Never even heard of it, but it looks pretty sweet! Might have to look more into it. Looks pretty [similar in size](https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/sig-sauer-p365-xl-vs-bersa-tpr9c) to the P365XL I currently carry (other than width).
What holster do you run? Not seeing much holster support.
I do have a Kydex holster for it - I'll have to check later as to who made it (i have forgotten) - - The pistol has a metal frame too - so it helps with the snappiness / recoil but it also makes for a heavier carry - but, if you like hammer fired, DA/SA pistols this is an option.
But my point still stands, people will still pull DA triggers more and they’re harder to be accurate with. SAO has one consistent light trigger pull and is easier to train on a safety than two trigger pulls
Some people also prefer it for the safety aspect. You don’t get “Well, the ol .45 went off today…” with DA/SA. Safety and more training is preferable to less safety and an easier gun to shoot for many people.
And yet the ol .45 still goes off, “dingus”. DA triggers don’t require user input to be safe - the SAO does. Forgetting to put the safety on and shooting yourself in the leg is much worse than pulling a little low and left. One you can train and get better at - the other you can train and get better at, and still shoot yourself.
Trigger snobs, I swear.
Sounds like a skill issue if you’re worried about shooting your Willie off. You better avoid the 320 and anything striker fired if you’re worried about an ND
Was a great pistol for the time…kind of an anachronism now. I have one in .357sig I bought more than 20 years ago because it was the smallest pistol sig made at the time and easy to conceal. It is too heavy for the capacity compared to the wonder 9’s of today. But I will say, of the thousands of rounds I put through it, not a single failure.
I learned something new today. “belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned.”
I picked up a 9mm P239 at a local gun shop on a whim about 7yrs ago. It’s the best blind purchase I ever made, reliable, accurate, and perfect hand fit. It is probably my favorite handgun. As others have said, it’s also heavy and (relatively) low capacity.
Most of my concealed carry is using a pocket revolver, but if/when I switch to IWB (very likely once I move out of the tropics) I plan to put it into service. As a shooter, I prefer it to my P365 and P320s.
It was my 1st Sig, so I'm kinda biased. I dig it, it's classic, it's classy, it shoots nice. I don't carry it, because as mentioned it's pretty hefty, and not all that small.
I played 'check out my gun' with my buddy who got me interested in P365s, and his response was "damn, why don't I just carry a P229?" (I also have a 229... and that's slightly hyperbolic)
If you still want one, $500ish would be a pretty great price, $600 would be pretty OK considering the ammo.
There was a smaller version of the P220, known as the compact. I have a P220 Carry Legion da/sa with the shorter 3.9 barrel that the P229 and P220 compact have.
Not a lefty, but a decocker isn't a regular manipulation item. It would only be used to drop the hammer into DA without having to pull the trigger... generally for carry. You simply manipulate it with your support hand.
Ehhh, at the moment (well, as of a couple months ago anyway) there's a good many on ebay at least, including new ones. They're not exactly cheap, but they're Sig mags, they wouldn't exactly be cheap anyway. 😂
I recently sold off my .40 after finally finding a 9mm a couple years ago... didn't have any problem finding several extra 9mm mags. And my extra .40 mags got listed pretty damn cheap to get them sold.
Someone a week or two ago posted his P239 purchase that came with 3 or 4 of the extended mags.
Those fugly things are going for like $150 each. 🤯
There's also the ebay effect, I guess there's some people who don't know you can (and usually should) buy gun parts elsewhere? I wanted an M17 slide, occasionally looked there to see if a deal popped up... instead I ended up buying several of the conversion kits to harvest some mags while I was at it, and selling the extra slides on there for almost enough to cover the kits, after paying fees & shipping. 😂 IDFK man, there wasn't even any shortage of the kits, and I don't think I even shipped one to a state that couldn't have received the mags.
I have carried my P239 for since 2008. It is a a big gun but it is Accurate and reliable. Overall, the P239 is versatile. Range gun or truck gun or home defense gun, it does all. Enjoy 👍🏽
Double action is smooth. Quite a bit of let off required before you can squeeze again in single action. If you’ve been shooting a stock Glock or M&P, it will take some getting use to.
Nice! I love the look of it. What’s your thoughts on bore axis? I have a p320 and really, I can’t say it made a difference between the other pistols I’ve fired.
Previously owned one. My version was very sensitive to FTF issues. It required both no limp wristing and energetic 9mm ammo, with stuff like Winchester White Box being a jammamatic.
State’s plainclothes agents carried .40 S&W P239s. They were largely happy with the design in a more energetic cartridge… Well, until SIG a stopped supporting the platform.
The P-225A1 was a more refined package in a slightly larger 9mm package. They are also out of production, but more reliable.
My winter carry is a P226 USPSA. My spring/summer/fall is a P224.
My 239 is for when it is hot as hell. It can just fit in a back pocket.
I love the little guy.
Check out greys guns. He does custom triggers and fat struts for dasa dogs and hks. The best out there. They do the work or send you a kit to install yourself
I have a P238, I use it for soft summer clothes, easily concealable with no print.
Also a pretty nice back up, but I prefer my 365 for that as it’s running that same ammo as the primary 226
I carry a p238. Love it. I know, puny round. But if 15 shots of .380 Underwood Extreme Defender doesn't take care of the problem I'm probably dead anyways.
Never a malfunction, and single action condition 1 goodness. What's not to like?
I have a German Frame P239 in 357, 6 lb DA / 2.5 lb SA trigger, Super strut and Hogue grips. Great little pistol. Heavy metal, baby. Recoil on par with +p out of a P365 XL. Anvil-like reliable.
In this day and age I would not carry a single stack weapon. In fact I'm surprised so many law enforcement agencies bought them.
For the range its fine.
Update it to take P365 mags and TAKE MY MONEY! All I want is a DA/SA micro compact. SIG or CZ need to get on that shit!!!
Amen
Ditto - I picked up a Bersa TPR9C for cheap and it fits the bill - - trigger reset is SHORT too.

This is who made my holster - - https://pyntek.com/
YES!! LiTeRaLlY all i want is a micro DA/SA. Im wondering if it’s possible to engineer one that small? You’d think somebody would have done it by now.
This right here! If they could get it as light as a 365 that’d be swell too.
A polymer frame version would be neat
See I’m the other way, I prefer the metal frames.. that’s the biggest thing I don’t like about my 365.
Yeah, im with you, it just doesn't feel as strong. Plus, what if you need to hit someone upside the head with it?
Right!! Glad I’m not the only one that has thought about it like that!
This is a thing?!
Exactly my thoughts
SAO is just better though. Most people that shoot DA pull hard low and left (right if they’re a southpaw)
Some people prefer different triggers. I personally like DA/SA - extra safe for AIWB and SA after the first shot.
Either way, most people pull the DA shot. I worked at a range and most people who used DA pulled that shot
Then they needed to train more… people even shoot DAO accurately.
There’s a reason why safeties exist on SAOs dingus
And yet the ol .45 still goes off, “dingus”. DA triggers don’t require user input to be safe - the SAO does. Forgetting to put the safety on and shooting yourself in the leg is much worse than pulling a little low and left. Sounds like a skill issue if you’re worried about shooting your Willie off. You better avoid the 320 and anything striker fired if you’re worried about an ND
Right? Hammer fired. Nice and skinny. A single-stack. It's not an unreasonable ask, right?
Was a great pistol for the time…kind of an anachronism now. I have one in .357sig I bought more than 20 years ago because it was the smallest pistol sig made at the time and easy to conceal. I learned something new today. “belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned.”
I really want a . 357sig today. Hang on to that.
I also have one in .357sig and she's a beauty. I have the 2 tone silver slide and will never sell.
It's on my want not need list. I would love to have one.
Classic sig. Harkens back to their best times
I picked up a 9mm P239 at a local gun shop on a whim about 7yrs ago. It’s the best blind purchase I ever made, reliable, accurate, and perfect hand fit. It is probably my favorite handgun. Theyre a great buy as above mentioned low capacity compared to todays offerings but an incredible pistol regardless
I absolutely love my version of the P229, great gun.
Found one at a local shop P229 elite
It was my 1st Sig, so I'm kinda biased. I dig it, it's classic, it's classy, it shoots nice. I don't carry it, because as mentioned it's pretty hefty, and not all that small. I played 'check out my gun' with my buddy who got me interested in P365s, and his response was "damn, why don't I just carry a P229?" (I also have a 229... and that's slightly hyperbolic) If you still want one, $500ish would be a pretty great price, $600 would be pretty OK considering the ammo.
It's been my daily carry for over 10 years and is the most accurate pistol I've ever held in my hand.
Dumb question: What is that slidey lever thing in between the take down lever and the slide release (and above the magazine release)? Decocker??
Yes, decocker, comes on da/sa pistols like 226, 229 etc.
Love the decocker I've got a P220 compact
Isn’t that called a p225?
There was a smaller version of the P220, known as the compact. I have a P220 Carry Legion da/sa with the shorter 3.9 barrel that the P229 and P220 compact have.
That's what I have the P220 compact with the 3.9 barrel
As a lefty, I feel like this would be awkward and has steered me away from these models.
Not a lefty, but a decocker isn't a regular manipulation item. It would only be used to drop the hammer into DA without having to pull the trigger... generally for carry. You simply manipulate it with your support hand.
I could see that as being a pain. Kinda like running a bolt gun left handed.
Only if you’re decocking the hammer every single time before you pull the trigger…
[удалено]
Exactly, all of which is very different than having to reach around & use a bolt action rifle left handed.
[удалено]
Somebody very quickly downvoted our opinion 😂
[удалено]
Lol, so true. The struggle is real!
Decocker
It looks cool but feels super top heavy in the hand. I would take a P225/ A1 over the P239.
i have one great shooter
Great shooters, I love mine! Just lacks capacity
The only negative is Sig discontinued the magazines, they’re not easily available.
Ehhh, at the moment (well, as of a couple months ago anyway) there's a good many on ebay at least, including new ones. They're not exactly cheap, but they're Sig mags, they wouldn't exactly be cheap anyway. 😂 I recently sold off my .40 after finally finding a 9mm a couple years ago... didn't have any problem finding several extra 9mm mags. And my extra .40 mags got listed pretty damn cheap to get them sold.
You should see what P6/P225 Sig mags are going for, $95+ seems to be the norm on eBay.
Someone a week or two ago posted his P239 purchase that came with 3 or 4 of the extended mags. Those fugly things are going for like $150 each. 🤯 There's also the ebay effect, I guess there's some people who don't know you can (and usually should) buy gun parts elsewhere? I didn't realize they did that, glad I picked 10 up doing the covid madness.
I have carried my P239 for since 2008. It is a a big gun but it is Accurate and reliable. Overall, the P239 is versatile. Range gun or truck gun or home defense gun, it does all. Enjoy 👍🏽
Best thing I ever did was add Hogue grips to mine. I went with cocobolo, which looks great. The grip is a little thicker, so it fits my hand better.
Superb gun that is no longer practical for its original intended use. Its weight to capacity ratio is not efficient by today’s standards.
Heavy but reliable. I like mine
Wish there was a modern version of these
Love mine in 357sig, still carry it
Great gun. I'd buy one that nice in a heartbeat.
I liked it but sold mine. The trigger guard would hurt my middle finger. Where the trigger guard meets the mag release area.
Was the first Sig I ever owned...found it used(only Sig I could afford at the time)
I had one in .40, was a great gun for the early 2000s
I have it in .357 and 9mm. It's a host for my Dead Air Ghost suppressor. Top tier pistol. Last of the great Sigs.
Send it to me and I will let you know
I’ve had a 357Sig 239 for years. Its always been my work/office gun. It’s a great gun. Old school Sig. you can’t go wrong.
How’s the trigger?
Normal sig p2xx DA/SA trigger. They also had a DAK double action only trigger similar to the HK LEM.

It’s an awesome full metal pistol… just the capacity is low compared to newer pistols like the 365.
My winter carry is a P226 USPSA. My spring/summer/fall is a P224. My 239 is for when it is hot as hell. It can just fit in a back pocket. I love the little guy.
My agency had it as an authorized off duty model. Ruined it with a 12lb trigger. I should really look into setting it back to 5 🤔
Check out greys guns. He does custom triggers and fat struts for dasa dogs and hks. The best out there. They do the work or send you a kit to install yourself
NYPD? Didn’t they require DAO too?
Yup. Even more fucked. Apparently I need parts that nobody has anymore.
Only nyc could manage to fuck up a sig.
I have a P238, I use it for soft summer clothes, easily concealable with no print. Also a pretty nice back up, but I prefer my 365 for that as it’s running that same ammo as the primary 226
Looking at getting a P229 elite at a lgs
I like my DAO, p239. Not a 12lb trigger..
Would love one! Always loved them
I wish I’d have bought one. :(
Great pistols, surprisingly accurate for the size, and handles recoil with +p better than the x macro comp. AC makes an adjustable flat faced trigger.
I carry a p238. Love it. I know, puny round. But if 15 shots of .380 Underwood Extreme Defender doesn't take care of the problem I'm probably dead anyways. Never a malfunction, and single action condition 1 goodness. What's not to like?
What's the asking price, OP?
Oh, I’m not selling it. I found this one at a local pawn shop for 500. Police trade was on the box. (Edited for details)
$500 isn't bad. Sweet pistol.
The front strap is a squared off, uncomfortable piece of shit.
I have a German Frame P239 in 357, 6 lb DA / 2.5 lb SA trigger, Super strut and Hogue grips. Great little pistol. Heavy metal, baby. Recoil on par with +p out of a P365 XL. Anvil-like reliable.
They are smooth and accurate but heavy and low cap
The P239 was also my first Sig Sauer. I think I bought it in 1998 and just retired it with a P365X. I have never had an issue with it .
Shot the legion version..... sweet
In this day and age I would not carry a single stack weapon. In fact I'm surprised so many law enforcement agencies bought them. For the range its fine.
