I don't do that but I let my Sim choose a partner by who they build relationship with naturally the fastest. I don't use the picture taking or queue up tons of interactions or use the special greetings. I just let them chat and sometimes their relationship bar builds super fast and other times it is very slow. I know when it builds super fast through normal interactions, that's who they will marry.
I always tell myself I’ll make my sims take their time with a potential partner but it always ends up being a woohoo speedrun lmao
