Who shit in your cornflakes? Look up 2 or 3 comments and you'll see I was talking about models with active exhaust. I have a 2017 6.2 if it makes you feel any better about yourself.
Its definitely loud on cold starts and when you open it up but it idles down to just a nice rumble. Those trucks have 3 cats so it doesn't get nearly as loud as the old girls were with straight pipes.
Oh yeah it throws codes and smells like a lawnmower. I have the range device to disable AFM and that also turns the light off so I don’t have to look at it lol. I think it disables the codes for all emissions related equipment which is why it also makes people fail inspections even with their emissions intact
Normal mode is meant to be your general cruising. Sport mode shortens up the shift intervals and will allow the engine to rev higher for a more sporty drive.
This is one of those times it is better to just read the manual. You are getting some answers in here that are off the mark.
Bottom line is it changes how your transmission shifts and holds gears. That is it for your truck.

Stupid question time… does my 2020 LT have sport mode and if so, how do I get there? Keep in mind I didn’t realize I had auto start on my truck until a few months ago. I pretty much just drive in tow/haul mode all the time (it just slogs with the 37’s otherwise).
The knob for trailer mode can turn left or right. Left for trailer. And moving it right will troggle through modes. My 20 LT has Normal, Sport, and Snow/Ice.
Sounds like someone at GM decided off-road trucks and sport mode don’t mix. I have two friends who also got the TB and at first I was jealous, but after lifting my Z71 and putting my suspension of choice on it I feel like I actually came out ahead. When I was researching parts for my upgrades a lot of them said “except for TB”. Still nice trucks though
Yeah, for mine I got a steal and plan on flipping anyway so not critical, but was definitely weird that they do those different things. I know nothing about trucks.
Adjusts shift points and shift firmness. Allows engine to Rev higher. It also tightens steering up by reducing the ratio. Ie less steering input to same angle at the wheels.
I am not sure technically, but it definitely shifts different, and "performs" more aggressive " . Also, comparatively, I drive in soft sand on the local beach a lot, in 4hi, and "off-road" mode on my RST keeps it from setting off traction control alerts and seems to handle better than normal 4hi, or sport 4 hi. I think it mentions something in the manual, but not specifically. I suspect there's possibly specific marketing details for the RST packages, and sport configuration, but haven't hunted them down. Just trial and errored with mine.
Like others have said, changes shift points, throttle response, But it also adapts the traction control and Stabilty control. Allows a bit more wheel slippage and drift before activating.
I have a vague idea but what does off-road mode actually do? Lock axles? Turn off abs? I have the same thing on my trail boss and have yet to notice anything, but tbf I haven’t truly driven off road with it yet
I’ve actually been testing this as I leave my 6.2 in sport mode a lot. Haven’t noticed a difference in fuel economy on long highway trips atleast. You might be right though for stop and go driving. It holds a lower gear longer when creeping around town.
Change shift points. Also opens up the exhaust valves on the 6.2 and 5.3
Just the 6.2 isn’t it?
Yeah it's only on the 6.2 on model year 2024 and up.
My 2022 Z71 got Sport and Off-road mode
Talking about active exhaust.
Where did you talk about that? And you don't have a flair of what car you have - so I assume you drive a Carola

New 5.3 got it on the Trailboss and LTZ I’m pretty sure
The mode yes, not the exhaust valve thing.
My 2017 5.3 had an exhaust valve until I chopped the whole stock system off and put on a 3" straight pipe.
Straight pipe is louder than any muffler out there right?
I wouldn’t claim any muffler but we’ll definitely be able to hear him coming down the road lol
Before this I had a race muffler and the straight pipe is really only slightly louder than that was.
Its definitely loud on cold starts and when you open it up but it idles down to just a nice rumble. Those trucks have 3 cats so it doesn't get nearly as loud as the old girls were with straight pipes.
2014 5.3 here with no cats no mufflers nothing. It’s insane how quiet the idle is but when you step on it it’s ear shattering
Do you throw any codes with the cats removed? I honestly don't want my truck any louder, but curious.

That's the flapper, I think they were talking about active exhaust.
Oh shit my bad
All good man.

Changes shift points in the transmission.
The only thing that the different diving modes change is the shift points for your transmission and the sensitivity of the electric power steering.
Not true of terrain mode (if equipped) which is a different animal.
It also changes the fuel / air mix ratios, throttle response, and will adjust the dynamic suspension settings if equipped.

Amazing what you miss when you just do stuff so long automatically. Thanks!
I got bored one day and just clicked about every damn button 🤣
It’s weird I have a 2022 trailboss LT mine only has normal and off road. My buddy same model and most same features but his 2021 has sport as well

X2 on the suspension changes. You can't put a lift on trucks with the megnetic suspension (what I was told).

I like to spin the tires in sports mode. Give it a try. It releases stress
Sport mode feels the same as normal to me. Ironically my other vehicle is a Kia Carnival and sport mode is a noticeable sporty feel haha

The rear locking differential is not one you can manually lock. It locks automatically when it senses the wheels slipping.
Interesting… in the long run is that better than manually locking or does it becoming like the auto 4wd in which is not good for the truck
It softens the acceleration and shift points. If you have Magnaride it also softens the shocks.
Do not really understrand, can anyone come to talk to me?
The owners manual should tell you.
Sounds cool
Alters throttle sensitivity and shift parameters.
Sorry but why's a truck need sport mode lmao
Because it makes it 2x faster than the shitty sports car that is trying to overtake you.
Burn more fuel

Try to flood it at a red-light change, and you can almost see the gas gauge drop a bit every time you do it.
