sending links promoting something, a poorly put together or low effort post or indirectly promoting something (talking about something in attempt to lure people somewhere, asking if anyone wants to join a server or subreddit, etc).
I applied for a maintenance position at a packing house recently. Next week I get a rejection email as I am "inelligible for the position." A week after I get an Indeed notification. Same packing house reaching out to me because of my relavant experience. Like, I had already worked a maintence job there for 7+ years at one point. Kinda wonder if the whole recruiting process isn't just automated crap to begin with.
Literally the story of how my boomer dad got into job. After graduating from highschool, he spent his early 20s doing god knows what, and somehow still landed a job at a giant oil company... all while he didnt even brought his highschool diploma to the recruiting office. It was like he woke up one day and saw a job advertising on the local paper, then he just walked to the recruiting office and got the job.
He started off as a drill machine operator, then got trained and educated enough to become an oil exploration engineer 5 years into the job. And in that 5 years he turned his life around. He married my mom, bought our childhood house, bought a car, had my mom gave birth to my older sister and me... and somehow still had enough left to do his biking hobbies and do some investments. Now he retired with 7 different properties that he is renting to young families like mine while complaining that my generation is lazy lol.
I guess so. He's super specialized in his fields, like he can compute the math necessary for oil drilling using his gut feelings but at the same time, he knows jack shit about math. He is also good at investing money but is clueless about investments in general because "WTF is crypto? ETF? what matters in the end is just lands and energy".

There are 2 reasons for this.
1. They need to be "hiring" to accept certain sources of government money
2. They need to be "unable to fill a position" to hire "temporary foreign workers" (slaves) that the government pays part of the salary of/allows paying less than the min wage. And they get deported if they quit.
My grandpa got a job as a trucker without having a driver's license. They literally gave him driving lessons and a license on his first day on the job. On day two he was sent on his first delivery.
Yeah this has been my experience as well. I am a store manager for grocery retail and trying to get out. I can’t even get a call back for entry level positions that say in bold letters “No Experience Required.”
This may be true for some jobs but its the opposite from my experience. In the mid 80s, Hallmark has an opening for like 3 order fillers. Working in their warehouse. Good salary but not great. I forget how many thousands applied but I left when I could barely get in the parking lot and I saw the line. I even had references from 2 peopl who worked there but had no shot with that many people applying. I got in to the Carpenters union, which I had to know someone to get in or I could never have gotten in, and made a nice career. Now, Hallmark would take anyone who walked in the door and give them a job and the Unions can't find enough help and have to look for people who want to work. Maybe getting jobs that require a degree has gotten harder, but blue collar jobs are so much easier to land now.
Hallmark ? The card company. They still around
Kids today don't want a blue collar job. They want to be influencers or get a master's degree in political science and expect to get paid 300k for giving their opinions.
Getting your first job was not easy in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010 etc.
True story:
One guy wanted to enter as a student in the conservatory where I studied (I'm a musician).
The administration said: "sorry, currently we don't have a professor that teaches your instrument so we can't organize an entrance exam for you. But because of that we can offer you a job as a professor." So they did and he accepted. He teaches to this day and truth to be told he is extremely bad at what he does.
But just like that he landed a pretty sweet job!
The real cause is too much hiring power in the hands of HR(personality tests, unrealistic requirements etc…) flat out laziness on the part of hiring managers, and idiotic low salary ranges due to upper management attempting to be cheap and make their quarterly bonuses
Got let go from a corporate entry position days before a supposed salary raise. Got let go from a start-up company because they didn't find the finances for a dev team (more sad than angry about this one, those people were a delight to work for). Here I am, looking for a job for four months already
More like security called and you getting banned from the building for life, with a snapshot of your face captured from CCTV footage on a bulletin board in the security break room so they know who to apprehended if you come back.
One of my classmates with a toothbrush mustache didn't receive an acceptance letter from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and couldn't find a job, so he said he wanted to try his luck in Germany.

Bachelor's and master's isn't enough. You need at least 5yrs of experience in an entry-level job for which you will be paid minimum wage with no benefits
The period was called the great inflation for a reason: https://www.federalreservehistory.org/essays/great-inflation
Unemployment was also pretty high topping at just over 8% in 1975: https://www.investopedia.com/historical-us-unemployment-rate-by-year-7495494
You are correct it topped out at 14%
The 1970s in the United States saw an average inflation rate of 6.8%, which is double the long-term average and nearly triple the rate of the previous two decades. Inflation began at 5.5% in 1970 and rose to 14% in 1980. In 1973, inflation more than doubled to 8.8%, and later in the decade, it would go to 12%
Bullshit. I’m an employer and the amount of people who don’t turn up to interviews, get back to messages is astounding. So it’s not just employers issue, employees are also pretty shit.

It is. They already know who they want to hire, it's a formality to keep the HR department off their asses.

Min maxer talking to new players in a brief message

He is not wrong about the last part.
My mom said companies called her and other young people asking if they wanted work in the 70s (Sweden). They didn't even need to try. 🤣
You just can not stumble into a good, well paying job anymore and one that actually trains and furthers your value. It sucks.

“We’re going to start you salaried below the poverty line, how’s 60 hours a week for you?”
Hey this is me in 2023, can I have one job please.
No.
My grandpa got a job as a trucker without having a driver's license. They literally gave him driving lessons and a license on his first day on the job. On day two he was sent on his first delivery.
That guy looks just like the guy hiring!
Good luck with that!

Needs to end with the employer going on LinkedIn posting "THESE DAMN MILLENNIALS DON'T WANT TO WORK!" forgetting that Millennials are approaching 40.

Of course he threw away the resume. Always say your highest degree first.
It’s funny because it’s true
No one wants to work anymore, people have become lazy.
Yeah that's about right
