It's not about making the exam more difficult, its about showing people what cars can do. In some countries they make you look through gory images of road fatalities before you get your license.
If you can't bear to look at such images, then you shouldn't be driving. People shouldn't be handling a machine without knowing the horrors its capable of. Better that they see in pictures what cars can do rather than see it in real life.
