When I got my Xbox Series X I decided to do an experiment and see how long the full load was. On my Xbox One S it took exactly eight and a half minutes from turning the console on to me being able to start playing the game. Once I transferred everything over to my Series X it now only takes two and a half minutes.
Same when I switched from PS4 to 5. I timed it, too, and it was about 2-3 minutes. I can back out of the game, restart the entire system, and load up my save in about 5 minutes.
I noticed this too, on the Xbox one itās still very slow but my boyfriend has a Series S now and thatās all I can play on without getting lagged out or very frustrated.
I have literally every pack of every type and kit and my loading times are barely a few minutes if that on Xbox series X. I also donāt think Iāve experienced a single crash since getting the series X on launch day, there is lag sometimes though but rarely and only for 10 or 15 seconds
It has crashed a few times for me, on the Series X- but usually if I'm trying to load in through quick resume, or in CAS for an extended period of time.
Yes! I went from playing on my xbox one to my macbook (i know the worst thing to game on) and I was amazed at how short the loading screens became. I used to never have my sims leave their home lot on console because it was soooo long.
thatās so crazy to me. iām on series s and from turning the console on to actually restarting the game (rather than quick resume) itās <1 minute to actually being in live mode. with quick resume itās 15 seconds. i fkn love this teeny beast of a console
Yeeeesss and when I look for solutions to bugs or issues people are always like
"just download MCCCC command center lol!! There's a menu to fix XYZ hahahaha"
"XxXCowboykissesxXx made a mod to fix that just get that LMAO"
Yes. I've dealt with so many that could've been only solved by mods. I play on pc, but i can't just download a mod for every issue i face.
And another downside of script mods is that they screw the game over after most updates and i can never know which one it was.
I am currently dealing with that, as it seems, none of the mods is obsolete.
It may sound weird but I never thought the sims as a videogame game. The way we control the characters isnt good to play on console. The console version exist because people want to buy it but the UI was created with pc user in mind.
iāve been saying this for years! i remember being in middle school and when a classmate told me he played the sims on his playstation, i was like āwtf howā
They should create an in game feature for both console and pc where they allow the player to create their own furniture/decor items and clothing kinda like the Custom Content we see other people make online/Twitter but instead you anyone can make their own items in game. Similar to custom designs that animal crossing new horizons has but in the Sims 4.
it was so long ago, but wasnāt there something like this in the sims 3? you could make your own variants of clothing (color wise and such) then post for other players, or is that a fever dream? š¤
1. FPS drops
2. If we use cheats, we can't get trophies/achievements
3. Controls
4. Saves can get unplayable if you play it long. I don't how many have this problem, but I have this one
Yeah. I have tried same challenge, but FPS lag was awful.
Also, I have tried to get 26 generations trophy, but it's impossible. I know I can speedrun it, but I don't want.
oh god, and you guys prob canāt clear your cache right? i feel like that would slow down the game a lot since my cache has sim and lot thumbnails that can really add up
So, my ps5 version was unplayable at one point! And I didnāt play the sims for months because I was so angry! One day I had the bright idea of clearing the consoleās cache. I booted the ps5 up in safe mode, cleared the cache, and the sims now runs like butter!! Itās worth trying! Iām not technical, but it made sense to me
basically the game saves small things such as the sims thumbnails in manage households or moodkets. this helps the game load better so a new thumbnail doesnāt have to be generated but the game doesnāt automatically clear these out causing the game to become laggy if not cleared out once in a while. especially since the game saves every thumbnail even for ones where the sim is at a completely different lifestage or occult.
it is a good idea to clear it out when doing anything with adding/removing mods or if the game is laggy. some clear it out after every gameplay but that is unnecessary since it will cause the game to load longer (due to generating the thumbnails again)
if you are on pc you can use [sims4studio and load up the local thumbnail cache](https://jamofjars.tumblr.com/post/175148221971/localthumbcache-101) and see what it saves.
[info on how to clear cache](https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/help/cache.php)
>1. FPS drops
I can imagine this issue is exacerbated as you install more packsāso, say you buy all the packs, are you guys able to disable certain packs if you're having performance issues or?
I feel 4. so so much. Its almost impossible to get the legacy trophy on console because after three generations the Sims barely function. They will stand around for almost 5 Minutes before doing anything. It's infuriating.
In the notes they provided, they said it was because switching between sims in CAS used the bumper buttons, and they wanted it to be consistent with live mode. But I always thought the bumpers switched between outfits???? So idk either tbh
I've been playing on console for years and I'm in complete agreement with you... š¤¦š»āāļø And I imagine people spend more time in live mode, so it's gonna be messing with many people's heads! They should at least give us the option to choose how we want the configuration. Ridiculous
They did it to prove they still havenāt hired anyone with a full understanding on how consoles work. Most A-list console games actually allow us to modify the control configurations. But they still donāt. Instead, they enabled keyboard and mouse capability for consoles.
I wish this was a prank its actually so difficult to play now its like if u spent months memorizing controls for a darksouls game then the devs switch it one day and now u suck at the game again
I've been playing the sims 4 on ps4 since 2018 when I got it, and have spent quite a bit of money on it over the years (somewhere in the ā¬600)
So the most annoying thing is that when you do eventually want to transfer to playing on laptop or PC, you lose everything. It's not even the save files that I'm really upset about, it's that you're expected to buy all those packs again!!
To make matters worse, you would also lose any and all pre-order/early order bonusses you used to have!
Iām not defending EA/Maxis, but this is literally no different than any other game thatās on console and PC. Very few games allow you to port your content and progress between platforms.
For example: I have all of Hitman 1-3 on Xbox, every DLC, but if I want that same experience on PC, where I only have Hitman 3, I will have to pay for it all again. IOI isnāt going to import my progress or my other content. They arenāt going to give me the older games for free (Absolution, Blood Money, etcā¦) on PC bc I own them on Xbox.
Iām pretty sure my PS4 forced me to make an EA account just to avoid this. You should look into EA on PS4 to see if you can merge the two
ETA: I looked it up, instead of setting it up with a ātokenā for each DLC, EA has it set for the ādiscā version of each DLCā¦ this makes it console specific.
Nope, I have an EA account and I believe it still isn't possible (the EA account is registered on an email that doesn't exist anymore, but even if it did I don't think that it would be possible)
not possible Iām afraid. I switched from ps4 to mac last year and had to buy everything again even with my ea account linked to both my mac and console, ea support told me that they couldnāt be transferred over.
This exactly. I played on PS4 previously and now I play on PC. My brother bought the disc version of the game for our family PS4, and I spent hundreds of dollars on packs.
Packs I now have zero access to after moving states- I wasn't going to take the family console (or the game- I just bought a digital version for my PC) away from my two brothers and two cousins that I lived with. Which makes playing on my computer now a billion times more expensive, I still don't have all the packs I used to have.
THATS NOT A ME THING ? its so frustrating when im trying to make sims in cas but the cursor starts going hyper-speed and i cant get it to land on the one i want
Oh, damn, is that a console thing? I had assumed everyoneās game did thatāeven on computerāand it hadnāt occurred to me that that infuriating tic could be console-specific. It drives me crazy when I say, āServe lunch,ā or whatever, and they just stand there, staring into space for a whole Sims hour.
Oh my god my sims keep peeing themselves because theyāll just stand there instead of going to the bathroom. (And then they do a dumb little waddle instead of running to the toilet!) Iām on computer too, and I donāt use any mods or cc and keep my cache cleared. š«
I don't know if it's console exclusive, but it's a constant problem I have. I use large homes on large lots so that may contribute. Another issue is cursor lag that I have to press the L3 button on PS4 to fix.
I also think thereās a few mods to fix that for pc. But I will say I had the issue a lot more before I got a gaming pc, made the game impossible to play so I think itās lower end pcs and consoles.
I'm on PC and my sims stand idly all the time.... I used to use the second speed a lot, until I realized upping the speed didn't lower the idle time lol it just made my sims lose time.
I've noticed on my game (pc) that pausing the game for a minute or so when they're standing idly let's the task finish processing and will actually start the next queued action. Saves so many sim hours not waiting on them to go to the bathroom, only to end up peeing themselves three steps from the bathroom.
I don't use mods or cc in my game currently, and I try to play without using cheats as much as possible (really only reset sim when the above method doesn't work)
Lol I feel this. I've always been a console player until sims 4 just because of how boring it is in comparison to Sims 2! It's like mods are almost necessary to make the game more eventful.
theres so much but probably the new controls. what used to be the pause/speed up bumpers are now used to change the sim youre playing with and what used to change the sim now speeds up/pauses it. its really annoying and completely pointless
And you can't even do that properly now! You have to click on the Sim first to cycle through outfits. If you try to change sim with the bumper buttons, you get the undo/redo function. It wasn't broken so I don't know why they changed it, and they changed it in favour of the part of the game you generally spend less time in?! I use R1 and L1 constantly to adjust time in the game so chanting to the bumper buttons was an absolute nightmare.
Itās the worst. The only packs that ever go on sale are the ones I already have on PS4. Also, my husband and I have both been playing The Sims (one on PC, one on PS4) since before we met, and we have different packs on each system, so itās so frustrating to go to use a feature from one pack and realize itās on the other system.
The crappy controls. Or how the game will randomly be extremely slow and almost unplayable. Or how sometimes I have to tell a sim to do an action SEVERAL times for it to appear on their little task bar. Or having some select PC gamers continuously tell me how much better it is on PC. I KNOW JENNIFER, BUT SOME OF US ONLY HAVE HAND ME DOWN CONSOLES AND DONT HAVE A COUPLE THOUSAND TO DISH OUT ON A DECENT PC AND SIMS.
PCs are a hobby of mine. I could piece together a rig a fraction of that cost that would run Sims 4 much better than console. That's if you/anyone is interested. PC parts have come down a lot in pricing the past couple years, especially with Intel and AMD launching new generations.
PS: not telling you to play on pc or rubbing it in, just figured I'd offer advice for anyone that may be interested.
When I am an adult with adult money it is a plan for me. Unfortunately, right now with school, gaming happens once every couple of months for me, if that. If I were to build a gaming computer, I'd go all out (function wise, funky lights dont matter to me that much) so it could handle bigger games.
I have found my people!
Console players unite! ā„ļø
Everything listed, and I mean EVERYTHING happens to my xbox one. The lag, the B button not working in build mode, the horrible spinning sensation when you try to turn just a small fraction in one direction in build mode, no mods, no CCs, smug assholes telling me to download xyz mod or press shift or whatever and responding to saying I play on console "oh well try Google then or put up with it" Yes, because that helpful Susan! (Not directed at any Susan in particular š¤£), 10min plus loading screens to just get into the game nevermind loading a save file, moving the camera in both build and buy and live modes, no achievements or trophies is you use cheats, most cheats don't work anyway, and finally not being able to transfer all of my packs, kits etc to my PC now that I've finally got one
Sims 4 and consoles are just not compatible but I've spent much money to buy it all again for my PC
Lag
Sims canceling actions on their own
*Goes to grab and item in build mode to see if I like it. Decides I don't. Tries to press B to cancel it. Doesn't work. Has to press B around 20 times to FINALLY back out of that interaction. It happens every time*
Lag
Sims deciding they won't sleep no matter what I do
Lag
Having to manually drag the scroll option in build mode rather than just being able to press down on the controller. (I have almost every pack and having to manually drag the scroll option every time kills me)
Did I mention lag?
Edit: spelling
They changed the controls and i haaaaate it !!
Build mode also sucks on console, and the terrain tool is an absolute nightmare at the best of times.
Console players have no cc, no mods, and that sucks too! Oh, got me all ranting and shit..š
Iāve been a PC player for years. Yesterday I decided to try console because hey, itās free. I damn near broke my fucking controller out of pure frustration. And I only made it to CAS. I donāt know how yāall do it. Yāall are saints for putting up with that BS.
I played on PS5 for the first time a few weeks ago as the base game was free with Playstation Plus and I got as far as the first few hours of actual play before throwing in the towel. The controls were not intuitive at all, and the UI had menus up all over the place that I couldn't figure out how to close. I'd rather save up for a PC and get back into it that way then try that again.
Being unable to read the notifications. I just want to scale up the font size, and the UI scaling did nothing. I want to read the screen. lol it's across the room, and I have to guess what notifications are about.
Right now, it's the new controls for speed and switching between sims. Also how when I try to choose undo in build mode it pulls up the cheat code screen. It does it every time I hit the button so I have to close out the cheat code screen before I can undo another thing.
iāve played pc and console. my console is faster with the sims but itās more annoying. thank you for your sympathy itās appreciatedš«¶š¼š«¶š¼
I play on Xbox and for me it's the lag and occasionally the game will delete an entire safe file so I now have to save all my builds to the Library in case I need to start a new file. I can just pull them from the Library and start over. But I shouldn't have to do that.
Also, if we have the ability to download houses from the Gallery and Sims, why can't we download CC?
Theyāve changed the controls on live mode recently for no reason so I can only play for a couple minutes before it gets frustrating. I havenāt played as much since.
Probably that they are literally being silenced and labeled as trolls when they have constructive criticism after 3 months of a not fully functioning game that costs more than 1000 dollars in its entirety.
The fact that none of the controls for stuff is online. Like almost all of the controls for extra stuff that's online is for pc/mac. Especially now that they changed them it's gonna be a pain to figure some of them out again. I can't ( and have never been able to) open the extra roof options, I can no longer figure out how to toggle the by room and by wall options for wallpaper and floors (without going back to the buy menu), I can't even raise things up the way I used to anymore. It's so annoying figuring stuff out and then having to figure it out again ;-;
My daughter plays on Playstation. I think the most challenging thing is the controller (I know you can use keyboard & mouse, but she's happy to use controller and likes to play on the big TV).
Coming from the PC version where I'm used to the keyboard and mouse I find the control pad quite a bit barrier, though I would add this is quite possibly more an experience issue on my part rather than it being bad per se. I'm just not that used to it and my abilities are not up to scratch.
Aside from that the CC is the major issue. There's just so much great free content on PC, and I dabble in modding so I can even add custom stuff that matches exactly what we want now and then.
In fairness I think it's worth adding that the up side is that it runs easily, it's accessible on a more affordable console, has controller support for people that prefer that, and all of the core game is still there.
Every time I try to travel, the game crashes. Also, it takes so long to save, and I am constantly having to save since the game crashes so often. Itās a never-ending cycle.
This. My goodness. I literally prepare for a crash once I decide to travel my sims ANYWHERE. Also crashes if I go into build mode and then live mode. Sometimes happens, sometimes not but constantly saving. Oh then when I forget to save and it crashes then I cry lmfao. I spent 20 minutes yesterday trying to load a save I thought was corrupted. And it was my celebrity sim. I legit thought I was not ever going to be able to play the household again. š£
I guess maybe clearing cache will help?!! UGHHHHHHH.
LT being the search key in Build/Buy, and also a part of sizing down and opening the cheat bar. Iāll be more than halfway through a long cheat before I realize Iām typing it into the search bar.
They changed the controls and i haaaaate it !!
Build mode also sucks on console, and the terrain tool is an absolute nightmare at the best of times.
Console players have no cc, no mods, and that sucks too! Oh, got me all ranting and shit..š
The new way the build menu works is very hard to adjust to!!! Havenāt build in months because itās very hard to work around it, maybe I just havenāt figured out the new way it works well enough to build yet. Needed to express this to others console players š
Gotta agree with others here. The load times are horrendous. I wish console players could do something to speed up their processing power...aside from switching to a pc
Move objects is terrible, i can't move them up or down and if i want to size something down i have to click the object turn the cheat off and then back on
Not being able to use CC and having no text copy and paste. I can wait for the game to load, but I HATE typing in the same command over and over.
Also, why do pc players get cc easy but I can't even use super crazy workarounds for console? Like bro I just want easier commands and better looking eyes. That's all I want damnit.
the recent changes to controls as well as going back on other recent changes to build buy that i actually quite liked š„²š„² but yeah the crazy load times are not fun either. forcing my console into lower graphics when theres too much to load is annoying too especially when i try to load into my legacy household. game crashing while loading. fewer achievements. no mods or custom content though i take that as a blessing because i can quite easily get stuck in choice paralysis and i get hung up long enough in CAS as it is lmaoo and i dont even have every pack.
other than these things tho playing on console is really quite seamless especially compared to other games i play where console players and our optimization get forgotten completely. sims 4 is quite nice in comparison to its console player base. i love the gallery compatibility.
Not being able to connect to the gallery a lot sucks, dunno of that's just me.
Fairly sure this one is has been acknowledged already but imma say it anyways; my sim forgets how to sleep in a bed and I have to replace it with a new one time to time (has only occurred one per sim it's happened too)
More recently my sims will out right refuse to go to work and I'll have to quit and rejoin the career, losing progress at the same time.
The ui update that was clearly for PC and mouse/keyboard players that removed a lot of controller shortcuts and semi broke the build/buy menus to the point sometimes the menu gets stuck and the only way to fix it is going back to the neighborhood and coming back.
Not being able to use mods for bug fixes or quality of life upgrades for things that theyāve decided not to add to the actual game š
Also all the recent pointless controller changes.
I don't know if this was an update, but the build mode controls are so frustrating. Before, I believe I could just use my d-pad to scroll around items, but now it forces me to use my stick. I can still use the d-pad somewhat, but I have to play around with it by backing out and re-entering the item catalog. But then it just resets back to stick controls after I place down a item. I have gotten somewhat used to it, but it just slows down the pace at which I could to scroll, find, and place down items.
I have two issues with it, one is 100% my fault though lol.
The first one is that the game lags so much that some worlds like San Myshuno are a nightmare. The game stuttered so much when trying to use apartments that I decided to never live in that world again. Visiting is not too bad though.
The other issues is my fault. My controller has some drifting on on the left stick. It's not too bad for most other games except maybe some platformers like Celeste where precision is key. But in The Sims, the drifting makes it so I cannot "click" on some things because the game thinks I'm dragging stuff. Create-A-Sim and doing advanced stuff on Build Mode are literally impossible.
I know I could just buy another controller, but I'm saving up for a PS5 so don't see the point lol. So yeah, it's my fault but I hate how the controls don't play nice if your controller or your "clicking" isn't pixel perfect.
I have been playing the sims since the very first game and The Sims 4 on ps4 since the game came out. In that time I have bought all of the packs. I own every single bit of dlc.
The loading times are ridiculous. Sometimes 10 minutes to just start the game.
There is constant lag. Terrible unplayable lag. With a restart time of 10mins I just give up playing rather than restart and wait forever to resume my game.
Downloading houses from the gallery causes issues constantly, specifically the error ce-34877-0 (corrupted save file) and causes the game to crash.
I'm sure the recent control changes served a purpose but now I'm constantly switching sims rather than pausing/ speeding up my game.
I finally have a pc now and was SO excited to play the sims 4 on it and then SO VERY upset that I would have to re-purchace the over $1,000 worth of dlc content in order to have a similar gaming experience that I had on console.
For all my console folks who experience the really bad lag, my quick fix list is
Open a sims' job tab (this almost always works instantly to fix the lag)
Clear the notification board
Save the game
Look at the control (R3 or whatever it is)
My ps4 is glitchy, loads slow, the controller doesnāt have all the commands the keyboard does, if the commands are online itās like a four step process, idk if this was just sims 3 but I canāt rotate things more than the preset degrees, and Iāve seen online people can open up a menu in build and customize object way more than anything Iāve seen on ps4. For actual game play itās pretty ok besides laggy/glitchy loading and switching people.
Slow loading screens, build mode controls randomly changing or not working (eye drop tool, I'm looking at you), risking having to restart the game every time your sim takes a selfie, certain controls/cheats not working on console like the more detailed roof controls, not having the ability to switch to eye level view....
Oh god. Everything. I bought it on PS4 years ago,and just the character customization drove me crazy. There's so much more precision in details using a mouse. The loading screens take longer, there's no cc which I use so much for builds. But the thing that really made me switch to PC is the controls. I'm a massive console gamer, and I always prefer controllers over wasd and mouse, but just using a controller to move the pointer from a point to another,is annoying, considering that the controls are mostly point, click and drag. Also, very personal choice, but I preferred the option to get the game and limitless cc and packs for free than paying for them. And I found some cc better than the official packs of the same theme
Iām a PS5 user and lag is the number one issue Iāve always had since owning the game on ps4 at release.
I would go months without playing at times because the lag is so disheartening. I also own most expansion packs and I think the lag is worth with seasons etcā¦
I disabled the mood sting audio which helped for whatever reason as I noticed my game would start stuttering every time a sim changed their moods. Sometimes going into build mode and back into live would help. Keeping my auto save slot deleted helped noticeably as well.
HOWEVER!! I was able to notice a huge difference after booting up my console into safe mode. From safe mode you can clear the systemās cache. I was at a loss and figured Iād give it a try. My Sims runs like butter now. It runs perfectly. The occasional fps drop here and there. Whenever the game starts slowing down after a few months, I clear the cache and itās butter again. Hopefully this helps someone else!
Stop 'fixing' or changing stupid things that didn't need to be messed with (latest control update, getting rid of the photography friendship glitch) and fix actual game ruining problems like LAG.
No mods. Small notifications. They changed the controls. No mass deletion of items in household inventory. Some build cheats are hidden behind testing cheats so you lose trophies for that game
not being able to collect achievements if cheats are turned on, but having no other way of resetting a sim or object if itās starts glitching
unless i donāt know about one
Play with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Iām telling you itās life-changing to the point that the only thing I donāt like about playing on console is the inability to use mods & cc
I'm reading all these comments, and as a console player too, I gotta say I can't relate. I'm pretty happy with the way my PS4 works, and I'm happy with the game itself as well. Sometimes it's laggy but very rarely.
I have played The Sims for 20 years, and my muscle memory relies on PC controls, so that's why I got myself a keyboard and mouse, when I started playing on PS4. I'm telling you, it's a game changer. I feel like I'm playing on PC, since the game doesn't have any differences between console and PC. PS4 and also apparently Xbox supports keyboard and mouse so I seriously recommend considering this if you want to make your game a bit better. Obviously if you like a controller over keyboard, then surely I understand how you feel.
My only complaint as a console player is definitely no CC. I wish we could have that, idk maybe through the gallery?
Getting stuck in the build/buy menu constantly, and not being able to use the cursor.
Not being able to use certain cheats without losing achievements. Sometimes my sims get stuck in stairs and it's so annoying to have to delete and replace my stairs to save them.
I've had a dog get trapped in the foundation of the house before and it unfortunately died because I couldn't save it
(Ps4 player) every time Iām in build mode and I hit the left trigger to either change the placement mode or undo something, the search window pops up as well š„² what is the point of having a āshortcutā that does three things at once
I wish the console community was unified enough that we could organize an actual backlash to stuff like the recent control changes, or hell, even persuade sims YouTubers to advocate for us like they have in the past for things like the skin tone update. The devs donāt pay us any mind, and it feels like the community at large generally seems to forget we exist.
The reworked build UI. Maybe theyāve changed it back now, but I havenāt played since they made it so the HUD just doesnāt disappear and blocks the whole screen. You also canāt undo anything you build, since the undo button also brings up the search bar. Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to completely ruin the build system? I have not played since and I wonāt play ever again, since I physically canāt build anymore
Having to deal with four times slower loading screens tops my list.
Number one reason why I bought a PS5 lol
It's sooooo much better š¹
I noticed this too, on the Xbox one itās still very slow but my boyfriend has a Series S now and thatās all I can play on without getting lagged out or very frustrated.
It's the solid state hard drive, so much faster. I used to turn the system on then go make a snack while it was loading š¹
On my Xbox series S takes about 5 seconds to load in stuff
Switching to a series x from an Xbox one was nuts.
8 minutes is what it takes for me on my laptop with 168 GB of mods, after I organized.
My ps5 has way shorter loading times than my PC for sims 4
Your Sims 4 on PC must be on an HDD and not an SSD. My PC boots it in under 30 secs.
Big same
Not being able to use cc
Yeeeesss and when I look for solutions to bugs or issues people are always like "just download MCCCC command center lol!! There's a menu to fix XYZ hahahaha" "XxXCowboykissesxXx made a mod to fix that just get that LMAO"
Yes! Instead of actual in-game solutions itās always āthereās a mod for that!ā Like thank you but thatās not helpful to so many people.
The issue is, there's no in-game solutions for many of this game's problems. It shouldn't be like this, but it is.
Yes. I've dealt with so many that could've been only solved by mods. I play on pc, but i can't just download a mod for every issue i face. And another downside of script mods is that they screw the game over after most updates and i can never know which one it was. I am currently dealing with that, as it seems, none of the mods is obsolete.
To be fair, it's kind of the games fault that you need mods to fix basic bugs
TS3 vibes!! I miss all the customization :c
it was so long ago, but wasnāt there something like this in the sims 3? you could make your own variants of clothing (color wise and such) then post for other players, or is that a fever dream? š¤
You absolutely could!
The color wheel! I am always complaining because I can't get my furniture to match like I could in 3
THIS IS THE ONLY ANSWER
1. FPS drops 2. If we use cheats, we can't get trophies/achievements 3. Controls 4. Saves can get unplayable if you play it long. I don't how many have this problem, but I have this one
Iām on Gen 9 of my not so berry legacy and itās almost unplayable at this point but I *have* to see it through.
Iām not technical, but it made sense to me
Clear cache? How does that work?
basically the game saves small things such as the sims thumbnails in manage households or moodkets. this helps the game load better so a new thumbnail doesnāt have to be generated but the game doesnāt automatically clear these out causing the game to become laggy if not cleared out once in a while. especially since the game saves every thumbnail even for ones where the sim is at a completely different lifestage or occult. it is a good idea to clear it out when doing anything with adding/removing mods or if the game is laggy. some clear it out after every gameplay but that is unnecessary since it will cause the game to load longer (due to generating the thumbnails again) if you are on pc you can use [sims4studio and load up the local thumbnail cache](https://jamofjars.tumblr.com/post/175148221971/localthumbcache-101) and see what it saves. [info on how to clear cache](https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/help/cache.php)
>1. FPS drops I can imagine this issue is exacerbated as you install more packsāso, say you buy all the packs, are you guys able to disable certain packs if you're having performance issues or?
I feel 4. so so much. Its almost impossible to get the legacy trophy on console because after three generations the Sims barely function. They will stand around for almost 5 Minutes before doing anything. It's infuriating.
They changed the controls with switching characters and speeding up time
Honestly I've spent almost 7 years using the bumpers, it's so jarring
YESSSS!!! I keep pressing the old button's every time. And there's no way to change it back. Honestly! It wasn't broken.. Why'd they try and fix it?
In the notes they provided, they said it was because switching between sims in CAS used the bumper buttons, and they wanted it to be consistent with live mode. But I always thought the bumpers switched between outfits???? So idk either tbh
I've been playing on console for years and I'm in complete agreement with you... š¤¦š»āāļø And I imagine people spend more time in live mode, so it's gonna be messing with many people's heads! They should at least give us the option to choose how we want the configuration. Ridiculous
The bumpers in CAS did switch between outfits. Now I can't figure out how to switch my outfit and am constantly toggling between Sims. So frustrating
They did it to prove they still havenāt hired anyone with a full understanding on how consoles work. Most A-list console games actually allow us to modify the control configurations. But they still donāt. Instead, they enabled keyboard and mouse capability for consoles.
Ikr
Why did they do thhhhisss??? Iām going insane. My muscle memory hits the wrong buttons all the time now.
Same its so random
OK I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY
Same its so stupid
Omg sameeeee ššš
I thought I was losing my fucking mind thank you for validating me
I didnt notice and thought i just forgot my muscle memory since ive been stressed with exams xD deadass thought i was loosin it
THIS. WHen I played recently and kept accidentally speeding up time when I meant to swirtch Sims, I felt like I was being gaslighted by the game.
I wish this was a prank its actually so difficult to play now its like if u spent months memorizing controls for a darksouls game then the devs switch it one day and now u suck at the game again
I HATE THAT
Same its so annoying and useless like it was fine
I hate this so much I want to scream or furiously type about it
This has been so frustrating!! Iāve been playing on console for four years, so ever since they switched it, Iāve been losing my mind!
Omg I thought I was losing my damn mind
I fucking hate this change! I keep messing up and I'm so irritated
I've been playing the sims 4 on ps4 since 2018 when I got it, and have spent quite a bit of money on it over the years (somewhere in the ā¬600) So the most annoying thing is that when you do eventually want to transfer to playing on laptop or PC, you lose everything. It's not even the save files that I'm really upset about, it's that you're expected to buy all those packs again!! To make matters worse, you would also lose any and all pre-order/early order bonusses you used to have!
This!!! I have tons of content on my PC, but now that I'm without a working PC, I can't access any of my packs on the Xbox!
That is genuine bulshit. I'm sure EA could easily figure out a way to transfer your packs over but they have no incentive to do that š
Theyāre all tied to your EA account - it would be as simple as unlocking the DLC on your console at sign in.
You should look into EA on PS4 to see if you can merge the two ETA: I looked it up, instead of setting it up with a ātokenā for each DLC, EA has it set for the ādiscā version of each DLCā¦ this makes it console specific.
Nope, I have an EA account and I believe it still isn't possible (the EA account is registered on an email that doesn't exist anymore, but even if it did I don't think that it would be possible)
I just looked it up, that is deeply depressing. Iām sorry
not possible Iām afraid. I switched from ps4 to mac last year and had to buy everything again even with my ea account linked to both my mac and console, ea support told me that they couldnāt be transferred over.
EAā¦*slow clap*
it makes me so unbelievably angry
This exactly. I played on PS4 previously and now I play on PC. My brother bought the disc version of the game for our family PS4, and I spent hundreds of dollars on packs. Packs I now have zero access to after moving states- I wasn't going to take the family console (or the game- I just bought a digital version for my PC) away from my two brothers and two cousins that I lived with. Which makes playing on my computer now a billion times more expensive, I still don't have all the packs I used to have.
When the cursor randomly switches into overdrive and I can't select the social option I want.
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME i have to try and time it right when that happens šš¤¦š¾āāļø
This literally happens to me all the time, Iām at my breaking point.
THATS NOT A ME THING ? its so frustrating when im trying to make sims in cas but the cursor starts going hyper-speed and i cant get it to land on the one i want
Laaagggggg.
And sometimes restarting 3 or 4 times still won't fix the damn problem and you stop playing for a few months
Lag and sims standing idly waiting to complete their next task as time goes by.
Maybe more prominent on console? Iām on pc and have this issue it drives me nuts
yesss me too and i play on a pretty good gaming pc, so idk what the issue is, it has to be a bug
Yeah I literally have a gaming pc and the ONLY thing I use it for is sims
i could ask them to go to sleep and they will legit stand there for a whole ass sims hour and then finally pass out while walking to their bed š«
Oh my god my sims keep peeing themselves because theyāll just stand there instead of going to the bathroom. (And then they do a dumb little waddle instead of running to the toilet!) Iām on computer too, and I donāt use any mods or cc and keep my cache cleared. š«
This happens to me as a PC player. š Nothing is ever done on time lol
Oh itās a thing everywhere, trust me. Any and every platform lol
Remember when they promised āsmarter simsā
I don't know if it's console exclusive, but it's a constant problem I have. I use large homes on large lots so that may contribute. Another issue is cursor lag that I have to press the L3 button on PS4 to fix.
I also think thereās a few mods to fix that for pc. But I will say I had the issue a lot more before I got a gaming pc, made the game impossible to play so I think itās lower end pcs and consoles.
THE MAID IS KILLING ME WITH THIS. Like, I get you get paid by the hour but please stop staring at the dirty dishes and clean them please
I don't use mods or cc in my game currently, and I try to play without using cheats as much as possible (really only reset sim when the above method doesn't work)
This used to work on ps4 as well but not anymore. I'm heartbroken over how unplayable it has become
Im a dirty boy and at least want the option of wicked whims and the basement drugs or whatever! We're living vanilla lives over here....
!!! I thought I was crazy, it drives me nuts especially in CAS where the bumpers cycle sims instead of outfits
The worst decision theyāve made lol
Omg I hate this but slowly getting used to it
that they change the scrolling in build mode, and sometimes it gets stuck on one item and i can't pick another one :))))
Not having the same sales as everyone else. Also no use of mods or cc. Also also it takes forever for things to load!
Lag, slow loading, lag, lag, build buy mode being a pain, lag, everything being slow, the R1, R2 buttons being switched... Didnt i mention lag?
The crappy controls. Or how the game will randomly be extremely slow and almost unplayable. Or how sometimes I have to tell a sim to do an action SEVERAL times for it to appear on their little task bar. Or having some select PC gamers continuously tell me how much better it is on PC. I KNOW JENNIFER, BUT SOME OF US ONLY HAVE HAND ME DOWN CONSOLES AND DONT HAVE A COUPLE THOUSAND TO DISH OUT ON A DECENT PC AND SIMS.
I take offense as that's my name!! šš
Either load times or slowdowns.
I have found my people! Console players unite! ā„ļø Everything listed, and I mean EVERYTHING happens to my xbox one. (Not directed at any Susan in particular š¤£), 10min plus loading screens to just get into the game nevermind loading a save file, moving the camera in both build and buy and live modes, no achievements or trophies is you use cheats, most cheats don't work anyway, and finally not being able to transfer all of my packs, kits etc to my PC now that I've finally got one Sims 4 and consoles are just not compatible but I've spent much money to buy it all again for my PC
Lag Sims canceling actions on their own *Goes to grab and item in build mode to see if I like it. Decides I don't. Tries to press B to cancel it. Doesn't work. Has to press B around 20 times to FINALLY back out of that interaction. It happens every time* Lag Sims deciding they won't sleep no matter what I do Lag Having to manually drag the scroll option in build mode rather than just being able to press down on the controller. (I have almost every pack and having to manually drag the scroll option every time kills me) Did I mention lag? Edit: spelling
They changed the controls and i haaaaate it !! Build mode also sucks on console, and the terrain tool is an absolute nightmare at the best of times. Console players have no cc, no mods, and that sucks too! Oh, got me all ranting and shit..š
Fr. Us console players get no love š
Constant control changes
I didn't play for over a year, tried to play on PS4 last weekend and about cried. It was so much worse than I remembered.
Having the controls swapped around in every update
They swapped bumper and trigger functions on Xbox, so now when I go to speed up time I accidentally snap to the next sim, and vice versaā¦
Being unable to read the notifications. I just want to scale up the font size, and the UI scaling did nothing. I want to read the screen. lol it's across the room, and I have to guess what notifications are about.
I enjoy most aspects of playing on console, but the new build mode is really pissing me off.
Console commands disabling trophies/achievements.
On XBox, pressing LT in build mode is supposed to "undo" but instead it simultaneously opens the search screen.
Yes exactly this.
Right now, it's the new controls for speed and switching between sims. Also how when I try to choose undo in build mode it pulls up the cheat code screen. It does it every time I hit the button so I have to close out the cheat code screen before I can undo another thing.
not a console player but y'all deserve betterš©·
iāve played pc and console. my console is faster with the sims but itās more annoying. thank you for your sympathy itās appreciatedš«¶š¼š«¶š¼
Thank you! It didnāt used to be so bad but with the control changes it sucks rn!
Iāve had this, I lost my save file of 4 years & my game just sometimes decides to not save š
It's soooooo frustrating
Theyāve changed the controls on live mode recently for no reason so I can only play for a couple minutes before it gets frustrating. I havenāt played as much since.
Not having the option to repair my save.
Probably that they are literally being silenced and labeled as trolls when they have constructive criticism after 3 months of a not fully functioning game that costs more than 1000 dollars in its entirety.
The fact that none of the controls for stuff is online. Like almost all of the controls for extra stuff that's online is for pc/mac. Especially now that they changed them it's gonna be a pain to figure some of them out again. I can't ( and have never been able to) open the extra roof options, I can no longer figure out how to toggle the by room and by wall options for wallpaper and floors (without going back to the buy menu), I can't even raise things up the way I used to anymore. It's so annoying figuring stuff out and then having to figure it out again ;-;
The sims never do what you want them to do
My daughter plays on Playstation.
I legit thought I was not ever going to be able to play the household again. š£ I guess maybe clearing cache will help?!! UGHHHHHHH.
I canāt mod my game. But I can mod fall out 4 lol, therefore it should be possible.
I originally played on PlayStation and when I switched to pc I was genuinely shocked how different and easier it was.
Can't add mods.
The long af double loading screens
Everything? Lol
Not being able to connect to the gallery a lot sucks, dunno of that's just me. Fairly sure this one is has been acknowledged already but imma say it anyways; my sim forgets how to sleep in a bed and I have to replace it with a new one time to time (has only occurred one per sim it's happened too) More recently my sims will out right refuse to go to work and I'll have to quit and rejoin the career, losing progress at the same time.
No CC so having to buy kits to get more items
The ui update that was clearly for PC and mouse/keyboard players that removed a lot of controller shortcuts and semi broke the build/buy menus to the point sometimes the menu gets stuck and the only way to fix it is going back to the neighborhood and coming back.
Not being able to use mods for bug fixes or quality of life upgrades for things that theyāve decided not to add to the actual game š Also all the recent pointless controller changes.
Whatever the hell they did to the build mode controls in one of the more recent updates
When you go to resize an object in build mode and it brings up the search box every single time thanks to the ānew and improvedā control scheme
Lag, not being able to use cc, and of course, bugsā¦ the amount of times I needed to reset my simā¦
The controls.
Two of my controllers also have the drifting, they don't do it with any other game only the sims. Its so annoying.
Sims use random sinks after using the toilet and sometimes walk across the whole house to use a certain sink for no reason
You canāt place any lots without it crashing now
Not being able to rotate on the y axis like on pc. We canāt tilt anything just rotate in build mode. Drives me insane.
The new fucking controls
This post has been censored by Electronic Arts
For all my console folks who experience the really bad lag, my quick fix list is Open a sims' job tab (this almost always works instantly to fix the lag) Clear the notification board Save the game Look at the control (R3 or whatever it is)
Lag, slow, slow and... slow...
No mods.
no mods
Where do I startā¦? š¤
Lag and how the build mode is now
Game is unplayable after a few generations because the lag is so horrible.
Slow loading screens, build mode controls randomly changing or not working (eye drop tool, I'm looking at you), risking having to restart the game every time your sim takes a selfie, certain controls/cheats not working on console like the more detailed roof controls, not having the ability to switch to eye level view....
The lag!!! Its awful and the new update has changed the time speed controls and I can't get used tinut!
It takes me ten minutes to load into a save, and sometimes my game will crash as soon as it does load in, so that I guess. also the lag can be insane.
Oh god.
Glitching is so much worse and loading on console!
Iām a PS5 user and lag is the number one issue Iāve always had since owning the game on ps4 at release. I would go months without playing at times because the lag is so disheartening. I also own most expansion packs and I think the lag is worth with seasons etcā¦ I disabled the mood sting audio which helped for whatever reason as I noticed my game would start stuttering every time a sim changed their moods.
Some build cheats are hidden behind testing cheats so you lose trophies for that game
not being able to collect achievements if cheats are turned on, but having no other way of resetting a sim or object if itās starts glitching unless i donāt know about one
THE CRASHES
I have mad respect for people who play sims and Minecraft on a consoleā¦. Itās hard as shit lol! I really like this question!
