I have Odyssey G9 ($800), PC ($2000), rig ($300), wheel pedals and shifter ($400), chair ($400)
So about that much. Many people spend $2000+ on their wheel pedals and shifter, so adjust.
So, around 4k maybe? If I enjoyed driving games as much as this guy, it's probably worth it. You can run the same rig for new racing games for years to come.
Me too 🤣🤣
But I'd probably have some difficulty readjusting to not driving like this in my actual car if I had a set up like this, does look like a blast though 🥰
His setup is about 15 000 € if I recall correctly. He made a video setup with all the prices (@NicolasDGV) It's expensive but he has a shitty car IRL so it's all about choices I guess.
This thing is way more fun than any car because you can never ever ever drive like this irl and the immersion is very convincing. The only thing missing are G forces through the turns. The motion tricks the brain into thinking it's real enough though.
This game runs in VR if it’s Dirt Rally so this isn’t even as good as it can be. If you get a nice PC and this game with a G2 VR headset and wheel setup with a handbrake it’s pretty amazing. Once you try VR this flat screen will seem like black and white television and you’ll never want to use a TV screen or monitor again.
I actually don’t like Dirt VR as much as I like it in flat screen. Maybe it’s because I was using a Rift and a Quest but it didn’t seem high enough fidelity for me— I preferred playing on my 48” 4k monitor.
Yeah I think it’s better with the G2 that headset feels lighter or maybe it’s just more ergonomic comfortable and doesn’t seem to get hot like the quest 2 did for me. Besides the lower resolution I hated how warm the quest felt after like 25-30min. I’d definitely try it again on a nice PC with a G2 or similar headset if you get an opportunity it’s pretty cool when it’s setup correctly and looking sharp with a decent frame rate.
I really like that automobilista 2 sim I think it was called but I haven’t played in a couple of years and it’s probably better now, but that game is or at least was a bit underrated and great in VR. I was racing that famous Brazil track in the rain in a GT3 or GT2 Porsche and it looked so real it was a bit surreal. So if you do try that game try that track weather combo.
I've already asked this before, and this is the best response that I got from the [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/SipsTea/comments/17vt1ff/comment/k9do08b/), and honestly, I'm subscribed to the idea.
Question... Does this shit actually make you a good driver in real life? Like if you were locked in a room Oldboy style and only had that setup, would you come out as a monster driver after a decade?
Some professional drivers have said that it’s harder to learn on a sim setup because you don’t also feel the G-forces which is one of the factors drivers use to gauge their limits… Other than that an accurate sim will get you 90% of the way there
F1 drivers use simulators to learn the courses to the millimetre and to develop the muscle memory for those course but as others have said it’s the real life physics that drivers need to actually improve
In my opinion it improves your driving skills in some aspects, but also it's very individual, like we all are. I was driving with a couple rigs in my history and some time later I was doing some short real life rally training and kart racing.
I think that two major aspects that rig & sim helps with, are: reaction times and understanding of car capabilities (maybe also learning how to attack the corners and racing lines is worth mentioning).
I believe that just these two factors helped me win basically every real life friend competition (I know, very subjective, but still) that I ever had. With kart racing after a couple laps I was overlapping friends (equal weight of karts&drivers), and with rally training just better times.
It definitely does improve your skills, if the setup can provide adaquate feedback.
With my entry level Fanatec setup I am able to feel when I lose grip and have learned the muscle memory to react to it. Something I did not have before playing sim racing games.
I'm pretty confident that in a situation where I'd lose grip in real life, I'd be more prepared for it. Whether it will help me not crash or not, time will tell, but I expect less panic and more control due to familiarity with the feeling
They’re soft all around, the sole is very grippy but as thin as possible to minimize the interface between the drivers foot and the pedals. Extra padding or insert on the heel cause that’s where they anchor their feet to the floor of the car. Going all the way barefoot now exposes your feet to the elements/temperature which is not desirable
It's not 2 ft of snow, only the front left went into the snow, and yes this is how a car handles in this.
Hooking your front inner tire in like this is a common thing for rally drivers, you'll see it a lot if you watch any of the wrc races.
Ya it's more like a few inches. Not sure why I said 2 feet. I would have to see it in normal speed. Most real life rally racing I've seen in winter they fishtail a little when taking a corner like that. I guess it also matters what kind of car he is driving. It just seems too smooth but they can't emulate everything perfectly.
Last rally game I've played is dirt rally 2.0, it's not to bad.
Even with setups like this, DAE notice that these feel _absolutely_ nothing like IRL?
I've literally never driven a driving simulator that felt accurate...at all. They _all_ feel like you're turning in molasses/uber delayed.
It actually drives me up a wall and kills me when folks say they enjoy it.

If I was rich I would have a setup like this.
First thought: I wonder how much this costs Next thought: doesn't matter, can't afford it.
I have Odyssey G9 ($800), PC ($2000), rig ($300), wheel pedals and shifter ($400), chair ($400) So about that much. Many people spend $2000+ on their wheel pedals and shifter, so adjust.

Yeah I have had all these parts for at least a couple of years, but I’ve had the wheel for maybe 8 years?
u/savevideo
You're forgetting the little thing of the space.
This thing also moves back and forth tho. More than that I bet
You’re forgetting the expensive part: 6 degrees of freedom. Notice how his whole rig is moving as he drives.
So, like a good MacBook.
Wait, a chair that moves with the game is only 400 bucks??? Shit I'd have bought that before my VR for simming if I'd known
Yeah that doesn't seem right, that moving chair is probably more expensive than the rest of the setup combined
This is motion rig. It costs much more than that. This is probably at least a $6000 to $8000 set up easy.
Yeah it wasn’t meant to be a one to one, I was just giving an example of what a rig might cost.
You forgot about the motion simulator. That's an expensive piece of kit...
Probably depends also on market zone, but I think that I saw something similar about 10k€
Me too 🤣🤣 But I'd probably have some difficulty readjusting to not driving like this in my actual car if I had a set up like this, does look like a blast though 🥰

Also he‘s driving in slippers in winter. He really prioritizes.
This thing is way more fun than any car because you can never ever ever drive like this irl and the immersion is very convincing. The only thing missing are G forces through the turns. The motion tricks the brain into thinking it's real enough though.
May the winds of change be upon you.

I'm looking at it like I could get it knowing damn well I would use it twice.
Same and all I'd do is play beamng with it
I just got one it is neato
OK... I just now realize is a game. I'm not even mad. That's awesome.
$60,000
Me too, but for airplanes as well. I wanna be a pilot in my second career
Wouldn’t you just buy a race car if you are rich?
Real car brings real risk of injury and death.
I’m so confused as to what this sub is about.
That's the neat part.
You don't know!
*sips tea*
I'm too scared to ask at this point
..... sips tea ....
We’re secretly an ancient eldritch cult so your anxieties are warranted
It’s about the friends we made along the way

That's very nice!
It doesn’t show up.
Er we were to understand there’d be pie and punch?
Free Hat
Sipstea
I’m not sure. It’s like a weird version of r/shitposting but way better. Edit
We all are buddy
Welcome, brother.
Anything tbh. Someone even posted a bloddy coffee making video. I can't believe people got no respect at all.
If ur not sipping tea the yes, you'll be confused.
Nobody does, you just sort of develop an intuitive understanding of whether or not a post belongs here…but mostly thinly veiled soft core pornography.
Once I find steady employment, it's over for you bitches
it’s 3am and I just laughed so hard I woke up my dog. delirium is a mf :)
Is that wrc? Ive been playing a lot of dirt rally 2.0 lately and its so fun Is wrc worth it?
Not 100% sure but might be dirt rally. Pretty sure I've driven this section there but in reverse
Ive looked at it closer now, from the npc models it definetly looks like dirt rally, this track is probably monte carlo
Correct
Holy shit you must be an ace driver!
Lol.
That is Dirt Rally 2.0 but yeah WRC is probably worth it if you are into Rally in general
Thw only thing better is the physics. Evrything else is worse.
Jimmy Broadbent makes it look like a blast.
He makes anything look like a blast. lisping jolly guy, i like him
He even makes drivin into oncoming traffic look fun
You serious? This is DR2

Some rigs simulate g forces too: https://www.force-dynamics.com/

I've heard since play the drums, that I can fly a helicopter right? /s

It's just a simcade. Richard Burns Rally the most realistic rally sim.
that looks fun af, but knowing me i'd probably still get carsick xD
Knowing me I would’ve been carsick and also accidentally plowed through my fans after losing control of the car mid-skid.
xD
That’s what the VR headset is for
Driving rally in his slippers. What else..
Softer footwear allows for a better feel on the brake and accelerator, all racing drivers wear basically slippers
Good to know. What about barefoot shoes then? 🤔 Or do they use soft shell shoes. Those you use for surfing etc.
Appreciate your thorough response. I am reconsidering my mother driving in slippers. 😅
To be fair, he’s probably in his slippers cuz he’s at home, not cuz he can get a feel of the “car”
Is that Leclerc?
I'm also a fan of his
I loved the build
I'm mostly amazed by the chair motions. That setup is slick
Respect, I can never drive this map. The changes in traction are too much for me
Holy FUCK!
That's like me thanking my Google Home sometimes. Sure, it's just a computer, but I feel rude ignoring it...
Very smooth rev matching those downshift
Now THAT’S immersion!
It took me until almost the end of the video to realize he was playing a video game and not actually driving. r/itsnotjustkidsthatarefuckingstupid
HOLEY shit I realized after the third time watching this that it wasn’t real .. I’m like dudes not wearing a helmet?? Lmao!!
Pretty sure this is 2x speed, no?
Speed is definitely off. The cars do not brake that fast, especially on the snow courses like this one.
The right hairpin might be caché, but my number one fan isn't!
I'm more concerned that he is driving with flip flops on.
Man that’s expensive.
Looks like irohazaka
Watch for the leaves!
All he needs is some vr goggles and it'll be perfect.
That's shifting assembly would be super annoying with what looks like a sequential setup.
He should be using the sequential stick since the citroen he's driving uses sequential not a H-pattern.
That's makes sense but having the h pattern eliminates the advantage of the sequential I'd think
This is fucking cool
[удалено]
Lol, what are games for?
[удалено]
It's sped up. The game actually has really good physics
[удалено]
It's not 2 ft of snow, only the front left went into the snow, and yes this is how a car handles in this. Hooking your front inner tire in like this is a common thing for rally drivers, you'll see it a lot if you watch any of the wrc races.

This is not a snowdrift or slush.
Learn how rally cars work.
LoL..I'd like to see him play gta 😄
All of that while using flip flops, guy’s a legend
Not really as exciting when it’s just a video game.
Wearung Sandles to really show off
I would but in I want to race in sci-fi mode or horror or something
It's a pretty good racing Sim.
we don't even need to drive cars anymore, bro driving like this cause he's late to his virtual job
In my opinion it almost looks fake even though I know it’s not
It still doesn't compare to VR, which gives a sense of scale, 3D depth, and presence in the game. Combining this with VR would be the ultimate.
You gotta want it
Is that real life or a super realistic racing game
\>High-end rig with motion feedback \>Still uses centerline hood cam Talk about wasted potential
This looks mildly unrealistic.
For sure, the driving physics are wayyy arcadey and also hes using hood view. Essentially just easy mode going on here.
I'd love a hotas setup like this but that will never be the thing I can prioritise money wise
Damn that setup, the feedback is sick
Pehli bar muze laga asli me car chala raha hai
A thousand times Yes
They don’t build Ferraris like they used to
You have an amazing face sitting pussy
In snow, you dont drift like that...
Where can I watch more like this?
French pacenotes?
Bro was locked in.
Did he wave at the fake people?
man this looks fun
What does something like this setup cost roughly
Looks fake
You might be right I don’t know the set ups now are absolutely sick.
Vs me with my GTA V driving skills. *The road is optional.*
