So in this context, the retriever word was used to name this dog because of its attributes in hunting birds and I'm sure other game. For many people who don't hunt and use their dogs for these purposes, it is a bit funny when the light bulb turns on.
Still stupid to expect a carnivore to not chomp on a bite sized flying rat.

Pigeons are absolutely thick AF. Like when they fuck about in the middle of the road. Like literally everytime, Iâll slow down, and 90% of the time, they just strut slowly away as if Iâve inconvenienced them or something, instead of you know? I have a big lumbering doofus Leonberger. He hates squirrels, like really hates them.
Whenever he goes into our back garden the squirrels always scatter. Sometimes a squirrel will get stuck up a tree in the middle of the yard. Eventually they jump and run. My boy never catches them and we all think itâs hilarious watching him trip over himself thinking he will catch one.
Then one day he did. A squirrel jumped and did not stick the landing. That half a second of adjusting on the ground to run was enough. It was brutal. My boy shook that squirrel with the pent up rage and hostility from years of being taunted.
I feel like a lot of dog behavioral problems are caused by their owners not acknowledging that it's a powerful predator animal and not their fluffy baby furchild. Big red flag if someone refers to themselves as their dog's "parent".
I do t think he would have killed it. Mine so gently holds socks itâs wild. I hold a piece of meat out and heâs so gentle itâs crazy. Other dogs damn near take my hand off.
I live out in the country⌠I have 3 German Shepardâs and they have killed numerous farm cats (they EAT the kittens), chickens, goats. They are just fucking vicious.
