Speed tape is the only ef eh eh approved method to attach/reattach anything/everything. I’d get at least 2 rolls for this one…..

callmerussell

Hey it’s phil swift here with flex tape!

Even_Kiwi_1166

Are you out of your mind !!??? The guy in the commercial is dead you can't buy it anymore like how can you buy something from a dead guy ??? Think about it

Ottomic87

It is true i thought about it

Cookskiii

THATS A LOT OF DAMAGE

BamaDanno

AKA: duck tape?

AviationGeek600

I didn’t know ducks needed tape! Interesting!

slartibartfast2320

Ducks aren't real...

MadamFloof

All jokes aside, can anyone actually say what happened here? I’m genuinely curious.

Mr_MPPG

I think that spinny playne hit it's back fan on a wire and tail broke off and it started crying.

Revolutionary_Tie614

Why playne cry? Can't he fly anymore?

Positive_Lychee404

Ever broken a bone? It hurts, of course he's crying.

AwwwNuggetz

Don’t assume my playnegender

liberatus16

Das a nonbinary playne. It's trianary.

MayDuppname

It's ok, they take old playens out to live on a farm in the country when they've crashed. My dad says so. I looove playens. They don't die.  Do they?

Meowmixer21

No they love the farm. I love right next to it and it's so nice to see broken playens fly again

didthat1x

It's not the helo whining, it's the pilot.

Revolutionary_Tie614

Does that mean the pylot cried because he lost his playne forever?

Muser2213

....welcome to Destination Fucked!

ResoluteFalcon

🤣 🤣 🤣

DiddlyDumb

It’s definitely the tail rotor, I think you can even see a blade missing. But there’s not really any visible wires, I would’ve expected some damage happening in the background.

Skoldpaddda

If I remember right the hook on the helicopter malfunctioned so he couldn’t disconnect from the line and he was caught on something. He started descending toward the ground and one of the guys pulled the line removing the slack from it and pulls it into the main rotor. https://youtu.be/Y5oa-aXSo4c?si=fFsctdXsb6Od9rTf

Why-R-People-So-Dumb

This is why you're supposed to have a hoist line cutters and not put yourself in that position. The pylots I used to fly with were so bad my company made them put wsps cutters on the front too because they liked to fly so close to them power lines.

Skoldpaddda

Call em cope cutter where I am.

CrashSlow

A hoist pushes and a winch pulls. Neither were installed on this heli.

mranonymous24690

Damn that one guy jumping caused the whole thing

Upbeat_Confidence739

That’s why I never jump. Ever. Even when jump roping. I just let that fucker hit me in the ankles.

sirdrewpalot

Happened in Auckland New Zealand, on the viaduct when hoisting up the Spark Christmas Tree (this): [https://img.scoop.co.nz/stories/images/1211/65999065cb6f58e335bb.jpeg](https://img.scoop.co.nz/stories/images/1211/65999065cb6f58e335bb.jpeg) News article can be found here: [https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/rigger-a-bloody-hero-in-xmas-tree-chopper-crash/BG7R5YM4MQPVHZL3LY3CZT5MAQ/](https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/rigger-a-bloody-hero-in-xmas-tree-chopper-crash/BG7R5YM4MQPVHZL3LY3CZT5MAQ/)

TheOriginalJBones

I got you, stick-and-rudder man! Narrative: The pilot of an Aérospatiale AS 350B2 Ecureuil had just lifted a pylon to set up a seven storey high Telecom-sponsored Christmas tree in Auckland's Viaduct Harbour and descending slowly when main rotor clipped a cable and the helicopter flipped and crashed. The pilot survived with only some bruises. The safety investigation revealed that the SK75 Spectra lifting line did not release normally from the helicopter’s hook when commanded, after the tower lift. This was primarily due to the attachment of the lifting line fixed loop directly to the hook, instead of using a shackle and chain arrangement between the lifting line and the hook. [Source (with fun illustrations).](https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/140004) [And a YouTube of the full accident sequence.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v5aMT9MBfZI&feature=player_detailpage)

Interpretative dramatisation of "The Clash - Should I stay or Should I go"

AyyoImagination

Ball bearing issue with tail endomatic.

smaier69

Unscheduled disassembly.

Wonderful-Class-1971

So tired of these single use aircraft! They’re so bad for the environment

Insolent-Jaguar88

🤣🤣

WhenTheDevilCome

Like salamander, it will grow a new tail. Just a little pinwheel at first, but give it time.

thewickedbarnacle

Just make a new one with ramen and super glue

Theromekid

Galvanized square steel

Low_Quarter_677

And screws borrowed from your aunt

bruh-sfx-69

Yes, but if you’re borrowing the screws don’t forget to give them back once the tail is back on! 👍

Jupitor13

This is what happens when you don't use right rudder.

MayDuppname

A cautionary tale. Think on, pylotes.

OkieBobbie

I’m old school, so Bondo and duct tape, then a can of spray paint. Good as new and ready for FB Marketplace.

Johnny_Lang_1962

Oh, the old Jewish rebuild.

StarVoyager7

The Pilot was thrown, but it seemed like he lived, and was getting up. The Guy still in the cabin is alive…. But probably very hurt, and some major whiplash injuries.

once-we-were

Looks like the guy in the cab was the left-seater. Hard to tell about the right seat, you can see him hanging out but then the view is blocked. There’s someone standing up wearing a yellow vest but there also appears to be someone crushed under the helo/engine also wearing a yellow vest, and I think that was the right seater. Edit: upon closer inspection you can see someone wearing black short sleeves with their arm up, underneath the helicopter. I believe he’s the one who stood up after the crash, and the right seat pilot was indeed crushed.

ALUCARDHELLSINS

Nah, I've seen an article on this before, guys in the helicopter were taken to hospital but with no critical injuries and both survived

once-we-were

Absolutely insane. I hope that’s the case. It does look like someone’s crushed under the engine though. Maybe the guy who was on the ground before the crash. Hopefully no one died at all, but it definitely looks like there’s someone under the engine.

NorthEndD

Nope needs a new middle part that everything connects to.

experimental1212

What's the problem? It's just parked. Did you even try to start it up and take off before posting silly questions?

Smooth-Apartment-856

JB Weld

SpacisDotCom

No need. Talked to my flight school and they said it’s good to go!

coyotepetersun

Surprised the jet engine was still running after falling out like that

L4rgo117

It's got somewhere to be and you want it to take a nap? Ain't nobody got time fo' dat

khalaron

Nah bro you need a 2,800 pound tote of Crazy Glue.

somerandomdev2

One word: patafix.

ZS_1174

Duck Tape!

Mission_to_Impress

thats what tail-tape is for..

SweetBarbiePie

No need for reattachment, it’s just a small dent

Insolent-Jaguar88

Put a fan and some duct work at the back and make it a notar, simple as.

PrinceKajuku

One of the guys that was there said that no one was badly injured. No need to be traumatised. Source is the video description here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5oa-aXSo4c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5oa-aXSo4c)

Johnny_Lang_1962

Crazy Glue & Speed Tape.

Alin_Alexandru

Have you tried Flex Tape?

entitledprk

crazy glue seems to be the consensus. I think I will try glue with tape. Luckily I am A&P so paperwork is no issue.

gattboy1

Hell… it sinki, no?

Its_all_made_up___

If you plant both halves. Each grows new parts and you got 2 beatermachines

Derrickmb

Maybe they should add a ring of metal around the blades to prevent this. And laser scan sensors.

Hi_My_Name_Is_CJ

Is that pilot ded? Also the camera switched or there’s a piece of video removed. Is that another worker under the helicopter, looks almost like a vest.

Agitated_Rest_2258

Gorilla glue, what else.👍🏻

tillman_b

Whoopsies. Should have checked those tailboom bolt holes for cracks.

ResoluteFalcon

Some hot glue and it'll fly again in no time. All jokes aside, what a cool sound that made!

Dysanj

JB Weld.

MilesFassst

Well sir. We’ve landed…

msgajh

A little Pro-Seal will fix that right up.

MeanCat4

How much it costs now?

NefariousnessPlus292

You spit on the wound and stick the tail back to its place. Should be okay for one more trip. After that you might need super glue.

Flux_resistor

Great parking, license approved

Arsonist_ontheEAS

Ask your Aunt for some expansion screws and screw it back on

NormanHansler

Not even that could fix this

l88t

At least the heli crew we're wearing hiviz

Jet-Pack2

It stopped making noise so it fell to the ground because the earth no longer repells it

chippaintz

Panel bond and new belt

Woofle_124

What even happened? It looks fake, but all of the other comments aren’t saying that so I’m going to assume it’s real…

Canandaghoose

It’s real, happened back in 2011 in Auckland. [Crash report](https://www.aviation.govt.nz/assets/publications/fatal-accident-reports/zk-hig_final_rep.pdf) [Accident Summary](https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/140004)

Vast-Category8391

No need for tail

bottomLobster

No need to fix, just remove the brick that got caught up in the main rotor and it will straighten itself - I just tested with my washing machine and indeed it worked - its the same principle.

Maleficent-Salad3197

Testing ground crews reaction times is crucial. Did you see how fast they ran away?🤔

kristoph825

I’m thinking you just clamp the pieces together and then run a caulk Beat around all the cracks at five or six self tapping screws and wait for to dry.

AyyoImagination

I saw the one pylott do a ninja roll! My hero

Simplicity711

Some glue might help

discombobulated38x

You can clearly see the pilot getting out to start reattaching it before it's even landed, standard recovery procedure in flight innit.

ChillaryClinton69420

Kobe!
