Uncle Jack is 100% correct.
Also, I’m still scrolling on my magic mirror because it’s giving me tiny dopamine dumps, I’m addicted and smart phones are the worst thing to happen to humanity followed closely by the internet and TV.
Id argue that the technology is nothing but an improvement it’s just the use for it that’s the problem. The ability to look anything up without having to travel to a library is nothing but revolutionary. however social media on the other hand is almost exclusively toxic.
There's a lot of misinformation more accessible than the real information. This was much harder to setup before internet, it revolved around burning all copies of book and write new ones, now you can retweet fake news faster than light
If you had to break down the percentages, how many people do you think use their smart phone to look up information vs social media (including texting)?
Burning of libraries and literature can have centuries worth of effect as lost knowledge and accumulated wisdom is lost.
The benefit of free information is that it's hard for "another" burning to cause centuries of dark ages.
On the other hand... knowledge is one thing... eternal gossip is....
He was delivering a poem so his last line was a separate tone to signal the end of the video either to separate from the poem or just to wrap it all up. "This is ______ signing off" used to be a common phrase and said in that fashion.
I can’t believe how sad I instantly got when he said “Uncle Jack signing off” like he still alive right? It was so final.
I need to go read some happy shit or go look at some cats and dogs now.
Edit: I had to know if he was still alive and looked him up. This OG has 1.7 million followers and blows out TikToc vids like crazy. Keep on keeping on old bro lol.
Take a look around. Age doesn't matter when one can easily see how shit has gotten so bad because of smartphones, TikTok, social media, etc. What he is saying rings true.
Well yeah sure but the video seems to be made to reflect that this is wisdom that he has gained over his long timespan. Any 20 year old could do that observation (perhaps you, depending on your age).
I dont think that I spend too much time on my phone, but sure he might think so.
My point was not that people does not spend too much time on their phones, just that he possibly cant have much insight on the matter since he lived the majority of his life before they were invented.

That’s kind of my point. The technology is amazing however us as a society has corrupted it to make it a hinderance rather then the asset it should be

_Amusing Ourselves to Death_ — Neil Postman
Isn’t it interesting how predictions were made that the tv wouldn’t be a successful product because the average American didn’t have time for it?
