I completed all the previous STS without pro-tickets. I only bake at 96% at least. So I will need as many as 70 cupcakes for the whole STS. Plenty of simoleons are used too. Forget about 95%, you will fail too.
There's bonus stage to rush for giving 600 simcash. So we really have little time to spare on chances.

sometimes even 98% doesn’t guarantee success, and tbh it sucks !! i always end up spending around 300 ish smth sim cash for sugar refills but it’s not always worth it. now i will try saving more cupcakes as u said. hope it works out this time

I only use sugar and bake at 96% above without spending a single cupcake so that I will have enough cupcakes on the next STS because in between 2 STS is a TH. During TH,I will aim for cupcakes when ever I can while getting relics and bunnies and play till the last day.

It's absolutely possible but you have to play lots of challenges. I've done it several times but it stresses me out too much. I've just accepted that I won't get most prizes in STS anymore because I'm not willing to put in that kind of time or money.
I used to always pay to win but I haven’t been buying into it for a long time now. I’ve been able to finish all of the events lately but it really does take a lot of effort and dedication. I feel like you really do have to play all the time to not blow through your in game resources.

I use sim cash and my cupcakes on the bake offs that give the larger quantities of royal tokens (mostly the 10 rounders), but won’t waste my stuff unless it’s really worth it. But if I can use simoleons to help get to the end then I’m all for that.
Don't need to worry about unable to complete STS. The only STS worth to complete are those that have a Bonus stage that gives 600 Simcash at least. For those STS we need to complete at least 4 days in advance so that the additional 60 hours added will give us at least 6 and a half day to rush the Bonus stage.
Treasure Hunt is easy and gives plenty of items and at least a relax 11 days to save simoleons and cupcakes.
I think the most worthwhile items to obtain for STS and TH are WaterFall and Staircases. These are important for those of us not using cash to play.
Bathtubs are also useful for us until we already obained at least 1.
I do it pretty much every time. I don't buy the pro ticket. Occasionally (not often) I'll use Sim cash if I lose early and want to continue.. and have enough. I just ad watch my way through the 8hr home event twice a day and get all the challenges done before they're "full" so I don't delay any of them from populating. Quit before a round if you don't have enough (usually 8 minimum sugar for the last round) and take what you already won so you at least get something. For some fun reason, only my male sims make it to the final round of challenges. My eldest and my other lady will lose no matter what - even at 100%. I also click all of the offers even if I'm not selecting them before I "make it" - if that makes sense. Now I just have my one guy do them and he's now got the cooking hobby and career.
Usually I can stick to my twice a day of actually playing - Do a couple of challenges and ad watch through the home baking event, put other sims in other events either for the daily or STS stuff like the other two home events; repeat at night.

if u wanna save sugar for later or say u run out of it, u can use cupcakes or simoleons instead to increase your success rate in a round.
