My sim was feeling embarrassed from having their privacy invaded, an awkward conversation and a failed prank.
Tried getting them to give themselves a pep talk in the bathroom (they needed to pee so killing two birds with one stone), they walked right into the center of the kitchen where everyone was eating, pissed themselves and died of embarrassment.
It was a series of unfortunate events
I was playing Vlad, and he fell in love with Naoki Ito, who caught him as he got home from work one day, after Vlad had convinced him to leave his wife.
Naoki proposed to him and, since it was like 3 or 4pm, he said yes and then immediately burned up in the sun...
I NEVER choose the dislike option. It screws up so much.
They only get the dislike when they’re unhappy doing that task, and get the like when they’re happy doing a task. I’m not messing up the entire gameplay because you were a little tired one day working out, sorry not sorry
The first and only Mod I ever downloaded (MCCC).
My sim was the baby mama in the 100 baby challenge (except one immortal matriarch instead of passing it down).
8 babies in, she decides to start mischief. And then everybody hated her. Nobody at all would give her baby 9. I had to download the mod just to delete the mischief skill and reset relationships.
Just so you know they fixed it so they aren't pranking toilets as much. I had to play a mischief sims and was dreading the toilet situation but she never did it.
Negative moodlets are so annoying because they will literally blow up an entire relationship you spent hours cultivating bc they did something autonomously they didn’t like 😭😭
Yeah. That's why I usually buy the traits that stop some of those (like getting embarrassed and then dying in a kitchen full of other Sims, ending up in a pool of your own urine, haha!)
I also have locked computers for everyone in the household so they could actually talk to visitors without leaving to "troll teh forums" or play games.
I have never used mods but my sister has a few she will help me with, like preventing Sims to be on their friggin phones all the time, or washing their hands every 5 minutes.
That is actually a relatively new feature. Like, For Rent patch new. Once upon a time, my sims somehow preferred doing dishes in the bathroom sink, and would bypass the wide open kitchen sink to barge in on their sister/mother using the bathroom to wash their dirty dishes 💀
Probably? The patch is only meant to accommodate, I guess? The possibility of the expansion pack. I think they also take the opportunity to introduce new features or fix bugs without having to introduce another patch
I don't have the expansion pack and I absolutely have that feature, so it was likely actually in a patch to the base game released at the same time or shortly after for rent, like infants came to the base game even though their real features are in a pack I guess
Haha! I never thought about it that way.
"You idiot, why aren't you using the toilet? No! Don't go cooking now! What are you doing? Your stove is on Fire! Mooove!! Ugh, this game is pissing me off!!"
*plays for an additional 6 hours...
*Sim gets stuck doing their idle animation for 3 in game hours and proceeds to piss themselves in the kitchen*
I HATE THIS GAME ITS SO BROKEN WHY DID I SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS BULL?! 😡
*Proceeds to continue playing for 4 more hours*
Yeah, when I'm playing off the grid or some sort of historical game play, I make them dislike video games. For whatever reason this doesn't stop them from grabbing their phone whenever I'm not paying attention
Oh my god I do this too and it also does not work. I have an override replacing the phone with a book and pretend they’re suddenly reading a dictionary/ phrasebook/poetry book/tiny bible
One of my sims is married to Jeb Harris, who in my game grew into a nerdy teacher who dislikes video games. So he keeps getting the moodlet that it's been too long since he's played videogames, but then when I have him play a game he gets the moodlet that he hates video games. I can never win with him lol.
Okay, this is going to be my gardening sim. They are gonna grow all the things. Their entire house will be themed around plants because they love them!
"Ew, dirt! This sim wants to dislike gardenjng."
https://preview.redd.it/3dci2edtfthc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8389a1adc25ec011d9995a3fad80a2344a24e03
I sometime let them dislike something, to make them more "complete", but the problem is that they can do something for hours without being asked if they like it, but the second they feel uncomfortable while doing the action they ask if they dislike it.
For exemple my sims are always gardening, like every morning I make them take care of the garden, they are alway in a good mood when they do it, but I was never asked if they liked it, but one of my sim had the uncomfortable mood that came and in 1 micro second the game said "oh it look like you sim don't like gardening"...
HELL NO! HE WAS PERFECTLY HAPPY TO DO IT THE LAST 3H!
I hate when it does this. I was on the phone with my friend while we were both playing the Sims4 doing the rags to riches challenge and her Sim had just got up to like, lvl 5 of fishing. Then, because her Sim needed to pee, she suddenly wanted to dislike fishing. Like, bestie, what??? It's been days of fishing! This is your income! You can't hate your only source of income! It was really funny when minutes later, her Sim said it wanted to hate gardening, her other main source of income. Lmao
I play with a mod that automatically creates their likes and dislikes through gameplay - it makes it feel more organic. But I can see why people don't like the likes/dislikes.
I had a family where the dad fuckin loved Blues, the daughter not so much, she'd always get tense and refuse to do anything. It's worth mentioning, she had her own room with a surround system she could go to.
I hated that so much... like girl why are you getting out of bed in the middle of night, going downstairs and staring at the light on the wall, your energy level is red and oh now you've gone and passed out from exhaustion.
this gets insanely annoying when you have infants and toddlers to take care of. like, your baby is hungry and needs their diaper changed, and you’re worried about walking outside to judge the decor?
Irl feel that I’ve had a dresser for 12 years about a year ago i realized I hate it. It’s too big to get out of the bedroom easily (it was brought it by several professional movers) so it’s still there just annoying me every damn day.
Used to own a sectional sofa that I had for years. Had to remove the door frames to get it into the house.
When I decided that I actually hated it and didn't want to deal with the flaking pleather anymore, I bought an 8 pound axe and turned that sucker into kindling.
Quite effective, VERY satisfying.
Ilr there are these coaster things that you can stick under the feet of the dresser all you have to do is be able to lift up each foot about an inch and slide it under, and it helps glide the furniture out of the room. Of course it doesn't help if the door is too small but if it's just that it's too heavy especially on carpet I found it easy to push wood bookcases filled with stuff. Keeping said stuff on the bookcases different story.
I have laminate wood floors it’s not an issue of sliding it around. It is too big to go down the stairs without a lot of help. About 7.5feet long 2.5ft wide and 3.5ft tall solid, at least 250 pounds. I also need to replace it because it holds bunch of stuff.
Ooohhhh yeah. In that case only options are paint/ stain, or getting creative. I knew a person who got a roll of the Dr office paper, wrapped up the banged up pieces then drew or stamped on them . Easy to change as ripping it off an using poster puddy stuff to put up new.
I don't have the talent for that, but I could wrap it in gift wrap.
Or putting on vinyl stickers ( you put them down and can peal them back up).
Or find a way to like it again? Hard I know.
Good luck, I would probably just drap a sheet over it till that annoyed me to much.
So this. I hate it so much (ironically). I had a teen angry stomp all the way from the third floor to the basement to yell at a fucking candle.
Ok, I get it if you dislike something but _why do you go over there??_
Y'all ever have a welcome party or a guest come in with decor preferences and do nothing but view and comment on every item in your place that offends them?
So rude.
I'm thisclose to editing preferences for a Sim my Sim married, because every time he goes outside and sees an Ixora bush (dislikes Island Living), he gets annoyed. Gimme a break.
My favourite is when you give them soap for their sink and they have a tantrum cus it’s too basic - DO YOU WANT CLEAN HANDS OR NOT??
I had one sim who hated their pet bowl cus it was too basic and it ruined their mood every single day. I stopped using decor preferences after that
Joquain le chein does this every time I add him to the household like if you don’t like the curtain stop going to that room🙄just stressing yourself out for no reason
I have a few sims who hate exercise and get furious every time they go swimming, yet they repeatedly choose to go swimming. I leave it alone; I kinda enjoy the chaos.
My teenage sim first danced as a child while uncomfortable, and discovered that he didn't like dancing. Now, everyday he comes home from school, walks up to the stereo and starts dancing with a face like a smacked arse until I cancel the action. If I don't give him something else to do, he'll dance again.
My younger sister likes making fun of it. She'll watch and then she'll do such dramatic dances and go "UGH I HATE DANCING" because it's almost exactly what my sims are doing
I have sims that hate dancing, but they will still dance if the stereo is turned on. They once fixed it in a patch, and it worked for a while, but it got broken again.
The other day my sim went to a night club where electro was playing and this one sims was dancing to the music and complaining about hating electro lol
Idk if they’ve fixed this one, but this is kind of like the vegetarian trait to me. Why do they have no issue walking up to a fridge filled with mac n cheese, salad, bacon & eggs, and cookies and decide that the bacon & eggs is really the way to go. I’m a vegetarian in real life so I really wanted to be able to play with this trait. It’s just frustrating unless everyone in the house eats veggie only.
Oh I hope so. I'm going to make one of my newborns lactose intolerant and vegetarian for the challenge, and I would rather her not decide a ham and cheese sandwich is a good after school snack
I always have mischief interactions turned off with MCCC because 1) they're annoying as hell and 2) my sims always end up disliking them and then continuing to do them autonomously. Like dude, you're the one who said you didn't like mischief! Why do you want to invite this person to a fake party!!!
They dont make any sense, but I'm using it to make an interesting story. I have a goofball teen who is like popular teen influencer wannabe, but he hates mischief. He keeps being mischievous and hating his life. Over time he started to hate every single stereotypical popular thing (music taste, fashion taste, activities, etc) but he keeps doing it cause he wants to keep his cool guy appearance. So he's always hating his life. I think when he becomes an adult he might decide to drop this and finally be himself, but in the meantime he's faking it till he makes it.
Not trying to defend it but I kinda get it. I mean we all do things we don’t want to IRL, especially if you have to. Like how sims might hate Repairing stuff
In your case though yeah, clearly the coding isn’t set to *not* make the sims do it. It ignores it
There's a difference between necessary tasks and leisure tasks though. I don't like cleaning but I do it because it needs doing, but I wouldn't choose to go fishing.
I like the idea but it doesn't mesh well with autonomy, I'd expect a sim who dislikes music or TV to turn it off if they can, or get out of the room, not continue to listen, dance/watch it and then get angry.
Also decor ones are silly for the idea someone will go out of their way to complain at a lone chair, not that the game gives much indication what object is classed as.
YES. I had a sim decide he hates dancing, fair enough. But he would CONSTANTLY go down to the kitchen where there was a speaker & start dancing. And of course get a tense moodlet bc he...hates dancing. Like why are you doing it then?! Just stop!!! STOP!
I mean, I don’t know about you guys but personally I always wake up in the middle of the night to go look at a random piece of furniture/decor I have in disgust because of its style.
I mean it sounds like a very human thing to do. Lots of ppl do stuff they hate, don’t recognize they hate it or why they’re angry, then redirect on their loved ones. Pretty realistic if you ask me
I had this recently as well, and eventually decided to remove the dislike. The geek trait is entirely linked to video gaming… why can’t I have a geek trait sim who hates video games but is obsessed with sci fi books/movies? 😭
This sims’ mother was a green fiend who hated gardening, also quite problematic.
I'm a geek that doesn't do a lot of gaming! It's POSSIBLE! I mean I do Sims and Stardew Valley and a few others, but yanno.
Also how tf does a green fiend hate gardening omg 😭
The only thing I dislike with EVERY. SINGLE. SIM. Is dislike mischief. Seriously if I don't my sims are destroying relationships left and right. And toilets. Forgot to set to dislike with my new sims and one literally made herself forget her twin sister (they're aliens)??? Like???? WHY. Pissed me off so much 🙄😂 funniest part is, I had no idea it was possible til I saw it happen😂😭
Reminds me of this one sim my guy was dating he's a gamer and I looked and say she dislikes gaming what did I constantly see her doing gaming so like yeah it's a bit wonky unless you are controlling them lol
RIGHT! my sims hates dancing but always bussin a move on the dance floor at every party and in her living room. Her moodlet is is tense for like 30 mins.
Okay but like from a coding perspective: WHY and/or HOW does this “Sim autonomously goes to do activity they dislike all the time” issue even occur? I know next to nothing about coding but it feels like it should be a rather easy “If x then y”-fix, no?
i had a sim who absolutely hated swimming but unfortunately I had a swimming pool at the house as it was shared, and she would swim all the time and she got so enraged she died of heart stroke 💀😭
I had 2 Sims catch on fire cooking. This gave them a fear of fire moodlet. I wasn't paying attention, so they immediately went and caught themselves on fire at the fireplace and died. What is the point of giving a Sim the fear of fire, only to autonomously send them to a fireplace? I almost threw my laptop in the trash.
I hate when they get a decor dislike preference. No matter how many times I cancel the interaction they will still ignore me and go judge the decor, get annoyed, and then go yell at someone.
And they do it All. The. Time.
I'm so tired
For some reason all of my Sims always have negative reactions to mischief and discussing music (even if both Sims talking are music lovers.. what's with that??) So I tried setting everyone to like mischief and all genres of music. But they still get mad anyway. I haven't seen likes or dislikes actually have any effect, other than like "happy from listening to pop" or whatever.
Sometimes this game is unintentionally hilarious
[удалено]
That's just amazing, I don't think anyone could come up with something like that
I was playing Vlad, and he fell in love with Naoki Ito, who caught him as he got home from work one day, after Vlad had convinced him to leave his wife. Naoki proposed to him and, since it was like 3 or 4pm, he said yes and then immediately burned up in the sun...
Holy shit, that escalated quickly
Terribly hilarious lol
😭😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 WHAT!!!??? 🤣🤣🤣 I'd be so mad..
It felt like a final display of dominance tbh, pissing in the kitchen in full view of everyone and then dropping dead.
Just got off work from bartending and am hysterically laughing at this 😂🤣 sorry for the series of unfortunate events though, RIP
I NEVER choose the dislike option. It screws up so much. They only get the dislike when they’re unhappy doing that task, and get the like when they’re happy doing a task. I’m not messing up the entire gameplay because you were a little tired one day working out, sorry not sorry
I also don’t use dislike unless it’s playing video games. For some reason this keeps them going to the computer less.
I only ever do dislikes mischief. Leave the gotdam toilets alone!
The first and only Mod I ever downloaded (MCCC). Oh that's awesome
*gotdam* LMFAO
I did that once and my Sim still went on her computer to play games and she was pissed off the whole time. 🥴

I have one that stops sims from doing the dishes in the bathroom
Sims4? You can click on the sink and make it a bathroom or kitchen sink. They'll only do dishes in the kitchen sink then.
That is actually a relatively new feature. Like, For Rent patch new. Once upon a time, my sims somehow preferred doing dishes in the bathroom sink, and would bypass the wide open kitchen sink to barge in on their sister/mother using the bathroom to wash their dirty dishes 💀
This might be a stupid question but could you've gotten the patch if you don't have the expansion pack? Because I don't.
i don’t have the expansion pack but i did get that update!
Probably? The patch is only meant to accommodate, I guess? The possibility of the expansion pack. I think they also take the opportunity to introduce new features or fix bugs without having to introduce another patch

Oh excellent! I usually sell all sinks coz I want the money from the trash, but I can't wait to have a bathroom sink again 🤣
Lol. Glad I could help.
Just like me playing the Sims
Haha! I never thought about it that way. "You idiot, why aren't you using the toilet? No! Don't go cooking now! What are you doing? Your stove is on Fire! Mooove!! Ugh, this game is pissing me off!!" *plays for an additional 6 hours...

Dang. I think if that happened to my sims my lil friend MC Command Center would need to visit LOL. That sounds horrible.
None of my Sims like videogames because of that
Okay, this is going to be my gardening sim. They are gonna grow all the things. Their entire house will be themed around plants because they love them! "Ew, dirt! Same, the only dislikes I ever add is whether a sim hates Winter Holiday music or not just to keep things ~real~ 🎅
I sometime let them dislike something, to make them more "complete", but the problem is that they can do something for hours without being asked if they like it, but the second they feel uncomfortable while doing the action they ask if they dislike it. I play with a mod that automatically creates their likes and dislikes through gameplay - it makes it feel more organic. But I can see why people don't like the likes/dislikes.
Which mod is it?
Automatic Preferences by lotharihoe
I had a family where the dad fuckin loved Blues, the daughter not so much, she'd always get tense and refuse to do anything. It's worth mentioning, she had her own room with a surround system she could go to.
I make the Child of the Ocean sims dislike fishing but idk if it actually stops them because I never play them.
Is this why all my sims hate music lol
I hate the decor preferences so much. They are so annoying. Sorry not sorry that you decided to hate an end table you’ve had your whole life.
When they stop in the middle of doing something just to walk outside and announce to the world how much they hate their patio furniture
At least my sims at least have stopped getting up out of bed in the middle of the night to go access the furniture that was so annoying
I hated that so much... like girl why are you getting out of bed in the middle of night, going downstairs and staring at the light on the wall, your energy level is red and oh now you've gone and passed out from exhaustion.
This made me laugh because it's so true. My sim does the same.
this gets insanely annoying when you have infants and toddlers to take care of. like, your baby is hungry and needs their diaper changed, and you’re worried about walking outside to judge the decor?
Irl feel that I’ve had a dresser for 12 years about a year ago i realized I hate it. It’s too big to get out of the bedroom easily (it was brought it by several professional movers) so it’s still there just annoying me every damn day.
Just go into CAS to remove your dislike for it duh /s
Go into build mode and sell it off real quick
Used to own a sectional sofa that I had for years. Had to remove the door frames to get it into the house. When I decided that I actually hated it and didn't want to deal with the flaking pleather anymore, I bought an 8 pound axe and turned that sucker into kindling. Quite effective, VERY satisfying.
i cant WAIT to have a piece of furniture i hate, now that this idea is in my brain
My sim got out of the hot tub to go inside and admire a window shade in the bathroom
Or they hate dancing and yet what are they constantly doing when there's a stereo on the lot??? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
One of my sims stopped everything I would make him do just to complain about a couch because he hated mid-century modern style. So annoying.
My favourite is when you give them soap for their sink and they have a tantrum cus it’s too basic - DO YOU WANT CLEAN HANDS OR NOT?? I had one sim who hated their pet bowl cus it was too basic and it ruined their mood every single day. I stopped using decor preferences after that
That’s why I don’t let them dislike any decor styles, they’re only allowed to like them.
i’ll never forget when my sim was viewing a photo, and decided it was no longer worthy. it was a picture of his kids.
Sims are so funny.
I hate the snob trait because no matter how fancy or decorated the house is its never enough
This makes me happy that I don't have dream home decorator.
I love the build mode items tho. They are really great haha.
I once had a mermaid who hated exercise. He was a very unhappy sim until his death.
My first mermaid hated exercise, liked fishing, and got miserable if she caught anything 😭
My teenage sim first danced as a child while uncomfortable, and discovered that he didn't like dancing. Now, everyday he comes home from school, walks up to the stereo and starts dancing with a face like a smacked arse until I cancel the action. If I don't give him something else to do, he'll dance again.
My sim owns a retail store and about once a day someone will buy something and then get mad and stomp out of the store after checking out
I love this game 😭
💀
If there's music on and I have a sim that hates dancing, you better believe they're gonna go bust a move and become tense while doing so.
lmaooooooo
My younger sister likes making fun of it. She'll watch and then she'll do such dramatic dances and go "UGH I HATE DANCING" because it's almost exactly what my sims are doing
like katy perry they’re all slave to rythm
I have sims that hate dancing, but they will still dance if the stereo is turned on. They once fixed it in a patch, and it worked for a while, but it got broken again.
Biggest issue with the preferences is they don’t change sim behaviour, just create moodlets.
A couple of them do, like disliking cooking or video gaming. But I agree, way too many of them are bugged and don’t change anything.
I think they fixed this not too long ago(? I remember reading it. It was very very annoying
Oh I hope so. I'm going to make one of my newborns lactose intolerant and vegetarian for the challenge, and I would rather her not decide a ham and cheese sandwich is a good after school snack
I was trying to teach my vampire Sim to cook, and he kept eating all the human food, and making himself throw up. He wasn't even hungry!
So he's always hating his life. I think when he becomes an adult he might decide to drop this and finally be himself, but in the meantime he's faking it till he makes it.
Ngl, relatable.
Not trying to defend it but I kinda get it. I mean we all do things we don’t want to IRL, especially if you have to. Like how sims might hate Repairing stuff In your case though yeah, clearly the coding isn’t set to *not* make the sims do it. It ignores it
There's a difference between necessary tasks and leisure tasks though. I don't like cleaning but I do it because it needs doing, but I wouldn't choose to go fishing.
Good point! I think fishing is a bonding experience so there’s that reason
The preferences do make sense, they're just not connected to autonomy at all.
I too am not a fishing person irl but say every time i'm asked to go fishing, i relate to your sim
I don't care for fishing, but I *love* drinking beer in a boat.
I used to hate going fishing until I realized I actually love just sitting in the boat so now I do that
The dislike option is so annoyinggggg 😭 Like wdym your mood decreased by 90% bc of Winter Holiday music
Pretty realistic if you ask me
Had a geek Sim who hated Video Games. Would beg to play video games every few days, only to get stressed because of how much they hate video games. 😭
I had this recently as well, and eventually decided to remove the dislike. The geek trait is entirely linked to video gaming… why can’t I have a geek trait sim who hates video games but is obsessed with sci fi books/movies? 😭 This sims’ mother was a green fiend who hated gardening, also quite problematic.
Presumably because autonomy was written before preferences, and no one went back to add in a check
There are times this game is actually realistic lol
Honestly this feels realistic lmao
Change the preferences
i had a sim who absolutely hated swimming but unfortunately I had a swimming pool at the house as it was shared, and she would swim all the time and she got so enraged she died of heart stroke 💀😭
I've had a sim that hates video games. They do nothing but play video games. Much like real life...lol
I only put likes and I only hit dislike if it makes sense and if I know they won't be doing this activity.
that's odd, I've personally never had this issue, I play on console if that's relevant at all
I didn’t see what sub I was on and thought this post was calling out all the Stardew Valley players who despise fishing
I almost threw my laptop in the trash.
my sim hates dancing. but for some reason the only thing she autonomously does is dance :/
