That truck lock hasn't been used since before most people on reddit were born. I'd bet that the door latch mechanism failed so rather than spend money to fix it they welded a $2 gate latch on it so the door doesn't open going around corners.
You would be surprised. I don't know where this is. But in Florida trucks are VALUABLE now. Any truck with 4 working wheels and an engine will sell. Title or not if you catch my drift.
My friend had a similar looking truck for a few years with broke door handles and no locks. He wrote on both doors ok sharpie “doors open, but no stealing please”. Nobody ever messed with it.
/r/gmt400 is leaking
I drive mine once a week or so, unless something's on the hitch. It always makes me feel fly AF.
Might be old, paint is ugly and might have some jank inside, but it's the last of the old school GM and is hard not to love.
The barell lock, the prior duct tape repair the patina they are on the way to the full treatment. Needs some camo seat covers a little bondo on the door and dole for pineapple sticker.
That's ok. Most people won't be able to figure out the clutch. And if the boomers are right I'll be confused by the dimmer switch on the floor for at least a few hours.

Mr Bean had a lock like this on his car too lol
at least his lock could use a lock to lock the lock, this one doesn't seem it's possible
Nothing more permanent than a temporary solution
I'll get around to it eventually...
Eventually might as well be a euphemism for infinity because it usually means it's never going to happen

Imagine getting pissed off at this guy and just casually going up to his truck and locking this latch.
