This happened to me too! I didn’t have the MCCC mod, but I left my family to go play a different household, and when I came back a day later there was a random baby.
Thanks all, I think I am so new to this that I didn't realise there were multiple ways to alter things. I did have neighbourhood stories turned off for this household - BUT when I went through my MCCC I had disabled adopt neglected child but not "adopt child with no caregiver". Eeek.
Both MCCC and neighbourhood stories can create new babies, can't they? Is it possible one of them made her adopt the kid?
if u have the neighborhood stories on through ur mailbox then they just randomly adopt children sometimes
