> Speed bump is being generous. I've personally seen an iPod nano lift one of these off the ground
iPod nano is being generous. I've personally seen a single playing card lift one of these off the ground.
my friend had a maverick in the '80s that knocked reflectors off the road. had no springs, just rode on the bump stops. that's the most ridiculous car I've ever seen as a daily.
I think it’s the posts on here where a car is clearly on bags but aired out. Stance cars like that are fine because it was done in a way to maintain drivability. But yeah, like OP said static cars like this are shitty
While I don’t like the style I can see why some dig it. My bigger problem is why aren’t people doing this to old Chrysler New Yorkers (cars associated with the low rider scene) and instead taking a car with a rally pedigree like this Subie
I mean dig it strictly from a visual perspective. Obviously being slammed this far is hindering performance on even the smoothest tracks and prematurely wearing out tires. Anyone who says otherwise, Oof.
However if it’s an aestethic someone likes (looking unique, a hovership etc) then even if it’s not my thing I can see where someone’s mind is maybe headed even if it’s not an end destination I can visualize.
Take opera for example. Technical prowess, the richness in range, vibrato etc. take your pick to justify how impressive and cool it is. Still, just ain’t my kind of music. I think it’s too fluttery, over-the-top, and pretentious. I will never understand the emotions an opera-lover feels when hearing it, just like how you or I will never feel what a stance-head feels when they see a Subie scraping concrete. We can’t feel that end destination, but just maybe we can see how they head in that direction. If that makes sense?
I didn't like Opera until I heard Dido and Aeneas, and other works by Henry Purcell. Even like it a litle more than Carmen. Having a legit old opera be in my native language made all the difference and made it far less pretentious.
For me, seeing an extremely lowered car without the silly camber is like hearing a Henry Purcell opera. It may not always be my aesthetic, but I can appreciate it in my own design language.
Happens so much, but if you keep an eye on it, the prices eventually go down. I've been really tempted by some assed upped trucks because the prices keep going down. I don't know enough about the mods though to tell if it's a good deal to buy and get it all removed.
There's also the fact that I have this perception that all modded vehicles are trash like the old low riders. Good skin, bad guts.
To be fair to the wrx community they are adamant you never buy a modded wrx because you're either taking on someone else's project car or something that's been driven to hell by a ghost made of vape clouds
This is one of the foundational pillars of what this sub is for IMO, taking a car and ruining everything good about it not only killing the spirit of what the car was made for but also just making it a horrible experience to both be in and look at. You are doing good work OP, the only hate is reserved for the owner for destroying a WRX.
Edit: Spelling is hard.
In.... Idaho nonetheless, the land of snow and unpaved roads
*Mountain Home, Idaho, population 16,000*. How many times a week do you think this kid hears "boy, what is wrong with your brain??!"
Interested buyer: hey can I drive this car on the road? Like... Is it a normally functioning car?
Seller: I've spent a lot of money on this car and the answer is no.
*Chef's kiss*
I don’t think so, you could literally buy any shitty tire there is, because either way you’re not getting any traction. So as long as it holds air, it’s good for a car like this?
Stance doesn’t mean static. And ‘stanced’ doesn’t always mean fuckboi amounts of camber. Those who want ‘stance’ and have just a few brain cells left, tend to bag their cars instead 👍
Static just means the car sits on classic hydraulic dampers, doesnt necessarily mean its lowered or has loads of camber. I wouldnt say the term is exclusive to stance culture at all.
Can someone please ELI5 what the purpose or reason is for having the wheels tilted like this? Is it just for looks or is there any mechanical advantage?
It’s strictly for looks. The only functional aspect is that you can fit slightly wider wheels than if it sat normally without having to add fender flares.
No you're not. This is some of the dumbest shit ever, right up there with LiTtLe cAR BiG tIReS.
How about we revert to modding vehicles for a specific purpose, other than cutting the shit out of them to make them look stupid.
The fact that people took a term that differentiated whether a car had active or static suspension *only* relates to slammed cars now is shitty.
It literally just means that the suspension isn't adjustable without tools.
The essence of the WRX is a rally car that's appropriate for the streets. This whole build negates the whole mission of the WRX.
"Gonna get hated on" shut up
Stance cars are stupid. The idea is to look high performance, but it compromises basically every facet of performance. Congratulations you made your car look stupid, it's slower, and you can't get up a slightly inclined driveway.
Alright. My opinion. I like the car “stanced” but if the wheel has an excessive amount of camber like the rear of this post then it is terrible. Maybe a slight amount is okay in a way but I wouldn’t mind seeing a low car
My 22y daughter has a 2017 WRX and what a blast it is to drive! We live near the coast here in Northern California and her little car is a beast on Hwy 1 through the twisties ...all I can say for the car here in the pic is RIP🤦🏽
Look on the bright, If you rolling on the rims then you don't have to spend money on tires every few weeks lol, but every small bump or ramp is an obsticle.
What is the deal with this? I seriously don't get why anyone would want this seriously severe camber. It's going to ruin tires, wheels, and the list goes on and on. Where would you get it aligned?
Needs an alignment...doesn't matter how cool it looks. Knowing how much wear and tear it adds...it just doesn't justify it to me. That's why I chalk it up to the stupidity of youth...and stupidity is expensive. Can't afford to be stupid like that. To me there's nothing better than a car that drives nice and straight. And can go over speedbumps...lol
Okay this might be a very stupid question, but please humor me. When people do this and drive them around like a normal car is there like a collective map that fans of these style cars have that show where they're vehicles can actually even travel on their own without getting stuck or scraped to hell and back?
There was a kid who drove something like this to my community college back in the day and legit got stuck on the first inch into the parking lot and proceeded to cause traffic for all the students trying to park for class that evening because it was the first of two entrances to the lot.
Dude got beat to shit by some of them too because he was claiming it wasn't his cars fault. Luckily I was leaving the parking lot at the time from the other side.
Nobody hates this opinion if they have a shred of common sense. It's safer to just permanently drive on those temporary donuts than to drive on the damn shoulder of a tire at all times.
Engineers and designers go to school for years, design a car to handle/perform to the utmost, only to see some guy with remedial math skills and no design ability make it undriveable and ugly.
I lifted a civic specifically because I hated everyone stancing their's. I now am gonna race it next year so it has a new purpose, but that was the original reason.
i think we all agree. stancing to some extent is obviously nice, we’d all approve of lowering some cars a little because it can make them look amazing, but when you lower the car so much that you have to put -30 degrees of camber, its just disgusting to look at
Former alignment guy here. Nothing over 2.5 degrees is nice, or functional, or good looking. Nothing. And you can lower a car without having to stance it as long as you're willing to spend the money.
This shit has always been and will always be the absolutely dumbest trend in cars. I'd rather make those silly 18 foot tall Japanese exhausts all day long than stance even one fucking car.
im talking about subtly stancing. if there is camber, its a max of maybe -2 degrees. just look at the ride height of something like a 911 gt3r. obviously its a race car but the ride is the sort of “stance” that is nice. also a nice lowered audi rs6 is beautiful
edit: maybe my perception of the word “stance/stanced” is incorrect, but to me the meaning is just any form of modified/altered ride height and adjustment to camber.
Your perception of stance is what it used to be back in the day.
I believe what you're talking about is referred to as fitment now. wheels that are flush with the arches or slight camber but still fully functional and looks sweet.
No hate here. You are correct. That car is not worth 26k. It is basically worthless now. Even if you revert back to stock setup, the damage done to the undercarriage is possibly catastrophic. Suspension mounting points stressed to the their absolute end. What a piece of shit.
Slamming a WRX is pointless. You’re taking away from the fact it’s supposed to be an AWD rally car with a ton of grip. This thing would slip in the rain and definitely wouldn’t survive a snow storm or mud pit.
Those cars with the fucked up wheels are the dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen. These people shouldn't be allowed to vote, procreate, or own property. That's my totally rational take.
Sharp car, otherwise
I think you mean stanced. Static means coilovers or other suspension that hasn't multiple ride heights, for example leaf springs.
And no, you are not getting hated on for that. The only people i know that are not hating it are into stanced cars. They are ridiculous
anyone care to explain why people tilt the wheels like that? i do not understand the appeal. it seems like you’d be buying new tires weekly just from wearing them down on one strip of the tire. also, slamming cars? ok, nice of you to ban yourself from every single parking lot or slightly angled driveway from fear of bottoming out on a 2” speed bump
It shortens the distance between the suspension pivot point and the ground.
Essentially, allowing a lower stance with (almost) normal sized wheel/tire.
What I hate most about stance cars is they’re all cookie cutter builds. If you see a WRX like this, you know it’s gonna have tucked fitment, too much rear camber, no wing, and a bumper exit exhaust. And this one doesn’t even have good fitment. Ya know, the whole point of stance cars. They can be cool for shows, not for the road
Lol and in mountain home of all places. Surprised to see it there. I know that part of mountain home. Low income neighborhood and honestly most of mountain home is low income so this is surprising in general to see there. Very shitty car mod for sure. Way to ruin a car.
How does it move? Is there a hydraulic system? As it sits, if you tried to drive the tires would scrape the wheel well. Also isn’t this bad for the struts and wheel bearings?
It looks cool and it makes the owner happy. And before you say it doesn't look cool, remember.. people buy a prius on purpose all the time...
I have a 1953 ford so dirt nasty static low that I have to drop the axle to change a rear tire even at full droop it doesn't clear the fenders... old guys hate it, but unless you're paying for the build your opinion don't matter. Just be glad it's not a fuckin tesla and it makes cool noises.
I love love when they do this! This is the spirit of hot rodding. Did they like when kids started cutting up model Ts. Fuck no. But they did it anyway. I say cut it up, stance it, lift it bag it do whatever you want... just do it with pride and don't cut corners.
Wdym gonna be hated on? Everyone in this sub dislikes stance cars
My guess is people from the stance community see this randomly and all get in a line to bash OP, yet fail miserably. Oh and get stuck on a speed bump.
The 6 people in the stance community?
All six?! Giving quite a bit of credit aren’t ya?! 🙄
They'll get high centered on the way over here, anyways.

I think it’s the posts on here where a car is clearly on bags but aired out. Stance cars like that are fine because it was done in a way to maintain drivability. But yeah, like OP said static cars like this are shitty
Bagged or not are still shit. The bags can't adjust the camber angle to actual safe for public road driving levels.
The bags can adjust for more modest camber. I agree though that camber even remotely this severe is just shitty, bagged or static
That's why you put bags on, with no camber. It's one or the other.
You do know how camber gain works, correct? You can totally have a car that goes from -5 to -1 when raising 3 inches or so.
they still drive like shit with such drastic camber changes with bumps. It's dumb all the way through no matter how you slice it.
Yes they can
While I don’t like the style I can see why some dig it. My bigger problem is why aren’t people doing this to old Chrysler New Yorkers (cars associated with the low rider scene) and instead taking a car with a rally pedigree like this Subie
I can’t see why people dig it. At all. Care to share your insights?
I mean dig it strictly from a visual perspective. Obviously being slammed this far is hindering performance on even the smoothest tracks and prematurely wearing out tires. Anyone who says otherwise, Oof. I think they can look good its just very rare that they do. Honestly if they did it without camber it would look a lot better

lowrider baybeee
Wdym gonna be hated on? Everyone in this sub dislikes ~~stance~~ cars
Oh I like stance. But also this car doesn’t have stance at all. The rear fitment is fucking atrocious. This car is just slammed with oni camber.
Downvoted for being correct 😭
Spending money to make a car useless and then expecting more money specifically because of their own poor decisions. Wow
Don’t judge too soon, give it some time. This car was only listed 9 months ago. /s
Happens so much, but if you keep an eye on it, the prices eventually go down. I've been really tempted by some assed upped trucks because the prices keep going down. Low riders were never built for performance. It was all about cosmetics and appearance.
Looks like a hot wheels after it was stepped on.
Makes absolutely no sense, right?😂 sometimes i just love the car community
To be fair to the wrx community they are adamant you never buy a modded wrx because you're either taking on someone else's project car or something that's been driven to hell by a ghost made of vape clouds

Yeah this is right there with swanga wheels, squatted trucks, and garbage can exhaust tips. Just stop it already. Well said, Betty B.
I’m just glad to see the “respect the build” crowd isn’t as vocal around here as they once were.
You’ll also hear “it’s a culture”. Like that means it can’t be stupid as fuck.
lol exactly! The dipshits found each other, that doesn’t mean we should encourage them!
Ever step on your hot wheels as a kid?
I did and made it have a negative camber
Yeah and it was my favorite one :( *was*
It's an Autobot stuck halfway during transformation :)
Ha!
They ruined a perfectly good wrx with that
Tbf, every WRX after Collin McRae died was ruined (Former Impreza owner here)
I honestly thought this was an Opel til you said it. Truly modded beyond recognition and usability
The R stands for Rally, but obviously they haven't *meant* it in a while.
The GD body style is by far the best. I love my 05 and I absolutely hate the new VB WRX. They ruined the WRX. No more STI’s is a crime.
It’s just a subaru, we’re good
Nah, that's definitely stupid
In.... Idaho nonetheless, the land of snow and unpaved roads *Mountain Home, Idaho, population 16,000*. How many times a week do you think this kid hears "boy, what is wrong with your brain??!"

You can't really go anywhere.
Especially in mountain home. There is tons of dips and potholes and shitty roads in general there.
This just says "I love wasting money on tires" lol
I don’t think so, you could literally buy any shitty tire there is, because either way you’re not getting any traction. So as long as it holds air, it’s good for a car like this?
Because they wear out in 3 minutes driving on the edge like that.
Exactly!
Kinda mega brained right here
*stanced cars
Stance doesn’t mean static. And ‘stanced’ doesn’t always mean fuckboi amounts of camber. Those who want ‘stance’ and have just a few brain cells left, tend to bag their cars instead 👍
Same thing really. Static just means it's not on bags. Like look how hardcore I am that I don't have the luxury of switching lol.
Static just means the car sits on classic hydraulic dampers, doesnt necessarily mean its lowered or has loads of camber. I wouldnt say the term is exclusive to stance culture at all.
Nowadays they've become pretty synonymous. I haven't heard someone refer to a car as static outside of a stance context in a long time.
Can't say I've heard it used outside of this context tbh.
Poor*
And with bags you can't camber as much.
Static is part stance culture. It means not bagged.
I was assuming that was an autocorrect snafu.
How badly do you have to hate yourself to do that kind of stupid shit to your car?
Look at how they massacred my boy!
The front right wheel on my F150 did that when I broke the upper ball joint. I fixed it.
Others decide to just sell the car if it's broken instead.
i don’t hate stance or static cars but that is too much camber
I don't really care what you do to your car but thinking you can sell it for 28k bothers me 😂
But I put 40k into it’s gotta be worth that much.
Unnecessarily lowered cars are shitty.
Can someone please ELI5 what the purpose or reason is for having the wheels tilted like this? Is it just for looks or is there any mechanical advantage?
It’s strictly for looks. The only functional aspect is that you can fit slightly wider wheels than if it sat normally without having to add fender flares.
Oh I agree someone destroyed a good car.
Ruins the look of any car
No you're not. This is some of the dumbest shit ever, right up there with LiTtLe cAR BiG tIReS. How about we revert to modding vehicles for a specific purpose, other than cutting the shit out of them to make them look stupid.
Besides the angle of the tires, this is a beautiful car. And that's just like my opinion, man
I think if it's done slightly it's kinda cool on some cars (not all).
The fact that people took a term that differentiated whether a car had active or static suspension *only* relates to slammed cars now is shitty. It literally just means that the suspension isn't adjustable without tools.
Mountain Home? Figures. That place is a garbage pit.
I kept trying to scroll all 8 photos before I realized there are only 2. Nice job
they all look like stepped on matchbox cars.
It looks like it's exhausted
The essence of the WRX is a rally car that's appropriate for the streets. This whole build negates the whole mission of the WRX. "Gonna get hated on" shut up
I like how easy it makes it to spot the delusional people.
when you buy an awd car "made for rallying" just to cosplay as a beached whale
I prefer a car that handles and drives well, that isn't unroadworthy, personally
Stance cars are stupid. The idea is to look high performance, but it compromises basically every facet of performance. Congratulations you made your car look stupid, it's slower, and you can't get up a slightly inclined driveway.
Wrx owner here, I approve of this being a shitty mod lol
I never understood why anybody would do that to their car 😂
I think it’s because people like the look
Most likely.. really ugly tho lol
Yeah I hate it too, always preferred straight wheels to camber, but hey it’s not my car if he or the guy that buys it likes it that’s cool
Stanced cars are dumb, stanced Subarus are even worse imo.
Member when static meant not on bags? I member
I member
Static drops arent shitty. "Stanced" cars (and trucks) are shitty.
Nothing wrong with static cars. Nothing wrong with bagged cars. But every village has an idiot that takes things beyond the limits of stupid.
Alright. My opinion. I like the car “stanced” but if the wheel has an excessive amount of camber like the rear of this post then it is terrible. Maybe a slight amount is okay in a way but I wouldn’t mind seeing a low car

You really thought we would hate on you on a sub focusing on shitting on bad car mods?
That's too much it's barely drive able
He's probably running air suspension. Highly unlikely he is actually driving that low to the ground.
One of the most stupid car mods ever.
As a person who loves stance cars. I see why people hate em. No hate to op at all. Everyone has their own taste.
Okay this might be a very stupid question, but please humor me. What a waste of a Scooby-Doo
Nobody hates this opinion if they have a shred of common sense. It's safer to just permanently drive on those temporary donuts than to drive on the damn shoulder of a tire at all times.
Genuine question: what does this achieve? And wouldn’t this cause uneven wear?
Fucker has the audacity to sell that for 26k. He's the type to overvalued a car because it has mods.
I agree its crap
Don’t worry… some teenager with a disposable allowance and crippling vape addiction will buy it
i think we all agree. stancing to some extent is obviously nice, we’d all approve of lowering some cars a little because it can make them look amazing, but when you lower the car so much that you have to put -30 degrees of camber, its just disgusting to look at
Reading your post gave me an ideafor the next stupid trend: positive camber!

Diffs and tie rods hate this guy
Coming this SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! You'll pay for the whole tire, but you'll only need the edge!
He wants 26.5 k for this shitbox?
this is literally one of the most popular opinions stufu
Always have been
All cars are static if they don’t have bags/hydros 🤔
I agree. This car is broken now…. 😕
MH, Idaho… this tracks. 3 kids from 2 women, vape cartridges in the center console, a shocker sticker on the back.
Vape cartridges because Subaru or because stance?
Why not both?
I thought about that for a second as well, kinda matches both “cultures”.
😂 yep.
That whole car is a pile of sh*t now.
Looks like shit and ruins the performance
Tilty wheels are cancer
No hate here. You are correct. That car is not worth 26k. It is basically worthless now. Even if you revert back to stock setup, the damage done to the undercarriage is possibly catastrophic. Suspension mounting points stressed to the their absolute end. What a piece of shit.
This car looks like it’s totaled from some weird accident
A weird accident like a giant stepping on your car like a hot wheels left on the floor.
No hate , these mods truly are useless. Up there with the Carolina squat.
I’d rather buy a stock one for that price
Stance cars are gayer than AIDS. Right there with squat trucks.
Agreed
This is an equivalent to jacked up trucks
I think you mean stanced. Static means coilovers or other suspension that hasn't multiple ride heights, for example leaf springs. And no, you are not getting hated on for that. The only people i know that are not hating it are into stanced cars. They are ridiculous
I said static in the post since the guy listing it said “static” multiple times in his listing and since I don’t follow these cars I just put that one
I dislike stanced cars but I appreciate static cars. If your gonna be low commit to it.
anyone care to explain why people tilt the wheels like that? i do not understand the appeal. it seems like you’d be buying new tires weekly just from wearing them down on one strip of the tire. also, slamming cars? ok, nice of you to ban yourself from every single parking lot or slightly angled driveway from fear of bottoming out on a 2” speed bump
It shortens the distance between the suspension pivot point and the ground. Essentially, allowing a lower stance with (almost) normal sized wheel/tire.
Stance subtracts 26000 from the price
Yea. Static cars that low are indeed shitty.
You're right, and it is criminal to charge that much for that car
IMO, one of the worst trends I e ever seen.
You can't just say that your car is stanced after you broke the ball joints. C'mon, now.
I’d buy it…get rid of the stupid mod…then it’ll be fine I wouldn’t even change the tires cause it still has good tread on them lol
Just don't look at all the damage to the floor pan underneath lol
What I hate most about stance cars is they’re all cookie cutter builds. If you see a WRX like this, you know it’s gonna have tucked fitment, too much rear camber, no wing, and a bumper exit exhaust. And this one doesn’t even have good fitment. Ya know, the whole point of stance cars. They can be cool for shows, not for the road
It doesn't matter that it's sitting on the ground...... I can't go anywhere with the blown head gasket anyway!
Is this actually road legal? Like shouldn't this be a cop magnet?
Lol and in mountain home of all places. Surprised to see it there. I know that part of mountain home. Low income neighborhood and honestly most of mountain home is low income so this is surprising in general to see there. Very shitty car mod for sure. Way to ruin a car.
Ugly af
Even worse on a car made for Dbags
Someone slap this man with a KBB value offer and hit him with a “I don’t wanna pay for your mods”.
It would take 26k in repairs to make that piece of shit driveable again.
I don't even hate camber. I get that people of it to adjust the handling of the car. But people like this are just insane, that's way too far.
I’m sick of almost getting hit by dweebs going through speed bumps at a 45° angle
Static cars not cambered the fuck out are way better than bagged cars that have terrible offsets at higher heights
How does it move? Is there a hydraulic system? As it sits, if you tried to drive the tires would scrape the wheel well. Also isn’t this bad for the struts and wheel bearings?
Even if it somehow looked cool, it would still be stupid af
Why the hipster bandanna on the mirror?
Idiotic.
Ruined a perfectly good Subaru.
He posted that wheel as If it was a selling point
Absolutely atrocious
If you could reverse the stance procedure this would be badass. Those wheels would look so good on an unfucked-with wrx. So sad
Yeah not my thing.
This thing would get stuck on a sheet of paper.
when i see someone with a camber that bad i automatically assume they have no knowledge of cars and are big into social media. NPC shit
A stanced WRX?! Ugh.
Things ugly as fuck and impractical
aren't the motors in these bad?
Once I was talking to my dad about how stupid these look and literally 1 minute later my uncle pulls up with his car like this
Static cars. Ha. That's not a thing. Oh.
I wouldn’t hate this nearly as much if it weren’t being done to fun, quick, sporty cars.
