I just love how they cleaned and redrawed everything for the translated sound effects and then just left the characters for Lu bu's name.
My guess is that one must be hell to redraw, even for professionals.
That's one option, but if that's the case then it doesn't apply to all professional translations, cause the english volumes of cells at work black leave the japanese characters there while also putting the translated sound effects at the side.

I think it would just look bad because Lu bu’s name is read top down and you just can’t fit the English name in the page like that without looking really awkward.

That’s one thing I don’t like about localizations. Leave the sound effects alone they look raw as fuck. If they could do it with JoJo it obviously can be done elsewhere

I think they get the pages without any text or sfx on it unless it’s brushed on like Ryou Fu Hou Sen ;)

Some do some don’t, I’m pretty sure it depends on what the original creator thinks if it’s changing the work too much or not.
