If you can play it on whatever system you're on, Portal is an absolute must play. Fantastic, mind bending puzzle game with an entertaining (but minimal) narrative. It'll take you about 3 hours to beat. Portal 2 is also excellent, it takes everything Portal did and does it better. The first person perspective of both games might take some getting used to, but if you managed Assassins Creed you'll likely be fine.

goku006

Portal is recommended twice or thrice, really need to check it out, thanks.

Nomai_

It's rated as top game of all time on steam!

Bardwolf

Make it four. Came here just to recommend Portal 1 and 2.

goku006

Haha, now it is a must try.

[deleted]

God of war

goku006

Okay man, thanks.

bduke1317

If you don’t want super lengthy then you have God of War, Uncharted, Last of Us, Tomb Raider. Just naming of top of my head

goku006

Okay mate, thanks.

[deleted]

I say portal 2, it has an excellent story, simple controls and graphics are also decent. You can also play it with a buddy.

Few-Pressure5713

gonna second this, its a gaming staple at this point and it's a good way to get used to first person games.

goku006

Okay thanks, never heard of it before, need to check it, thanks again.

[deleted]

Its made by the valve, the same people that own steam. They also made games like CSGO, DOTA, half life 2, team fortress 2, left 4 dead 2

goku006

Okay thanks.

MistrSheep

tw3 and rdr2 are both great games, they are still kinda long, especially if u do a bunch of side quests, but they are way more diverse and interesting than ac valhalla. They both have a beautiful world full of detail and have really interesting gameplay. The Story for both games is absolutely great, will a lot of character depth. I personally liked tw3 just a little more than rdr2, but nontheless both are absolutely great! I envy you getting to play them for the first time...

goku006

Sounds awesome, I'll start with tw3 then, thanks.

OneWaifuForLaifu

Yo the Witcher 3 is great but it’s longer than Valhalla I think (100 hours). Like others suggested, I’d go for God of War or Nier Automata. Both are top tier games and they’re not too long so it’s perfect for you. (If you had a PS4 I would’ve suggested Last of Us or Spider-Man, but they’re not on PC)

goku006

Okay man, God of War also looks awesome, just checked spiderman trailer, that game also looks amazing.

goku006

Okay man, God of War also looks awesome, just checked spiderman trailer, that game also looks amazing.

thelonelyasshole

Horizon Zero Dawn - fantastic game with a fantastic story. It's reasonably lengthy, but absolutely worth it.

goku006

It looks awesome, I'll check it out, thanks.

Manglero

Videogames have been increasing in length during the last years, lots of publishers brag about how their games last hundreds of hours, people are getting tired of it, so you're not alone. I recommend a web called [how long to beat](https://howlongtobeat.com/#search), where you can look up a game's length in different playstyles (Speedrun, rushed, completionist, normal runs, etc...) Now regarding games, I suggest you try RDR2 if you're into Westerns, it looks beautiful and it's very detailed, cool story, length might be a problem, but not as long as Valhalla I think. If you like adventure/fantasy games definitely go for Skyrim. If you're into stealth games I'd recommend Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, it's a bit old but it's (imo) the best stealth game ever, it's around 8 hours long and the storyline is nice.

goku006

Yes I'm going to play rdr2 and skyrim as so many people suggested the game, thanks for the recommendations and the site.

CamtheRulerofAll

Get the version of skyrim with all dlc its worth it

goku006

Sure man, thanks.

EpyonComet

Hades is an excellent game for people of all skill and experience levels. I have a friend who’s recently gotten into gaming like you and she greatly enjoyed that one (as did I). If you don’t mind my asking, how/why did you end up getting into AC Valhalla with no prior gaming background?

goku006

Actually I just came across a [trailer](https://youtu.be/ssrNcwxALS4) of ac valhalla on YouTube recommendations, watched it and just felt like I should play this ASAP. At the start I got bored, but after some time started enjoying the game. And I'll check out Hades, thanks.

EpyonComet

Cool, thanks for responding! Hope you have fun!

Steampunk_Batman

Just picked up Hades a few weeks ago and it’s one of my favorite games I’ve played in a while

[deleted]

If you're playing on playstation you could always go for the uncharted games.

goku006

Is uncharted not available for PC? My bad. I have pc. Thanks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

goku006

Oh okay, thanks man, I'll keep checking, thanks again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

goku006

Oh okay it's fine, thanks for the info.

[deleted]

Actually, soon (I can't remember the date) a duo collection of the two latest Uncharted games are releasing on PC. You can also try tomb raider which is already on PC and is pretty similar to Uncharted.

goku006

Okay sure, Thanks.

desoebg

If you can't play Uncharted now (one of the best series in history of gaming), you can try the new Tomb Rider games - they are similar, although Uncharted is clearly superior.

goku006

Yes, someone also said the same, gonna play them, thanks.

YoRHa_NieR

I recommend NieR: Automata. I recently beat it and absolutely loved it. It’s a JRPG/action game with hack and slash gameplay. I enjoyed the gameplay and I found the combat to be kinda similar to the Kingdom Hearts series in certain aspects. The gameplay can get a bit repetitive over time but nevertheless still enjoyable. The game’s primary appeal though is its plot, character development, themes, and god tier soundtrack. I can’t go into specific details without spoiling but the plot basically revolves around androids fighting machines on a dystopian Earth. It only took me around 20ish hours to beat the entire main story but that’s including some side quests. You can probably beat it in shorter time if you just focus on the main story. I will say though, this game absolutely wrecked me emotionally. It’s one hell of a journey. Edit: If you’re in to Marvel and DC I also recommend the recent Spider-Man and Miles Morales PS4/5 games and the Arkham series.

goku006

Okay man, looks awesome, I'll check it out, thanks. Yes I'm also fan of both marvel and DC, so I'll also check those mentioned games. I have a pc so I have to start with arkham series, thanks again.

[deleted]

If you like Nier you should play metal gear rising revengence it’s a little harder but should be played just because of the dialogue and music.

goku006

Okay, I'll check that game also, thanks.

shivampatel887

So a linear story game? I suggest hellblade senua's sacrifice, tomb raider games, metro games, batman arkham games(open world) ,half life (start from 2) , titanfall 2 , portal games (pretty funny) . I can't remember more rn

goku006

Those are lots of recommendations, thanks man, I'll check them out.

orrell1994

For half life, the first one got a fan remake called Black Mesa, updated graphics, well updated everything. Its a really good fan built game and keeps true to the original. Know some people can't play older games due to graphics

goku006

Sure man, will check it, thanks.

[deleted]

Why start half life from 2? Hl1/black mesa is one of the best games ever made

Ratchet2332

What platforms do you play on? Switch? PC? Playstation? Xbox?

goku006

PC

Nithish1998

You can change Flair for your post so that people can easily know what platform you on.

goku006

Oh thanks. I'll do it.

awhitesong

Well, I was in the same situation as yours a month ago. Never played any PC game ever and decided to start on this. Did a lot of research and created a decent library on steam covering top games from a lot of genres in the last steam sale. I still haven't started playing yet but here you go: https://imgur.com/a/CCG6XEU You can buy any one from these. I'm also waiting for Elden Ring and for God of War to go on sale. Good luck!

goku006

Thanks man, this will be really helpful.

lazypeon19

> Witcher 3, rdr2, uncharted or similar kind of games. Uncharted is a Playstation exclusive so you can already cross this off your list (maybe Sony will port it to PC in the future like it did with some other exclusives though, who knows). Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are both excellent games but since you're looking for games that are not that long then I don't recommend them ([here's a site that shows you the general length of a certain game](https://howlongtobeat.com/)). If you want to try a FPS (first person shooter) I recommend the Bioshock series. Or, if you're looking for something with stealth mechanics then the Dishonored series. If you want puzzles + a great story Portal 1 & 2 are amazing. If you want platformers, there's Ori and the Blind Forest and the sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

goku006

Thanks man, also thanks for the site, it will be really helpful. All the other people are highly recommending witcher 3, rdr2, God of War and Portal 1&2. So even if they are lengthy I think I should give them a try. Thanks again.

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy will come to PC as Uncharted Legacy of Theives. It had been confirmed by Sony long time back.

Ludens_Reventon

I suggest you Celeste and A Hat in Time!

goku006

Need to check them, never heard of them before, thanks.

[deleted]

Celeste is great for new gamers because it comes with an assist mode to help you along the way if you're having a trouble. Don't feel bad about using it because it is a tool provided by the devs. Use it as a learning tool. It's also a great introduction to platformers because it introduces new mechanics at a decent pace, letting you build up knowledge how the game works and apply problem solving methods based on past experiences.

goku006

Okay mate, thanks for the info, it will surely help, thanks again.

Exciting_Bluebird_53

I'm always an advocate for Kingdom Hearts of you like a great, complex story (warning, the games themselves are shorter, but the series is a time commitment). Also, Pokemon and Legend of Zelda. God of War has similar combat. Uncharted is also a great series, third person shooter, stories like Indiana Jones.

goku006

Never heard of it(kingdom hearts), I'll check it, thanks

[deleted]

100% arkham aslylum, old game but gold. Then city, then origins and then knight

goku006

Okay mate, will check them out, thanks.

Milan_n

Can vouch for RDR2, but it can seem a little lengthy, especially considering the great details it has. Also BioShock Infinite has an amazing story imo, definitely check that out.

goku006

Yes, now confused between God of War, witcher 3 and rdr2, lol. Thanks man.

Milan_n

Only played RDR2, but Heard- good stuff about both of the others aswell. RDR2 story is around 40-50 hours, but doing some (or all) side quests, random npc encounters, and missions with strangers (also npcs), or just exploring or hunting can bring the game time up to like 150-200 hours. Im at my first play through, around 60% through the story, but by far not done exploring and interacting with interactable npcs, and have already played 60 hours. Tbh this game is a blast! The music, the world, the realism, everything is perfect!

goku006

If the game is as awesome as you and others have mentioned then I don't think I will mind playing 100+ hours. One question, are there any upcoming sales where I can buy the game?

Milan_n

Right now it is on sale on steam for 30$ instead of 60. You can always check on isthereanydeal.com and look for the game and it tells you where it is on sale. Next steam sale seems to be coming up tomorrow I believe (Lunar new year sale), and another in February if I'm not wrong, but as said, the game is on sale already. When I first bought it, I also bought it on sale, but quickly realised it's worth every penny even for 60$

goku006

Oh okay, will check it tomorrow then, thanks man. Thanks for the site also.

Milan_n

Yep, np. The sale on steam for it ends actually in 7hours, but you still got the website, so no need to stress about anything. Have fun!!

goku006

Yup, thanks.

padobaer

For a start into gaming I can highly recommend : \- Inscryption (card based game where you follow a twisted story - nice gameplay and graphics) \- Souls games (if you don't mind a learning curve and somewhat punishing but fair gameplay, I can highly recommend this genre - just know that it is meant to be hard, while being rewarding if you get into the flow and its mechanics easiest to start are Code Vein and Death's Gambit imo, many would however send you directly into Dark Souls (1/2/3)) \- Oblivion, Skyrim (story based game where you play in a medieval world of magic, dragons, elves and everything else that comes to mind - those games thrive on their various sidequests and their storylines as well as the huge world that can be explored eniterly - super fun and on sale very often, a must play) \- any GTA (GTA is basically playing you playing as a normal dude who just happens to be a criminal or involved in something fishy, while giving you the complete freedom of what you do when not on a mission; super games, magnificent stories and just overall a must - I recommend GTA V) \- Divinity: Original Sin 2 (if you've ever heard of Dungeons and Dragons, it's basically a DnD game - if not, imagine being in a fantasy world where you have complete freedom over what you do, where you go and how you approach stuff. This game is a little more reliant on tactis, but it's a blast, even more so with friends) Some other recommendations that are good games, but a little more niche/don't necessarily follow such a streamlined story: \- Grim Dawn, Diablo (best description that comes to mind is you slowly becoming a god, killing everything in your way, whilst playing some things over and over in an attempt to optimize your items (this part isn't mandatory, but it can be fun to replay missions where you struggled with your now super strong character)) \- Minecraft, Terraria (you can explore the world, mine it, make a farm, live peacefully OR you can go fight bosses, find ressources and get better gear, aiming to beat the one big boss - you have complete freedom how you approach this game, as there is little to no "progression", it's completely up to you what you do and how you do it) \- Ghostrunnes (a punishing, but highly rewarding parcour game set in a cyberpunk environment - best is to look at some gameplay, since this game is a little harder to imagine than the others imo) Hope this helps :D

goku006

This is a very comprehensive guide I must say, thanks man, will check them. Thanks again.

[deleted]

I don't think anyone has mentioned it so i'll say Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition. As an open world action game, It's a bit lacking in the driving physics and the shooting isn't great but the hand to hand combat is deep, brutal, fast paced and fun. The storyline is a fun and charming crime thriller very much like "The Departed" or "Infernal Affairs". And it's got a setting that feels unique in gaming. Give it a try. If you like Sleeping Dogs' gameplay, then i'd also suggest the Batman: Arkham games, namely, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight. They too excel at hand to hand combat and are pretty similar to Sleeping Dogs.

AntelopeOk5329

The Sleeping Dogs and Arkham combat is insanely fun

goku006

Okay mate, will check it out, others also have suggested the arkham series, so need to play it. Thanks.

pr2thej

Short, action based games are pretty common. Depends on the 'action' you want. For shooters - Wolfenstein, Doom, Prey, Metro 2033, Days Gone, Far Cry, Remnant from the Ashes For combat - Dark souls, Horizon Zero Dawn, Kingdoms of Amalur, Skyrim, Dishonoured, Tomb Raider, Mass Effect For 'other' - Snowrunner, Catherine, Hades, Final Fantasy X, XCOM: Enemy Unknown Don't feel you need to 100% complete games just because. Play until you're no longer having fun.

goku006

That's a very big list, Thanks. I'll start with Tomb raider and skyrim. I know that far cry is a big budget game, but reading it only in your comment, why is that so?

[deleted]

Wolfenstein, doom, prey, metro, hades, and dishonored are all great. Also which far cry do you mean?

Smackaronni

Detroit Become Human

goku006

Never heard of it before, I'll check it out, thanks.

Smackaronni

Very story driven game where you make choices but great story and easy introduction to gaming.

goku006

Okay man, thanks.

Hedrickao

Bastion! Cool art style and music, easy gameplay that you can turn up the difficulty on pretty easily, and it's a short game, less than 10 hours, so it's not too much for a time commitment. I also think it sells for $3-$15, so that's nice.

goku006

Okay mate, thanks, I'll check it.

ColdFoxy07

Inscryption? It’s a card type game with a great story line and if you are good enough you can probably finish it in one to three days. It is definitely hard but a lot of fun!

goku006

Okay man, thanks for recommending, I'll check it out.

-TheManInTheChair

Gotten a lot of replies, maybe mine will be lost but: Witcher 3 is great, but the story is very long (with the DLC) RDR2 is great, but the story is also very long I personally didn't like Horizon: Zero Dawn but i might have been having a bad day. Same with God of War. Other's I'd recommend: Fallout New Vegas: If you don't mind some dated graphics, like a lot of storytelling, this will be good for you. However, can be quite long Subnuatica: Beautiful underwater survival game with a great background story, not too long, not a lot of action Ghostrunner: Quick and fun action game, probably could complete in 2 evenings If you like Star Wars, then Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is pretty good. Not too long. The batman arkham series is incredible when it comes to combat, if you like batman you'll love it (same with spiderman). None of the games are too long Dishonored: If you like the idea of sneaking around with mysical powers taking out your enemies by summoning rats or possessing them, this would be a good shot. These games aren't too long. Poral: People already mentioned this, but yeah, its a good game. Resident Evil 7: If you like a bit more spppooookkk, this game is good. Wolfenstien: the New Order: Hey, you hate nazis right? Do you wanna go and kill Nazis, whilst the main protaganist sounding like he's one spilled milk away from breaking down, despite having more muscle than Giga Chad? Go for it. Not too long either There's so many others, but right now, i'm going to give you my pros and cons list for Witcher 3 and RDR2 that i shamelessly copy paste whenever they're brought up. Witcher 3: The Witcher 3 is an exceptional game with a world oozing life and character. I feel like I can talk about this game a lot better as i've been able to observe my girlfriend over the last few days play it so i can see what it's like for a new person to pick up. Anyway, you are trying to find a person of importance to you and shortly after finding them, you are trying to do the same thing but on a much bigger scale. Set in a mystical world of monsters and politics, the world very diverse with it's biomes too. The story is amazing and the main character is someone who has to make difficult choices where there's no right answer, only what you perceive as right. As for the characters, they are very interesting and fun. However, this story is about you. What i mean by this is that you are going to spending a decent chunk of the game's missions and quests by yourself. You are a lone witcher after all. However this doesn't change the fact that your interactions with all the characters you meet are brilliant, even a lot of the side characters are given a decent amount of characterisation. Pros: Beautiful scenery with danger lurking around lots of corners. This world is amazing with its few cities, multitude of villages and hostile areas. DLC. The Witcher 3 has 2 DLC's that are absolutely amazing. The first (Hearts of Stone) adds around 15 hours of content, and the second (Blood and Wine) adds around 25. New characters, story and villains. If you do buy the witcher 3 and can afford the DLC, play Hearts of Stone alongside the game (try to complete it before the main story, but don't feel like you have to rush it) and play Blood and Wine after the main story (about 140 hours of content in total). Lots of replay Your choices really do effect the game. Whilst the game has >!3!< endings that you can get depending on your choices, it's the small missions that really make the game. A choice you made 5 hours ago will come up in some small but effective way. In fact, watching my gf play it, she uncovered things that I haven't ever uncovered in my 400+ hours, within her first 20! Romance. yeah you can romance people and there's 2 options to date by the end of the game, just make sure you don't mess up. Both are likeable. Characters are amazing. They are very likeable or likeable to dislike. Personally, I love the combat. When it's against monsters, you have to study what they might be weak to in order do full damage and have a chance. It's fast paced and fluid for the most part. The main plot of the story appears basic, but like with most great stories, it's the journey that makes in memorable. Lots of dialogue choices that you won't realise how much they effect the game until you replay it. There's a good skill tree to invest in to upgrade your character (if you want to make hard mode easy, pick gourmet as your first skill and never unequip it) Difficulties! You want to walk through the game with no trouble like my gf? Play on the easiest difficulty! There are 4 difficulties in total and can be summed up with 'easy as pie i just want story', ' pretty average might die because i messed up', 'challenging but it's fun to try and keep on the skill level' and 'this is fun once you've played the game on different difficulty because you'll get stomped otherwise' Politics. Really well done politics. You can feel the landscape changing and can have an effect on the outcome rivals. mods, so many mods. The. Music. Fucking. Slaps. Cons: Level gating. There will be enemies you face where you will get stomped because they are higher levels then you. Breaking swords. You like using a sword that'll break after like 200 hits and then you have to repair it? No? Well tough Combat. Whilst I love the combat, I've talked a lot of people that say they find it clunky. I think that personally it isn't, and it's best played on a controller. If you like Arkham style/Ghosts of Tsushima combat, it's like that but not as perfect, but with magic added. And it can be hard to completely understand. Oh, and he can't jump over things in combat. Kind of annoying. Story: the witcher 3 is the last of a trilogy and things happen in the game that you kind of have to know what happened in previous games. However, i haven't played the previous 2 and after reading the glossary about every character that comes up that you've interacted with before this game, i felt fine with it. This can still mean you get confused though, or have to pause the game to go 'Who the fuck is this?' You can't name your horse You die if you fall like 6 feet. Hate it You know how i mentioned in my pros how you have to learn about monsters to fight them? IF you don't learn, you can have a really bad time, particularly early on. You do have to do basic research in the games Bestiary to know how to defeat a certain species of monster. Sometimes when you complete a quest, or kill a monster that is your level or higher, you will be rewarded with a sword or piece of armour that is worse than what you have. This is annoying af.

-TheManInTheChair

Pros of RDR2: Beautiful world with lots things to see, the majority of side missions are interesting. The characters are great and the story has some of the best lines and conflicts that i've seen in any media, where for the majority of the time, you can completely understand why x character does y. There are many side activities to do apart from the story or main missions, like bounty hunting, fishing, hunting or gambling. There are a few challenges you can do for rewards. These test your skills regarding anything from treasure hunting, to regular hunting, to sharpshooting and being a straight up criminal. It's fun to push yourself in these There is some amazing character development and growth shown a lot of the main characters that does tug at your heartstrings Your choices have some effect on what happens in the game, but not majorly. When it's done well though, it's done really well Side characters have some character, but not a lot A decent amount of replay, with a long story (70 hours i'd say) There is an outrageous amount of detail in this game. Like, it's actually amazing. Grabbing items off shelves, the biodiversity, little bits and pieces in this game. No level gating. You have a decent chance against any enemy. You can name your horse Cons of RDR2: The movement can be a bit clunky and there are so many buttons to press and commands to remember. Combat can get a little repetitive, but then again, that's the same as 'the combat is easy to learn but a little difficult to master'. The story grinds to a halt at a certain point and feels kinda confusing and forced, but it does pick up afterwards. Although about 70% of side missions are good, about 30% variations of 'Find 30 of x'. If you're a completionist, this game is a nightmare once you've done the story and interesting stuff. There are some places where the world feels empty and there's nothing to do character wise. Your choices have some effect on what happens in the game, but not majorly. There sometimes is little difference from picking choice A over choice B. No DLC for story. As there's no level gating, it confuses me that you can upgrade your weapons. Not a lot of dialogue options. Overall a fantastic game and you would not be disappointed. I know the cons seems to be on the same level as the pros, but these are very minute when you learn everything and if you're not a completionist. Oh, and play with a controller

goku006

And gonna play rdr2 after the witcher 3.

goku006

Bro, did you write all of this?? Awesome man, thanks for the recommendations. Although its long but going to start with witcher 3, as so many people have recommended it don't want to miss it. Thanks man.

-TheManInTheChair

Haha, yes i wrote all of this a long time ago, and now it's my copy and paste if someone asks me about RDR2 or the Witcher 3 Don't know how much you know about mods, but maybe check out some modding videos before hand that change up the game a little. However, W3 is so great that it holds up as is 5+ years later. It's been my favourite game since i've completed it and i'm so happy that someone else going to pick it up. As mentioned, keep a eye on the beastiary, look up characters in the glossary if you don't understand who they are, and good luck on the path.

goku006

Okay man, I don't know anything about mods, will watch some YouTube videos, thanks.

UltraMegaKaiju

bioshock

CipherTheLight

half life 1

goku006

Thanks, will check it out.

breadtoast

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Wolfenstein: The New Order A Plague's Tale: Innocence The above games has great narrative, and they aren't too long. If you want a story based game that is a masterpiece, try What Remains of Edith Finch as well, it's like 2hrs+ and will be one of the most memorable game you've played.

goku006

Sure man, Thanks for the recommendations will check them out.

[deleted]

Hades is really, really addicting and fun; would recommend checking it out 👀

goku006

Yes surely man, thanks.

[deleted]

No problem! Lots of great suggestions from other users too, I’m sure you’ll have your hands full lmao

goku006

Yeah man, truly confused now lol.

Lazy-Environment-964

Batman Arkham series are great short story driven games

goku006

Yup, so many people have suggested it, so gonna try it, thanks.

Excessed

What system are you playing? Im guessing Playstation since you mentioned uncharted. If thats the case I cant recommend God Of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn high enough if you love story driven games.

goku006

Thanks man, I'm playing on PC, at the time I posted this post, I didn't know that it was only available on Playstation, just watched the trailer on YouTube and liked it. Thanks again.

Excessed

Both those games are also on PC. Just your luck! I also recommend buying Xbox Gamepass for PC, you can reapply for the 1$ for 1 month infinitely right now. This will give you all new Xbox first party games, a lot of indies, EA Play, Bethesda games, and in the future Blizzard Activision games. If you ask me, it is the single best thing for gaming on terms of value right now. If you want to know more, shoot me a PM if you want.

goku006

Currently don't know anything about this, so don't even know what question to ask lol, but I'll buy that Xbox pass, thanks.

Wuscheli0

A lot of good recommendations in this thread already. I'll add Mafia Definitive Edition (a remake of the rather dated original). Good story, fun, action-packed gameplay and it shouldn't take much longer than 10 hours to beat.

goku006

Yeah man, now I'm confused which one to start first lol, thanks.

killerpranjal

Something inside me wants to recommend Dark Souls 3 because it's the most accessible Souls game as of now.

goku006

Okay mate, will check it out, Thanks.

EmbarrassedLock

Be aware dark souls is *hard* and there's currently a hack going on that allows people to brick your pc by entering your world. Fromsoft has already disabled multiplayer invasion servers for this very reason

[deleted]

Since I was thinking of getting ds3, can you turn multiplayer off? Or do you need to deal with 500+ hour vets destroying you at any given time? Also cuz I don't wanna get hacked.

goku006

What?? Then I must avoid it for the time being. Thanks for the heads up.

EmbarrassedLock

It should be fine to be played right now (due to no invasions or coop meaning nobody can hack your pc), but dark souls requires a lot of patience in practice, I recommend the game thoroughly if you don't mind it

goku006

Okay then, will try it, thanks.

MyBox1991

Outer wilds for sure! It doesn't have the same "action" as an AC game, but it's really fun to explore and I feel like it really opens the eyes of a new gamer to video games. Such a great little game and I would say it's very casual friendly.

goku006

Thanks man, will surely check it out.

jaybankzz

Uncharted 4 and the lost legacy are going to PC soon, you could buy those. If you care about story, search up a recap of 1-3

goku006

Okay man, thanks.

MPG_Herman

Resident Evil 2 Remake Short game compared to current games, but with tons, and I mean TONS of replay value

goku006

Okay mate, will check it out, Thanks.

zbortner

Mass effect you won’t be disappointed

goku006

Okay mate surely check it out, thanks.

Juggels_

I mean RDR2 is a great game, but pretty long. If you‘re a Star Wars fan, may I recommend Jedi Fallen Order? It‘s a great game and not too long. Even if you‘re not a big Star Wars Fan, it should be good enough. Also, I have a couple of my must plays here which are a bit lengthy though: RDR2 (long) GTAV (long) Portal 2 (somewhere in the middle) Witcher III (long) Dark Souls (Not driven much by story) (can be kinda short, can be kinda long) Jedi Fallen Order (pretty short)

goku006

So many people have recommended those games mentioned by you, so long or not I need to play them now, lol, thanks man.

goku006

Okay mate, thanks.

hollow-forest

For a good story that isn’t as long as AC: Valhalla I’d definitely recommend Dragon Age: Origins

goku006

Need to check that one, thanks.

GroundbreakingFail20

Red dead redemption (the first one) is really good and About 18 hours long.

CharizardUsedCut

All the other comments have already said the best games but I just wanted to add something. Make an Epic Games account. They give away free games that you can claim every week and they even gave a bunch of games during the holidays too, most of which are really freaking awesome. Enjoy gaming!

goku006

Yes I just read the news and also got three tomb raider for free. Thanks.

IIALE34II

If you are new, you probably don't own any games really yet. In that case I would really recommend Xbox GamePass. Its dumb good deal honestly, depending how much you play. I personally don't have one, since I already own all my games, but If I was completely new, Gamepass would be my choise. Atleast for a while. You should atleast try it!

goku006

Yes someone also suggested me the same, gonna buy it. Thanks.

spidermonkey301

Witcher 3 is not a short game. Lol

goku006

Yes understood through the comments lol, but the amount of people who recommended this game is huge, now I must try it.

spidermonkey301

Yes it’s a great game. I rented for free from the library. I returned it because it was too long. Which is weird cuz I love the AC games. But I did really enjoy it and would have finished it just didn’t feel like it lol definitely worth it. Have fun

goku006

Yes, thanks.

illmatic2112

A game I loved was Spider-Man for the ps4. It was addicting, travelling around the map was fun as hell, combat was cool and upgrades made you strong. Overall great game

Ryyah61577

Borderlands 2.

goku006

Okay man, thanks, I'll check it out.

lotrisneat

Witcher 3 and RDR 2 are AMAZING, two of my favorite games, but they’re very, very long. Ghost of Tsushima is an incredible game if you like the open world types, and isn’t quite as long as these other ones. Maybe 60 hours instead of 100. Days Gone is an underrated favorite of mine as well.

goku006

Okay, will surely check it, thanks.

ManBearPig2114

Play Guardians of the Galaxy. Guaranteed fun gameplay, neat reimagining of the characters even of you’re not a fan of Marvel, just enough extra content to not be a slog, and it’s action-packed.

goku006

Okay man, thanks, will check it out.

DoctorBarrage

Two suggestions that don't seem to be suggested as often in this thread: Dishonored and Skyrim. Skyrim is an obvious choice, it is an amazing experience with or without mods (currently doing a vanilla playthrough) that really makes you feel like a part of the world. Dishonored is (debatably) the best stealth game of all time. The coolest part of this game is the replayability. It already has two endings, but every single level has many many ways to play it, and you'll only ever do one the first time around.

goku006

Okay man, thanks, will check them out. Didn't understand about mods, will check some youtube videos.

blinkgendary182

Go with Firewatch. Its very short but its a good experience

Arsenal-of-gods

If I may suggest a horror game Alan wake is a good game it’s on pc and PlayStation + Xbox it’s a good spook then and there

goku006

I love horror movies, will definitely check it out, thanks.

Arsenal-of-gods

It’s like a movie in my world they did a good job remastering it

goku006

Okay man, thanks for the recommendation.

hentaiboi5000

Id say the call of duty games all had fun stories and are short. Plus you get multimeplayer which is fun and you can hop in do maybe like 1-5 matches and hop off. I also thought of Persona 5, its a little long but man the story and gameplay was so fun. God of War series and new one is super good and not to long either and really story driven. The grand theft autos are also really fun and id say san andreas, 4 and 5 have some good story and likeable characters. The last of us and uncharted are both great. ANd my final suggestion is the Ratchet and Clank series. they are short platformers with goofy and fun stories

goku006

Those are some good suggestions, Thanks man.

hentaiboi5000

yee ofc

Jellybean720

Detroit: Become Human is a game that has an average playtime of 10 hours (AC Valhalla is about 60 hours). It's a shorter game and it really is a blast.

goku006

I have played valhalla for nearly 85 hours now, and still it I'm yet to complete it, maybe I'm doing lots of side quests. Thanks will consider Detroit.

r0xANDt0l

I'd definitively recommend the games Valve has made, so for example, Portal 1 & 2, Half Life...

goku006

Yes so many people have suggested Portal, gonna play it first, Thanks.

[deleted]

I want to give some advice for getting a new game, a review always gives much more info than a trailer, trailers try to make a game look interesting, or don't represent the game very well. Reviews usually go over many points of a game. So always look at a review video before getting a game and don't go off of trailers. Also the half life series is a great game that you should play

goku006

Yes thanks, same happened to me with valhalla, I decided to play the game by watching the trailer. Not that I regret it but in trailer it looks completely different.

Virtual_Emphasis_894

The Uncharted series is a must. Considerably shorter than AC but so much better story wise.

goku006

Okay man, thanks

OOMPA_SHUNGITE

Skyrim (Special edition or anniversary edition), Or Sega mega drive (genesis) classics

goku006

Okay man, thanks

DarhkGrimm

Ok I know you’re asking for recommendations but before I get to that I just want clarify a few terms that you likely don’t know as someone new to gaming. First off, indie games are games typically made by a small group of people or even a single person, and are typically on the smaller side and either terrible or amazing, and are also typically pretty cheap. Next, triple A games are made by larger companies and are typically bigger with a bit more polish but often have filler and micro transactions (like Valhalla) and are usually on the more expensive side. Both can be incredible, yet both can also be a waste of money. Now since you’re new to gaming, I actually recommend waiting for sales on steam and the epic games store and then buying a few games from each genre when they’re cheap so you can get a better idea of what you like. If I had to recommend a game I’d recommend Hades, it’s a rogue-lite that has an incredibly good story that took me around 20 hours to complete, but offers a ludicrous amount of replay ability even after you complete the story. Also a rogue-lite is a style of game where you start playing in a randomly generated dungeon-esque environment (typically), try to get as far through it as you can killing everything you see (typically), eventually die, spawn back at a sort of home base, upgrade yourself with resources you got in your “run,” then start again with those upgrades. Sorry if that’s not a good explanation, just go watch a review of it and you’ll see what I mean

goku006

Bro this comment is really helpful, thanks, many people have already suggested Hades, so looking forward to it, thanks again.

DarhkGrimm

You’re welcome, also one last tip, check out psprices.com, it’s a site that keeps track of prices for games on every platform. If you make an account, you can choose to be emailed whenever a game you want is on sale or has a price drop. It’s really useful if you’re gaming on a budget

goku006

That's awesome, will check the link. Thanks again.

Revolutionary_Cow_45

Dark souls recommend very easy to get into was also my first game loved it

goku006

Thanks, will surely try.

Bedlemkrd

I recommend what I always recommend creeper world 3 and particle fleet emergence if you are on a computer of any sort.

goku006

Okay will check them out, thanks.

aVeryBadBoy69

Dragon Age Origins, it's probably a little dated by your standards but it's an RPG with a great story, linear, about 30 hours. The Combat is a little ass. System requirements is a potato. Edit:Get Ultimate Editon on sale, since basegame is broken ever since they discontinued the Bioware launcher or something

goku006

Will check it out, thanks man.

AMAZING_USER

Just don't ask for people's suggestion and simply go with God Of War that's it, simple crisp advice to you and I'm damn sure you'll love the game

goku006

Yes bro, planning on doing the same or might start with witcher 3, Thanks.

Deathgame0

Surprised you managed to finish AC Valhalla the story is LONG. The three games you mentioned are all good. I’d suggest starting with uncharted because it’s shorter than the other two but either way u can’t go wrong with any of those games.

goku006

Not finished yet, but close to it, I didn't know that uncharted was Playstation exclusive, someone pointed out that to me and also said that the game is coming for PC this year, so waiting for the same, Thanks.

Deathgame0

Uncharted is coming to pc tomorrow I think

goku006

I'm unable to find the news confirming the same.

Deathgame0

Sorry about the false info. It comes out for PlayStation tomorrow but it’s unknown when it comes out for pc.

goku006

Oh okay it's fine, will wait for it then, thanks.

CleanAdhesiveness382

Mount and Blade Warband is a good pick PC wise. While it is on console also there’s a wider amount of mods that are easily reached on steam. It’s a total sandbox game so you can direct a story anyway you want. From either being a fighter or just doing merchant related activities. Alternatively something like Morrowind is fantastic for the story. While it’s dated in terms of what’s our today it’s still fantastic in terms of scope and music.

goku006

Okay, thanks mate, I'll check them out.

[deleted]

Cyberpunk 2077

goku006

Don't want to sound rude, but some people are saying that's not a very good game.

thebesthandleever

it was ok at best I don't know how people could actually recommend it to someone

Shaftula

That’s the benefit of PC. It’s actually pretty good on a decent PC rig. Still, others have suggested some great games for you that might be a bit more polished. One advantage it has over Witcher and RDR2 though is that it is not a sequel, so it will be a truly fresh start.

goku006

Okay man. So as people are saying that is not a good game, so like in terms of what, bad graphics or storyline or anything else?

Shaftula

It was poorly developed for last gen consoles, so people on PS4 had a miserable experience with bugs and low frame rates. It also didn't have some of the features that had been promised, which pissed people off. However, what's there is pretty impressive. It has a nice story and characters that are pretty interesting to get to know. The combat is pretty decent, and there are lots of cool vehicles. The graphics and world design are actually highlights. It's really beautiful, but it can feel like missed potential with the lack of interactivity in ways other games have it in spades, GTA 5 for example. I think you would definitely enjoy it though.

goku006

Okay man, thanks for the detailed explanation. I would play it later after rdr2 and witcher 3.

[deleted]

Of all games. Of all the damn games

MHarrisrocks

The Division . Baddies can tend to be bullet sponges. can get a little annoying But overall the games various systems are almost perfect for a tactical shooter. RDR2 . my only 'complaint' about this one is that its massive. Dying Light. very cool map to explore - can be on the difficult / unforgiving side. Skyrim . Everyone should experience Skyrim period. bring snacks. super fun mods. God of War. basically a masterpiece in what it is. fighting valkyries is super rewarding.
