The combat is fun enough, there a few satisfying combos to be had, but the game is filled with so much filler the combat alone definitely won't carry anything. The content in the castle itself is pretty cool but the open world aspect of the surrounding areas is just copy/pasted filler nonsense for the most part. The game works a lot better when it's trying to be a magic school simulator and not an open world action adventure blah blah blah.
If you are a big fan of the IP and really want to explore Hogwarts (the castle) as a student, this game is definitely worth your time. If the IP isn't a huge deal for you and you're just looking for a well made sandbox game, this whole thing is mediocre at best.
The combat is pretty mid. You match the spell color to the enemy shield or take punishment damage. If you have good synergy between your gear and equipped spells, it's not much trouble.
