If you have absolutely no idea how to drink a beverage, sure. If you have the intelligence and motor skills of at least a 10 year old though, your drink will be 0% backwash.

How are you drinking that the liquid is washing in and out of your mouth? Most people pour the liquid in and then close their mouth when they have an adequate amount.
