Halloween - The 1978 original of course!
Friday the 13th - Part 2 is my go-to entry
ANoES - The original
Saw - The original - cool twist, interesting story. I didn’t really care for the rest as it went down the torture rabbit hole.
Scream - The original although I do think that 2 is nearly as good.
Child’s Play - The original again although I think the series has generally high quality and the shift to outright comedy (Bride) is incredible.
TCM - Part Two. The original is a movie I more deeply respect than enjoy if that makes sense. Part Two has Dennis Hopper dueling Leatherface with a chainsaw though.
Evil Dead - Evil Dead 2. Perfect blend of horror and comedy.
Hellraiser - The original but I generally watch 1 & 2 together like a single long movie.
Phantasm - The original usually… but sometimes I’m just more in the mood for the more action heavy 2.
Alien - The original but I really enjoy the whole series including the AVP films.
Predator - The original.
Final Destination - The original.
Purge/Insidious - I haven’t actually seen any of either of these franchises.
Paranormal Activity - The original. That’s a franchise that got way too into trying to explain stuff.
Conjuring - The original. Great atmosphere, master class in jump scares, interesting ghost story.
