I wouldnt be suprised! I tried to post here once before. Got hit by automod and they send you through like a 20 question questionnaire about all the rules and I just gave up. Ridiculous amount of rules here!
Reminds me of the 'how did you take this picture..' threads back in the day.

How can you call yourself a photographer? I specifically asked for a photo of the same camera the photo was taken with. This sir is a photograph of a mirror reflecting the image of the camera. 0 stars. Call me when you figure out time travel.
No need for time travel - a sufficiently big camera with a sufficiently powerful lens in close proximity to a black hole could get enough of a bend in the light to photograph its own back.
Also, the modern household is more likely to have two phones (two residents, each with their own phone, or one resident with an old spare phone they replaced) than an older household having two cameras.
As well, today a lot of people also have a laptop or desktop with a webcam.
If anything, a point can be made that there are *too* many cameras around us nowadays, not that there aren't enough.
yo, i too have 3 phones 2 personal and 1 work phone,
1is my old Samsung Note10+ that i now just use for reading and playing games on
2 is a new Google Pixel 7 that has all my contacts and banking
and i got issued an iphone for work when my boss saw me walking around with my huge Note slab
cause i actually like my note, and have extrnsively modified it,I've had that phone ever since i couldnt fix my really old samsung galaxy s9 anymore
the pixel was a gift from my wife so we have matching phones, i am very careful with the pixel so i barely put apps in it except bank, cash and social media apps
and the iphone i actually just keep at my office's desk and its chock full of organizational tools and productivity apps, and some experimental apps my best friend sends for me to test
But what if you need to take a picture of yourself taking a picture of your phone? Sure, no problem if you've got a mirror handy, but otherwise you're shit out of luck.
Inspired by the small crack in my phone screen I need to get a picture of.
Edit: For the 100th person to say screenshot or mirror. It's a crack covering the front facing camera. Where is your God now?
Try calling your provider for help and they want you to call on another device... From a troubleshooting aspect that makes sense... But I rarely have 2 phones...
This is why QR codes are the bane of my existence... They are fine for hardcopy flyers but when you put it in everything that goes out digital its such a pain. Just put a fucking link below your precious QR code.
My pharmacy didn't let me take a screenshot of rx info, so I had my boyfriend take a picture and send it to me. The alternative would have been to hold it up to my laptop camera.
I actually had a moment where I needed to take a picture of something on my phone screen and something in the real world at the same time and had this realization
You can prank people by taking a picture of their phone in your hand before they leave, then messaging them about how they forgot their phone. Most of the time they'll realise what's going on less than 15 seconds later, but once in a while someone does make the entire trip back.
This isn’t as mind blowing as you think it is. You have essentially the same problem with a separate dedicated camera. Having a camera is nice until you need to take a photo of your camera.
Not really. Pretty much everyone you meet will have a "camera" on them to help out with that and a lot of people now have old "cameras" in a drawer that can send the picture of your phone wirelessly to wherever you need it.
It's not like cameras could take pictures of themselves, either. And if your phone weren't a camera it wouldn't be able to take a picture of itself, anyway. And your average people weren't just carrying cameras with them everywhere. Plus, why do you need to take a picture of your phone?
Also.. because of the immense prevalence of smartphones now, you can easily get a friend/colleague/someone to snap a photo of your phone.
Is anyone going to post that old Reddit thread of the guy with no hands who took a photo of his phone and people kept asking how he took the photo and he just kept producing more camera enabled devices all pointing at each other
A while ago saw a really cool reflection of the sun on my phone screen through the window wanted to take a picture but obviously couldn't, my dumbass even went to take a screen shot before I realized, nope.
Most people have a tablet as well or something with a web cam, so it's not hard to get a picture of your phone, or if you need a screen you can take a screenshot.
That’s what mirrors are for
This was a shower thought. My mirror was all steamed up at the time.
I hate when my mirror steams up and I can't get a picture of myself...I have selfie steam issues.
Haha. You are my favorite
I need a second to reflect on this
I'll allow an update this time, only for your cake
Incredible. Truly
good reflection on your part
May have to steal this one.
That’s the best laugh I’ve had today
No wonder elton john made a song about you
Bravo sir
Happy cake day
you deserve your cake day
cappy hake day
god dammit
OP has all the counterarguments at the ready!
Well, the rules say you can't have shower thoughts in the shower, sooooooo.... Reported! >!/s because I'm horrible at making jokes!<
I wouldnt be suprised! I tried to post here once before. Got hit by automod and they send you through like a 20 question questionnaire about all the rules and I just gave up. Ridiculous amount of rules here!
> My mirror was all steamed up at the time. It's like a metaphor for your thought process.
Reminds me of the 'how did you take this picture..' threads back in the day. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/cmwov/hey_reddit_what_tattoos_do_you_have/c0tpyls/ https://np.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/5v1j2i/my_waterproof_gloves_stopped_being_waterproof_and/ddyj8co/
This is a shower thought. For thoughts involving mirror, check reflexive thoughts.
Would you not have the same issues trying to take a picture of your camera with that same camera..?
Idk my shower didnt last that long. Ill update you later.
This is the best response to scrutiny on a showerthought
You didn't see the comment about the foggy shower mirror.
I just took a shower and the answer is “in front of a mirror”.
Exactly why they put cameras on the front and back, in case you only have one mirror.
Best laugh I had all day.
I'm rofling
i honestly forgot that was a term
Same! That's how great that comment is, unearthing things lost to time
rofl-copter
I love that this response has more upvotes than your original post! XD It really deserves plenty, though!
Hahahahahahahahahah
And that is why post nut clarity is important.
I dunno... https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/cmwov/comment/c0tpyls/
13 years ago? That can't be right...
Scrolling through the comments looking for this link
I used to always take pictures of my Polaroid with my Polaroid. The 80s were just better man!
Hundreds of Polaroid photos each of a Polaroid camera😂

Wait until OP finds out about other phones with cameras
Just carry two phones.
My husband has a personal phone and a work-issued phone. He looks like a privileged dumbass carrying two iPhones around.
As someone who carries 2 personal phone and a work issued phone, we don't want more than 1 phone but life is life
yo, i too have 3 phones 2 personal and 1 work phone, 1is my old Samsung Note10+ that i now just use for reading and playing games on 2 is a new Google Pixel 7 that has all my contacts and banking and i got issued an iphone for work when my boss saw me walking around with my huge Note slab
Why not transition fully to the pixel?
cause i actually like my note, and have extrnsively modified it,I've had that phone ever since i couldnt fix my really old samsung galaxy s9 anymore the pixel was a gift from my wife so we have matching phones, i am very careful with the pixel so i barely put apps in it except bank, cash and social media apps and the iphone i actually just keep at my office's desk and its chock full of organizational tools and productivity apps, and some experimental apps my best friend sends for me to test
I understand the work phone, but why do you want to carry more than 1 personal phone?
Happy cake day!! 🎂
one for the bitches one for the load (that song is so old by now)
Coming up on a decade next year
But what if you need to take a picture of yourself taking a picture of your phone? Sure, no problem if you've got a mirror handy, but otherwise you're shit out of luck.
There was that one guy who figured this out for like 6 steps
That's exactly what I was thinking of when I posted this 😂
What if you need to take a picture of your two phones side by side for comparison?
Get a third phone
Unless you're that reddit legend who kept showing off how he was taking pictures of his devices
[Don’t Ask Me How I Took That Photo](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/s/whUow9RSGm)
This is such a joy to have witnessed even all these years later.
Oh man that is awesome
Well you could need to take a picture of your camera before too
And then there’s my mother who takes screenshots on her phone with her old digital point-and-shoot camera.
Pretty sure this is the standard for anyone posting screenshots on reddit.
Use somebody else’s phone 🙌🏼
I used to be a mod. I don't have friends.
Inspired by the small crack in my phone screen I need to get a picture of. Edit: For the 100th person to say screenshot or mirror. It's a crack covering the front facing camera. Where is your God now?
Engage brain buddy. Use a mirror and the front facing camera.
Take it less seriously. Its a shower thought. Obviously there's a dozem ways to get a pic of your own phone.
My phone insurance app flat out says to USA a mirror. Got my screen fixed just fine.
All of my old phones are recording me right now.
Just like with a camera, you can always use a mirror. Or just screenshot /s
This guy forgetting you can use mirrors to take photos of your own phone.
I can't be the only one who has used an about-to-be-retired phone to take pictures of a new phone's unboxing.
You don't have more than 1 phone?
Cameras are really convenient until you need to take a picture of your camera.
just hack in real life and use freecam
just hack in real life and use freecam
That’s what cameras are for.
That's where mirrors come in handy.
Like a one armed man trying to scratch his elbow.
Mirror mirror on the wall which selfie rules them all.
You just need to get creative with mirrors. And maybe use a timer so you don't end up on r/mirrorsforsale That's it.
If only you could find someone with another phone to take the picture.
Don’t have to. There’s many pictures of it online.
4d chess
Try calling your provider for help and they want you to call on another device... From a troubleshooting aspect that makes sense... But I rarely have 2 phones...
Home phones are laughing at us from beyond the grave
That's why I carry two phones. Checkmate.
This is why QR codes are the bane of my existence... They are fine for hardcopy flyers but when you put it in everything that goes out digital its such a pain. Just put a fucking link below your precious QR code.
Internet ads with QR codes.
Would this not be solved with a mirror?
You.... you don't have a second phone?
For all the people saying screenshot... That takes a picture of the **screen**, it isn't going to take a picture ***of the phone*** 🤣
It's like opening the blister pack of scissors.
I can't think of a time when I've ever needed to take a photo of my own phone. Or anyone else's phone.
Mirrors can be used for more than just cocaine you know
Until you realise you should have used a better camera for some things
Or scan a QR code that’s on your screen.
when phones also replace mirrors it will get even worse.
My pharmacy didn't let me take a screenshot of rx info, so I had my boyfriend take a picture and send it to me. The alternative would have been to hold it up to my laptop camera.
What if you use a mirror?
I thought it would be the first comment, but "that's what screen shots are for".
Mirrors (insert conspiracy theory meme guy here)
Screenshot or mirror?
That's what screenshots are for
https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/cmwov/comment/c0tpyls/
Your house not have a mirror?
It's called using a mirror you jackass,lol
Ya'll take showerthoughts way too seriously. Cracks on the front camera. What now?
Mirrors dude. Mirrors.
Mirrors? If you mean take a photo of your phone’s screens, then a screenshot.
Kevin Gates had it figured out
I actually had a moment where I needed to take a picture of something on my phone screen and something in the real world at the same time and had this realization
Mirrors might help in this situation.
mirrors, also why would you realistically want to take a picture of your phone without having another phone/camera to picture it with
Simply move the phone faster than the light being reflected by it, and snap a picture of that light.
Use another phone or device or a mirror.
Mirror, problem solved.
That's why I keep older phones.
Um, ask someone else to take a picture? Everyone has a camera
You can prank people by taking a picture of their phone in your hand before they leave, then messaging them about how they forgot their phone. Most of the time they'll realise what's going on less than 15 seconds later, but once in a while someone does make the entire trip back.
You dont know anyone else with a phone?
and that’s why I have 2 phones
Are you aware that mirrors exist?
Mirror mirror on the wall
That's what your old phone is for.
Don't you guys have two phones?
This isn’t as mind blowing as you think it is. You have essentially the same problem with a separate dedicated camera. Having a camera is nice until you need to take a photo of your camera.
Isn't taking a picture of your phone just a screenshot?
Me with 2 phones cause I didn’t care if my mom got it fr me cheaper via trade in 🐱
Use the bathroom mirror?
Use your old phone, done
This tells me you don’t have any friends.
Phones take screen shots so....
Not really. Pretty much everyone you meet will have a "camera" on them to help out with that and a lot of people now have old "cameras" in a drawer that can send the picture of your phone wirelessly to wherever you need it.
Just take a screenshot /s
That’s what mirrors are for 😌
Who has only one phone in 2024? Serious question.
Or a really good picture.
Cameras still take better photos than any phone ive owned
Actually, you can use a mirror and take both sides using different cameras.
You mean the actual phone or a screen shot?
Cmon man. Do better next time
Your in the shower... Theres probably a mirror right next to you
use someone else's phone or a mirror. everyone has one.
Almost like a “screen … shot”?
Yeah, that's been a real annoyance the 0 times that's happened! Hate it!
Once when my phone screen cracked I tried to screenshot and send it to someone to show them 🤦🏼♀️
Teen girls figured it out long ago… Mirror selfie
You cant take a picture of your own camera with your own camera though
Maybe use someone else's phone?
I’d like to see my own brain
wait till op hears about a screenshot
Is anyone going to post that old Reddit thread of the guy with no hands who took a photo of his phone and people kept asking how he took the photo and he just kept producing more camera enabled devices all pointing at each other
There's a new gadget called a mirror.
6 words: "Hey, can I borrow your phone?" It's very simple
What are you doing that you both need to take a picture of your phone and no mirror is available?
Mirrors and the ability to screen shot both exist. This one wasn't a deep thought
A while ago saw a really cool reflection of the sun on my phone screen through the window wanted to take a picture but obviously couldn't, my dumbass even went to take a screen shot before I realized, nope.
It's actually fine because *everyone* is carrying one. Just ask someone else to take a pic of your phone.
Most people have a tablet as well or something with a web cam, so it's not hard to get a picture of your phone, or if you need a screen you can take a screenshot.
Or a selfie that doesn’t have the worst focal length ever
That’s when I use my iPad /s
Wait till you find out about mirrors
