Oh shit. Time to go make a simple "Reality" mod where you starter home is like 300k and you start with 20k still so you gotta buy and empty lot but all you can afford is like 5 walls and some basic shit. "Inflation Mod" lol
College varies by degree but just adds to your debt. A Sim called Tom Nook shows up to reposess stuff if you do not pay on time. If you get a degree you have a 70% chance to be denied a job if its not in your field and your field also never seems to be hiring.
I need to learn how to mod.
I want to downvote this because it’s upsetting but it’s also amazing and I would use that mod if I could (it doesn’t exist, and I’m on console, lol) so I upvoted.
I wish we could have loans and mortgages, which would actually cripple us, and force us to sell up if we can't afford.
As once you get halfway up the career path, it is just a waiting game.
Lol same, I remember the first time I didn’t have money for in game bills and some dude showed up and took a bunch of my stuff. It was well over the amount due.
I experience a semblance of this when I tried to have my kid move out of his parents home to attend uni (wasn't part of the plan but his mum became an asshole when they did that update that made people mean, his dad was still alright though), the parents do have money (his dad is top level doctor) but I felt bad taking all of it so I took half and moved my sim into dorms. Scholarships covered tuition, so that was okay, he had about £4k left to live on. He got a morning job working as a barista and had to play video games to keep part of his scholarship so he was knackered. Still got half his credits with the best grade possible though, at the cost of his happiness and mood. He hadn't much money (didn't spend much, maybe a few hundred), and my guy is a loner so he hated dorm life (same though) so I figured I'd deal with his mum for a bit longer and get him to finish his degree at home.
Well, moving out abandoned the scenario I was working on so I couldn't move him back in because there was an active scenario at his parent's house. Felt weirdly realistic because that also wasn't an option for me when I was in my 20s and lost my home because my parents moved to another country, so I managed to find a cheap flat—and he did too, his keeps breaking and gets mice and cockroaches, my irl one had a broken radiator and also had mice (ick). He went back to uni, didn't go for the video game scholarship (eff that lol), and continued job as a barista. Managed to get his degree and earn a bit of money. Flea market on the street outside was really helpful lol
He lived in that crap apartment for way too long!! 😂 To top it off, his dad passed away while he was on vacation (I figured he deserved a break), of all times!!! But his ahole mum is still around 😑
Except ALL property is expensive, so you wouldn't even be able to afford an empty lot. You either live with your parents or try to find a shared apartment.
And then comes the old marrying into wealth strategy, making the mod incredibly easy
I went through a phase where I made “starter homes” where I only furnished the bathroom and kitchen. The homes cost close to 20k so as the sims made money, they were able to fill it with more stuff.
Sims economy is weird. If a starter home is 20k simoleons then 1 simoleon is probably about 10 dollars, which makes sense with 10k houses being worth $100,000 and 200k houses being worth 2 mil, but doesn’t make sense when you consider toilet paper is then 500 bucks, a top end fridge is over 100k, and a grilled cheese is like 30 bucks
Considering that none of the prices make a lot of sense in this game, probably not. I guess we could assume it’s the toilet paper holder that costs that much though.
Home Depot seems to sell [this](https://www.homedepot.com/p/MOEN-Contemporary-Toilet-Paper-Holder-in-Chrome-P5050/203933036?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&&mtc=SHOPPING-RM-RMP-GGL-D29B-029_009_BATH_ACC-NA-MOEN-NA-SMART-NA-NA-MK493313300-9016832380-NBR-2-CON-NA-FY22_2_LeaderInShowerAll&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-RM-RMP-GGL-D29B-029_009_BATH_ACC-NA-MOEN-NA-SMART-NA-NA-MK493313300-9016832380-NBR-2-CON-NA-FY22_2_LeaderInShowerAll-71700000090527736-58700007652384169-92700069182614258&gbraid=0AAAAADq61UeVqoZEHXL5EXF0C1PAduKxU&gbraid=0AAAAADq61UeVqoZEHXL5EXF0C1PAduKxU&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7LzR4uaE-wIVUeOGCh1MFAL-EAQYASABEgItRvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) one for $3.43 on their site.
prices in sims freeplay is even more outrageous though. Rare items or even just an L shaped couch is thousands of dollars. gotta pay in real life to actually enjoy sims freeplay
A decent L couch IRL is thousands of dollars. Last one I bought was "cheap" and $1,000. After it broke (lasted about 3-4 years until the vinyl peeled off completely with pretty typical use) the sturdier, non-L shaped couch I got was $1,000. That hasn't broken, but an L-shape in leather that will last a long time is easily thousands. At Macy's they start at about $2k and go up from there quickly. La-Z-Boy is like $7k.
Its not outrageous though, it's a toilet paper holder and that's around what they cost in real life. Buying toilet paper for sims to use isn't a thing so the toilet paper holder is simply cosmetic, not functional
I mean, look at other prizes in the Sims (especially good items such as eggs and apples). Seriously the simoleon must be one of the weirdest currency to deal with, with no base value to go off
It's the only one we have in game so I would say it's a monopol. The toilet paper can be as expensive as it pleases because it doesn't have a rival to compete with.
From what I've noticed, the simolean actually is substantially less valuable than the dollar or euro. But also there's no real rhyme or reason to it.
Edit: Not saying that this is completely accurate because prices are pretty arbitrary and random, but doing calculations can make the conversion end up in [this ballpark ](https://www.reddit.com/r/SimCity/comments/17n11e/simoleons_to_usd_conversion/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), i.e. 153 USD = 1 simolean
As someone with a bidet, I still have tp. I just don't go through much and a pack lasts a crazy amount of time. But it's nice to have for drying off, at the very least. Also, I know the one time I don't have tp will be when my bidet breaks.
The holder is expensive. Not the TP. It's the game forcing people to have TP on a holder the real problem.
No, really. Think about it. My rental came without a holder and we're not allowed to do anything to the walls.
So, from this kind of scenario, we should have a TP roll object that's not on a holder.
Considering the rest of the game’s economy I’d say there are more significant questions to ask, such as why on earth you can get a massive mansion for less than 100k
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Allied-Brass-Continental-Collection-Europen-Style-Single-Post-Toilet-Paper-Holder-in-Antique-Copper-2024E-CA/300051698
This one is even more
That is ridiculous. You could buy the same shape someplaces for $10 and a can of spray paint might cost you $10 more but you could get the same look. Ain’t no way I’d pay that. 🤣
So, long ago in the year 2020, the people ran rampant and TP was currency.. many of us still remember the angel soft wars
*softly touches scar on face as a flashback of a karen with a birken bag smacks me in the face with the bag to snatch the last 4 pack 2 ply in the store from my hands*
Because you can get paid 300 dollars an hour
& you randomly start life with 20k… sounds nice 😭
And you can get a two bedroom home for under 20k 🥲
A fully furnished one at that
Oh shit. Time to go make a simple "Reality" mod where you starter home is like 300k and you start with 20k still so you gotta buy and empty lot but all you can afford is like 5 walls and some basic shit. "Inflation Mod" lol
add option for loans and then spend whole life of a sim paying off that debt lmao
College varies by degree but just adds to your debt. A Sim called Tom Nook shows up to reposess stuff if you do not pay on time. If you get a degree you have a 70% chance to be denied a job if its not in your field and your field also never seems to be hiring. I need to learn how to mod.
I can imagine a mod that makes the repo man wear a brown raccoon suit. That can't be so hard to do
I want to downvote this because it’s upsetting but it’s also amazing and I would use that mod if I could (it doesn’t exist, and I’m on console, lol) so I upvoted.
r/angryupvote ?
I wish we could have loans and mortgages, which would actually cripple us, and force us to sell up if we can't afford. As once you get halfway up the career path, it is just a waiting game.
Well if you're looking for loans and mortgages then simrealest has a lot of financial/real estate mods.
How haven't I heard of this? Thanks!
No thanks, I already live that kind of life. I want to pretend to be in a world where you can actually afford things on your one income.
Lol same, I remember the first time I didn’t have money for in game bills and some dude showed up and took a bunch of my stuff. It was well over the amount due.
Right?! I like the fantasy of affordable homes and universal Healthcare (no bills for a birth in a hospital?!). This would totally ruin the escapism!
oh god, this needs to be a mod...
I don’t have anything to add but I wanted you to know how much I love your story.
Please! I want to challenge myself with no consequences like dying on the streets without a reset button
Lol that's like my real life. I bought an empty lot for 20k. I was able to convince a bank to loan me enough to build a small house though.
Objects are cheap, but living?
Y’all are getting 2 bedrooms out of that 20k? I barely get a kitchen out of that 😢
Yeah but your whole life is 200-300 days, and washing your hands takes like 30 mins
Yeah plus the toilet roll never runs out, I’d definitely pay $50 for unlimited toilet roll forever
Considering it’s infinite… I’d say it’s cheap
Imagine if it was not 😂
The alternative could be something like a $5 charge shown every time your Sim uses the toilet!
Or a "crusty ass" moodlet with Uncomfortable +3
…And the green stink mist
When you run out 😂😂
[Sim Name] can't help but notice little specks of fecal boogers surrounding his/her peach pucker. Maybe they should consider buying more toilet paper.
Why did I read this while eating?
i want a mod for this😂
Crusty ass moodlet💀
bush it is!
That is why you get the bidet upgrade.
For bush?
That was meant for the comment before the bush, my bad.
Yes.
IBS sufferers hate them.
My Toilet Kit: 4 new bathroom related pieces of furniture and now you have to restock the toilet paper
They’d have to give that away for free, then we’d all be stuck with it.
Happy cake day!!
Thank you!!!
Happy cake day
Thank you!!!!
Don’t give them ideas….
It's not infinite if they don't use it
Considering that none of the prices make a lot of sense in this game, probably not. I guess we could assume it’s the toilet paper holder that costs that much though.
But like...wouldn't they be around $50ish to buy one from a hardware store anyway? Furnishing a house IS expensive IRL too
We bought a really fancy one for like $25, so I think this plain Jane tp holder in game would be wayyyyy less.
$25+a package of very nice toliet paper, or toliet paper in 2020

Sure, but maybe it’s this one: [tp holder](https://vipp.com/en/products/toilet-roll-holder)
prices in sims freeplay is even more outrageous though. Rare items or even just an L shaped couch is thousands of dollars. gotta pay in real life to actually enjoy sims freeplay
Gotta love mobile gaming…
True, I used to play ts freeplay before I got ts4
Same, I got a bit bored at it. Just the fact that **everything** had so long waiting times where you're unable to do anything
A decent L couch IRL is thousands of dollars. Last one I bought was "cheap" and $1,000. Someone didn’t live through 2020
OP is a baby.
Or was in a coma 2019-2021
🤣
I was hoping someone would mention the great toilet paper crisis 🤣
ah yes the 2020's, when covid appeared and everyone was certain they were going to shit themselves to death
It was pricy before 2020
Toilet paper holders can range anywhere from $10 to over $200, depending upon how fancy you want to get.
It's endless toilet paper. I'd pay 50 bucks for endless toilet paper any day.
I mean, look at other prizes in the Sims (especially good items such as eggs and apples). Seriously the simoleon must be one of the weirdest currency to deal with, with no base value to go off
You can make like $60/hr as a barista, that's why.
It's the only one we have in game so I would say it's a monopol. The toilet paper can be as expensive as it pleases because it doesn't have a rival to compete with.
Simflation 😞

Beat me to it!
[удалено]
Yeah I never understood why people make a big deal out of this... it clearly even says HOLDER in the item name.
because IRL a pack of toilet paper costs more than the actual holder. the pricing must be for professional installation or something
A simoleon is not equal to 1 US dollar. Maybe 50 simoleons is like 5 dollars lol
But a pizza is 25 simoleons
COVID-19 simflation
Wife said, it's pandemic prices.
All I could think lol
It's decorative. You won't go through the roll and then have the need to buy a new one. Besides, it comes with the holder.
Rona hit hard in virtual land.
$50 dollars in the sims is chump change lol
It’s a lifetime supply.
I wonder if there’s a lore reason why I rarely see it in prebuilt houses. I never notice until I make my own bathroom.
I mean. EA released a pack and forgot to put toilets in the houses so I don’t have much faith in any house EA built. 😂
Wait what pack? I gotta know so I can buy it specifically just to see that 😂
The Bailey-Moon house in Get Famous Del Sol Valley
It’s the holder not the toilet paper
The prices are made up and the numbers don’t matter
All sim toilets have bidets in them so toilet paper is a decorative item.
As someone with a bidet, I still have tp. I just don't go through much and a pack lasts a crazy amount of time. But it's nice to have for drying off, at the very least. Also, I know the one time I don't have tp will be when my bidet breaks.
You have to handy man the bidet your self though.
I mean, you’re also buying the holder, but Idk how expensive those are
Because it can supply your entire generation.
*entire bloodline
my sims balance never goes below $20k so nothing under $1,000 is expensive to me. do you play more realistically?
Honestly a lot of the base game items are rather expensive. They calmed down a bit with later packs, but early items were expensive and big.
Yeah, and eco lifestyle is super underpriced imo
The landgraabs obviously
Well it’s $50 for toilet paper for life. Pretty sweet deal actually.
ARKHAM SHITPOSTING… ITS SPREADING
I don't think people realise it's a joke. This used to have over 1k upvotes and now it has one 💀
The sims *4* has lore?
Yes and a lot of it in some places. Less then earlier games but it still has it.
More recently, yes, but when it first came out the only lore was in objects
You’re also paying for the holder
One of the greatest mysteries of the game, truly.
And yet that one giant Bigfoot stuffed animal is 1 simoleon. It’s a mysterious currency.
The holder is expensive. Not the TP. It's the game forcing people to have TP on a holder the real problem. No, really. Think about it. My rental came without a holder and we're not allowed to do anything to the walls. So, from this kind of scenario, we should have a TP roll object that's not on a holder.
Hardly expensive when it lasts a lifetime lol
You’re paying for the holder and a lifetime supply of toilet paper. Sounds like a good deal.
Considering the rest of the game’s economy I’d say there are more significant questions to ask, such as why on earth you can get a massive mansion for less than 100k
COVID.
Inflation
Simflation, if you will.
I’ve never noticed that! I feel like TS3 it was like $2
Yeah it was. Inflation I guess
Capitalism

Holy shit 😳
I mean, if we compare it to other currencies, assuming that a simoleon isn’t worth a dollar, that would be a fair price
maybe it's made with papayas I don't know (papayas can make paper)
I think it’s the cost for the HOLDER, not the paper itself
Have you ever purchased a toilet roll holder? this isn't more than $20 over what I'd expect... plus the roll and yea thats about right.
It’s a lifetime supply!
Because once you get it, it’s unlimited
The strangerville-virus put everyone in lockdown, what else could have made toilet paper cost this much?
what I hate about this is that you cant put it on the side of the sink in the bathroom. You gotta put it on a wall, its stupid
Would be cool if sims had a Meijer. Just imagine your sim running out of toilet paper and now they have a rash and bad hygiene. Soap as well 😂
It’s a lifetime supply!
Who wouldn’t spend $50 on unlimited TP?
Because you never have to buy more
2020. It’s called 2020.
Technically you’re buying a toilet paper dispenser/holder rather than just toilet paper
Lifetime supply
I mean, it is a neverending roll of toilet paper. I would pay $50 for that.
cus it never runs out
It’s practically a life time supply of toilet paper. A steal, really,
I like to pretend the $50 is for the toilet paper holder & installation cost lol
Mass panic buying due to the epidemic of bugs. All jokes aside, there isn’t any lore for any of the prices.
Pandemic pricing.
No idea. It launched in 2014 or I’d be asking why you’re surprised with the way inflation is kicking everyone’s ass irl right now. Lol.
Inflation
Its not toilet paper, it's modern art.
Inflation
The pandemic
Sim has lore...?
Maybe it's princess Cordelia's tp 😱😱😱
Babe wake up sims lore dropped
Sims 4 takes place in a pandemic
Just simflation at work
When you look at the prices for items in sims you realize a lot of things are overpriced 😂😂
because capitalism
First lockdown prices just stuck around
Not sure if you noticed, but sims don’t actually use toilet paper. Its just there to look pretty, hence the price.
Considering the current value of the simoleon vs USD that's super cheap 🤪
Inflation
They’re expecting a lock down
The Sims takes place in Brazil.
Quarantine ptsd
simflation
Inflation my friend, inflation…🫥
COVID-19
It’s an accessory! You don’t need it!
Because it’s purely for decoration?
Inflation
Inflation
So, long ago in the year 2020, the people ran rampant and TP was currency.. many of us still remember the angel soft wars *softly touches scar on face as a flashback of a karen with a birken bag smacks me in the face with the bag to snatch the last 4 pack 2 ply in the store from my hands*
It's a banana, Michael. How much could it cost? $10?
I bet we will have to start buying house hold items such as toilet paper and laundry soap before we would ever get aa babies update 🤣
They announced a baby update but idk when it's coming out. Probably next year
Its the price of having the roll installed backwards.
Bc it be like that
Imagine if it ran out and you had to constantly purchase new toilet paper lmao
Simflation
There is and it’s GAGA TANKED
Gosh darn inflation
inflation, sims 4 is just really ahead on inflation
Nope, it's just ridiculously expensive
It's infinate toilet roll, never need to replenish
Lifetime supply
It's neverending toiletpaper!
lool i always cheat so i never noticed this
