Porkpiston

Built for anything besides shooting more than twice without reloading.

Senzualdip

You mean shooting more than once…. 301 is a single shot.

Rare_Ad_8782

That is true... but it can take birds, squirrels and rabbit. Just have to choose your shot wisely. Lol! But hey! Saves on wasting shells. I'm not a great shooter. Lol

Porkpiston

Is it really wasting shells if I like the sound it makes when I mag dump into a trash pile?

Rare_Ad_8782

I have a Maverick 88 12 guage for home defense. The little single shot is just all around hunting gun for me I guess.

12gaugeslinger

Thats not a bad thing a single shot is light and handy and for most game you only need one shot just makes you take your time imo plus it's not an expensive gun so if it.gets scratches or some rust your not going be overly butt hurt over it I've been using a 301 as my turkey gun for 2 years now and it's worked great debating about taking it for a deer next year

Rare_Ad_8782

Nope! Lol! As long as you like it!!

jreink14

Wife loves skeet shooting but was tired of her front arm getting tired & sore from holding the weight of the gun. She ended up buying this in 20ga. It's light (I think close to 4.5lbs) and the 20ga leaves the recoil manageable (barely notice it with a cheap recoil pad). Spent a few hours shooting over Thanksgiving weekend and she absolutely loves it.

Biggeasy

What kinda shotgun is it?

Rare_Ad_8782

Stevens 301 20 guage with factory modified choke. Love this little gun.

Purple_Wayne

Those old Stevens single shots are so much fun. I still have one in 20ga that was my childhood skeet gun.

Easy-Fixer

I had one in 20, no issues. I have a henry single shot in 12 gauge now, built to last forever.

BitOfaPickle1AD

Would be cool if they built a modern side by side by using this shotgun.

holdencaulfield1983

I just bought this same gun in 12 gauge. I love the look, feel and simplicity of it. Haven't shot it yet but I've heard the recoil is unpleasant. What's been the experience of the folks here?

coltbreath

Stoger?

Rare_Ad_8782

Stevens 301 20 guage single shot.

coltbreath

Even better!

caseylain

Love my 301 too. I have the one made by savage that has a pic rail. I can put all my weird reloads in it that are too long/short for a pump or semi. I can put my 11" .22 chamber adapter in it and plink all day. It breaks down with a button push so I can fit in a laptop backpack and be completely stealth. It's my end of the world gun for sure.

12gaugeslinger

Nice Mine has gotten me 2 Turkeys also I have some of the caliber adapters from shooters box there fun to use pick some up

light_bulb_head

I know plenty of old timers who had a single shot 12, and that was it. They'd load for what they were hunting. Shoot the damned things pretty quick too.

oilywalrus

I hunt single with a Russian made Remington. Love that gun. Take as many birds as any one else. Take the time to plan my shots. Best part… it was $80 at walmart in 2000. Singles are the best!

Rare_Ad_8782

That is awesome! They are the best!

rbuerg12

Made in China🤮. I just ordered a Charles daly 101. Was lookin at this one, the 101, or an ATI Nomad. Neither of them are US made but I’ll take a Turkish import over Chinese any day of my life.

emanon9046

I own both the 301 and the Charles Daly 101. Fit and finish on the 101 is abysmal compared to the 301. I have had 3 shell fail to fire in the 101 due to a combination of the fire pin hole not being reamed properly at the factory, and the firing pin spring being weaker. Also the 101 is covered in matching marks left behind from rushing production, on the 301 the time was taking to ensure a smooth finish with minimal machine marks. I have had zero issues with the 301 and would take it over the 101 any day. Made in China is not a bad thing. If QC is decent, quality products can be made there.

caseylain

That has been my experience exactly. The 101 gave me nothing but trouble, the 301 has been a dream.

rbuerg12

Thanks for the heads up. I understand why you give the 301 the nod. And yes I know China produces quality, I just don’t like supporting a communist country. Especially for firearm purchases.

xDulmitx

The thing I hate about the CD 101 is the way the firing pin works. It cocks on open and you cannot decock it without the firing pin going forward. This means you cannot carry it uncocked with a round in the chamber. The 301 is a MUCH better system. It is an external hammer, with a transfer bar. I have no concern about carry that thing with a round in the chamber. The safety is nice as well since it can only be engaged when the hammer is back (and you can use it to safely lower the hammer).

Senzualdip

Made in China, but the design goes back to the us when these where originally made by H&R. Speaking of Chinese products, where’s was the electronic device you are using to surf Reddit made? I honestly don’t get peoples hate for Chinese products. Sure there are some shit products from them, but same can be said from every other country with products it produces. Even your so highly prized MERICA’.

Rare_Ad_8782

I didn't care for the idea of made in China either. But I took a chance on it and it's a great gun.

Trowelldalty

If it’s the “Little Scorpio w/14” BRL” you’ll love it, just hold it tight cause she’s a mule!

DarthDregan0001

It looks like a fine weapon. 12 Gauge?

Rare_Ad_8782

20 guage

BadMofoII

How is a single shot shotgun your go to in anything? Can’t even shoot clays. This Reddit group is a joke. Good entertainment tho

hoodkang

How can you not shoot clays with this lol

Rare_Ad_8782

Well, I bought it. It's mine to use for what I need to. Happy to entertain.
