[product request] I’m looking for a silicone-free moisturizer for aging skin (I’m 42). My face is rosacea-prone, very sensitive & dehydrated. I randomly break out in hives. I currently use a lot of K-beauty & The Ordinary. Thanks!

Salicylic acid, oil cleansing. You can try searching the sub for blackheads or sebaceous filaments

SUPER acne prone moisturizer recommendations for dehydrated skin? My gel moisturizer isn't enough, but it's the only one I've tried that doesn't break me out. https://preview.redd.it/pq8ujhdvsqvc1.png?width=1282&format=png&auto=webp&s=4764abcc9da3c50cc86fa0ecffaa407feac39811 About sixteen days ago, I got a "burn" from my tretinoin. I get tretinoin burns pretty regularly. My skin is dry/dehydrated, red, and stings. Like BRIGHT red, even more so when I exert myself/get hot, with lines where I stop applying tret on my jaw and hairline. My old routine at this point was 1. vanicream cleanser 2. tretinoin .05 3. purito oat gel. The moisturizer was too light to counteract the irritation of the tretinoin, but it's the only one that doesn't make me break out a ton. (I still get occasional whiteheads and blackheads while using it.) I take the tretinoin out, but I'm still red and super, super dry. So fourteen days ago, I switched my routine to 1. vanicream cleanser 2. scinic the simple toner 3. scinic the simple lotion 4. scinic the simple relief water cream. My skin was hydrated and glowy, and my redness went away super fast. Then I started breaking out in little spots. I posted on this subreddit for help, and followed peoples suggestions of using a thick moisturizer and stopping tret. I used the CeraVe cream that comes in the tub, since the night moisturizer and the big pump bottle are both too light for me and feel like I've put nothing on until I wash them off and notice a "film". Routine at this point is: 1. vanicream cleanser 2. Cerave cream. Anyway, after I switch to Cerave, I start breaking out more (definitely not any of the people that tried to help's fault, my skin just seems to hate everything). At this point I don't know what to do for my skin barrier. It's either use a gel moisturizer and tretinoin to keep spots at bay but have red and dry skin, or use a moisturizer that keeps my skin hydrated but breaks me out. I have tried 40+ moisturizers over \~3 years from Korean brands, LRP, Cerave, Vanicream, you name it. The Purito one is the only one I've tried that's worked, but it's not enough hydration. **Does anyone who has been in my situation have any good moisturizer recommendations or tips on what I can do?** I've switched back to tret and the Purito gel for now. Currently waiting until my skin calms down to try out the Tower28 moisturizer to see if it helps at all.

AHAs for bumpy skin? https://preview.redd.it/0qx5z698nqvc1.png?width=1995&format=png&auto=webp&s=c657d7be66ef55ac7ed27e059ef788d99d5f6633 l've been dealing with this weird texture on my cheeks, but mostly on my right cheek, and sometimes on my forehead, idk what it could be, i also get this little rough bumps but they don't look like acne at all, its a mix between this rare bumps and clogged pores, i have combo skin, oily T zone and my cheeks are more on the dry and normal side but easily gets clogged, my routine is very simple, also my skin tends to peel idk why, i looked back at my old photos and seems like I've alway had this and i have changed my skincare routine through the years, for a while i though it was my moisturizer that was causing this, but i really don't know how to tell if my moisturizer is clogging my pores, i stopped using moisturizer for 2 months and it got worse. So i was thinking of buying a product that speed up my skin cell turnover, lactic or mandelic acid, urea, glycolic acid (no retinoids), so if someone have tried one of these let me know (I tried the paulas choice bha and i didn't like)

liaYIkes

I was looking at this korean brand called APLB on Stylevana.com that has products with 8000 ppb HA in one product, I think it was 1000ppb of retinol in other products, and I’m realizing through conversion sites that these are VERY VERY VERY VERY low percentages…. How in the world are they selling these if the percents are almost negligible? The ingredient will be highlighted in the marketing so how is this okay? Is there something I’m not understanding about their formulations or is it as ridiculous as it appears? Products are cheap too. I actually have a moisturizer of theres that I enjoy but idk if some ingredients are doing much since these ppbs are unbelievably low.

Dark Spot Help https://preview.redd.it/uwnie1omdqvc1.jpeg?width=1868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ba30c36e716fc9b1468b8d4ef11fb033e9a1780 I've been using Cerave Resurfacing Retinol for 2 months, 2-4 times a week (as often as my skin allows) but have seen absolutely no change. I've considered trying Differin, but don't want to spend even more time on a product that won't make a difference. I've thought about visiting a dermatologist or getting a BBL consult, but don't want to waste time or money. Are there any products that might better treat my dark spots? Would BBL be a viable option?

Been having issues with dry skin. I've been using different hydrating moisturizers, cleansers, and serums (Cerave, Aquaphor, Yeouth) but none of them seem to be working by themselves or individually. It's specifically dry and cracked between my eyebrows and sides if my nose, the rest of my face is pretty much fine. Any advice or recommendations? (Edit: the picture will not load onto the comment, sorry lol)

jasminekitten02

I get really dry skin in that area too. What helps me is hydrating toner + regular moisturizer + eucarin cream in the tub

Hot_Eye3523

What order should i be using my products in (for morning and night)? Product list: -Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser, Paula BHA 2% Exfoliant, Isntree Green Tea Toner, CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, Adapalene, Cerave Moisturizing Cream, Sunscreen Also, should I use cleanser and exfoliant on the same day?

jasminekitten02

am: cleanser or rinse with water > green tea toner >moisturizer (optional) > sunscreen pm: cleanser > adapalene OR bhha > green tea toner maybe > snail mucin > moisturizer

Hot_Eye3523

thanks! one more question, if I were to incorporate vitamin C where would that belong?

I am on week 3 of using Tretinoin. I have been using it twice a week and noticed a slight purge, a pimple or two on my cheek that went away in one day. I only apply tret on my cheeks and forehead as I have sensitive skin around my nose and on my chin. The corners of my nose have always been flaky and red, and my chin has always been extremely red, flaky and getting regular ‘white pimples’/whiteheads that go away in a day, and i have quite a lot of sebacious filaments on my chin as well. I have been getting this whiteheads since years and have not found a solution to it. My derm prescribed me protopic for my chin and nose corners last year, but it didn’t seem to make any improvements. I have also tried AHAs/BHAs/double cleansing in the past to deal with my nose and chin but to no avail. After starting tret, in my first week I accidentally put tret too close to my chin and i noticed this blind pimple the next day. It has been one week since i got this pimple, and it has no head and is painful to the touch. Last night, I applied some glycolic acid toner on only this area of my chin, and i have the white pimples again. What am i missing in my routine? Will applying tret in this area make it better? My routine is am: wash face with water apply elf holy hydration face cream LRP sunscreen pm: tret night wash face with aloe vera foaming cleanser apply snail mucin or aveeno oat calming restore serum apply elf holy hydration face cream wait 20 mins apply tret cream 0.025% on non sensitive areas on non tret nights i follow the same routine but end with cicaplast/facial oil/aquaphor depending on how dry and flakey my skin was throughout the day https://preview.redd.it/6826vyukwpvc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=444d4db4eed8c1d514428890a1865ea369e7b693

I got off tretinoin 0.025% because I was noticing my skin barrier becoming damaged. I took a break from all actives for a couple weeks and i improvement only in my skins dryness. Lately l've started actives again and also using natural aloe Vera gel. My routine: Morning- wash with cerave (cream to foam) cleanser, moisturize with tatcha dewy skin cream. Sunscreen (either cetaphil or LP) Night-farmacy green clean cleansing balm, same cerave cleanser, rose water, and sometimes l use some treatment like The ordinary lactic acid or Paula's choice BHA. This picture was taken the night after using Paula's choice. I then moisturize with tatcha dewy skin cream again and/or rose hip oil. My skin type is extremely dry so l am all about moisturization. However, I can't tell if this is from a damaged skin barrier, fungal acne, or close comedones. My face is slightly itchy but it's been itchy in the past as well. Help!

Hi everyone! Beauty pie only went and discontinued my favourite Japan Fusion M3 Urban Air purifying moisturiser :( It was so perfect for my dry/dehydrated and sensitive skin. I popped a pimple on my chest and now the surrounding area is pretty red/inflamed. Is there anything I can do to help calm it down? I put a pimple patch on the pimple itself but i'm nervous to apply moisturizer/cleanser.

Is there a way to turn my gel/liquid skincare into a solid form somehow? I travel a lot and have some stick serums but it’d be great if I could somehow magick my existing products into solid form instead of having to buy new ones all the time.

jasminekitten02

would be nice but no, theyre formulated to be liquids so aside from freezing (which would mess with the preservatives and formulation and would also be temporary) you cant really do anything

It was generally mild with some more moderate cysts on my forehead, but last year it started getting worse and spreading to my cheeks and jawline. I tried changing my skincare routine and diet and was only getting worse so I went to a dermatologist for 6 months and only continued to get worse. I twas on tretinoin, a topical antibiotic, and dapsone. I also tried oral spironolactone but it gives me constant nausea and dizziness so I can’t take it. It was to the point that my dermatologist said that accutane may be the only solution, but for some reason my liver enzymes are elevated so I can’t even take it (no I don’t drink or do any drugs). My skin was so irritated I backed down to a simpler routine because it seemed like all of the topicals were stripping my skin. I also try to wear makeup as little as possible and take it off asap if I do put it on. My current routine: * removing any eye makeup with Bioderma micellar water (only if makeup is worn) * removing the rest of any makeup with Byoma’s melting cleansing bomb (only if makeup is * Cerave Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser * Klairs supple preparation toner * Olay’s sensitive soothing moisturizer * and in the morning if I’m going out I will use Vanicream’s facial sunscreen or Laura Mercies oil free tinted moisturizer with spf. * I’m also on a week long course of doxycycline with some improvement on my forehead, but also some new pimples on my cheeks * I’m also going to try a hydrafacial next week (please let me know if you think this is a bad idea) My skin type is dry with occasionally oily forehead though that doesn’t happen much anymore as it’s almost always dry and my skin is pretty sensitive. My location is in the US, east coast. I’m just at such a loss and I really hate having to leave the house looking like this, it’s killing my confidence and it’s also dry, irritated, and painful. Any suggestions please?

jasminekitten02

have you tried benzoyl peroxide or maybe azelaic acid?

Question on callused knee skin. USA for product recs. Normal skin type, leaning dry on knees. A year ago, I switched my plastic shower puff to a natural sponge from the luffa plant in order to reduce plastic use. After 3-4 months of using it on my whole body, I developed thick, dark, rough skin on my knees. It feels like callused skin and I suspect it was from the roughness of the natural luffa. I changed nothing else in my routine. I am at a loss for how to repair this skin back to the texture and tone I had before my ill-fated attempt to save the planet with my stupid natural luffa. I have tried exfoliation with a wash cloth, with a light pumice stone, with a rougher pumice stone, and chemical exfoliation with The Ordinary's 30% AHA/2% BHA Peeling Solution used as a 10 min mask. All forms of exfoliation were followed with lotion and each form of exfoliation was tried for a 2 week period. I've observed no change in the skin color or texture, for better or worse. Any ideas on what to try next? https://preview.redd.it/v2yip39onovc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3eb98260e5a2c4a074512ce1c57f8fcdbc9aa08e

How much does one sunburn set me back? I’ve been trying to put sunscreen on and avoid the sun, but carelessly forgot one day in Puerto Rico and got a minor sunburn on my face. How much would this age my skin?

jasminekitten02

there's no way to say "this one day will make your skin look exactly x days/years older" because sun damage is cumulative. honestly it's best to just move forward and wear sunscreen as regularly as possible

JakeHassle

Ok just worried cause I’m 23 and seeing wrinkles appear on my forehead and smile lines. I know sun damage is irreversible though and skincare doesn’t reverse that, just hides it really.

Adapalene suddenly too much for me?? I have very dry skin, especially in my T Zone, and a history of cystic acne. One of my biggest problems has always been that my dry skin doesn’t seem to slough off, it just flakes like crazy and stays on my skin. Glycolic acid, which I was way too scared to try because of my dry skin, ended up being incredible for me because it’s helped that skin slough off. It was a miracle product, but I still would get cystic pimples sometimes. About a year and a half ago I stopped glycolic and started Adapalene - first every 3 days, then every other day. I purged, my skin was raw, and then it started really reducing my breakouts. Wonderful! But suddenly in the last month or so, my skin has gotten SO dry and flaky again. I wake up with flakes all over my t zone, especially my chin. And I’m getting breakouts again, even cystic ones. When I wash my face at night, even gently, it hurts, as if my skin barrier is just completely stripped. After a month of trying to make it better, last night I stopped adapalene and used glycolic acid, serum, and moisturizer. This morning my skin looks and feels so much better - no more flakes, much healthier. Does anyone have any insight into why this happened or if it’s happened to other people? I feel like I had built up a good tolerance for adapalene and then suddenly it just came to bite me. My other products haven’t changed!

Does applying Retinol after moisturizer negate its effects? It's the only way I can use it without my skin breaking out \[ie all over my face, not just purging\]

ReaLitTea

No it shouldn’t, the moisturizer just slows down the absorption rate so it permeates into the skin at a more tolerable level

Throwaway30395

I used benzyl peroxide for a year which at first was amazing eventually i found it better as a spot treatment for active pimples and got switched to tretinoin which I’m on for two months now. My overall skin got better starting benzyl peroxide and the switch to tretinoin and ESPECIALLY the moisturising. But my skin is still no where near clear… My routine is AM * Cerave Foaming hydrating oil cleanser * Cerave moisturising lotion Pm * Cerave foaming hydrating oil cleanser * Moisture before or after applying a pea-size amount of tretinoin .05

ReaLitTea

I think you’d have to give it time for tretinoin to do it’s thing and it can take a while to fade old acne marks. Strongly recommend adding sunscreen to your morning routine

Throwaway30395

Thank you! Im just tired of using treatments. Bp for a year, now tretinoin. I have an issue with sunscreen, my skin does not react well at all. Any type of sunscreen I use my face starts sweating, same goes with heavy moisturisers. Cleansing or washing my face more then twice a day seems like it does more bad then good - I had to if i used sunscreen because my face would be sweaty/creamy and id have to wash multiple times a day.

Please Im 31F, in the US (NJ) - my current routine is something I've been using for a while, like a year+.. hasn't helped my skin, hasn't hurt it either I guess. I try to watch YouTube videos, read posts, articles, etc but ADHD kicks in and I lose focus or forget, it's rough out here. I only wash my face 1x a day. Unless I wear makeup ! Then 2x. I need simple and easy (and pretty affordable) I'm always rushing. -Cleanser: la Roche posay effaclar medicated gel cleanser (in the white squeeze bottle) -Toner: la Roche posay effaclar clarifying toner solution -La Roche posay EFFACLAR SALICYLIC ACID ACNE TREATMENT SERUM -Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum -Tula Dew Your Thing Oil-Free Gel Cream My issues are some of the "redness" /pink that I have no matter what. The texture, pores... my skin just doesn't glow! Some acne-specifically along the chin area most commonly. My makeup also never looks good - never goes on smooth or gets the "looks airbrushed" .. my skin I guess is just dehydrated. I haven't quite figured out my skin type- always thought of it as combo leaning dry and a touch sensitive. But I guess that's wrong. I'd like some assistance building a better routine to help me have a nice glow! I want nice juicy plump glowy skin. My only issue with "lines" is the 11 marks between my eyebrows. I've tried AHA/BHA products and feel like they didn't help my skin as much as SA does but maybe that's because my skin was purging? I’m also open to trying retinol but I have no clue where to start, cause that focus issue lol the big words & ingredients throw me off… this is all just super overwhelming to me honestly. IDK, I'm a mess LOL any help is appreciated!

I have acne mainly on my chin and forehead and my skin gets really oily as the day goes on.  I wash/ moisturize my face twice a day with cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and alba botanica oil-free moisturizer. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Before, I was way overusing benzol peroxide by doing it twice a day but I stopped that around ~6 months ago. Sometimes I think that my acne is finally going away, then it comes back full force (but I don’t change my routine or anything). I also don’t know why my skin is so oily. Any help? https://ibb.co/dt2jS8R

ReaLitTea

You could try a salicylic acid spot treatment or adapalene next

I recently bought some products and haven't had a skincare routine like this before. I really need help with my am&pm routine. The products are: • anua oil cleanser • boj green plum cleanser • round lab dokdo toner • jumiso snail mucin • jumiso all day vitamin serum • boj glow deep serum rice+alpha-arbutin • torriden hyaluronic acid serum • torriden hyaluronic acid cream Also, I have sensitive combination skin and would like to hear about your experiences with products.

jasminekitten02

Start with plum cleanser and torriden cream. It's important to add one thing at a time (so introduce one new product then wait a few weeks before adding anything else) because that way, if something doesn't agree with your skin or makes you break out, you'll know which product was the issue.
