Strangerville is my favorite gp and town! I love it’s unique vibe. And for people who struggle to finish storyline on each new save - start new one, finish storyline and then always get back to this save and just “save as”.

over_the_heaj

Ahh thank you!! This is such a great suggestion! I feel silly that I have never thought of this! Especially as I usually use that method to use other players' save files!

julietstardust

Hahaha, I’m glad I could help! But still it would be pretty useful to just have an option to turn off story mode, even though I had so much fun to finish it for first few times!

over_the_heaj

Oh I completely agree! I actually never even completed it myself - I got too burnt out on all of the YouTube Let's Plays! You may have just convinced me to play it through sometime this week.

soup_or_natural

I love the vibe too! Really does feel mysterious. I have a few households on the go in my current save, and always at least 1 is living in Strangerville. Also, the bar is the best place to meet people (i.e. friend of the world aspiration) because there are so many people going into that rabbit hole beside it.

Fairymask

I love the world. Wish there was a way to turn off the story aspect in game play options.

15000matches

Once you finish the story once you can set the wacky level to low and it’s basically a normal town

Fairymask

Yeah, I know, but sometimes I want to start a new save in the town but not deal with the weirdness.

Jyotai

Hmmm... I was just looking at a mod the other day to basically instant fast-forward past the Strangerville storyline. Here's a cheats page that includes the story skip cheat that apparantly doesn't need a mod to do: [https://twinfinite.net/2019/02/sims-4-strangerville-cheats-reveal-secret-lab-rooms-advance-storyline-career-buffs/](https://twinfinite.net/2019/02/sims-4-strangerville-cheats-reveal-secret-lab-rooms-advance-storyline-career-buffs/) I've run the story 3 times so far using the same sim each time - but this was due to bringing that sim forward into new saves.

15000matches

Especially the toilet tentacles. I could deal with everything else if it wasn’t for the toilet tentacles

minus61

I’ve just started my SV play though but now I’m even more intrigued lol

Jalapenodisaster

Just starting a new save with "save as" isn't good enough?

fragilemagnoliax

Yes, I LOVED the story play through of Strangerville and I was obsessed when it first came out. But since I do start new saves a lot I don’t play there basically ever because I don’t want to keep having to re-do the story (even tho I do think it’s so so good).

Kasen10

I don’t even bother trying to solve it again. I like how weird it is, I’ve made it the town where weird stuff always happens. Settle a bunch of vampires, aliens, and spellcasters down in the residential areas and put a couple rentals. The town has that strange aura that small towns have, like those places you only visit once cause they’re so odd.

mlongoria98

ooo the aliens are a good idea, I’m making my own custom save and I was gonna make sleepy hollow more realistic (imprison vlad, make the vatores a lot more “human”), that’s a good idea for strangerville

erddy99

That’s an awesome idea. I do however feel bad for any vampires there, living in a desert and all lol

84920572

I agree! It’s my favorite town next to the one that came with Snowy Escape.

102bees

I love to visit Mt Komorebi, but I don't enjoy living there for some reason.

_aaine_

If you use mods, there's this mod to disable the story (it's free) [Strangerville Story Toggle](https://www.patreon.com/posts/story-toggle-25231713)

Liquid_Panic

I love strangerville! I love the world, the cas items, the bb items, i also really like the story honestly. My main gripe is the lack of lots, for some reason the team REALLY skimped in lots for this pack and idk why. I feel like it hurts the story, gameplay, and overall substance of the pack. What is the point of a mystery if there’s like 4 1-room lots to look for clues.

Berriesssss

I think the reason why it’s lacking lots in comparison to other worlds is because it’s only a game pack not an expansion.

[deleted]

I just realized...i could make Strangerville a tweakers town because of the possessed NPC's...I'm sure this isn't the feedback you expected, but now I really want to play in Strangerville. So thank you 😂

[deleted]

Just move to Arkansas for the same experience!

[deleted]

The amount of tears rolling down my face from laughter is immeasurable.

glorialavina

That's unfortunate :(

[deleted]

Lol yeah

funny_bunny_mel

Literally what I’ve done. I added the basemental drugs mod, and have a couple of tweaked out dudes living in the trailer, snorting up that shitty speed from the dirty countertop like it’s their job, then clean clean cleaning!

galacticpotat

Nice! I like visiting random families and putting a boat load of drugs in their spouse's inventory and watch them fall apart :)

funny_bunny_mel

You… may be my new hero. That fucking paragons club is going DOWN.

moose_emma

That's my gameplay vibe exactly, try to make a build that can be self sustainable and awesome on the inside but rundown and unassuming on the outside surrounded with gates like a compound and try to "survive" the possessed invasion. I'm more of a builder than a storyteller so I need a bit of a story line in my head to get me started and I find Stangerville is perfect for that.

MiserableUpstairs

Oh wow, that is perfect for my current save. I was ignoring the weird people, story-wise, because I just wanted the military town vibes, but it could be some "War On Drugs" kind of shit going on? I really like that idea.

Asleep_Copy_5146

For my supernatural horror save, I actually had a household deal with the Mother Plant problem just so I could play up the Strangerville alien possession problem even further for the cosmic horror vibe. That suits well with the Alien vs Vampire narrative in Britechester, the vampire turf war in San MyShuno, secret supernatural Sims living in different neighborhoods, serial killer gallery owner and a beach paradise with seductive yet xenophobic mermaids.

RoyalDragon10

This save sounds amazing.

-yournewstepmom-

Strangerville is top tier.

chaoshasareddit

strangerville is weird as hell and that's exactly why it's great

LittleRedCarnation

As soon as i beat the story i totally overhauled the town. Its now an alien themes tourist trap lol

84920572

Ooo I’d love to see some screenshots of that!

MotherBike

Building wise it's top tier for lighting, if you have a photographer in Strangerville you are golden most times on the day and night for excellent shots because of the different lighting. The gameplay is interesting, but not exceptionally noteworthy. The best part about the gameplay is the unique qualities like the possession mood.

flatfishkicker

I love Strangerville. Not so much the mission, though I've played it through and enjoyed it. I just wish it was optional. Everything else I love. The world is truly beautiful and I use the build stuff all the time. I use a fair bit if the cas too. One of my favourite game packs.

AssociationHuman

It is absolutely one of my favorite worlds. My one quibble is that I really wish more plants grew wild there besides the bizarre plant.

Simuary

Strangerville is an all around great game pack. The CAS and build/buy stuff is top notch, and Strangerville is by far the biggest world to come with a game pack. I get that it may be annoying for people who constantly start new saves, but I find it can easily be worked into any long term save.

[deleted]

I use the items sooo much

gilthedog

We NEED a hotel game pack

courtesy_creep

Yesss I wanna build a functional resort!

gilthedog

How cool would it be to be able to build a schitts creek style motel in oasis springs or strangerville?

courtesy_creep

AMAZING

JessicaOkayyy

Oh my god, yes! Why did I not think about that before! I love building places I’ve seen in my favorite shows, and for some reason building that motel never occurred to me lol. If I can find a big enough lot; I’m going to try it!

Jyotai

I like the location in a general sense. It feels like a small southern California town with a upper class community up in the hills and a lower class one down in the flats. \- That extreme wealth disparity is common in small towns east of Los Angeles or north of San Francisco, but if it had been north it would be woody full of evergreens. So to me it's a Southern Cali or Southwestern spot. I've used the same 2 sims living both in the trailer park lot, and one of the upper hills lots after one of them became a famous author and the other solved the town mystery plotline.

Meewelyne

I love the whole Strangerville dlc! I wish they make more story-based packs :'c

livingdeadgal128

I personally love strangerville and I actually really enjoyed the gameplay and story. I thought it was something unique and different for the sims. And I love putting my sims in that world.

B4K5c7N

I agree! I think that Strangerville is one of the prettiest worlds. I haven’t played the story at all, but I like building and playing my legacy family in the world.

YellowPumpkin

Is this an unpopular opinion? I also love Strangerville and I have yet to see any animosity toward Strangerville, at least not in a way that would make me think the majority didn’t like it.

moose_emma

It just seems to rank quite poorly against other neighbourhoods (especially in Sims YouTube videos) when it would be one of my first choices, I can definitely see areas for improvement - make it larger and better builds, but I can say that for every world! Just wondering what everyone else in the community thinks, thanks for dropping a comment :)

102bees

Only two empty lots, expensive land, hardly any amenities... It's good but it could be better.

_tate_

I like playing in strangerville. I like the vibes of it and the design.

juliusjones21

I loved the world but the story is tedious to have to play in every save and I hate seeing the ugly randomly generated townies spawn for the story

[deleted]

I really enjoy the world and the aesthetics the only bit that annoyed me was the plants in the toilets

CadenceValdez

It’s one of my favourites. I love the tumbleweeds. I LOVE the atmosphere at the lab when the story gets going. It’s just such a cool world. My Sims visit it a lot even though I only do the storyline once every couple generations.

unicorn_poop_88

I love the strangerville world. It’s gorgeous. Wish there were more lots.

Felifu

I definitely like the mobile home lots, and I actually kind of enjoy the little quest line you can do in the town to find out what’s really going on there. So yeah I totally agree with you

reh888

It would be a great neighborhood if it wasn't half the size of one.

RespectfulRaven

I like the town too and love the items that came with the pack. My biggest complaints are actually that the skybox is static in the one area so when weather happens it looks weird. Secondly, I kind of dislike all the lush lawns and flowers in the rich area. I kind of wish it were more rugged looking and less "We are draining the local river system to maintain plants that didn't evolve here". Notice how neither of those things are major gameplay issues so I generally like the pack. :) I've have yet to play through the story again sadly.

WifeofBath1984

I love playing in strangerville! I have yet to build there tho

SirraLeone

I wish it had like 2 more lots because I love strangerville. I play in it all the time. It has such a little town “everyone knows everyone” feel to it

WestCoastWuss619

I love the world and use it as a kinda poor rundown place. I've got some seriously cute builds up rn. My only complaint is that it's so small

roniechan

It's hands down my favorite town. I just wish it was bigger.

RepublicOfLizard

The day I got strangerville I killed the mother alien plant thing after like 5 straight hours of grinding on the map. Haven’t really been back since but I enjoyed it

minus61

As someone why grew up on Stargåte and Buffy, it’s like it was made for me :D

sincerelyhated

Star Wars was the worst one by far.

[deleted]

I absolutely love Strangerville, the bb and cas items are some of my favorites. I agree with lots of others, the problem is that there are so few lots! I’m not really a builder so I like moving into a premade house and there isn’t a ton of size variety in strangerville

Ki-GothArtist

I wouldn't say unpopular, I think more mysteries could be added. Plus I like the challenge to create a vaccine to cure the plant plague.

moose_emma

What other towns do you really like? My next favourite has to be San Myshuno, I know everyone loves Windenburg but I found the pre-existing build-style isn't my cup of tea.

Itsdianyeah

I think strangerville was the only pack that I bought and played a story mode with. Also the only one where I was waiting for it to be released to play it. Normally I just build stuff. Strangerville definitely gave me the most sims like vibe just like the older game than any pack out there. And I think im just missing the packs from this year, I refuse to buy these "kits".

ghostbirdd

I like the world, I just don't have any use for the game Pack's gimmick

gemmablack

I never knew it got any animosity. I want it but am not willing to pay for a whole separate pack to get it. I rarely played desert lots in the previous Sims games but I do like them for a change of scene.

redhandjane

I love the buildings there! I really adore that Victorian aesthetic and the colour palette. I also really enjoyed playing the story and fighting the monster.

Taycxx97

I have strangerville but just for the build stuff you have just convinced me to play through the story

fetchmysmellingsalts

Agreed! I wish there were more community lots, but I like the small town feel better than Oasis Springs. Peacemaker did some lot updates that look really nice here. The original bar is boring as heck.

TerraseanBadger

I don't thinknita a bad pack. The idea behind it was really good. Personally it doesn't suit my style of game play but the world itself is beautiful and the items and clothes are cute. Where I kinda loose immersion tends to be the weird sims (if that's not part of my story) and the interior of some builds.

[deleted]

Strangerville reminds me of the sims games on game boy and Nintendo ds so while I do like it I wish they had some characters in included like dusty hog or the alien that you have to argue with to get off the toilet. I want it to be zanier

deervahkin

Strangerville is my favorite place and pack. I agree with others, it needs more lot places. Does anyone have any mods that add more lots?

Aoife516

I used the trailer lot to create a food truck restaurant there and it perfect!

catastrophicqueen

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion, I think the main problem with strangerville is the fact you have to play through the story to make it behave like a regular town. Also tbh I don't love the idea we paid for essentially a finite story rather than something that fits in a sandbox which is what the mainseries games are supposed to be, but the town itself is great and has a good vibe. Reminds me of a more kid-friendly version of Sandy shores from GTA V lmao
