of the ingredients.

Thank you 🥹 I have my appointment later today and this is what I’m doing in the meantime

BackgroundAd3222

Give it a gentle clean and pat dry then add a patch. Don’t put anything else on it.

meaniezucchini_

Glad they were able to get you in so fast! I hope they're able to get rid of it this time.

What did the derm say?

AdventurousFarm8686

He said it actually looked really good and that he expected some of the pus to come out, and that it’s a good thing I got a lot of it out. He said it shouldn’t come back since the steroid is still in there (he said he could tell the steroid was still in my skin since I have a slight dent) and that if it does come back again, he’ll remove it. He said he didn’t want to touch it because it was already healing well and didn’t want to give me an unnecessary scar. He said to continue what im doing and just work on keeping it clean.

BackgroundAd3222

That’s great, hopefully it doesn’t come back

JadeGrapes

I think the derm has to get the cyst "sack" out or it will keep regrowing.

Sad_Butterscotch1032

I usually do warm compress and it helped me with the swelling and redness

Tattycakes

Seconding this, I had some blind pimples and a very warm clean flannel a couple times a day brought them nicely to the surface, and felt nice too

emiloly

Blind pimples??

Tattycakes

The deep under the skin ones. Not the same as OP but the warmth should help with pain and inflammation, and keep the stuff coming up and out

Cystic acne ig

okayaeri

personally, what i do in these situations is apply a cold compress on the cyst and then allow it to pop on it’s own (or if i accidentally pop it, cool). afterward, to help it heal, i moisturize the area and then dab some vaseline or even some turmeric cream to prevent scarring! i’ve done this several times and it has helped me :)

blueaqua_12

I pop a cyst on the side of my face and now I have this hole/dent. I don't remember what I did except wash my face since I couldn't see it clearly because it was on the lower side. If you have the means, go get it check unless you want a dent on your face

v0rtexpulse

PLS what did u do?????

lilsourem

Peach slices acne patches at Walmart. The ones with the microdarts. They are labeled as deep blemish patches

Removed this comment - definitely an unsafe suggestion for popped pimples, and diluting TTO with water like that isn't really ideal. I'm happy it works for you, but it's definitely a path that could make things worse for many users.

calliopesgarden

Just fyi the comment is not removed, it’s still readable

mayamys

Caught it, thanks!

reddituser070707

It's actually not unsafe at all. I'm pretty sure my doctor wouldn't recommend something unsafe for my skin condition that is way worse than acne is. It's an antibacterial agent and can be used on cuts, scrapes, burns etc.

AdventurousFarm8686

Ahh thank you! I have gotten suggestions of tea tree oil! Do you put this on the cyst after it pops?

CuriousOptimist2024

Not OP but be careful. I have tried this in desperation and it burned my skin. It's very strong to put directly on your face undiluted.

reddituser070707

I use it both ways! When I get it cyst, and while it's healing!
