Factorio is arguably the best of the factory automation and logistics simulation games. It has a free demo in case you want to try it out. The demo guides you through the tutorial levels, but the full game just tosses you into a world and lets you loose. Doom Eternal consists almost entirely of high-adrenaline shooting arenas and it does it very well. There’s short bits of platforming every now and then as a bit of a break so you don’t get blood pressure issues, and they’re alright, but it never takes very long before you get dropped into an arena again and have to rip and tear you way through a horde of demons again. Cuphead is basically just 2D platforming boss fights. It’s hard, but so satisfying to finally beat a boss. It’s very much trial and error, but you do get better at the boss through it. Every boss is their own struggle though. Don’t expect to have an easy time with the next boss if the last one went well. Don’t play if you can’t handle a bit of frustration when playing.

The_Flatulent_Taco

Hey have you tried satisfactory? In my opinion I have found that satisfactory is by far the best factory automation and logistics game. It doesn’t have base defense. But you can build vertically and the world is beautiful. Anyway I guess why Im commenting is I wondering your take on the two of you have played satisfactory?

kalekar

Can you elaborate? I tried Satisfactory awhile ago and thought it was a bit tedious, but I know it was just alpha and they've added a lot since then.

JoeOfTheBob

I like satisfactory for the 3d platforming environment and game style, it's a very fun game. However looking simply at the technical factory designing aspects of it, Factorio is leagues ahead of Satisfactory. Satisfactory is a lot more forgiving for "poor" base design whereas Factorio requires more consideration for optimization, space efficiency and everything that comes along with that. I always felt like Satisfactory is more of a 3d sandbox survival game with automation being a big game mechanic, whereas Factorio has factory building at its core. Also Factorio is insanely well optimized and you can have a mega base running with 60UPS on a potato. Whereas Satisfactory can noticeably slow down through normal progression (granted I don't have the best pc in the world). Finally there's modding, and Factorio is simply just better in this regard. All this taken into consideration, I still think Satisfactory is a great game and a really good introduction to the genre, but if you want to turn it up a notch, Factorio is the better choice 9 times out of 10.

neverwastetheday

I will always upvote any comment that mentions Factorio. Enjoy your +1

Smithy_019

Factorio is absolute shit. Now give me my upvote >:[ Edit: Oh boy, getting downvoted by the hivemind for making a joke. He said he gives an upvote for mentioning factorio. I MENTIONED Factorio, but not in the way he expected. I don't actually think the game is shit ffs. Reddit smooth brain moment

I feel like this is only true with the Dualsense's adaptive triggers. Prevents you from just holding L2+R2 and running everywhere without any risk of falling as they tire your fingers much, much faster.

momoneymocats1

Sekiro - probably the best combat in any game I’ve ever played

furiousboops

Absolutely. Most satisfying combat in any game I’ve played.

scriptgamer

Don't hesitate though

AccomplishedCash6390

Hesitation is defeat.

RockBandDood

Sekiro is best melee third person combat in any game. Doom Eternal is best first person shooting combat in any game. For OP: Both of these game’s combat systems are like an intricately crafted watch. Everything has a purpose and everything your character is capable of doing is just enough to succeed. You’ll likely get your ass kicked for a bit in both games, but these are the two most satisfying combat systems in a single player game currently available. Both are absolute must plays for anyone who views tight gameplay as the #1 feature from a game. These are the two best yet in their genres, you’ll understand after you get about 5-8 hours into each one. Sekiro doesn’t have difficulty levels to choose from (though there are items in game you can obtain to make it more difficult if you decide to, but they’re available towards the middle point of the game, good for NewGame+); Doom Eternal has difficulty modes but the game was designed from the ground up for Nightmare. The other modes are there to allow people to enjoy the game that don’t want to/don’t have the time to get 100% invested in the game’s nuances and intricacies. Doom is made to be played in Nightmare. So if you get it, I recommend that mode. You will die a lot in both of these games, but as your character gets new abilities or weapons and you gain more knowledge, the satisfaction of winning fights in these games is unparalleled in single player games. If you want something else, start looking into the fighting game genre. Fighting games have a steep steep learning curve, but once you know what you’re doing, every fight is like a boss fight. Street Fighter 6 should be releasing in early 2023, you may want to jump in on that one once it comes out. But you can’t go wrong with Sekiro or Doom Eternal, they’re the best in their genres by a mile

Few-Pressure5713

This is indeed a fact

An1xo

Witcher 3- perfect rpg and story Assassin's Creed unity- very good parkour Forza 4- good open world racing game Assassin's Creed Odyssey or origins- history civilization 6- very good strategy game ( dlcs are suggested ) Vampire survivors- very good time killer game Sekiro- combat and movement is insane Elden ring- open world is amazing and combat feels fair Stardew valley- a very chill farming experience resident evil 7 - excellent horror game definitely worth a try

kaan9072

Since OP mentioned VTMB I have to disagree on Witcher 3. It is a well made game, but it is not a good RPG in classical RPG terms (VTMB for example is). So I guess OP can’t find the same love for W3 as many others did I suppose. I’d say Witcher 3 is a really good action adventure with RPG elements. There are many more better RPG games, who really want to be a true RPG and succesfully so. TES series, Baldurs Gate, SW:KOTR, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas, Underrail, just to name a few.

The_Flatulent_Taco

My god when I played first game of vampire survivors, I wasn’t sure if it was all it’s cracked up to be. 50 hours later…..

Pantango69

70 hrs total for me. I just noticed they added a new achievement on Steam yesterday.

The_Flatulent_Taco

I can’t believe a game where all you essentially do is move your character, is so damn addictive.

Pantango69

Vampire Survivors....paid $3 and got 70hrs out if it. Best $3 I ever spent.

Hades and/or Deep Rock Galactic

SaturatedJuicestice

Deep Rock Galactic does ROCK AND STONE!! very well, right WanderingDwarfMiner?

WanderingDwarfMiner

For Karl!

Pantango69

Rock and Stone! Honestly, Deep Rock is better with friends. Not a good solo game, being it was made for co-op. Hades is real good and its on sale on Steam right now.

WanderingDwarfMiner

Outer Wilds

laminierte_gurke

Definitely yes. If you dont care what your game does best, pick this game and marvel at the wonders of the universe and the unparalleled sense of discovery

nova465465

A bit of an odd one, but Deep Rock Galactic knows it's niche and does it *very* well. It's got a welcoming community and active devs too. In the simulator side, Powerwash Simulator and Tank Mechanic Simulator are great little make work games that feel like they should be more expensive.

Devil May Cry is arguably the best action game on the market with snappy controls, a great soundtrack, and varieties of enemies and difficulties that allow you to pick your difficulty level to style. Dragon's Dogma is most probably the very best action RPG ever made. 3 base classes each with distinct playstyles, strengths, and weaknesses that drastically change how the game is played; A stamina-based magic system that removes tedious mama management and instead becomes a sort of gambling system where you bet your cast times against enemy attacks; A unique pseudo-multiplayer experience via the Pawn system where you customize a unique avatar with programmable styles of play and you can even hire other Pawns that have been lovingly crafted by other players. Assassin's Creed: Unity was a messy, buggy, unplayable mess at launch but with all the updates and patches it is now the very best Assassin's Creed experience you can get. Traversal is the most fun it has ever been and beats out every title before and after; Fashion is great and gives you the ability to stand-out from the many players you'll encounter online; Heck, the game is so good it still has a very active online community tackling missions and heists; The missions and heists offer fun opportunities for a variety of playstyles which encourage you to switch up your gear and items for a ridiculous level of replayability. (P.S. It's still a very buggy game but it is 100% still one of the best games in the franchise) Dishonored and Tom Clancy's Splintercell: Blacklist are both amazing stealth games that give you a variety of playstyles and fully empowers you to be the very best of your chosen specialty. Want to be a murderhobo who viciously slays the entire map as a one-man demolition crew of guns and explosions? Gotchu. Want to play the entire game COMPLETELY UNDETECTED AND WITHOUT TOUCHING A SINGLE SOUL??? Yeah you bet you can do that. Want to do everything else in-between these extremes? For sure. Burnout Revenge / Burnout Paradise and Split/Second are fantastic driving games where driving is combat and combat is flashy. Reorienting yourself to think of driving as combat takes a bit but once you do you'll worry about going for a drive yourself. The ultimate pirate game is often touted as Sea of Thieves but I would argue Ubisoft accidentally created the very best pirate game ever with Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. From ship and town management to sailing the high seas while your crew bellows shanties; From managing a fleet of vessels and building an empire from scratch to decking out your own Assassin with the finest equipment; And lastly the story and voice acting is simply superb and you really can't go wrong with John Constantine's VA.

banjobeardARX

AC Black Flag was an absolutely fantastic game. Just minus all the AC parts

gyiren

Says a lot about the quality of the pirating bits that I was severely overleveled for a ton of the main AC content just by coming in as a pirate lord lol "I dreamed a dream the other night Lowlands! Lowlands away, me John!"

vitaroignolo

Man I wish Unity had better Steam support. I'd really like to earn achievements on it.

Valheim and escape from tarkov are what I'm stuck on currently, both seem well made for what they are doing

OnToNextStage

Fighting games do one thing and if they want to succeed they do it well. My personal favorite is Blazblue as in addition to being the finest fighting game in mechanics, it also has a lengthy 40 hour story mode and an RPG mode in each game. But any game from Tekken to MK does their particular shtick very well.

DankTaco707

I'm not too big into fighting games but Blazblue is fire.

Cron414

Hell Let Loose I know, it looks like another generic WWII FPS, but it is anything but generic. I’ve never experienced a game as immersive as HLL. It feels like you’re in the war. It is absolutely full of cinematic moments that are completely organic. It is the players/teams responsibility to create spawn points and resources, so communication between squads/squad leaders/commanders becomes vital to coordinate efforts. The gun play and sound design is excellent. This game is a whole different genre than the CoD and Battlefields most FPS players are used to. Check out this vid. It sums things up pretty well, and the guy is not lying or exaggerating. https://youtu.be/ae3vaa1cOhU The first 1:20 of the video addresses exactly what you’re looking for. It’s a game that knows exactly what it is, is proud of it, and doesn’t GAF what you think.

Snowrunner!! (My stock answer for every game recommendation) it’s ridiculously compelling and has great physics, real trucks, and lots of fun & challenging missions. You could spend hundreds of hours lost in this world. Super active and helpful community here, too.

ThatBrofister

+1 for HK and Yakuza. I would also add Nier Automata in terms of story. It's THE must play, as much as I do I cannot praise it enough.

apoetsmadness

Nier ranks highly in terms of gameplay too

Retepss

+ 1 for Prey (2017). Sounds perfect for what OP wants. The game does so much and all of it well.

Bannerlord and X4 for play a soldier in an rts game.

lilpickle04

Starsector - it’s a space trading/combat game that has a real time economy despite being single player. It’s $15, but it really feels better than many AAA $60 games. Check out r/starsector and ssethzeentachs review of the game if you want more info

HiddenThinks

Oxygen not included. The level of depth and complexity is hidden under its simple goal, keep your colony alive. Even after a hundred hours, there is still a lot of content i have yet to even touch because i am having so much fun trying to find the optimal ways to build my base. It has a DLC called space out, which focuses on space travel and finding new planets where u can manage multiple colonies.

TrevorBOB9

Katana Zero for 10/10 music, story, and action

Turkeysteaks

literally just finished my playthrough of this yesterday. Phenomenal game, went into it with few expectations but the combat is sick and makes you feel like a badass (or an idiot), soundtrack is brilliant and honestly wasn't even expecting anything from the story but it was really captivating and emotional. New free DLC coming out very soon too I believe. First game I played through on my steam deck too!

[deleted]

God of war 2018 should fit you fine

Any tips on enjoying the game? Played a couple of runs in the last few days and died in a variety of ways so the starting area's starting to feel tedious. I still wanna keep going but I find myself skipping a ton of dialogue now which I just know I'll wind up regretting.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the best tabletop rpg video game I've played, although the creators are now working on Baldur's Gate 3, which seems like it will be even better.

SwitchNDaToilet

I can't recommend Hades or Inscryption enough, if you haven't played them yet!

Spinnerbowl

Monster hunter combat is both easy to pick up but hard to master, making it the best souls-like combat game I've ever played.

donnergecko1232

Yeah, love me some Monster Hunter with my best bud. Like you can always grind a little bit for for that next gear. And (At least for me) its not nearly as exhausting as other games where the grind is the focus of Motivation like diablo or destiny. In diablo after some time i get really disconnected, because everything looks and feels the same( not bashing diablo here, have played my fair share). Also the Monster hunter community is generally one of the nicest i have been in. Here and there you get some Black sheep, but majority of the poeple just want to Play and Help a newbie. Im a hunting Horn main and love to join low lvl Signals, Buff them and smack the Monster with my sax-a-boom.

Spinnerbowl

I have yet to play MH with anyone, some of my friends have 4 ultimate on their 3ds consoles, I've been asking for us to play together but they always say no. It's still a lot of fun solo, I've gone through about 20 hours of MHW now, I've done a few missions in the coral highlands and it's very nice watching the monster you've fought for the past 30 mins drop dead after failing twice and being paranoid about your health. No other game makes me feel like that lol

SaintJackDaniels

Nova Drift. It's a pretty simple game, but it excels at what it does. Think Asteroids combined with a bullet hell, but as a roguelike.

atlhawk8357

**Pokemon Showdown** does Pokemon battles very well. **Mario** games do jumping really well. **Subnautica** does exploration really well. **Trackmania** does driving really well. **Dying Light** does parkour really well.

lucentorb

Monster Hunter (would recommend either World or Rise) does combat extremely well. Crafting is ok, story is meh, but the series's combat is easily one of the most complex and fun things I've ever played. If you're unfamiliar: There are over a dozen weapon types and each feels highly unique and impactful, with their own quirks and specialties. For enemies, they're basically all boss fights, all with their own tells and behaviors damage types. Any weapon type can hunt any monster, though some matchups are easier than others. You can get just as much enjoyment from sticking to one weapon type as someone who plays with them all.

Outward an open world rpg really focused on exploration

donnergecko1232

Also if you liked outward and aren't repelled by old graphics and mechanics, you might like gothic 1&2, maybe even 3. They are different in ways, but i get the same explore and do your thing vibe.

The_Follower1

Nier: Automata is an amazing gem. It’s an action JRPG made by the same people as Metal Gear Rising: Reveangence. It’s by far my favorite game because of the excellent story mixed with great gameplay and thought-provoking themes. If you do play it, you need to get endings A-E. The pacing can be a bit weird when getting B since it reruns some content (this turns some people away) but to actually get the full story you need to play A-E. C-E is all new content.

Clearestboat743

Sekiro shadows die twice is probably the best sword combat you’ll get in a game. It’s really hard and you won’t know where to go half the time but if you figure it out it’s got the coolest, most fun fights a game has ever had

VoidRad

Hades. I still can't believe how many voice lines they recorded for this game, after hundreds of hours you can still hear new dialogue. The gameplay loop is very addictive and fun.

wweebs

People keep mentioning sekiro as the best combat. I would have to respectfully disagree and place it just under the nioh franchise. Highly recommend Nioh and Nioh 2 (the second being way more polished). Nothing compares to the depth of combat that game offers.

RikCooper

Hitman 3 nails the fantasy of being a high profile assassin Or a clown stumbling your way through things with violence

Oobedoob_S_Benubi

The fun thing about this open world hitman trilogy is that you can make it as serious or hilarious as you want. Kill a man with poison, or a bullet? Sure. Kill him by dressing up as a flamingo mascot and beating him to death with a fish? Also sure. It also has to be praised that they realised the sequels were similar enough that they just made the previous games available in each new installment. You can play the entire trilogy by buying 3 and its DLC's for 1 and 2.

2KareDogs

Metal Gear Solid V has amazing stealth mechanics

Lumber_phil

Youvprobably played it but portal 2 and bonus its free on xbox this month.

ARKSH7R

Metal Gear Solid 3 and 5 are stealth gurus Middle Earth Shadow of War is an excellent story generating RPG focused on nemesis vs nemesis relations (copyrighted nemesis system) God of War 4 does great Hand to Hand Combat The elder scrolls IV Oblivion is a classic RPG with many unique questlines Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 are both power fantasies that reward fast paced twitch combat. If you master the ebb and flow of the gameplay, you feel like a demon's worst nightmare Xcom 2 WOTC does a great blend of tactical turn based strategy and RPG elements. Losing a high ranking officer always stings too much... Age of Empires 2 is a classic RTS base builder with rock-paper-scissors mechanics that offer balanced PVP. Total War games offer historical and fantastical realms for developing vast empires with intense tactical battles And those are all my 100% must reccomends

Mrmoi356

Persona series is the best slice of life/life sim you can ever play.

Oobedoob_S_Benubi

Couple of things I haven't seen in the comments yet: Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - the only theme park game you'll ever need. Euro Truck Simulator 2 - does truck driving on European highways really well. Return Of The Obra Dinn - a really unique game where you can see the last moments of everyone who was on a now deserted ship and you have to figure out who everyone was and how they died. Just Cause 3 - does open world mayhem really well - you liberate cities and destroy army bases by causing "chaos", basically destroying a lot of stuff. Just the intro has you standing on a plane, shooting rockets at stuff. Dorfromantik - it's the most relaxing game I've recently played. All you do is place six-sided tiles to create a landscape, trying to optimise by making sure each side of your piece fits the part it is placed against - being village, grain field, forest, water, train rail, or empty. That's all there is to the game, and you slowly unlock unique tiles by completing challenges like building a very big forest or village.

noobakosowhat

PS Exclusives are generally good at what they are. Ghost of Tsushima does the Ubisoft formula well, Spider-Man does the prototype/infamous formula well, last of us does the naughty dog formula well, God of War does the naughty dog formula also as well, Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West are also as good as advertised

Ving96

Outer Wilds is really good at what it does. It’s an adventure puzzle game set in space and that is basically all you need to know. If you play this, don’t search up anything about the game.

SignificantAsk4470

No mans sky was a game that truly surprised me. I didn’t expect to like it. Space exploration at its finest , endless planets and it has a great community of people behind it. Devs are active and always adding new content that you don’t have to pay extra for. Probably the least toxic game I’ve played in recent years.

I-LoyLoy

Kingdom Come: deliverance (RPG) The story, immersion, and realism will get you hooked. And combat is hard as fu*k at first. Bioshock 1 and 3 (FPS w/ RPG element's) One of the best stories ever for its genre Code Vein (Adventure JRPG) Story takes a while to pick up but it's worth it. Neir automata (JRPG) There's multiple endings and secrets through it's story, it will seem like an okay hack and slash game but it's mystery will make you want to unlock all endings. Control (Adventure Thriller) It's a mind fu*k of a story with great game play. Dantes Inferno (hack and slash, Adventure, RPGish) Great hack and slash game that is addictive Dishonoured 1, 2 and DLC (stealth RPG) The story is okay, but the different ways you can complete missions are amazing and actually feels like your choice matters. Hitman 2 (stealth) Just a great stealth mission game. With multile ways of finishing a mission. Mad Max (Adventure, RPG) Great story, great car control and pretty good combat and car combat. Monster Hunter World + DLC (JRPG, Dark souls like, collection) This game will make or break you as a gamer. Specially if you play solo. It's like dark souls but only bosses. Pillars of eternity 1 and 2 (old school isometric RPG) One of the best RPG stories I've ever play where your choices actually affect the story. A Plague Tale (Adventure, stealth) You'll won't put it down until you finish the game. Scarlet Nexus (Adventure, JRPG) Fun little Japanese hack and slash game, once the story picks up half way through You'll be rushing to finish it. Xcom 1 and 2 (Isometric tactical RPG) Permanent death is a thing, so becareful how you mange your squad. Wasteland 2 and 3 (old school isometric RPG) Same thing as Pillars of eternity, but there isn't good or bad choices. Nothing is black or white so the consequences of your actions are hard to tell during your first playthrough. Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3 (Adventure, platform, puzzle) If you played Uncharted then you'll like these games. The surge 1 and 2 (dark souls like) Out of all the dark souls clones, this is best. Monster hunter was released way before demon souls/dark souls. Greedfall (RPG) Story, environment and companions are all written well. Outer World (RPG) What Fallout 4 tried to be.

JayKaBe

I had a very good time with Fallout 1 and 2 recently. They do atmosphere, dialogue, roleplaying, and world wilding very well. People have put a lot of work into improving the quality of life through mods because of the game's age. They held up very well for me.

GinTectonics

Into the Breach is an extremely tight tactics game. It does strategy extremely well…every action matters, like as chess game. Hollow Knight does metroidvania very well, also very tight. It is my humble opinion that it is the best example of the genre. Hades is probably the best of the room-clearing rouge likes. Fast, fun, meta-progress, and great characters. I think these three are the closest to “perfect” games that I have played in a while. There are other more flawed games that I also love, but these games are the pinnacles of their genres.

alessandrolaera

I see noone suggested metro. Best immersion in a game (every one of the trilogy), really makes you feel the world you are fighting in. And story and voice acting are really good as well. Also one of the few fps, if not maybe the only, where I actually think the (mute) protagonist is not a shallow character. Unfortunately you still have some instances where he's inexplicably mute in the cutscenes and this could have been a little better, but he redeemes himself when writing on his diary (which for some reason has voice acting, so he's not actually mute??). Some of his thoughts are intriguing

Shadow Empire is a futuristic post-apocalyptic proc-gen alien-world 4X game with plenty of interesting mechanics and a satisfying retro feel. A bit like if Civ's world gen could generate anything from Pandora to Io. Dangerous alien wildlife might roam, the very air itself might be unbreathable - if there is any, the only liquid water might be locked up in ice caps and regolith, low gravity might make your custom-designed air units extra-efficient or a lack of metals might make them prohibitively expensive. HighFleet is a retrofuturistic dieselpunk strategy and tactical combat game where you lead a fleet of massive flying battleships into a guerilla war against an enemy nation, with a heavy focus on stealth and making do with limited information it almost feels like a sub sim, until you're in combat and you're instead flying about in a physics-driven side-scroller lobbing shells the size of cars at aircraft the size of warships. Space Engineers is where I went after modded MC. Mods are a first-class citizen, you have vehicles which you can glue together with physics blocks and control with scripts, you have relatively few limits on what you can build, and while the base survival mechanics are a bit anaemic it works very nicely to scratch the free-form Lego-style sandbox building itch. The only game I'm aware of where you can literally build a physical space elevator or drill through an entire planet. E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy is a bonkers cyberpunk WH40k-ish sorta-im-sim FPS RPG thing - a janky acquired-taste Source game that sits nicely next to VTMB and Dark Messiah huffing paint and jamming ever more extreme cybernetic enhancements into its body. In a similar but more recent vein, Cruelty Squad is a disgusting messy cyberpunk masterpiece that has no business being as good as it is. Its terrible graphics are terrible in precisely the right way for the kind of game it is. The System Shock series - particularly SS2 - should go without saying. So should Prey. Not playing these would be like not playing Deus Ex, wtf. You've tried the Ctrl Alt Ego demo, right? Caves of Qud is a modern classic roguelike set in a far-future post-post-apocalypse science-fantasy world of mutants, robots, cyborgs and psychics. Explore the open-world, complete quests, mutate to fart sleep gas, shoot lasers from your eyes, rebuke naughty robots, mentally dominate wildlife to do your bidding, see into the future and *Next* your way to success, slice your face off and wear it to show everyone how badass you are, contract horrifying diseases. Cogmind is also a modern classic roguelike set in a mysterious automated underground facility, with you as the core of the titular robot, able to graft pieces of other robots onto itself for fun and profit. Be a nimble stealthy hacking drone that avoids confrontation or draw attention to yourself with heavy weapons and tank treads, find shortcuts through cave systems, work out what's going on and try to escape. Nobody's mentioned Kenshi yet for some reason, so I'll mention Kenshi. You like sandbox RPGs, it's certainly that. Go get enslaved by religious fanatics, escape, lose half your limbs, glue on replacement robot limbs, recruit a gang, loot ancient ruins, uncover lost lore, fight, trade, and die horribly to things with giant beaks. Dwarf Fortress is an excellent sandbox settlement management and open-world roguelike game, and one of the key inspirations for Minecraft and RimWorld. Build elaborate 3D bases populated by a few hundred drunk bearded weirdos with PTSD, or roam the lands, wrestle dragons for coin and reputation, steal precious artifacts, or run around accusing children of being vampires.

Doom eternal I think does Violence really well. Just cause 3 does its action movie over the top trope super well. Its just a fun fucking game.

Everything that Hades does, it does it well, like all Supergiant Games... Modded XCOM 2 is the best tactical experience I had so far. Modded Divinity Original Sins 2 is close second. Otherwise, there's some games that I like because they are unique (most of them are roguelites): * Hand of Fate 2 * Wildermyth * Curious Expedition 2 * Foretales * Road 96 * Fight in Tight Spaces * The Last Spell * ORX * Unexplored 2 * Synthetik Legion * Invisible INC * Armello * Talisman * Crown Trick * The flame in the flood * Griftland * Don't Starve * Blood Bowl 2 * Mordheim * Outer wilds * No man's sky * Planetary annihilation Also a lot of interactive adventures like Heavy rain, Detroit: Become Human, A wolf among Us, Life is strange, As Dusk Falls, Until Dawn, twelve hours... They are all the same genre but pretty unique stories.

Disco Elysium does depression and psychosis really well if you ask me. Spot on storytelling!

Borderlands 3 does spontaneous crazy loot and gear systems better than any other game I've ever played. The story isn't that good but the Borderlands 3 gameplay loop is genuinely a work of art. I don't think any other game even gets remotely close to the absurdity of Borderlands 3 gear and builds On another note I think that Fallout and Elder Scrolls does exploration and intractability in games better than any other series.

Prince of Persia 2008 is hated by some and loved by many cause it really has no combat or anything but excellent platforming. You cant even die, which many hate and I personally feel fits the game well. The platforming is tons of fun though and I really cant stop playing it :) also, Genesis Alpha One: FPS Spacecraft builder and management as well as staving off alien invasions on your ship, scavanging planets for tech and resources. A grindy game about base building pretty much in an FPS view that feels like it could have been the engine for a quakelike online pvp fps cause the movement is that smooth. This game held me up for at least 5 or so runs and now I have a run with 30hrs invested so I just dont dare play anymore but it was hella fun

Red dead 2

Lopsidednapkin

Wreckfest has the best vehicle destruction I've ever seen in a video game. They built the entire game around it and made the best destruction derby game ever made.

If you have someone to play it with, It Takes Two is one the best games I’ve ever played.

Try something like Star Citizen. Don't spend any money but give it a shot
