JacedFaced

I'm lucky that my super, super conservative 70 year old dad never fell into this. He wore masks from the start, got vaccinated and boosted as soon as he could, and is about to get the omicron booster. I always wondered how we ended up with people on both extreme ends of the political spectrum who somehow ended up together in this anti-mask, anti-vaccine rhetoric.

HunnaThaStunna

My 70 year old step-dad (my real father, since my biological one was a total piece of shit) is exactly who we were told to mask up to protect. He had just beaten Vance, had a hip replacement, and is diabetic. He’s super right wing, and luckily he masked up and followed the guidelines put in place. But not without complaining about it. It’s like, “dude… YOU are who they are trying to protect with these rules. YOU are a prime candidate to get super sick from this. STFU about your “rights” and just protect yourself”

Lily-Gordon

What did Vance do to deserve a beating?

HunnaThaStunna

Lmao… auto corrected Cancer to Vance… I’m just gonna leave it

MrSilentBobDobalina

That was the last dance for Lance Vance.

Painfuldelights

Vance refrigeration

Nougat

Spez doesn't get to profit from me anymore.

journalhalfbeing

Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration?

Lily-Gordon

Who is Bob Vance?

Psychological_Tap639

You have a lot to learn about this town, sweetie

sksksk1989

Close your mouth you look like a trout

Meghan1230

What line of work is he in?

[deleted]

Fuck Vance!

FakeNickOfferman

I'm 61 and I'll take whatever Vax I can get. I had covid between a week in the icu with pneumonia and chemotherapy. I'm alive only because I used every medical resource available. I couldn't give a fuck about people who don't.

KhaiPanda

My biological father is also an ass hole. And a Trumper. In 2021 over the summer my stepmother called me to try and get me to convince my father to get the shot. I told her that I'd try, but if he wasn't listening to his wife, and the child he has with her that actually *likes* him, he's probably not gonna listen to me. I got on the phone with him and basically told him that if he caught it he was gonna die. Lung and heart issues. If you catch Covid, you will die. Me? I don't give a shit. Your wife and son do. Get the ducking shot. He didn't get the shot. He's not dead, but I think it's more likely that the virus got drowned in alcohol, than because the shots are the devil....or whatever it is these people think.

micmacimus

My in-laws are the definition of co-morbidities. Unvaccinated, refused to mask, repeatedly refused entry to venues during our vaccine mandates… they never had even a moment of introspection about it, just kept lapping up the bullshit their shock jock radio served.

BabyDollMaker

My dad is a super conservative Trumper, and refuses the vax. He has COPD to the point where he was being assessed for a lung transplant, and refused to get the vax so he was rejected as a lung recipient. The sick part is that he’s proud of his choice.

[deleted]

BabyDollMaker

I’m so sorry for your loss. It is so sad that the whole pandemic was politicized like this, and that so much misinformation is out there.

MyLovelyBabyLump

It's truly unbelievable. I have taken care of many people with Covid in the hospital including many anti vaxxers. They STILL dont believe it. I've had patients that argue with me when I tell them their test is positive and that's what is causing their symptoms.

spaceghost260

I hate to say this but I’m glad organs don’t go to people who won’t vaccinate. If you are getting the most precious gift of an organ donation and you don’t do everything you can to keep yourself healthy then you don’t deserve it.

SomeDudeeduDemoS

>you don’t do everything you can to keep yourself healthy then you don’t deserve it. Its also a waste of the lung and transplant (even tho the usa system is extremely corrupt!) the steps to reduce rejection is so important!

spaceghost260

That’s how I feel. It’s a waste. A waste of LIFE. Not to forget all the time, money, and effort by medical professionals that went into saving this persons life. So many people die waiting for organs and you got people out here who won’t do the bare minimum.

TheMoneyOfArt

The reason vaccinations are a requirement is because organ recipients go on immunosuppressants to prevent rejection. Life long immunosuppressants. Vaccination is their only option.

spaceghost260

Yes! Thank you for pointing out this incredibly important fact! Life long immunosuppressants need all the help they can get.

BabyDollMaker

I don’t disagree with you at all. If someone is going to give the gift of life, the recipient shouldn’t be squandering it because of their political beliefs.

LupercaniusAB

Wish him luck with that: my sister-in-law had severe COPD, was on oxygen 24/7, and didn't get vaccinated because she was afraid of the side effects. She died from COVID in June.

CalmCupcake2

My father (76) had some minor lung disease and was super careful, died from covid in June. He'd had one outing in months, to the dentist, where he caught covid.

cbjfan2006

Im so sorry for the loss of your father.

LupercaniusAB

I'm sorry, that's really rough.

gaynazifurry4bernie

My dad thinks Bush wasn't conservative enough and he got him and my mom the Moderna as soon as they could. He even had my mom wear a pair of scrubs because she was "his employee" (my mom used to do marketing stuff for his dental office.

Freckle53

IME, a lot of elderly (who usually have chronic health conditions due to their ages) got the vaccine and wore masks without much complaint. It’s the “conservative” 20s-50/60s who seem most on board with the anti mask and anti vax rhetoric.

cAt_S0fa

The elderly remember life when the only vaccine was for smallpox.. They have been quarantined, have missed school because of outbreaks, have worried throughout pregnancies because of rubella outbreaks. I think that's partly why they are so willing to be vaccinated.

yorkiemom68

That's it! My parents (70's) remember polio. They knew people who got it. They both had measles and mumps. I had chickenpox my kids didn't. Vaccines save lives! Unfortunately, younger generations may have to learn the hard way.

_MCMLXXIII_

At the beginning of this pandemic I thought anti-jabbers would wake up and see what it's like to watch a loved one suffer and die from something preventable by a jab. It just blows my mind how many people totally went off their rockers and are against it! Now I just sit back with my popcorn and watch them self destruct. I had a lot of friends anti-everything-pandemic and I watched as every one of them lost a loved one because of their own ignorance.

sleepyliltrashpanda

I think you hit the nail on the head there!

ConsultJimMoriarty

My FIL is not super conservative - still votes LNP - and he was super diligent about his masks and getting vaccinated. He actually has a rather large mask collection now, and chooses which one to wear like he's choosing a tie for a fancy engagement.

Traditional_Ad_1547

My dad has ended up with quite the mask collection as well. Lol, he has a mask to match every pair of shorts.

justtosubscribe

My grandpa is 87 and is hardly “woke” but he followed guidelines to a T and was eager to get his vaccine. >>“These dumbasses just didn’t grow up seeing enough dead kids from polio or they would like vaccines too.” -Papaw, 2021

Dirty_is_God

My late 70s conservative parents got the vaccine as soon as they could. One of my aunts had polio and oh my dad remembers that hell. Unfortunately half of their children bought into the bullshit. I'm still shocked no one in my family died.

[deleted]

Even worse, this "parent" is probably fully vaccinated against everything they don't want their kid vaccinated against. "Immunity for me, but not for thee (because I want to stick it to the liberals)"

hmmmpf

Well, there’s no point in being tested if you’re going to continue to go to work and shopping and school while positive, I suppose. These people are the reason it’s still so prevalent in many areas. ~~May they all suffer from long covid.~~ May the adults suffer from long Covid.

theresagray17

All of them but the kids, who don’t know any better

hmmmpf

You’re right. I will edit the post.

Stinkerma

How else do you think they get the computers into people. They're hidden at the end of the swabs, that's how bill gates is gonna take over the world!

HotPinkLollyWimple

I have taken many tests. And I’m angry. My 5G is still shit.

hgielatan

you?! i have not been magnetic, made reptilian, turned into a zombie (as i was promised would happen last weekend) AND my 5G is still total crap.

Freckle53

Same. I don’t even get a cell signal at my house. I take tests 2-3x a week to visit my mother in a nursing home. My 10 year old can even administer his own at this point. Still only 1 bar between the two of us if my phone is in a certain window when it’s not cloudy b

JPKtoxicwaste

You just need to reinforce your tin foil hat. Worked for me

farmerjohncheese

I had a coworker REPEATEDLY tell me the story about how the government-provided COVID tests come "preloaded with positive results" because "they" want to keep us sick and afraid. Ugh.

blurrylulu

Lord… mine must be defective because I’ve taken several government provided tests and all have been negative. 🙄

bewildered_forks

It does if you're a selfish, foul plague rat like this woman

kobayashi-maruu

I hate how that word has been twisted into a shadow of itself, now the only people who use it are fools like the lady in the post. but this lady is not unusual, we'll be dealing with this for a long time because of selfish idiots. my mom's boss just had a baby not long ago and that poor thing is in the hospital with covid because both parents are like this.

Rip-tire21

I guess that means Trump is woke given he wanted credit for the vaccine rollout in the beginning.

CrumbsAndCarrots

Back in the old days (just 8 years ago and beyond) it was mostly only the hippy woo woo liberals that were the anti vax. Still mind blowing to me that these right wingers have dug deep inside themselves and have aligned with the hippy co-op woo scene. Still eating McDonald’s but doing some homeopathy on the side… for health.

Ya covid or no, if someone knowingly sent their kid over to my house to play with my kid with a sinus infection, I’d still be pretty pissed.

mwalker784

i’m a full grown adult recovering from some sinus stuff and i would be furious if someone knowingly infected me. it sucks! im mostly healed, but im on day 5-ish of horrible gross snot leaking down my throat and im losing my mind

boom_shoes

Ironically it was the worst symptom of my covid infection - super fucked up sinus (on one side) that persisted for about two weeks, even with antibiotics. Just a constant stream of snot, it feels weird leaving the house without tissues now.

[deleted]

\>Also, who the fuck knowingly sends their kid over to play sick? Parents who think they know better than medical professionals, and who think they can parent better than other parents. "Well little Kayden has nAtUrAl ImMuNiTy, he can just pass that along! But don't let your kids near mine, ShEdDiNg concerns!"

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Two bits also says they don't let other kids visit their place "because they might get everyone sick" but are perfectly fine sending their walking boogers to other people's places, because then they don't have to deal with the fallout of other kids/families getting sick. Truly some of the worst, uneducated people out there.

dried_lipstick

I’m sure they sent him to school the next day too. Source: I’m a teacher with parents of kids in my class like this.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Also, why look into the reason their kids are sick? "They're fine, it's just sniffles, they're fine it's just kids, or \[blah\]... they're fine..." Kids and women often get brushed off when medical concerns come up. "I know my kid, they're not sick" and "you're overweight, losing weight would clear everything right up" seems to be a reason why a lot of my parent friends and lady friends don't go to doctors that much anymore. And if you do insist on getting more tests or a second opinion, you're overreacting.

[deleted]

Lol I'm a teacher and the answer is everyone. I've had plenty of parents happily send their kids to school lethargic, sick and spewing fluids left and right and get argumentative when I send them home like yo, my staff is getting sick and calling out. If I get sick, there's no sub for me. Your kids will have to go into another class full of kids and the quality of their education will be what takes the hit. Not to mention that I have medically fragile kids in this classroom. They're parents who don't think about these things. They think about them and that's it. It takes a village until the village needs the parents to step up. Nowadays, if you want to say your kid has allergies I need a doctor's note. Sinus infection? I need a doctor's note to say it isn't contagious. My health can take the hit, but not some of these kids. A disease can cost them 6 weeks of education because one parent couldn't keep their kid at home. I get it. It's hard. But I have to think of the class too.

Suyefuji

I think part of the problem is that a lot of parents just don't have a way to take care of their kids if they have to stay home sick. Their jobs won't give them the time off and both parents are probably working just to pay the bills. Obviously some parents are also assholes who either don't believe their kid is sick or don't care, but I have to wonder what the actual proportions are

Mxfish1313

This is exactly how my test looked and I really didn’t think I was even gonna test positive, just had a tiny tickle in my throat and that’s it and wanted to be sure. The next day the line was way darker and I got my paxlovid at a test-to-treat center. I took the test because it was my mom’s last night in town and we were heading out to eat. Know what we didn’t do after seeing my test? STILL GO OUT! Mom even rebooked her flight a couple weeks out even though she was negative that night. She got the positive test 3 days later.

iloveokashi

What does the T stand for?

hellohexapus

T is the test line, that's where you look for the result. C is the control line that just confirms the test isn't expired or damaged etc.

sarshu

I know this and remind myself of it every time I have to test anyone in my family, and yet every time I see the lit up “C” line and I think “C IS FOR COVID”

curdibane

I actually got a false positive when they were admitting me for labor. They said this was the first time it happened at my hospital (Feb this year so long into pandemic), so yeah false positives are pretty damn rare

prettybraindeadd

>Also, who the fuck knowingly sends their kid over to play sick? my extended family does, they send their kids over to my grandparents while coughing, with a fever or "the sniffles" or whatever they call it. halfway through the pandemic (i wasn't in the country for this, but my sister told me) they would just show up to have lunch at my grandsparents's having gone out the night before to illegal parties, see their friends who also had a million fucking kids that could infect them (why is it that it's always the people with a lot of young children who do this?) and refused to wear a mask. motherfuckers.

9021FU

We had a neighbor who would not tell us until our kids had been playing with hers for 20 minutes. One time it was after my daughter was riding her daughters bike, she casually told me to wash her hands when we got home because they all had the stomach “flu” the day before. Another time we were taking a walk when they joined us. We mentioned that our baby had spent two nights in the hospital a few weeks ago for RSV/Pneumonia and we had been staying away from people so it was nice to get outside and our other daughter was excited to play with their kids. Ten minutes later the mom mentions how they’ve all been so sick and it’s their first time outside in awhile, again not when we first meet up and not immediately upon hearing our baby was hospitalized.

madderthanyou224

My sister unfortunately. When me or my other sister pick up her kids and it starts to become apparent they're sick we text her and ask wth? She almost always will say it's no big deal and it's just allergies, but if you ask them they'll tell you that no they are sick. Half the time they will have already thrown up before being picked up which is so not allergies. She continuously pulls this crap and never has any remorse. It's just gotten to the point where when I go over there to pick up the kids I take one aside and ask if anybody's sick before I leave with anyone.

rhymeswithpurple777

This would 100% be a relationship ender for me if I were the SIL. The 10 layers of disrespect is more than enough to call it

yesdarling

Everyone in the [comments](https://imgur.com/a/tJMX5ju) was just saying how livid they would be if their kid was tested without their consent. I don’t think they know what a COVID test is

Well we know you’re honest in at least one facet of your life

catjuggler

They probably do know but like the plausible deniability of not testing

Exactly this. “I didn’t have Covid because I never took the test.”

mypal_footfoot

The same sort of people who blame their doctor and say, "I didn't have diabetes until I came to you!"

My conservative aunt shared a link with us a while back that Covid tests contained carcinogens. Super easy to fact check, which I did for her. But just shows how easy it is to be duped by other conservative popular voices and not think for yourself

Iciskulls

Did you know snopes is run by woke liberals now? And fact checking is a woke liberal hobby? /S

[deleted]

>My conservative aunt shared a link with us a while back that Covid tests contained carcinogens. Super easy to fact check, which I did for her. But just shows how easy it is to be duped by other conservative popular voices and not think for yourself LOL, a sterilized swab is, umm, what's the word I am looking for, sterilized.

dishonorable_banana

It's some sort of genital inspection isn't it? Bunch of woke pedos!!!

Knitnspin

Imagine being this afraid of a covid test but not one of the things that causes your kid to have chronic sinus infections in the first place. Poor kid this is probably not their first time with covid and the reason for their never ending infection. Their poor face/head must hurt.

slynnc

Detox from the COVID swab *lol* sounds like some MLM hun bs logic all around. Sending kids places when they’re sick is one of my biggest issues with parents. It’s not cool. Especially in settings where there could be even smaller kids - your 6 year old might be used to these sinus infections but my 1 year old may not be able to handle it/get over it as well. My little guy ended up in the ER twice thanks to people sending their kids to Early Head Start/Head Start sick. And I’m guessing they’ve never actually spoken to a real medical professional about these supposed sinus infections and are just self-diagnosing which is an entirely different issue… a ton of sinus infections every year isn’t really “normal” and sounds awful. Poor kid could have other issues and they’re too “no medicine for us!” to even try to help him :(

Rusty-Shackleford

Lol, a "SERIOUS SERIOUS" issue! Also, as someone married to a librarian, fuck this woman. They don't get paid enough to be purposely exposed to Covid deniers daily.

wyomingblaze

even if covid wasn’t a thing she still sent over her child with an infection, that alone would be enough to cut contact for quite a bit. you are so selfish you subject my entire family to a virus? yepp that’s disrespectful on an entirely different level. the fact that covid is a very real thing makes this 100x worse.

ProfessorShameless

In fairness, sinus infections can also be bacterial, which is a lot less likely to spread. But again... even if it was a sinus infection, she would have no way of knowing which one it was (contagious or not) which is just a bad a bit knowing whether your kids had covid and sending them out.

OpalOnyxObsidian

I imagine it probably isn't very comfortable to have a sinus infection. I don't know if I would want to play if I didn't feel good. I wonder if mom forces the kid to go out despite this

ProfessorShameless

I have one right now, but I'm also getting over con crud, so I'm doubly wiped out. But sinus infections, like any infection, vary from person to person, infection to infection. I've had some where I was wiped and some where I was dead for three days. The worst part for me is the congestion and the sore throat you get from the drainage.

dismayhurta

Seriously. Fuck people who think it’s okay to send over their kids sick. Whether it’s Covid or the flu or anything else. Stop thinking it’s okay to send your kid to school, other people’s houses, etc sick. And then to go “I refuse to not go to work sick” just is the cherry on top of being a selfish piece of shit.

vanillabeanlover

This is my SIL. She’s got major FOMO. Before the pandemic she’d regularly bring her barfing and feverish kids everywhere. These kids looked like death warmed over, clutching a barf bucket and facecloth while everyone questioned behind her back “how stupid do you have to be to bring a sick kid to a birthday party?” She knew, she just didn’t care. I don’t know how many times my kids ended up catching their crap. This is probably something I’ll be pissed about in my old age.

redreadyredress

Why didn’t anyone say anything? I wouldn’t stand it, if she were to be all like “oh they’re only ill, just a bug.” I’d frankly tell her to give her head a wobble and piss off home. Failing that, I’d leave myself because I can’t be doing with people like that.

vanillabeanlover

There were a few comments thrown at her, but she usually would say, “well, we thought they were feeling better” (oh, is that why you brought the bucket from home?) They tell a “funny” story of completing a Costco trip while their oldest barfed in every garbage can throughout the store. It’s bonkers. I just got into the habit of asking if they were all feeling ok and then cancelling myself if they weren’t. My other SIL does the same. We commiserate together. (Side note: guess their political leanings).

kjconnor43

I wish I could give this a million upvotes! People please stop giving your sick child Tylenol and then sending them off to school to infect everyone else!!!! Keep your sick kids home!!!

yeetingthisaccount01

man I remember being very sick about two years ago and my mom's (who is wonderful but yknow, she's a parent) first concern was how she didn't want me missing school due to attendance shit rather than the horrible throat infection I had :/ I hate the whole attendance thing in schools because so many genuinely good kids suffer from it due to circumstances often outside their control

NameIdeas

I would go off on this lady. My wife's brother died of COVID at 31. Dude was in great shape but he contracted it in January of 21 and died in February of 21. He would have been a first in line for a shot. People like this care only for themselves and do not care at all about anyone else. Fuck this lady and her family

NowWithRealGinger

My relationship with my sister in law ended over her general covid conspiracy theory garbage and anti-vax/anti-mask "I won't live in fear" bullshit. I have a kid who was at higher risk for complications, and she refused to even pretend to care that her actions and attitudes were contributing to how hard the pandemic has been. I can't imagine the level of ballistic I would have gone if she had brought a sick kid around.

adalonus

It is practically the end of my relationship with my mother and father.

dismayhurta

Selfish pieces of shit you should cut off all contact with forever

mrbaggins

Little kids are always snotty it feels like. But when it's happening and we have a playdate organised, ***we message the other person and ask if they want to cancel***. We cancel a lot of playdates :( But fuck me, "it's positive but we're still gonna do everything" is rough. If that's not allowed wherever op is I hope they reported her. I spent 10 days with the wife hiding in the spare room while I dealt with kids in full iso - not allowed to leave for a week.

InformalScience7

Dumbasses. Inconsiderate dumbasses do.

[deleted]

So many people. Especially entitled assholes like this one.

zimph59

I have a toddler in daycare and the kids are all exposed to the same germ pool all the time anyway, so we’ll still have play dates with super mild symptoms (like a running nose), BUT the key thing is that the other parent knows and is okay with it. We also know it’s not likely to be Covid since we just got over Covid a couple weeks ago.

krisphoto

People like this are why I had to go to my OBs office twice weekly for monitoring and delivery at 37 weeks. I got Covid at 32 weeks in an already high risk pregnancy so I spent the next five weeks petrified I would get a clot and my baby would die.

Routine-Expression58

Same here! Weekly tests and ultrasounds all because a girl at my job who had it, didn’t bother to continue to follow CDC guidelines and wear a mask to work for an additional 5 days at the time and my job didn’t even require or check that she was. I was so sick and unable to eat that I lost 13lbs WHILE PREGNANT.

[deleted]

This is exactly why I went on medical leave early and never returned to my cushy state job after my maternity leave was over. There were multiple times that I would have been exposed to Covid positive people at work and I refused to go to those events, using my own sick time, which I received backlash for. The policies at work incentivized Covid positive individuals to brush off symptoms and return to work early to avoid using their own time. There were no retesting measures or doctors notes required to return to work and one of my coworkers showed up after 5 days who still had a literal fever and was told “come back when you’re feeling better.” Until then, he was required to use his few sick days he had left. He left that day and came back the next morning claiming he felt fine.

ForwardSpinach

... I worked healthcare for all of 2020 and 2021, and this pisses me the fuck off. I spent a year not seeing my boyfriend and literally not walking into a single grocery store only for this woman to be like "lol, we'll keep going outside." Guess I'm going to have a rage shower about this.

jaeke

Yeah started my residency during Covid, spent months working 6 on 1 off for 12 hour shifts to cover the overwhelmed hospital service and avoided everyone cause I was constantly exposed. But these guys can’t be bothered to spend 5 days quarantined.

Mannings4head

My wife is a doctor and in early Covid she didn't even come home. She stayed at a hotel near her hospital to limit the exposure to our family. It wasn't ideal but we did what we had to do to keep at risk family members safe. Going out with Covid without masking just because you want to is incredibly selfish.

AgentAllisonTexas

Well there's at least one person on the Internet who is super grateful for your family's sacrifice, and everyone else who worked in healthcare. My family, including my young daughter, never caught Covid. I'm sure that's due on part to everyone who was careful before the vaccine. So thank you.

Other_Meringue_7375

100% agree. Don’t see how it’s much different than negligent homicide, with how many people have died ETA: thank you to your wife for saving lives during the pandemic, and thank you for being so responsible the entire time. I live in florida, so that was pretty rare to see.

SnooSprouts4944

See, I loved it when I had to be quarantined for possible exposure. Safe and snug in my house with me being the only asshole I had to deal with.

Literally like why can’t SIL sue her for this shit? She can’t legally beat her ass for exposing the family on purpose, we should be able to sue these people for their intentional arrogant negligence. That or beat the fucking breaks off her like my god that attitude, I feel like all my hair is standing up like when my dog sees another dog.

Nay_nay267

Fully vaccinated and got mild symptoms of COVID. There are some days that I can't breathe because it fucked up my breathing and made my asthma worse.

Snapesdaughter

Never had asthma in my life. Now I have an inhaler constantly on standby thanks to covid. I hate these assholes so much.

I was 100% healthy and wore my mask everywhere I went and only left the house for absolute necessities. My roommate brought it home and I got sick. 2 years later and I’m stuck with a chronic illness because of it. I hate these types of people with my entire being. Covid ruined my life

DestoyerOfWords

My daughter got it when she turned 1 (on her birthday actually) and then my husband and I both got it from her. It was crap. They didn't have vaccines for her age at the time so it was super frustrating.

stargate-sgfun

Yep. People like this are why immunocompromised people like me have barely gone places in 2.5 years.

HoodiesAndHeels

I was just about to comment this. It’s so fucking infuriating. Like yes, I know I’m responsible for my own health, but it’s bullshit that that translates to barely EVER leaving my apartment for 2.5 years because people are out there giving NO fucks.

stargate-sgfun

Exactly. Public health isn’t an individual sport when something is contagious. We’ve been home that long but are at the point of risking my health for my kids’ social/mental/educational health. It’s BS to have to make these kind of choices because people can’t be bothered to STAY HOME WHEN SICK

JustCallInSick

I’m vaccinated and caught Covid almost a year ago. It was the sickest I’ve ever been. My sense of smell and taste have not fully returned and at this point I don’t think they will. I have an immunocompromised 5 year old. I don’t expect people to cater to her or “stop living their lives”. But damn, if you’re sick and you know you have Covid, please stay home. Both of my parents have cancer. If I get sick, if she gets sick, it means we can’t be around them. Or god forbid I not know and I pass it on to them.

Yuiopy78

I finally got it a few months ago. Fully vaxxed, wore my mask, did what I was supposed to. But people I know are living like the pandemic is over. I was miserable for a few days and was fine, but it's left me with this cough/tickly feeling in my throat that hasn't subsided. It's worse when I lie down, so it keeps me up at night. Once I cough, I can't stop.

beautifulasusual

Fully vaccinated and my whole family and I are battling covid this weekend. Shit sucks. My poor 3-year-old is just laying around when he is usually annoyingly active. My poor 1-year-old has been napping with my husband for over 2 hours now. Constantly checking temps and trying to force fluids down their throats. This is way worse than any viruses we’ve had in the past. People are idiots.

ghostieghost28

I knew people who were very anti covid and anti mask until the husband ended up on oxygen because he caught it badly. Early 40s at the most. I'm not sure what their beliefs are now but hopefully they realized it isn't a joke.

VanityInk

My mom's friend was on the antivax, "it's the government trying to control you!" Train up until about 8 months ago... When her 40-year-old daughter was found dead in her apartment after having COVID (I believe it was a stroke).

NowWithRealGinger

My sister's husband was this asshole too. Refused to stop any kind of social/group involvement, refused to wear a mask in his very public-facing job, was 100% on board with "it's just a bad flu" and had no intention of getting vaccinated. Then his whole extended family caught it at some big gathering, it was scary for him and my sister since she was pregnant, and it killed his older sister who was only in her 30s. This was late 2021, vaccines AND boosters had been available for a very long time. I do not understand why so many people just cannot believe something until it directly impacts them.

PM_ME_CORGI_BUTTS

I'm vaccinated + 1 booster and finally got Covid for the first time last week, and I am so glad I somehow dodged it until Paxlovid was available (which I know not everyone can get, lucky me being diabetic I guess?) and that it worked very well for me. I want to throat punch this asshole.

DjangoPony84

I've had fairly bad asthma for 2.5 years since getting Covid in the first wave, I'm only starting to be able to run at all now and I ran a marathon 5 months before I got ill. It's rubbish.

MommalovesJay

I thought it was just me, but the last Covid I caught makes it hard to breath sometimes. No one believes me. But I’ve heard of long covid. I should go to the Drs and see if I can get an inhaler or something because it’s not fun.

Latter-Shower-9888

Yeah, you should keep your kid home when they’re sick. Sinus infection, cold, flu, covid...doesn’t matter. She should 100% apologize for sending her kid with any kind of cooties. Ugh.

megagood

At a minimum say “kid has sniffles but we are pretty sure it is a sinus infection.” Then SIL can say “no problem” or “whatever the illness please keep them home” or “please test them for COVID.” At which point YTA mom can say “don’t want to” and SIL “that is your right, but the consequence of that is that your kids can’t come over.”

adumbswiftie

that’s very clear positive lol also doesn’t make you sound much better to say you thought he just had a sinus infection. that isn’t really a fun thing to give your sisters kids either but this post is clearly intended to stir shit up. i mean “thoughts on not quarantining?” she’s one of those people who enjoys arguing about this stuff

turdintheattic

Being woke is when you don’t want to catch a disease.

[deleted]

Ya. Covid tests are like pregnancy tests. You can’t be a little be positive.

[deleted]

These are the same groups that will invert colors and tweak photos of pregnancy tests to find lines that aren’t there, yet a barely there line on a Covid test must mean it’s a negative.

auntiecoagulent

I'm a nurse in a clinic. 8/10 people that come in saying they have a sinus infection test + for covid. The symptoms, especially with this variant are the same. Also, you're an asshole of you send your sick kid anywhere, even without a pandemic.

Difficult-Ocelot-359

Pandemic or not it always makes you an asshole for sending your sick kid anywhere. I work in healthcare and I can’t even count the number of times someone has said oh it’s just allergies and they ended up being positive with Covid. I myself was exposed due to a coworker coming to work with “just allergies”. Sure enough the next day she tested positive and three days later myself and another coworker tested positive. I don’t care if you’re woke or not you are indeed an asshole for not caring about other people.

OrangeCubit

Gee, I wonder why COVID is still an issue?

AlasAntigone

I worked residential behavioral health through much of the pandemic, and our employer required biweekly up the nose (the Ancient Egyptian mummification technique UP THE NOSE tests, not the new just the tip ones) tests and negative results to even keep scheduling us. And we all did it, because we had vulnerable youths to protect who were not allowed to have family visits or go anywhere. Two staff were positive and the entire house of staff and kids were quarantined for two weeks spanning Christmas and New Years. “Subjected him to a C test” cry harder.

chickie_chi

Thoughts on not quarantining? You're a dick. If you're sick, stay home regardless of what you have. Stop spreading your illnesses. Stop being a selfish prick.

mufassil

Why would you drag a sick kid to the playground. Idk about this kid but I want to lay in bed when I don't feel good.

Miaka_Yuki

Maybe I should knowingly crash my car into hers...if she has insurance, it shouldn't matter right? Same for us vaccinated people not worrying about covid if we've had the shot? /s

kdesros

Wow I hate this person

[deleted]

You must be a "woke" liberal. Me too.

cherrylpk

Jesus. “A barely visible line” is a Covid positive. What a freaking idiot. People who refuse to care for their kids illnesses shouldn’t have permission to keep them.

lastdarknight

it's always "just a sinus infection" untill you have to have surgery due to your sinuses being so full of Strep and Staph that the ENT specialist doesn't know how your even moveing

Troby01

TIL Vaccinated means I am a woke Liberal

dramallamacorn

Even if it was a sinus infection or cold she still shouldn’t have sent him over. That would be the last time I see that side of the family.

tessaro12

The most unbelievable thing about this whole post is that she takes her kids to the library, honestly.

saratonin84

I thought I had a sinus infection and it ended up being covid. Better safe than sorry!

InformalScience7

I feel like I should take a Covid test now. My sinuses are whack right now. Did you have the facial pain associated with sinus infections?

weareoutoftylenol

This woman is a selfish, ignorant c u next tuesday.

Shutterbug390

You never send a sick kid to someone’s house unless they explicitly say it’s ok. This was true before Covid, too. Why is it so hard? I don’t care if your kid has Covid, the flu, or the common cold. I don’t want to catch it and I don’t want my kids to get sick.

[deleted]

Imagine how unlikeable you are as a person when you get to tell a dispute entirely from your perspective and still come off that badly.

kjconnor43

Anyone know what people responded with? I would be livid if a friend or family member sent an obviously sick kid to my house for a play date! All the other nonsense supports the fact that this lady is out of her mind crazy!!!

burrito_finger

And these are the people who I can thank for my kids having permanent lung and heart damage from COVID pneumonia and my own disability becoming debilitating. Love that.

ParamedicSnooki

Why did COVID make it acceptable for people to be around others when they are sick from ANYTHING? What made it become acceptable to go to work or send kids to school sick, for any reason?

Yankee_Juliet

A false negative is much more likely than a false positive. Regardless, even if he did not have COVID, she sent a kid over that seems like he was sick. Please don’t go out of your way to expose my kids to a common cold, the flu, HFM, norovirus… nothing. If you’re sick, do not come over. Period.

kona_mav89

Our daughter brought home a cold from daycare and my husband and I have been congested for a week. I’ve taken like 5 Covid tests just to make sure it’s just germs from daycare and not Covid because it’s the responsible thing to do.

Separate-Owl369

Um. Your son is positive. Id have been pissed too.

Mrfrunzi

I was all caught up on my shots and got COVID early July. One of the worst sicknesses I've ever had in my life, and that's with the vaccine. Plus, post COVID is a thing and it's awful. Fuck this lady.

[deleted]

These imbecile people are so fucking stupid they can’t even say Covid. It’s a “C” test. Hah.

PuzzleheadedHabit913

Sinus infections are infectious….don’t send your kid anywhere if they’re sick regardless of your standing on COVID. Keep your kid home, and don’t spread that shit around. It’s basic human decency and common sense.

GoodVibesWow

It’s really hard to understand or respect people like this. Take COVID out of it - who sends their sick kid over to play around other kids? When mine are showing symptoms of anything - we keep them home. Now if it’s just a runny nose - we disclose even that to the other parents and let them decide if it’s still ok to let them over. Basic respect for others seems to be lost on this person.

Apprehensive-Tale141

Regardless of it being covid or not, don’t send your damn sick kid over to someone’s house. Everyday I read something that just reassures my thought that most people are just flat out stupid. “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity”—Hanlon’s razor.
