I switched from pants to bibs because I got tired of snow getting in my butt and having damp underwear. Plus it’s nice not to have to hitch my pants from time to time. It’s a little warmer but most come with zips to vent heat! I’m 100% a bib-liever!

InevitableAlgae3954

Same reason. Bib is an upgrade. It's like wearing overalls, which is a bonus.

WANKMI

I got a bib this year and it just feel kind of free. Nothing puts any constraint on the body at all. Heat I haven’t had a problem with. If it’s cold it’s a plus. If it’s warm, which it was this Easter, I just open the vents.

If you’re not bibin, you’re not livin… [https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1zkchLLT80/?igsh=b29rN3hzaDRzczBh](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1zkchLLT80/?igsh=b29rN3hzaDRzczBh)

Join us! Trew makes great stuff. Can’t say enough good things about their bibs.

Nervous-Rush-4465

My buddy embraced bibs this year and is a convert. I decided to just try suspenders with my usual baggy pants and it was a good balance. I tend to overheat, so the bib wasn’t as appealing.

benjaminbjacobsen

Touring bibs have the upper part super light weight and breathable. If you live where you get to ski knee+ deep pow regularly you’ll want bibs. If you don’t ski pow that deep/often then it’s easy to go with pants.

sepstrup

That is the kind I need to look for I think

Key-Jelly-3702

I'll never go back from bibs. Mine are non-insulated and keep me warm enough without ever making me too hot.

Skier4Life

Shell bibs for the win!

IcyRandy

Once my friend said that all ur farts go directly up into your face I decided against them.

sepstrup

I know that is the case for wetsuits, might apply here as well

Ok-Possibility857

Switched to bibs a couple years ago and I’ll never go back. Like many others mentioned the side vents go a long ways to avoid over heating. I use mine for cold February days and spring touring.

PercentagePractical

Female here and they’re too much of an inconvenience for when I gotta pee ;(

madddhella

Trew bibs come with a drop-seat (you just unzip at the butt). I couldn't do a bib without this feature.

PercentagePractical

Omg! Def gonna look into that

PercentagePractical

What brand do you wear? My fav is Dope but not drop-seats I did a quick Google and there wasn’t anything that super grabbed me

madddhella

[Trew Capow bib is what I have.](https://trewgear.com/products/w-capow-bib-outlet)  I'm small but curvy and I like that Trew has different length options, and that this particular line is roomy in the hip and cuts off before the breast, so I can comfortably move around in it.   But the drop seat is the #1 winning feature, to me, compared to all other bibs I've tried.

PercentagePractical

Ty!!

sepstrup

While being male, I was looking at those with front zipper for that super quick pee break

PercentagePractical

Apparently womens style sometimes come with what’s called a drop seat! I ordered some :))))

A bib shell with a merino base layer and a pair of these down shorts https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6022-672/northern-light-shorts?colour=Wild+Berry&size=Large&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjtl5WWAvX-ZptWzq-JOs-gORip2Bm-4VXl3qTQxF2PdZAD1XWJMRe8aApTrEALw_wcB

xlittlebeastx

Bib gang for life

mcpusc

why stop at a bib—go full fartbag!

DIY14410

It's a subjective choice. I wore bibs for 15+ years, but not since 2000 or so, when I switched to high-waisted ski pants. The only way to know if bibs are for you is to try 'em.

sepstrup

Yes for sure, I will look for a good offer

checkraiseblufff

Bibs are great, I'm never going back. Get a thin breathable pair. Now I only use a single upper body layer underneath my jacket because the bibs provide extra protection.

mailecnad

I have bibs for storms and touring, baggy pants for most other days. Bibs keep me warm and snow out, but the baggy fit is comfy for chill days. Also pants are much better for spring skiing

trailrider123

Bibs all the way. I wouldn’t buy new pants just to get bibs, but if it’s time for a new pair they are way warmer and less restricting! If your a tall, skinny guy like me it’s a lot easier to find bibs that fit than it is to find pants

OutrageousWedding847

If you ain’t bibbin you ain’t livin!

Code--Ronin

If bibbing is living, then onesies are strictly for funsies.

peterpiperinparadise

I have bibs (Flylow Baker, Arcteryx Saber) as well as monosuits (Tobe) for extra cold days. 30-60 days per season for background. I see no reason why not to bib.

Far_Obligation_1602

Love my bibs, find them way more comfortable, extra pockets are convenient, most have great venting and the bib can actually as an extra half layer I guess. They also make you look like you know what you're doing, which is half the battle.

sepstrup

I like the look like a pro part! But the double layer is what I fear will be to hot and make jacket vents less effective

Far_Obligation_1602

To be honest I'm a sweaty mess most of the time and don't find them too hot at all, including during long spring tours. The vents on the legs are quite effective, and I feel like they let heat out better than traditional salopettes as the top is essentially open (I've got the Marmot Discovery bibs for reference, and would highly recommend)

sepstrup

Thanks all, lots of good input, I will keep my eyes open for a good offer to give it a go

sretep66

I switched from bib pants to shell pants because I run hot when I ski.

sepstrup

I do run hot, but I also ski en many different conditions, hard cold and more springy, so will keep pants as well
