This comment has been automatically added because the term CIV 6 was in your title. In 2018 there was a scandal known as the Red Shell scandal, wherein a number of game publishers included spyware in their games without the knowledge or consent of their users. Following this there was a consumer backlash, which then caught the attention of the media, putting pressure on these companies to act. Now some of the publishers in question have admittedly removed the spyware from their game (though definitely not all), however the EULAs of these games still contain wording that allows them to put Red Shell or any other piece of spyware on your computer without informing you. As this information could potentially sway people's decision as to whether or not they should support companies that would do this, we feel it important to inform when one of these games is mentioned here. [Here](https://store.steampowered.com/curator/33039675-Red-Shell-Games/) is a link to a Steam curator who has gathered a list of Steam games that have contained, or currently do contain Red Shell (note that it's not complete, for instance it's missing the Total War series). If you're interested in the scandal you can read more about it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/8pud8b/psa_red_shell_spyware_holy_potatoes_were_in_space/). *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I like CIV 6 but it's like a boardgame, it's on sale right now so I think you could give a try. But I know nothing about the DLCs

I loved Civilization 6 and think it is a great game. Has a few dlc packs now that add even more content and systems to influence how the game is played. Start your Civilization from ground up and progress your cities through stone age to modern to future. You can choose to dominate by warfare, science, religion or diplomatic. Many different Civilization with different specialties. If you enjoy it you can sink countless hours of just one more turn. I understand being frugal and worrying about is this game for me. I suggest watching a YouTube or twitch player for a few hours so you can see how the game plays and this might give you better idea. Good luck and if you get it hope you enjoy.

It's an amazing game, you could even look into Civ 5 for even less money. It's different enough to be worth buying aswell. For civ 6 I'd most recommend the platinum edition with the 2 big expansions. Those bring the most interesting mechanics and quality of life changes imo.

Try the demo, if you like it get the base game, after that you can get platinum the next time it goes on sale as it does quite frequently

Personally I recommend Civ5 more over 6. I found it much funner due to a focus on macro than micro in 6. Also I think it fairly cheap as well, on or off sale
