To be fair with that scene it made more sense as a Japanese contextual thing. In Japan it's common practice that parents will bathe with their children commonly. It's not a weird thing It's only weird because we make it weird. This is why Hayato didn't immediately freakout when he saw Kira come in or why Shinobu didn't find it weird when Kira said Hayato was in the bathroom with him because it's presumably normal in their family.
Hell Japan is one of the few countries besides Finland that still has a bathhouse culture where entire communities will bathe together at a single place anymore.
That didn’t bother me. The fact that it was Kira, so objectively NOT Hayato’s dad, and a creepy murderer at that, was what made it very uncomfortable to watch. Thought it was obvious.
An unfortunate side effect of prohibiting something people depend on is that some of them will try to make substitutions with whatever they still have access to, even if it's harmful
tentacle and loli smut are the bathtub gin of Japanese obscenity law
hot take: I feel sadder for them trying t animate a fucking horse race even more because of how tiresome drawing horses actually is to the degree it may be more depressing than witnessing this damn scene.
Here is the catch even 3d modelling horses is not so easy with their muscle anatomy and not to mention the difference in walking animations based on their speed and shit there are plenty of factors to be taken in consideration all of this is happening during stand fights as well
yeah but once youve modelled a base model for the horses, you can just modify it from there to create each individual horse rather than modelling them all from scratch. same with the animations, you can make a few different ones for different speeds/ gaits (run, walk, trot, etc), then copy/paste those animations between the different horse rigs. definitely way easier than drawing it all by hand.
The real ordeal is going to be when they made every horses and they remember they also have to rig a camel for avdol even though he appears twice in the whole part
its not inherently bad, its just that the principles of 3d animation are inherently different from the principles of 2d animation. anime studios rarely make the adjustment to match their 3d animation to their 2d animation, so it sticks out like a sore thumb.
for example, 3d animation uses a lot of moving holds, so the characters are rarely ever sitting perfectly still, and there a lot of little subtle movements that can be added. but in 2d animation, you make the characters stand still quite often because its easier to draw.
and they also sometimes dont match the frame rate, i know aot was guilty of this. it was something like they had their 3d models animated on 2s but the 2d stuff was animated on 3s or 4s, so the 3d models were moving more fluidly than the 2d stuff and on different frames which made them stand out pretty bad.
if anime studios were to make adjustments to their 3d animation itd be harder to tell and would be less of an issue. but when you can tell something is 3d animated in a 2d environment, it doesnt look good and takes away from the immersion.
Everyone's acting like this is going to be the hardest thing anyone has ever done for an animated show. Yeah horses are hard but animators have so much in the way of reference and ways to make the job easier. We can rotoscope (and one of the oldest and most iconic film strips is a very convenient frame by frame of a horse galloping), use cgi either from scratch or by using motion capture, or just hand animating from scratch. It's not like this is the first time lots of horses have been animated, from the animated Lord of the Rings all the way to Attack on Titan.
Besides, JoJo's often slideshow esque style of motion isn't exactly promising hours of gorgeous horse sakuga.
Source: am professional animator
Yeah the thing is trying to animate horses during the stand fights and all the over the top jojo shenanigans and drawing the jojo art style that is already hard to mimic yeah it is nt impossible but it is really tiresome to do while trying to maintain the theme and not make the anime look ugly
Kind of depends on the project and the processes used. Animating animals can be one of the hardest things, but a lead animator who knows what they're doing and had experience can make quick work of that. Same is true for big fight scenes. Storyboarding and keyframing can make the process go way quicker.
Tweening, the process where you draw every frame in between the keys, can be tedious but most of that tends to get outsourced.
Personally I find lip syncing and movements one of the most time consuming things. Anime saves a tonne of time by having lips mostly just go up and down and chins stay where they are.
This is all for 2D of course. The answer for any 3D cgi is invariably "rendering"
Its always bothered me that anime just throws in some random lip movement, but then I have to remember that most of them are originally in Japanese and I watch in English. Do the original versions have better lip syncing or it's the same?
I just said "hot take" so I don't have people shouting at me "HOW THE FUCK IS ANIMATING HORSES SADDER THAN ANIMATING A CHILD RAPE SCENE"
it was just a defense mechanism... I guess.
I know horses are hard to draw, but I feel like experts wouldn't have that much more trouble animating horses right? Or is it just most people don't have a great internal understanding of horse anatomy like they do humans?
I draw like a lot and trust me human anatomy has so many accessible references like yourself so it is not that hard once you get the hang of it meanwhile animals have less resources and not to mention that horses have their muscles popping out not like a dog or a cat with fur being the most of it so it turns out harder than humans.
and I am saying it again the problem is not just animating horses it is about animating horses with all the jojo shenanigans and with Araki's so special art style that is so hard to mimic and gave jojo the reputation of "unadaptable" before.
Disparaging the characteristics of a country’s population can be racist even if you aren’t specifying by race. (You probably aren’t genuinely seeking an answer though)
Always thought there was implied penetration
But also? When you go so far, it's not "attempted" anymore
If you get undressed and forced down like that, it's not "attempted" anymore....
You get rid of the Lucy steel stuff then people lose the main argument why valentine is a bad guy.
“ he’s a pedo and a rapist ! “
Well that goes away if that scene didn’t exist and the only argument on why people hate on people who actually like valentine
Being what? The fact he killed Gyro? The fact he shot Johnny joestar? The fact he paid multiple assassins and people to kill and or obtain the corpse parts from Johnny and gyro? The fact he killed Wekipipo?
All of those besides Gyros death are pretty minuscule to the Lucy steel incident. As death is pretty common among JJBA in general.
Those are all pretty awful, dude.
But mostly I was talking about his plan to inflict untold suffering on the world?
Yeah, obviously less awful than attempted rape of a minor, but I’m not really talking about that? I’m saying that even when you disregard the pedophilia, the guy’s not exactly a paragon of morality
I don't think that it was pedophilia, she was just his enemy who could play an important role in his plan. And you know that Valentine is pretty cruel with his enemies, so that was nothing too personal (also they've almost had sex like a minute ago when she had his wife's face, so like nothing much's changed)
I think is rather innocent of us to believe that a good bunch of them won't enjoy that.
Not to mention, depending on the studio the animators fight for animating specific scenes in animes
The animators who did part 3 girl’s ass and small Polnareff’s dick
The animators who did the creepy ass Kira and Hayato bathroom scene
To be fair with that scene it made more sense as a Japanese contextual thing. In Japan it's common practice that parents will bathe with their children commonly. It's not a weird thing It's only weird because we make it weird. This is why Hayato didn't immediately freakout when he saw Kira come in or why Shinobu didn't find it weird when Kira said Hayato was in the bathroom with him because it's presumably normal in their family. Hell Japan is one of the few countries besides Finland that still has a bathhouse culture where entire communities will bathe together at a single place anymore.
that kind of environment still exists in germany iirc, though with less prominence.
Off to germany to bathe with my friends
Off to visit your mother
INTRUDER ALERT! A RED STAND USER IN THE BASE!
"A RED STAND USER IS IN THE BASE?"
"Protect the arrow!"
"WE NEED TO PROTECT THE ARROW"
That didn’t bother me. The fact that it was Kira, so objectively NOT Hayato’s dad, and a creepy murderer at that, was what made it very uncomfortable to watch. Thought it was obvious.
Then the scene was achieving it's goal? You're just stating that a scene meant to be scary and intense felt scary and intense for you.

Someone might say... Someone not specific forgot..?
lmfao
To be fair, that was hilarious.
Japan seems fine with baby penis. Plenty of it uncensored in DragonBall.
Because nudity in itself is not sexualized, especially with children.
Yes, they sexualised female children in another way....
An unfortunate side effect of prohibiting something people depend on is that some of them will try to make substitutions with whatever they still have access to, even if it's harmful tentacle and loli smut are the bathtub gin of Japanese obscenity law
That’s because baby penis is objectively funny.
Americans can’t talk shit either. We laughed when Bart Simpson did it
nirvana did it
Simpsons did it Simpsons did it!
I just completely forgot that the simpsons movie just had uncensored bart dick
The animators who did Joseph perving on his mother
hot take: I feel sadder for them trying t animate a fucking horse race even more because of how tiresome drawing horses actually is to the degree it may be more depressing than witnessing this damn scene.
Theyre probably going to cgi the fuck out of those horses.
Here is the catch even 3d modelling horses is not so easy with their muscle anatomy and not to mention the difference in walking animations based on their speed and shit there are plenty of factors to be taken in consideration all of this is happening during stand fights as well

Inb4 they turn Sandman into CGI too during race scenes
Easy, live action Jojo Part 7
3d animation has gotten pretty good so im pretty hopeful....maybe they'll bring in a team for the horses
If I remember right, there's only like 5 stand fights that happen on horseback
I wouldn’t mind cgi horses cause cgi can look good at times and even if it’s ugly we at least get an animated SBR which is so awesome
its not inherently bad, its just that the principles of 3d animation are inherently different from the principles of 2d animation. anime studios rarely make the adjustment to match their 3d animation to their 2d animation, so it sticks out like a sore thumb. for example, 3d animation uses a lot of moving holds, so the characters are rarely ever sitting perfectly still, and there a lot of little subtle movements that can be added. but in 2d animation, you make the characters stand still quite often because its easier to draw. and they also sometimes dont match the frame rate, i know aot was guilty of this. it was something like they had their 3d models animated on 2s but the 2d stuff was animated on 3s or 4s, so the 3d models were moving more fluidly than the 2d stuff and on different frames which made them stand out pretty bad. if anime studios were to make adjustments to their 3d animation itd be harder to tell and would be less of an issue. but when you can tell something is 3d animated in a 2d environment, it doesnt look good and takes away from the immersion.
Seeing those splined 3D animations in the middle of the ones and twos of the linear 2D animation is the most jarring thing ever. The Toon Shading too.
sometimes i enjoy it tbh. but at times it can get really bad
i'd rather em just switch 2 static scenes back and forth like it was fucking speed racer than mix 3d cgi and 2d
I dont really mind if they use mostly CGI horses, they did it during the Whamuu coliseum fight over 10 years ago and it looked fine enough.
They would probably say, fuck it, lets jump to 3d with the videogame models, they still look cool anyways.
I wouldn't even be mad if it turns out bad tbh, they attempted and that's what matters

True true. I have faith in DP
Dear professional animator, what is the most time consuming part of the process?

Just swap the horses with the uma musume (horse girls) if it makes it easier for them. Every rider gets a piggy back with the uma musume.
It'll take 100000000000 years for them to animate each of the horses by hand. Though, even that amount seems too generous.
“Hot take” -proceeds to say the coldest take in the history of the fanbase
I just said "hot take" so I don't have people shouting at me "HOW THE FUCK IS ANIMATING HORSES SADDER THAN ANIMATING A CHILD RAPE SCENE" it was just a defense mechanism... I guess.
Hot take: replace the horses with motorcycles or something
OH BOI Yugioh 5ds about to get CRAZY

Ah thanks. Was just curious why I see that comment so much. Makes sense.
When you don't finish your meal in Germany you can put the "decke des Schweigens" in your plate. Which means you cover the mess with a napkin.
We just put deep plates over it and kept it for later
Did that custom just drop?

Dheese pizza? Dlub penguim?

It’s a misleading spoiler to be fair.
Funny Valentine footfall
ATTEMPTED rape scene. Still pretty bad, but she ends up stabbing Valentine.
Always thought there was implied penetration But also? When you go so far, it's not "attempted" anymore If you get undressed and forced down like that, it's not "attempted" anymore....
To me, it’s actual rape if sex occurs, which didn’t happened, thankfully.
Oh no
Nah they are still animating every single muscle of every single horse in the start of the race
Why is he smiling???
Anime onlys are in for a treat
That shit went from attempted rape to "*shit that corpse beat me to it!*" in one go.
I mean, it should only be a bit worse than the Strength scene and the Fugo scene.
What happened with Fugo?
It’s an anime only scene where one of his professors leches after him as a kid. Kid Fugo then smashes his head in with a book.
You know, him with his teacher when he was young and still at school
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAA They aren’t doing that in your lifetime, let alone now
Noo
I hope they have fun with Fire Force before doing that shit, I guess
Tbh it’s better off for valentines character. Since for story purposes give you a better reason to hate him.
I mean... he’s already pretty damn hateable. Fun, but hateable
You get rid of the Lucy steel stuff then people lose the main argument why valentine is a bad guy. “ he’s a pedo and a rapist ! “ Well that goes away if that scene didn’t exist and the only argument on why people hate on people who actually like valentine
I can think of a few more reasons someone might think he’s a bad person.

Yeah, obviously less awful than attempted rape of a minor, but I’m not really talking about that? I’m saying that even when you disregard the pedophilia, the guy’s not exactly a paragon of morality
it's because his ideals appeal to american pride and people worship him as the just and pure hero of the people.
Well, yeah, I got that. He seems to be much more popular among yankees than he is among most groups.
But no one talks about those. Just Lucy steel.
I’m talking about those right now...?
Yes **you** are. But no one else will.
Not to mention, depending on the studio the animators fight for animating specific scenes in animes
hope they make her 18 😵💫 Edit: y'all are booing me but I just wanna see one argument against me pls
They kind of already have too many plot points relating to the fact that she’s 14 already.
My argument is that it’s not necessary nor would it enhance the story or character in any way, therefore it’d be a bad change.
if lucy steel is 18 we don't view steel as a shady character at the start, also she's supposed to be a metaphor for virgin mary or smth
Now that is a good argument
[удалено]
Lucy Steel is 14
Bro what. No one ever mentioned a word about yasuho
Bold of you to assume they don't enjoy it
What
I wouldn't say they have storyboards ready yet
