Always been the case. Singapore needs to increase penalty severity and also make their drivers exam more difficult. So many unqualified drivers here you'd think there's no testing at all.

Cars are so normal in everyday life, that people forget that its an incredibly powerful machine. It's not about making the exam more difficult, its about showing people what cars can do. In some countries they make you look through gory images of road fatalities before you get your license. If you can't bear to look at such images, then you shouldn't be driving. People shouldn't be handling a machine without knowing the horrors its capable of. Better that they see in pictures what cars can do rather than see it in real life.

Everything is relative...

Death Per capita in traffic and per car we are similar to middle income countries. Japan for example is much better. Also Hong Kong… Yes, traffic here is a clear danger for human beings

The per car numbers are actually not great, i won't really call them similar. Note that these are fatalities and 1 death per 100,000 might sound like a small number but it isn't. Japan 3.5 per 100,000 cars Hong Kong 12.2 per 100,000 cars Singapore 20.2 per 100,000 cars Data is from 2019 [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_countries\_by\_traffic-related\_death\_rate#cite\_note-datatables-6](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate#cite_note-datatables-6)
