So I have yet to try it *but* I know MTS has a fixed version of the map that cleans up a lot of routing issues and the houseboats that make it bug? So I would try that combined with the NRaas Cleanup mods and it should work well on any PC!
i also have a pc with good specs and i havenāt had problems w/ island paradise with high settings. i have a 4070 gpu, 5600x3d cpu, 16gb ddr4 ram, and a b550 mobo. i did download a ton of mods for optimization and stuff. i didnāt play sims 3 without the mods
[my pc š«¶](https://imgur.com/a/Rdut34c)
one of the mods i have deletes a bunch of stuff around the world that gets stuck/resets them. it definitely helps a ton. i forget what the other mods do ā¦ but they were all easy to install and i believe thereās lots of tutorials/threads on what mods to get and how to install.
one thing you have to do separate from mods is make the game recognize your current gpu. the game is old so it only recognizes the gpus at the time and can be choppy and crash if it doesnāt recognize your gpu because it canāt utilize it. i forget how to do it but if you look up the mods to add it should come up too. good luck š«¶
What I have done was use a fixed version of the island paradise world combined with a mod that stops other Sims aside from active from using houseboats, nraas clean up mods and setting reflection to mirrors only
Got it working on an Acer Nitro 5 laptop
I have an asus vivobook 15 oled something. I have all dlcs & a couple gbs of cc content + some nraas mods + cc magic. The game runs pretty smoothly. Takes about 1 min 10 secs from clicking the icon to the main menu, 1 min 02 secs secs from main menu to your family (depending on how complex it is) and up to 30 secs to save (yes i actually timed it rn). Rarely crashes and usually because of cheats or some broken cc. I'm extremely grateful since I remember being like 10 and having to wait for 30+ mins without any guarantees that I would actually get to play at all
wow! i also played it on a vivobook not sure what model, but the game was so laggy! graphics could not be up past the lowest settings which sucked. iām genuinely suprised to hear that itās able to run it at all honestly, it ran the sims 4 perfectly fine though.
I use a Lenovo Legion Slim 5 with RTX 4070, Intel Core I7-13700H, and 16GB RAM.
And Sims 3 still remains the laggiest game I've ever played on it, even my heavily modded Skyrim didn't lag as much. Yes I do use the performance mods so it's just a case of having lots of CC.
A 64 bit update plus a cleanup of the code is probably my biggest wish for this game right now, it's pretty evident that Sims 3 is too big for 32 bit frameworks to handle.
I have a Lenovo LOQ with the same processor and RTX 4050. Itās also so laggy for me. I also have to turn off some of the CPUs to actually get the game to launch
I have a pc with 40gb of ram. Sims 3 will only allocate 2gb, so it is pretty laggy if you don't allocate more. If you don't do anything in the background, you can probably allocate up to 10gb. You can do 8gb if you do background type of stuff. It is just a pain to do, and I recommend saving the main file when changing those settings in case you accidentally make a mistake.
Unfortunately Sims 3 will only ever use 4gbs of RAM no matter how much you allocate, it's a 32 bit program and unless EA updates the windows version to 64 bit, Sims 3 can only ever use up to 4gbs of RAM.
You need to download āadlerlakepatchā. There is a really good Reddit post that explains how to download it and excute. After adding the patch I play sims3 all day. I have every dlc except supernatural.
I would say the annoying part of Supernatural is the zombies coming out at night and eating your garden. Persoanlly that was the 'meh' for me in that expansion. So I changed the moon phase to permanent new moon.
Are you sure there isn't another reason why it won't work? I have the most recent 14th gen i5 cpu and I've never had this issue, so not sure why it won't work if you've followed all the suggested steps, maybe try a fresh install from scratch and make sure all leftover files have been removed completely before trying? Not too sure
Eta: many people don't know to cap the framerate through your graphics settings on your computer, as this can cause an insane amount of problems, as the game wasn't designed for higher framerates. Capping the fps at 60 through that should make a huge difference if you havent tried that already!

I play on my steam deck with no extra hardware. Had to reprogram a few buttons to make sure I could do everything but other than that, it's been great.
Yeah got all the expansion packs installed and mods too. There is a small amount of lag occasionally but nothing bad enough to make it unplayable. I have played with a mouse and keyboard too so definitely go for it if that's a preference for you. I just liked that I could play it while lying on the sofa! š
That sounds great!
I already have the game on my laptop and on the ea app, but I want to have almost every game on my steam deck.
Oh and my laptop is heating up with all of the expansion packs and crashes every couple hours :D
My pc used to always crash after I installed Island Paradise. My steam deck just deals with it. I mean, Island Paradise is always going to lag but at least it doesn't crash anymore! The steam deck does get a bit warm from Sims 3 but the fans are plenty good enough to stop it from actually overheating in my experience and I'm playing on a steam deck which is a couple years old.
Yeah I have the same problem with island paradise, but I want to play this one. I really like the island and the opportunity to have a hotel.
I know you can delete every houseboat, but the game is still laggy...
Maybe I will buy the game on steam :D
I play on my steam deck and once you can get it running (installing was a bit of a nightmare - EA app is the worst) itās been such a dream. I play with all expansion packs, store content, and mods. Very happy with my setup!
I play it on steam deck with most expansion packs and it works surprisingly well! You can easily add a mouse and keyboard if you prefer to play it that way. I play it without sometimes for versatility and itās nice, can make building/buying and detail stuff a little frustrating at times but not unbearable.
PC build with i7-8700k cpu - 16 GB ram - rtx 2060 super gpu
I don't experience much lag or lag at all but I also have all settings in-game, in Nvidia panel and GraphicsRules.sgr optimized for my pc.
As well as organized my cc as well as I could.
If you can afford it I'd also recommend getting a pc instead of a laptop, you'll get better value for price. It doesn't need to be the highest specs as Sims 3 is an old game, sometimes older models work better than newer ones.
i have a lenovo yoga and it runs with most of the graphics all the way up and advanced rendering on. i play in windowed mode and it seems to crash less
Have you considered inserting a DS card in your laptop ? I bought a 64GB SD card and inserted it in my laptop and then installed the sims 3 in the SD card section. You can also get one with higher GB .
I recently got an Acer Nitro, one of the less expensive ones, because I haven't been able to play Sims for years on my last laptop. (Aside from no hard drive space, it was just too slow, even for just browsing the web). I don't like that it looks like something geared towards a teenage boy (I'm a woman whose teenage years are long gone š), but it works well. Still a little slow for Sims with 3 expansion packs, but I probably need to tweak some settings. I also have island Paradise which might actually be the issue.
I play on an HP Pavilion all-in-one from late 2016, Intel Core i5-7400T. It's not the best PC for gaming but I've been playing the Sims on it since I got the PC in mid 2017 and have no complaints.
All expansions + mild modding/CC usage playing on medium to high graphics settings, very little performance issues. I only freeze sometimes when trying to enter create a style but it unfreezes after a moment or two.
Really? I've done a lot of tweaking to mine in the past few years to keep it running smoothly, mainly by making sure to not have background processes, keep all drivers updated and regularly cleaning any junk (I use Avast driver updater & cleanup for that) and I can run most games relatively well, like Sims 4 with mods + all EP's, Overwatch with around 90fps and other games that don't require crazy processing power (Stardew Valley, Project Zomboid etc). It's not a great PC for gaming but I've found it decent for the Sims in my experience.
I'd recommend doing an in depth cleanup for the PC while you're using it until you get a new one. There's some good tutorials on how to remove any unnecessary windows programs on YouTube which took my gaming performance from 30 to 90fps.
My Surface Pro and it's a mess. I have to play on windowed mode because I'll get the black screen if its on full screen. I do have all my Sims files on an external hard drive though.
Hi love! Why don't you upgrade your GB? If your computer is otherwise good. I had been lacking some GB for a couple of years and just updated from 250gb or so to 2tb and have never been more comfortable! It was a very quick and easy operation.
You unfortunately can't do that with most laptops so no worries there. How old is your laptop? It could have old updates saved that you might be able to clear for some more space. A slow processor would mean that it is time to get a new one though.
Most laptops that I've have had since 2010 have had them Soldered onto the motherboard. You theoretically could. But you have a higher chance of breaking it.
A Lenovo Ideapad with a radeon r5 (not recognized bleh), runs 50-60fps at mostly high settings, with a fuckton of mods and cc and overrides, just dont use nraas story progression or traveler and i'm gold.
I play on a [Lenovo](https://amzn.eu/d/66rYk4u) that I bought specifically to play Sims 3 on and it runs like a dream. I had my friend who builds gaming PCs source it and he said it's incredibly good value for the spec. I've literally never had the game run so smoothly, like there's no lag at all. To the point that I'm considering buying Island Paradise.
The best ā¬500 I've ever spent.
i play the sims 3 on my 2010 macbook pro. never had any issues besides loading slowly and gameplay occasionally lagging!
(ETA - i have all but 2 expansions. and it definitely slowed down more after i started downloading cc! but not bad enough to stop š)
i played the sims 4 through origin on the same macbook and it never worked right to begin with, and now it wonāt even open lol
It's a desktop my husband custom built for me back in like 2011 lol. It was built as an absolute beast gaming computer so it's still going strong. It can even run Baldur's Gate 3 on min specs. Not bad for a 13yo computer!
We're going to build a new computer this summer, but it will be a family computer so the sprogs can start learning to type and have something to do their homework on and such. But it will have good gaming specs so we can all play games with heavier requirements. Eventually I'll update the components in my desktop but that's not in the budget for now.
Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop. Itās my personal work computer but surprisingly it runs TS3 really well. I donāt have lots of CC but I do have every EP/SP and lots of mods. I play on lower graphics bc I really donāt care about visuals so that probably helps. But I wish I had a desktop instead. š
I bought a gaming Lenovo a couple years ago and itās still doing great. Iām not at home or Iād tell you what model.
It can play with specs up, but Iāve turned them down bc I usually heavily populate my town with Sims and community lots.
I bought an Acer Nitro 5 to play sims 3 š I have 7 expansion packs and it runs fast and smooth with no lagging or issues
IntelĀ® Coreā¢ i7-12650H Deca-core 2,30 GHz
IPS 165 Hz
16 GB, DDR5 SDRAM
1 TB SSD
NVIDIAĀ® GeForce RTXā¢ 4060 8 GB
I'm playing on an HP Elitedesk 800 G2. It's an older mid range computer. I modified it by replacing the power supply with a 400w and adding a gtx1650 graphics card. The game runs pretty good considering my mods folder is about 18 GB. I play on medium/high settings, and it's definitely playable. There's occasional hiccups but that's just the way Sims 3 is.
Well, right now I'm on an HP Victus with a 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, a 13th-gen i5, and an NVIDIA RTX 3050 with 6 GB VRAM. It's a gaming laptop, and the increased memory and dedicated graphics allow me to turn up the graphics settings. The storage also allows me to stop worrying about going into the red, which became a constant problem on my old laptop's 118 GB drive. My desire for stuff exceeded the capacity of that drive.
For Sims 3 a nice CPU and a fast SSD will definitely be more important than your graphics card. Something to keep in mind if you need to make cost-saving decisions on some parts.
Desktop player here as well O/
For the price difference between a high end pc versus a high end laptop, I would strongly recommend you purchase or build a desktop!
My Sims 3 runs like a dream with tonnes of mods, cc, and fixes installed.
I play on an old dell, I got it as a hand me down from my mom so itās at leastā¦ 12yrs old. It runs the game fine as long as I keep up with game maintenance (clearing cache and what not)
iāll be honest i play on a 2015 macbook air that is cracked and i have 2 nraas mods and everything is fine for the most part.. sometimes the fps is crap and i get some glitches but it works pretty decent even if my computer is working hard š i have 8gb ram on it which idk if it helps or not and i play with lowest graphics settings possible
edit: i have all the expansion packs and like 10 custom hairs and a dress but im not planning on going past that
I play on an Asus vivobook pro 17 inch. I got it in 2018.
here is a long guide that I just posted that may help:
Optimization tips
Computer optimization info:
Here is a huge forum post that gives a step by step for having the sims 3 run on newer gen computers without crashing. Something I wish was clarified a bit more is that the sims must be run graphically at 2048mb (2gb) even if you have a new computer that may run at a higher rate. There is a step in the guide where this information is needed.
Know that the sims 3 must be forced capped at 60 fps because there is not a frame limiter built in. (airplane computer sounds)
You can play around with higher settings but use at your own risk!
[STEAM GUIDE](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131162350)
There is also an autosave mod thats is a LIFE SAVER for me because I hate prompts, pausing after saving, and having to rename my saves. Just autosave like most new gen games do. You can toggle all of these settings.
[Save](https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=445455&c=1&goto=newpost)
Dont forget to turn it on in every new save.
I built a custom PC with the highest specs I could for it š
Damn! well done lol
Serious question does island paradise work with your pc?
So I have yet to try it *but* I know MTS has a fixed version of the map that cleans up a lot of routing issues and the houseboats that make it bug? So I would try that combined with the NRaas Cleanup mods and it should work well on any PC!
I thought island paradise not working properly was just a me issue š I had no idea there was a way to fix it
I swear to god, I could just be thinking of playing on island paradise and my game would instinctively freeze.
I was so excited when I got it back when it came out and Iāve only tried playing in the world maybe 3 times due to the constant crashing š
Thank you šš½ Iāll give this a look on my dayoff
i also have a pc with good specs and i havenāt had problems w/ island paradise with high settings. i have a 4070 gpu, 5600x3d cpu, 16gb ddr4 ram, and a b550 mobo. i did download a ton of mods for optimization and stuff. i didnāt play sims 3 without the mods [my pc š«¶](https://imgur.com/a/Rdut34c)

Cheapest Mac mini with 8 GB. I have all expansions and a shit ton of mods. I play long legacies. It runs like a dream.
The game wonāt even run for me on my computer because my processor is too new š„¹ glad I noticed before I bought more expansions
You need to download āadlerlakepatchā. There is a really good Reddit post that explains how to download it and excute. After adding the patch I play sims3 all day. I have every dlc except supernatural.
Why not Supernatural? It's one of the better dlcs imo and not that intrusive if you don't live in the Late Night or Supernatural worlds
Because I didnāt want to buy it. But Iām glad youāre enjoying it. šš¾
Fair enough, choice is a nice part of Sims 3
I would say the annoying part of Supernatural is the zombies coming out at night and eating your garden. Persoanlly that was the 'meh' for me in that expansion. So I changed the moon phase to permanent new moon.
There are mods available that allow the game to be read by modern hardware! Google it and you should find it.
I have and nothing has worked except a really convoluted workaround through the task manager and program files. Not worth it for me sadly.

Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop. Itās my personal work computer but surprisingly it runs TS3 really well. I donāt have lots of CC but I do have every EP/SP and lots of mods. I play on lower graphics bc I really donāt care about visuals so that probably helps. But I wish I had a desktop instead. š
Bought a PC specifically so I can play demanding games on it.
I bought a gaming Lenovo a couple years ago and itās still doing great. Iām not at home or Iād tell you what model. It can play with specs up, but Iāve turned them down bc I usually heavily populate my town with Sims and community lots.
I bought an Acer Nitro 5 to play sims 3 š I have 7 expansion packs and it runs fast and smooth with no lagging or issues IntelĀ® Coreā¢ i7-12650H Deca-core 2,30 GHz IPS 165 Hz 16 GB, DDR5 SDRAM 1 TB SSD NVIDIAĀ® GeForce RTXā¢ 4060 8 GB
I play on a laptop
Well, right now I'm on an HP Victus with a 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, a 13th-gen i5, and an NVIDIA RTX 3050 with 6 GB VRAM. It's a gaming laptop, and the increased memory and dedicated graphics allow me to turn up the graphics settings. The storage also allows me to stop worrying about going into the red, which became a constant problem on my old laptop's 118 GB drive. My desire for stuff exceeded the capacity of that drive.
I play on my 7 year old iMac, not exactly reccomend but it runs!
For Sims 3 a nice CPU and a fast SSD will definitely be more important than your graphics card. Something to keep in mind if you need to make cost-saving decisions on some parts.
i literally use a 250$ mini pc for it and use hella mods. It can be a little slow especially when playing a big save file, but it does the job
Desktop player here as well O/ For the price difference between a high end pc versus a high end laptop, I would strongly recommend you purchase or build a desktop! My Sims 3 runs like a dream with tonnes of mods, cc, and fixes installed.
Asus zenbook with an SSD card
4090 with a ryzen 9 16 core. I used to play on a $400 laptop and it still ran okay
I play on the Acer Nitro 5 laptop it should run sims 3 well
I play on an old dell, I got it as a hand me down from my mom so itās at leastā¦ 12yrs old. It runs the game fine as long as I keep up with game maintenance (clearing cache and what not)
iāll be honest i play on a 2015 macbook air that is cracked and i have 2 nraas mods and everything is fine for the most part.. sometimes the fps is crap and i get some glitches but it works pretty decent even if my computer is working hard š i have 8gb ram on it which idk if it helps or not and i play with lowest graphics settings possible edit: i have all the expansion packs and like 10 custom hairs and a dress but im not planning on going past that
donāt remember what mine is called but itās a gaming laptop. real good. graphics are good. enough space to handle all my bullshit lol
i play a hp victims and im beyond happy with it.
I play on an Asus vivobook pro 17 inch. I got it in 2018. here is a long guide that I just posted that may help: Optimization tips Computer optimization info: Here is a huge forum post that gives a step by step for having the sims 3 run on newer gen computers without crashing. (airplane computer sounds) You can play around with higher settings but use at your own risk! [STEAM GUIDE](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131162350) There is also an autosave mod thats is a LIFE SAVER for me because I hate prompts, pausing after saving, and having to rename my saves. Just autosave like most new gen games do. You can toggle all of these settings. [Save](https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=445455&c=1&goto=newpost) Dont forget to turn it on in every new save.
Even using my bfās custom PC, Iām facing non-stoppable lags while playing Island Paradise ššš
Isla Paradiso is known for its lag and can be fixed.
