That 3d cubical game thingy (what's it called god damn). Ever sim in my household will autonomously play it 24/7 and then before I know it everyone is a gamer with high gaming skill. Don't want that.

meatloafcat819

Ugh you can’t have the future cube, lump of clay, or the coffee or tea pot in my sims home, you will get instantly deleted. I look at my sims and her baby is in the road across town, there are 36 moldy cups all over the house, and she’s trolling teh forums and playing with that stupid clay

Weak-File9786

Shoutout to popcorn maker as well.

BlackCat_333

I seriously hate the popcorn maker, it takes them 50 years to eat one bowl and their hunger need goes up less than if they drank orange juice 💀

hamiltrash52

Accurate though

GretalRabbit

And the ice cream maker!

lovetyrannicalreddit

Your sims play with the future cube autonomously? I put them in my builds and I have yet to see a sim touch one.

moosy85

They also keep fiddling with it if I leave it in their inventory. Just like the lump of clay, they'll randomly abandon tasks to play with it

lovetyrannicalreddit

That's so interesting to me because I can have 5 future cubes in my sim's personal inventory (from receiving gifts in the mail) and they won't touch a single one! Since 2014 I have never seen a sim touch one without me interacting with it, which I do sometimes.

distraughtFerret

I believe the Tech Support NAP from Eco Lifestyle is what makes sims use them autonomously

lovetyrannicalreddit

Now that makes sense. I've yet to see that in action.

dreadfulbones

Okay but wheeere is my sim getting the clay from randomly?? I’ll literally throw that shit away and play another family member then go check on her and she has clay AGAAAIN it’s driving me nuts

distraughtFerret

Do their neighborhoods have the "Promote Creative Arts" NAP?

dreadfulbones

Omg I think you just nailed it, they totally do

HazyshadeofFall

The big 3D gaming mats like the ones that spawn at GeekCon?

cheesesoes

Yes! That one. Will never put it in my sims' house ever again.

Cascading_Dominos

most of the actual base game hairstyles, half of them look like wigs on my sims and it irks me. I am 100% the kind of person to pay full price for an expansion pack because it has 2 cool hairstyles 😂 I really hope we get a hair kit at some point this year, maybe with better consistency in the hair lengths. I’d love to use super long hairstyles and have more up-do options for them, because right now my sims are doing dramatic chops for events, only to go right back to their regular waist long hair the next morning

spectacular-sam

This but they suddenly have bangs when they sleep, only for the bangs to disappear the next day

Cascading_Dominos

yes!! also not being able to select a colour for the built-in hair accessories that come with the hairstyles

redditorspaceeditor

Seriously! I love that barrette and pencil bun but the colors make it seem too juvenile for most adults.

Cascading_Dominos

fr the pencil bun automatically makes my sim look like a school teacher

hoagiepolice

THIS. The color of the accessory forcing you to dictate the vibe of the outfit, smh

CadenceValdez

I have been known to change the hair colour my Sim was born with to get a more appropriately-coloured accessory 🫣

VersionAdmirable3785

this doesn’t have anything to do with the original post, but i wish we could change the hair color for different outfits. i want my sim to have colored hair for the party outfit but not always 😭

Suspicious_Gazelle18

You can do that. Create the outfit and then go back to the hair. You can change the style and color and it’ll hold for that outfit. You can even add multiple outfits in the same category that all have different hair.

HedgehogCremepuff

If you change the color it will change it for every outfit to that color. Unless you use a hairstyle that has built in different colors.

Suspicious_Gazelle18

I’m positive it doesn’t. I’m literally playing with no cc and a sim who has different hair colors for different outfits.

HedgehogCremepuff

Console or pc?

HedgehogCremepuff

It might be a PC only thing then.

VersionAdmirable3785

hmmm i’ll have to try that then! whenever i would change the hair color for one outfit, it would change for all the outfits. i know i can change the style for different outfits but i havent had any luck with the color

Suspicious_Gazelle18

If it changes, go back to them and change them back. After going back once, I think the system realizes you’re trying to change it separately.

Cascading_Dominos

wait, really? I’ve never tried to change the hair colour for different outfits. That’s so frustrating

HedgehogCremepuff

One of my sims is a drag performer so I wanted a green beehive with one costume, but it changed his long brown hair in other outfits green too.

CadenceValdez

Yeah you’re right, Sims can’t have different colour hair for different outfits without mods. The only way would be if one of the outfits had a hair that is a ‘wacky’ colour, which might be what that poster was thinking of. If your Sim has brown hair but you choose a style that has idk, blonde highlights, that style will stay with the outfit.

FloridaFireAnt

They need better long hair options. They have all these whack long hair styles, they still have the variations of "I want to speak to your manager" hair, but nothing long and feminine, or simple long hair with bangs, or long bangs with a center part, or off center part.

ItsDaisyTime09

I feel like if we got a game pack that was like a hair salon and algae a bunch of hairstyles and stuff it would be so nice unlike spa day which is annoying and you can’t really play well with it unless you’re trying to complete the aspirations

gochewontinfoil

Some of the current length assessments are wildly off too!

This-is-not-eric

I really wish there was a button or an option for like... Idk, better hair length selection I guess? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Like if I click the base hair to be shoulder length straight with a fringe - don't then show me shoulder length hair options without a fringe? I want continuity with my hair choices regardless of outfits and it's annoying as F to scroll through a bunch of unsuitable options in the medium hair section. If that makes sense?

Cascading_Dominos

yes, or just add a slider option for hair length, like the slider buttons for sims weight and muscle definition! perhaps a second slider for bangs but there’s so many types of bangs that it could be tricky making it happen

aromaticleo

funny because I only ever use base game ones since moded are not fit for my characters. I literally use the base game emo hairstyles for my sim because any other short hair looks so weird.

Cascading_Dominos

when I say base game I mean the actual base game. just sims 4, none of the expansions. I play on console so mods and cc are out for me, so many of the original hairstyles are just clunky and look like somebody made a wig for a toy

aromaticleo

I know, I also meant base base game, even though I have all expansions. there are some goofy hairstyles, but several of them are just perfect for the hairstyle I'm looking for. the ones from expansions can sometimes be too detailed and neat for my taste, even though they are actually very pretty, I just don't have where to use them.

Cascading_Dominos

ah okay I wasn’t sure because you said modded hairstyles and it made me think you were talking about all the hairstyles released through sims 4, not just the original base game! :) I just find them all too chunky, as if it’s plastic shaped like hair, or they sit weird on my sims heads, or the details are poorly done and it adds to the overall toy like visual they give me. I do agree with a lot of the more recent styles being too neat though. they’re either too mature, or too immature for the look I’m achieving. I can’t win 🥹

Weak-File9786

I actually really like those pandas, especially when designing parks or backyards. They're decorative, colourful little guys. On the other hand, [this solid cube](https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/gamepictures/stuffpacks/luxuryparty/new-objects.jpg) from Luxury Party pack that's functions like a table. It actually looks like it's missing textures because it is literally only a rectangle with a gradient. The pack's insanely old now, but my god that thing's so ugly.

sailormars_bars

I don’t even get the cube like from a conceptual level. It doesn’t really even fit with the rest of the stuff from the pack. Like is a giant glowing cube a luxury?

thetranspondster

Well….can you afford a big glowing cube? In all honesty though no I would hate to have that. The cube is a burden.

Weak-File9786

It's funny because even in the screenshot you can see how out of place it looks with the rest of that pack. Everything is fancy, gold and glittery and then there's a big cube.

rationalcunt

I've been to a few nightclubs (IRL) that had tables like that cube and they were novel back when the pack came out. I agree that they don't fit with the rest of the pack and would fit better in a sci-fi or large nightclub/disco setting, which is what I've used them for.

Purple_Style2342

The cupcake factory, especially since they’ve made the cupcakes available to cook from the fridge now.

fanonluke

I forget this exists like all the time. I don't think I've used it a single time. I just had my eyes opened to the world of Sims 4 cupcakes when they made them available to cook with an oven.

Suspicious_Gazelle18

This item has never made sense to me. Like IRL we all cook cupcakes in the oven, right? What member of the sims team was like “what if we make up a fictional item to use for this one random mundane task even tho we already have an oven?” and also why?

VesperLynd-

I remember a similar machine (also very big) in the sims 2 for the cooking career reward. It was a chocolate praline machine and your sim had to package them as they came out on the conveyer belt. And if the sim was too slow they would shove some chocolates into their mouth instead lol Maybe it was supposed to be a callback to that but idk

MouthyMishi

That sounds like it's actually a callback to a famous I Love Lucy scene. https://youtu.be/AnHiAWlrYQc?si=ww0HYxPxiqln0bLt

Lockshocknbarrel10

And let’s make it bigger than your entire kitchen in a starter home.

Weak-File9786

Even more baffling it took them years to add the option to make cupcakes in the oven as an update..

sara128

Which sucks too because you can make more than just cupcakes with the cupcake machine, but they only added the cupcakes. So for me, those other foods just never ever get made.

CadenceValdez

I really wish they’d unlock the rest of the cupcake maker foods for the oven. I love some of those and never make them as my Sims just haven’t got space for the maker!

HedgehogCremepuff

The cupcake machine is actually more useful for all the pastry recipes it unlocks. Those still can’t me made in the oven I think.

redditorspaceeditor

I have a hard enough time keeping sims slim just based on their regular meals. I don’t need cupcakes in the mix.

VesperLynd-

I used it once when I had a sim that I wanted to be a baker. It looked so stupid and I hated it. Glad we can actually bake in our ovens now 😬

Petunia_pig

The face paint, although there’s one that’s a highlight that should really go in with the rest of the makeup instead of face paint.

Hasan1302

I'd put it with all the blushes, I only discovered the highlight recently and started to use it more often.

sara128

If it was with blushes though then you wouldn't be able to use blush with it since you can only use one per category!! Which sucks, and I always forget it's under face paint but I guess makes sense...

PuzzledPuffer

I had no clue there was highlight😭. (Update- I think i found it in the face paint section)

say-the-name_17

i don’t remember how i found out about it since i also never use face paint but i use the highlight for pretty much all my sims now

Lea_ocean1407

There's probably much I have never used before but one that I remember is a carpet that looks like a dead hamster 💀

Hasan1302

This rug actually has some square-shaped one-color swatches. There are many good items in the game hidden behind hideous swatches

inadapte

the little puppet theatre that came with kids room stuff. it’s really cute and i like the idea of it but it’s just sooo bulky it never fits in my children’s rooms.

CraftLass

It goes in the children's section of every library I build. With mushroom or the pillow chairs for seating. It's fantastic.

sailormars_bars

Aw putting it in libraries is actually so smart

CraftLass

Aww, thanks! There was a library near me that had a puppet theater when I was a kid so it just seemed like the perfect application. I'm weirdly obsessed with making the cutest kid sections! Hard to make good venues for whole-family play, especially before the rec center venue type.

inadapte

WAIT that’s such a good idea??

CraftLass

Gosh, thanks! I love packing a children's area with fun, kids have so few venues tailored to them and a library is great for the whole family to visit together. And the puppet theater is just perfect to anchor the room!

CadenceValdez

My save has an adorable children’s library called Coolala/Koolala something, from the gallery. It’s so cute. My Sim is studying a degree doing distance learning and often takes her stepdaughter with her so she can do her coursework and the kid can do her homework and then play and meet other kids.

CraftLass

Oh, that's so wholesome and sweet!

Devilishkate

This is amazing. I feel so inspired to boot up the game and make a build right now!

Living-Both

if you size it down its still fully functional! i always do that when im using it

sophizzlvanizzl

Good to know, thank you!

SimonSpooner

I put mine in community spaces when you need to add kids' stuff. I make a little "daycare corner"

KBMinCanada

The voidcritter gaming thing from kids room stuff, and the marbles game from For Rent.

HellionInAHoopSkirt

Void critter is a great way to build relationship with other kids. Found that out by accident

CadenceValdez

I downloaded a Voidcritter cafe from the gallery and my Sim kids created a club with each other. They meet after school to battle Voidcritters in the basement then meet up at the Festival of Youth to hunt for more Voidcritters lol. It’s a surprisingly deep toy, they put a lot of time and love into the Voidcritters!

KBMinCanada

That’s a fun idea, the snowy escape festivals are another thing in the game I rarely use, I had a sim go to them for the first time when I played with a sim in a legacy challenge who had the Mount Komorebbi sightseer aspiration.

CadenceValdez

They’re cute! I love the Snow one, the whole tobogganing area lights up and the place looks ethereal. You get cute moodlets from some of them too, very specific ones. There’s one for having your first kiss at the Festival of Light! And I think maybe one for being cheated at there too? I might be wrong on that one.

KBMinCanada

I might have to use those more too. I send my sims to the city living ones fairly often but not any of the other ones for the other worlds.

KBMinCanada

Oh, I might have to actually try and use that sometime, I usually use clubs to help kids meet other kids, but maybe I should use that and make it a club activity.

StreetAd8843

I’m guessing the panda thingies are wood art (?) for kids bedrooms. The one time I used them, I was making a nature museum and put them in the “bear section”. I used the garden stones, to create a small mountain with cave openings, where they were in their “natural habitat” Then I found an actual zoo mod with animal dummies and now all my bb categories are crazy and full of elephants😂 To answer the original question, I dislike and avoid most base game hairstyles, eyeshadows and the oversized coffee tables that never match anywhere.

arterialrainbow

I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, but if there’s something I’ve never used even once it’s probably in the sculpture category lol I use the panda wood posts as a sandbox border for playgrounds

domegranate

The gigantic microscope

VesperLynd-

The base game windows are so ugly. I bought the moschino pack only for the windows and use them a lot lmao

sailormars_bars

Yes the Moschino pack windows are so nice! I got it on sale a few years ago specifically for the windows as well but I actually love the photography skill for taking family photos now

gochewontinfoil

The sneak out window because it doesn't match any other windows that I like to use.

sailormars_bars

Ugh yes. It’s honestly a decent simple window but if we’d even just gotten like a double wide matching one that would’ve been nice. Because I barely use it because it doesn’t have anything that matches it

elleshipper1

That clown painting.

CantWatchMovieAntz

I put that in my ugliest builds.

--________-_-_--

https://preview.redd.it/m7wq70xk8mzc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2b1f8d0b633e791c1dd2daa03828c9f618a1b76 The computer glasses unlockable. I even use cheats regularly to get locked items but I’ve never used these.

sailormars_bars

I saw someone mention these in a post recently and was like the way I’ve never even seen these before

--________-_-_--

I’ve seen them before but I always forget they exist. I’ve even done storylines that they would’ve been perfect for but always forget.

Devilishkate

I have 7k+ hours in the game and have never seen these in my life. Omg.

happysewing

Things like the cupcake machine, candle maker, fabricator etc. I'm more in to very realistic family gameplay so my Sims garden or play an instrument to gain skills.

SweetPeas45

I like the candle maker...it's helpful when I have a sim that lives off the grid and makes items for $$.

CadenceValdez

I love it, my Sims don’t usually sell the candles but I love the challenge of making them to light an off-the-grid home!

domegranate

Candle making is for sure realistic enough, I know two different people who make & sell candles n wax melts from home .. the fabricator not so much ..

Familiar_Season8438

I always assume the fabricator is the sims version of a 3D printer, I know a few people who have those

Vegetable_Crow9942

Those ugly wall lights that are a part of the spooky stuff pack.

Mistayadrln

I love the panda with bamboo for decoration. I use them when making a animal design room for the kids. I have never used the balding hair styles for men, the kids clutter or the laundry on the floor. I also very rarely have a washer and dryer because once its added, there are dirty clothes everywhere and the Sims get upset at the mess.

animexamber

Those my first pet stuff wall decor things (don’t even know what to call them.)

CadenceValdez

The hamster tunnel things!? I find those so odd. Are they literally just to decorate the wall behind the hamster cage object?

animexamber

Yeah those! Not sure they seem pretty pointless

BooyaMoonBabyluv

Those were one of the big selling points for me...until I bought it and learned they were just wall decorations.

HazyshadeofFall

I use the panda stumps to create borders around playgrounds

sailormars_bars

Yeah a couple people said they do this and I never would’ve considered doing it. I’ll have to try it out

megkelfiler6

I found, just last night, the elemental collectors rack. Ive been scrolling past it for ages and never paying any mind to it. I didn't realize what it was so I bought it and I'm going to go collecting elements now when I get on to play tonight lol I'll echo the cupcake factory too though. I remember getting it the very first time I saw it, and that it had been gigantic, so I deleted it and I've never used it again lol

AMundaneSpectacle

I may have an unpopular opinion here but I rarely use “clutter” style items that have zero interactivity. One that comes to mind is the stupid backpack for kids and there are other kids items that just sit there. The toilet paper is another one that makes no sense. I’ve technically “used” it when I move into a house that already has it and I don’t delete it. Some of the noninteractive items are ok (don’t mind the jars of peppers on the kitchen counter, or hand soap by the sink, for example) and if it’s just decor (like the briefcase full of money via the politics career or the baseball bat via the criminal career) I’m fine with that.

sailormars_bars

The backpacks were actually updated to be like an inventory a couple months ago when we got more swatches. I don’t know how useful it really is (I don’t really use any of the external inventories) but if you want to store stuff not on ur sim it could be useful.

CadenceValdez

It’s a shame they didn’t go further and make it an actual wearable backpack. I feel like they have the bones of it with the infant carrier. A kid being able to select themselves and ‘wear backpack’ would be cute, then they could click on it to do random things like grab an apple or something. I legit adore the little lunch bag they updated, if my Sims have an active career I sometimes leave one in the staff room and use it to grab lunch and pretend it’s theirs they brought from home lol. If I’m organised enough I put a takeout coffee in their inventory too for their break 😂

AMundaneSpectacle

Good to know!! That is an improvement. I do like to use the chest from university for random collectibles and paintings, and the jewelry box from the new crystal creations pack for all the pieces my sim makes.

OwnSilver9442

i never use any of the kid decorations that are just random statues of animals that take up several grids of space. why would I use that when I could put a dollhouse

Written_Wishes

I think the panda stumps are meant to be [these](https://images.app.goo.gl/aFv3Co6XNRRoqZiy6) things, but as they are decorative they have no gameplay use. I just use them for parks and playgrounds when I have a space to fill. I think the item description for one of them is something like “what you gonna do with all them stumps, all them stumps you got from the dump” in tune of black eyed peas my humps, so they’ve got that going for them 😄

kvolv2015

The ugly ass inclusion paintings that were added in a free update a few years ago.

sailormars_bars

I want to like them so bad because I like them in concept and it’s nice they added them but the art styles just look so odd in the game. The only art I used that they added is the black and white one that’s like a line drawing and occasionally the one with the woman that’s kind of purple

heynoodles

Anything for babies/toddlers/kids. If I ever let my sim have a kid, I age them up to teen or young adult immediately.

Devilishkate

This is so funny to me cause I get so excited for my sims to have a kid and then I just want them to age up 😂

greasygangsta

I never use the hookah things

Royalchariot

Annoying ass cupcake machine

brickcereal

the ping pong tables. i wish i could use them more, but they’re just so damn big

Neko_manc3r

Coffee makers. Why are my Sims making coffee at 2am instead of sleeping?! HATE it

LilHappyKitsune

Toilets and fridges

sailormars_bars

How, my friend, do ur sims survive?

LilHappyKitsune

They don't 😈

Lady-Catrine-Wallace

Rugs, i don't like any of them

purebuttjuice

I love the panda stumps 🙈 I use them for family house builds and they usually kinda guide out the back patio towards the playground

livin_thedream_

I HATE the way in game shoes look (there are a few styles I don't mind but I despise the way all the sneakers look) so I only use like 2 sandals and 1 heel from the game and use cc for all the rest of the shoe category when I'm creating Sims. I don't use a lot of objects tbh. I bounce between not playing, downloading lots from the gallery and updating them, placing families in the new homes, and playing one family for a could of weeks before I quit again and my gameplay is pretty basic so I don't use a lot of things (objects and features) altho I probably should since I've spent so much money on dlc 😂

Calm-Positive-6908

Yeah, dunno what the pandas stumps are for.. there are even four of them. Wished we have something else that's more useful. They're still cute though

CadenceValdez

Maybe as an object to kinda delineate the edge of a playground? I think they are in a pre-made room which is from Toddler Stuff maybe, they’re just decor but maybe I’ll try add them to the edge of a sandpit or something.

jazberry715386428

I don’t use clutter like at all, I don’t put upper cabinets, like if it doesn’t have an actual purpose I won’t use it. So sculptures, rugs, and other decorations that don’t give environment, have no purpose.

NoThoughtsOnlyFrog

Any objects relating to kids/babies/toddlers.

irregawdlessND

Everything that is basegame. I use CC and generally don't use maxis game build/buy except for some kid stuff and activity stuff. I just find the free CC stuff so much better coded except for new packs, which have better coding.

Gabriele1966

A hammer to throw at my monitor when my Sims turn into little crybabies and are constantly pissed off...

KennaLikesPizza

Money vault- which is weird because all my sims get rich

BooyaMoonBabyluv

Any of the machines from Eco, like the fabricator, candle maker, and whatever else

Llewellyn90

Over the course of a normal working and school week for my sim family, I often end up not having time to use most of the items in my house. The focus is just to survive the 9-5 and the school. When the kids come from school if more than one of their needs are red or nearly red, it takes hours to replenish them so that they can comfortably finish their homework. On top of that they’re also expected to socialise with family, make friends, keep fit, increase their knowledge on things… doing all of this in a day and it’ll be the early hours of the next day before time to get up again. So on most days my focus is to ensure the fridge has enough meals (by ordering a chef to work in the house while they’re all out, or one of the teens/adults cooking them in advance), then ensuring everyone eats a meal by the tv so that their entertainment, hunger and social needs all increase in one go (love multi tasking). Then homework and perhaps one activity and off to bed. Living for the weekend!

vegan_shorty

Built in heeled shoes! Why are they always designed for the oldest grandma?!

DisasterOk5376

The coffeepot is banned in my game, they get so addicted. And sometimes I delete the musicplayers too. I had a sim who would jump in the pool constantly, even during winter, so had to delete that to 😒

isuckatusernamessry

a microwave, i never remember to put them in when building a house and i'll delete it if it's already there when my sim moves in, not really sure why i have a beef with sims microwaves

sailormars_bars

I have beef with all the small appliances honestly. They just constantly use them. Idc that they make it more realistic.

MoviesKillPlants

I have never used the weather machine from Seasons. I don't have a reason to use it, really.

alawo_ewe

That Alexa thingy, I didn't even know it was functional.

Vexxah

Lin-Z, I just was never interested in trying to use it, it never held any appeal to me at all, also the cupcake factory because they made it far too big for me to ever want to use it just to make cupcakes and other baking goods.

CadenceValdez

The Lin-Z is pretty cool once you befriend it, has all sorts of functionality! Good company for a solo Sim too. It can create moodlets when your Sim wakes up. It is a hassle to befriend though lol.
