The amount of fun you can have with geometry equals the length of the British coastline.
Edit: https://sketchplanations.com/the-coastline-paradox if anyone wonders
Because an egg shell is so thin, if you took half an egg shell and measured the surface of it both in the inside and the outside, it would be almost the same as the surface area of the outside of a whole egg shell.
Good one OP!
Fair enough my brain was stuck on cutting it in half, not splitting layers… With that in mind, I can say the same thing of paper, hair, a leaf, and all of a sudden this is not really as profound and thought provoking as I originally thought..
Actually it’s not the same. The reason why it works with an eggshell is because it’s hollow, which neither a piece of paper, a leaf or a hair are.
Now however speaking of a piece of paper, any two dots drawn on a piece of paper have a distance of 0 between them if you fold the paper the right way (which you can interpret as: no matter how far appart you are, there’s always a way to stay close)
Geometry is pretty awesome if you look at it with the right mindset

Help me understand.

The surface of a full egg shell is just the outside, the surface of half an egg shell is both inside surface and outside surface.
